[Q] Android 4.3: How to screen-capture with delay and temporary elements? - Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) Q&A, Help & Troubl

Hi, Is there a hassle-free, decent app, that captures screens in Android 4.3 on Samsung S3 and Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1/2014
- without interpolating
- with 5 seconds delay
- also capturing screen elements that appear only while screen is touched?
I will happily pay for that app.
I would like to take Screenshots in that fashion:
1. press on-screen button in screenshot app
2. five seconds later, the whole screen will be saved as a PNG file (or TIFF or BMP).
But:
My two Android 4.3 devices create screenshots ONLY in those ways:
- wipe screen with hand horizontally (it's activated in settings)
- press Home- and Off-buttons
- on tablet, with S-Pen and screenshot-note (results look interpolated, even though they have the screen's resolution of 2560x1600px)
These methods are troublesome, the wiping changes app states and generally i cannot record elements that only appear when the screen is touched (for instance, the editing controls that appear when you touch a photo in an image-editing app).
Last year, i had some ways that all don't work now with Android 4.3. After pressing the Off-button for a while, i do get the usual menue, but there is no screenshot option (i don't see where i can activate the option in the settings).
I also tried around five apps recommended in many articles, including Screenshot Free, Screenshot UX Trial and Screenshot Ultimate. They do NOT capture anything. Screenshot Ultimate has a Screenshot Auto Detect telling me there is no easy way to capture screens; followed by a very long and complicated explanation how to capture screens anyway, but i don't want to follow this long explanation and i don't want to "root".
In short: Is there a hassle-free, decent app, that captures screens in Android 4.3
- without interpolating
- with 5 seconds delay
- also capturing screen elements that appear only while screen is touched?
I will happily pay for that app.
Thanks!

Regarding Performance of Picture Picker Control

Hello All,
Suppose u've around 20-30 images and you are using Picture Picker control to display them as thumbnails.
You can navigate from one thumbnail to another using arrow (up-down-left-right) keys. As long as you are pressing keys at normal speed focused of currently selected thumbnails move accordingly and stops when you stop but if you are rapidly pressing keys it takes around 1-3 sec to stop the movement of currently selected thumbnail.
In same windows mobile on program screen (display list of all installed application icons) even you are rapidly pressing keys it stops within second. I don't have numerical data for supporting my statement but it can easily verified.
I've few questions :
1) why there is this flickering in picture picker control and how can i overcome it ?
2) Is modal dialog based application are slow in performance than window based application.
with above lines I tried to explain the problem facing in my native application. In My application too I've created the modal dialog box in a window and then entire application running on that dialog box.The very first screen shows the icons of downloaded apps n having the same problem ie on rapidly pressing navigation keys, focus of currently selected icons stops after 2-4 seconds. I've also run fexploreext205.CAB which is a third party application provide the extra functionalty to explorer like icon view of current directory items. This app does not have that flicker on Icon View screen. Undoubtly there is some better way to do this which overcome this flickering.... any pointer or any reference most welcome

[HOWTO] Turn off screen (kind of) while recording.

So I know a few people have asked about this around the net and I've yet to find a solution for this so I thought I'd post my little workaround.
Anyone that's tried to create a long timelapse with the GNex will tell you 1) you NEED to be plugged into AC the whole time and 2) Phone gets extremely hot. Since brightness is automatically increased when recording video, and can't be decreased I use the following combo/setup as a workaround.
Download Screen Filter from Market (**** a play store) https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.haxor&hl=en
This app essentially lets you tint your mobile screen from a percentage range of 2-98% of your current brighthness.
Once the app installed go into drawer and add the apps widget to one of your home screens, and set your desired tint percentage. I'm currently at 2% and that makes my screen look like its completely off (except for softkeys)
The final product ends up looking like this..
lol and for all you pervos out there dont be using this workaround to secretly record down/up women's clothes and such...
there is a spycam app called simple notepad that will give you a complete black screen while recording and lets you take pictures by tapping the screen. it works great with amoled scene since the phone looks like it's off when there is a black background. it'd didn't work so good on my atrix but great on the captivate. It's not in the market so you will have to google it.
thanks for the tip I'll check it out
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
but how can you do anything after recording has started? my phone stops recording even if i press the home button.
or do you darken it before you start recording, and then navigate blindly? how do you undarken it afterwards?
hmm... the screen filter idea seems kind of good, even though you have to navigate blind through the menu... I wish there was a native way of achieving this, just like a button in the camera to turn the screen off and back on again on a tap somewhere or so... But I think it works for my problem, thank you for your idea.

[Q] Touch simulating app

This is coming from the following thread:
http://www.dpreview.com/forums/post/55899408
The request:
Would it be possible to create an app, working 'on top' of samsung remote evf (another app used to remotely control samsung cameras), able to simulate serial, sequential touches within a selected area, in a brute force way? (I.e. left to right top to bottom, in given steps).
I'd like to be able to drag a rectangle on top of remote evf (which is showing in real time what the camera 'sees'), and the app should start 'touching', say, with a 50 by 50 pixels shift to the right and, when it reaches the 'eol', it cape returns and starts again since it reaches the lowest opposing edge.
This would require:
- a selectable delay among touches (required to the camera for refocusing and saving the taken shot)
- a selectable area with eg multitouch actions. Top would be a sort of 'lazo' designing tool to drag irregular shapes (think about takimg pics of a flower or an insect with this approach)
- configurable 'stepping' distance among touches
Is it possible? If anybody wants to do it, I'd be more than happy to betatest it. I'd like the app for free (for myself) but it could then be sold to other samsung camera users.

Huawei P30 Tips and Tricks

Use these tips to get the most out of your Huawei P20 Pro.
Screen Recording
Instead of relying on a third-party app for screen recording, EMUI has a great screen recorder baked into the system.
To activate screen recording, hold power + vol up. Then you will be asked to select your audio input. There is no limit to the amount of time that you can record, so just make sure you have enough space. I made a 1:20:00 recording and it ended up being 2.6GB, but this will change depending on your screen resolution. Your recordings will save as an .mp4 file.
The screen recording feature is very useful and has several features that you would normally have to pay for in a third party app. The ability to record for an unlimited amount of time, and record system audio are usually only accessible through premium screen recording apps.
Huawei Home
The default launcher that comes with EMUI is called Huawei Home which is a very customizable launcher. The homescreen is simple and displays the time, a wallpaper, and the amount of steps you’ve taken that day. In the home settings, you can choose custom transitions, toggle app icon badges, create a custom icon grid and more.
For a default launcher, it’s pretty good. If they could get a better selection of icons, it would really improve the look of everything.
Private Space
Private Space is a separate account where you can hide all of your private files, photos, videos and apps. You setup this account with a pin and fingerprint password. After you’re all set up, you can access your private space by pressing the fingerprint sensor which will log you in to your separate account. Your main fingerprint will be used for your primary account and a separate fingerprint will be used to access your private space. It’s really fast and secure, which makes this a great EMUI feature.
Private Space is kind of a hidden feature that not many people know about or use but it is very useful. After using it for a bit, you’ll come to rely on a separate space for all of your files and apps that you need to keep secret.
Color mode & temperature
The Color Mode & Temperature adjustments let you fine-tune the colors on your screen. You can choose between Normal and Vivid mode based on how saturated you’d like your screen to be. Color Temperature adjustment will help you make your colors as accurate as possible. Adjust it until your whites are as white as they can be, blues are blue ect.

Screen always adds a "vivid" type effect when watching videos full-screen in landscape(?)

Hi - I've noticed whenever I watch a video full-screen in landscape on my Mate 20 X (either streaming or something I've downloaded), the screen ALWAYS automatically adds a sort of vivid type effect... nothing major - but definitely noticeable (and not wanted a lot of the time!). Is this a common feature for the model... and is it possible to switch it off? Thanks.
Just wanted to add: I've had three Mate 20 X's - and they ALL do this... it's quite frustrating and takes the gloss of an otherwise near-perfect phone
You must be able to turn this off somehow!? Is there a special or hidden menu anywhere? Grrrr
