[Q] CM11 ROM with "Cast Screen" Fully Working!! - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note 3

There at least 4 or 5 CM11 AOSP Custom ROMz on this T-Mobile NOTE 3 SM-N900T (HLTETMO) forum.
But none of the CM11 Kangs have a working Miracast (Settings/Display/Cast Screen) in the settings section.
All of the developers have swited the Kernels so the Cast Screen function doesn't work but on the main CM Downloads page the latest ROM of Jan. 30. 2014 the Miracast/ Cast Screen feature works just fine. It works perfect. I need the developers like BeanStalk to upload a patch or Fix or zip to upload to get there Miracast working on there ROMS.
I need the Patches or Fixes or Terminal Emulator or ROOT EXPOLORER Direction to switch or alter whateva script I gotta alter to get the Miracast
Feature fully working on the BeanStalk, Temaseks ROMS (SlimKat or v50), Carbon ROM, Sinless ROM or IOAP CM R or official CM team to please please add the Cast Screen feature back on or just UPLOAD THE PATCH PLEASE. I BEEN LOOKIN EVERYWHERE AND I CANT GET IT WORKING.
PLEAZE SOMEBODY CONTRIBUTE TO THE PATCH OR FIX AND ILL DO A REVIEW AND POAT IT ON YOUTUBE....
THIS IS Mental ROOTz. I need some Kernel Hacks in a major way!
All CM11 Custom ROMS have no Miracast/Cast Screen working besides the AOKP ROMs but the AOKP has no VPN (tun.ko module) working.
While all the other custom CM Roms besides the Official CM11 have no Miracast/Cast Screen working.
Is there any CM11 NOTE 3 ROM with both " Cast Screen" and "VPN" working???
So I can block T-Mobiles HotSpot Upsell page and also use the "Asus Miracast Dongle" mirror my phone on the TV with nooooo problems.
Please somebody upload a zip or instructions on how to change a script in the file system to get my Miracast working right?
Thank U....

I can't believe nobody cares about Miracast or the Cast Screen feature in 4.4.2....I find this crazy....any developers will in to pitch in??
Any developers will in to pass the script or workbthus out with me??

You are not the only one, friend! There are NO KitKat roms for the GS3, either, with working Miracast. I'm stuck on AOKP 4.3 for now.

Its sad that TV OUT on ASOP has alwayz been overlooked by the majority of people on XDA Developers and now that we have "MiraCast" it is still being terriably overlooked. Nobody knows about "Cast Screen" in the SETTINGS Menu under "DISPLAY"or even talks about it. Nobody on XDA even reports it as a known issue on CM11.
Please my fellow Tech Heads Please! "NFC" and! "Cast Screen" are not working on CM11.
Will we continue to overlook TV OUT forever???
When we had MHL throught Micro USB issues for CM7 through CM10.2 we couldnt get samsung source code so we could neva
Get the Micro USB "MHL" feature working right and we had all these MHL adapter issues. Samsung kept switching what adapter works for each Galaxy S model. It was confusing.
Now we have a easy wireless solution and this feature is still no working and being ignored
Its sad becuz it works on the T-Mobile NOTE 3 CM11 Rom (HLTETMO) but they ended
Development on tht rom on Jan.30.2014.....
But miracast works great on that rom. So if any body wants Miracast on CM11 for the TMobile NOTE 3 click on this link:
http://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=hltetmo&type=nightly
But if u want VPN apps to work and block T-Mobiles HOTSpot upsell page
Then u must use the N9005/HLTE ROM (not the N900T/HLTETMO) because VPN Apps dont work on the Stock 4.4.2 the tun.ko module is missing from the kernel to get the VPNs working properly But that is fixed on the N9005/HLTE CM11 Kernel and almost all the ROMs on the T-Mobile NOTE 3 Forum are just copying the exact N9005/HLTE CM11 Kernel....you can find the N9005/HLTE Link here:
http://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=hlte&type=nightly
Its a sad day for XDA. These are truely sad times for the progression of mircast and tv out.....nobody knows and nobody cares and nobody talks about it. Anyway i will blow up the issue and put it out there as much as i can.
The 1st developer to fix this issue will be heavily glorified by me. And creating a website about this topic only and will be posting videos...
This is overlooked on ALL XDA forums....
Anyway ill keep posting and protesting this....
I will shoot a video soon about this situation.....

Can you tell me which AOKP 4.3 you use with working Miracast?
Any news on this at all?

Have you tried the bubbleupnp app. That's what I use to stream to my Samsung TV and ps3 on CM ROMs.

Hi guys
You doesn't need any of the patches or 3rd party apps.
You just need to follow these steps in order to use cast screen in custom roms:
1. Just enable wifi 'on'
2.Open cast & it shows all available devices:fingers-crossed:

HDMI mirroring sideways in cm 10.1 (4.2.1)

not sure if this is a known bug or something im messing up, but i just tried to HDMI mirror on my TV and it shows as landscape sideways...basically its landscaped sideways, sort of looks like a youtube video recorded in portrait mode sideways. I dont have much experience with HDMI mirroring but im getting the appradio 2 soon and wondering if there is something im missing in settings on my tv or in the rom settings, etc....hope what im explaining make sense
this is the cable im using.. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006V7F380/ref=oh_details_o01_s01_i01
I tested all the non-stock based roms and they all have the same issue... I use the HDMI-out a lot, isnt there a fix or something like that?

Yep, mine is different. And it works flawlessly with LiteRom and other stock-based roms. Also I have the same issue like you with CM 10.1, AOKP and others. Staying in ICS- Touch Wiz when we have pure JB isn't funny

THIS is my third post, I can't post in development section yet. I've seen your post in CM10.1 thread, but it looks like no one cares about HDMI-out, and thats something understandable because there are things more important to fix. Hope never dies, we have to wait for a fix...
your complaint is legitimate, I also can confirm these issues.. also the sounds are played on the phone when connected, but they should be played on the tv, hope the devs will fix it
Anything has changed with the last updates?

I don't have that cable to test it and I believe neither the owners of the other ROMs have it. Post some pics and logcat while you connect the hdmi out to the TV, it might have a clue of where to look for correction of orientation.

I can confirm this bug as well
I can confirm this bug as well and it is not related to the HDMI cable. I used the same with CM 7.2 and there the display on the TV was shown correctly. With CM 10.1 the display on the TV is always sideways no matter how I rotate the mobile.
I hope this bug can be fixed soon as I also use the HDMI connection quite often for music and videos
Does anybody know where I can find the official bug list or where such issues can be officially posted?

[ROM][CDMA][4.3.1] PAC-Man for SCH-I800 and SPH-P100

Hey guys, I recently found an SPH-P100 in a dumpster (score! :victory and I was quite disappointed to see that there's a terrible lack of development for these devices. As such, I've forked the newest device configuration available on github, and I'll be working to release a wider variety of ROMs and to complete hardware support as much as possible. Unfortunately, there is very little I can do to address the complete lack of 3G support, as I have no service whatsoever on my device.
Now, the ROM! This is a clean build of PAC-man 4.3 for p1c. I have removed the hardcoded verizon-specific properties and model identifiers as a first step towards proper support of both Verizon and Sprint models, but no functionality is changed from the newest CM10.1 builds.
I notice that there are not any PAC builds for p1(l|n) posted either, so if there is adequate interest I may begin builds for those devices as well.
TWRP 2.6.3.0 is the included recovery, and has full SELinux support. (Compatible with KitKat ROMs!)

You are definately right. As of right now, there are no developers working on the p1c. The last one i remember was stimp0z, and his son broke his tab. So, all the developers are now gsm based. Terenceng does have a kit kat version for the p1c. I have it on my other tab. Anyway, the developers all went to kit kat.
If i can be of help, let me know.

first up - great to see someone working on development for the p1c - good score finding one in the bin!
to make things clearer - i was never a developer for the p1c, my old tablet (the p1 GSM version) was broken by my youngest son recently. my work on the p1c was purely guess work / diagnosed via my testers. p1c lost it's support from it's main developer (jt1134) before kernel 3.0 was released so without a developer to work on p1c related issues, it was hit and miss all the way. both humberos and myself had it booting, but it never worked with data (though attempts were made). now due to a generous donation from one of my CDMA testers, i will soon receive a Sprint tablet he has spare so i can continue developing - which means it will be a lot easier for me to work on issues facing the CDMA variants (but will never be able to test data myself as I live in Australia, not USA).
however - the more developers that work on the p1c the better, so please keep working on whatever you can - also working on something different to CM is definitely called for as i believe the users deserve a choice between custom ROMS for their SGT7.
if you wish to have a crack at data already - shoot me a pm and i'll give you some commits to look into that may help you on your way.
I am another P1C user, the last build around here that worked for me was alrodger's 4.1.2
Terenceng's does not work on my P1C, I am on verizon and it doesn't find the carrier and never activates.
P1C is only $75 on ebay these days for refurbished, great value.
I was kinda hoping to find a kitkat build for p1c that works but none exists and doesn't seem forthcoming by anyone.
I guess I will try 4.3.1
Does this have working usb and wifi tether? That's a biggie for me.
---------- Post added at 06:43 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:19 PM ----------
Okay I get the same failure trying to install this that I got with alrodger's final build.
using TWRP from the last kitkat flash, I wipe everything except the external sd card
then I try to install the rom and I get
assert failed: getprop("ro.product.device") ==
and a long list of devices
does that mean I have a device not in that list?
it then says
"E:Error executing updater binary in zip"
Also on 4.1.2 on my Sprint tab 7. I'm downloading and will give it a run. I dont have 3G but I'll report back after install.
terenceng is working on 4.4 and has "Coming Soon" for the PC1 but been a while. so now one is working on 4.4.
thanks ultravioletnanokitty for giving the P100 some love.
Update : ROM installed with out issue also used PAC gapps. WiFi OK camera OK feels quicker than 4.1.2. So all good for last 30 minute of use. Thanks for this rom dude nice job.
Cheers
update: okay I remembered how to get back to basics and I used heimdall to sideload cwm bootloader recovery
very fun looking rom, however it suffers from the same problem as Terenceng's:
it does not find the verizon radio/carrier and crashes when I try to manually activate it

Hi again, as stated before I do not have 3G connection plan on my Sprint tab, So I cannot test connectivity to 3G. All other functionality I can test.
Rom working nicely, few issues with following apps:
Netflix: movie never starts playing
Youtube: video never starts playing, "There was a problem while playing, Touch to retry"
Pandora: Audio does not start
Google Play Music: Audio does not start
Timely alarm clock: The set time to ring caused app stop
Navigation in all these apps is OK just issue when playing something
Apps working well:
iHeartRadio: Working OK
Gmail: Ok
Camer: pictures OK
Ebay: seems to be working ok but have not tested placing a bid
Let me know what else I can check, weekdays have little time to test but should be able to get something done.
Let me know what you want me to check or report on?
Cheers

media playback is flat-out broken in all p1x 4.3+ roms, i believe... also, i've never found charging while the device is on to work at all... if i leave it plugged into my laptop with the screen off overnight, it gets up to 99%. if i want to fully charge it the only option i've found is to power it off and plug it in. i don't have the original samsung charger or cable, though, so that could be it. regarding the keyboard, are you using gapps? i am on my tab, and i don't have any issues... it could be an issue with the aosp keyboard, though.
I just also recently picked up one of these guys, my actual intentions for mine is to get it on verizon prepaid using a extravert as a donor phone and tethering the 3g. I seen a guy offering a service to flash them but I am a bit unsure I would rather do it myself. Have you ever looked into this yet. You might get more bars with verizon than you do with sprint. Plus at like 10 bux a month unlimited internet isn't tp bad ( if you buy a $30 card good for 3 monthes IE $10 a month)
Let me know if I can be of assitance, Looking to flash a light weight rom.

It is my understanding (but not firsthand experience) that verizon can detect this within a couple of months and kill the imei, so be careful.

Lets say I work for Verizon in a department that has privy info and tools at my disposal and I will tell you we have a tool called MVD it is a Mobile Virtual Diagnostic it can detect root and will show if the tool is run. The thing is it is only loaded for tools that have the most current version of My Verizon application installed 10.0 or higher. Anything prior to that it won't load your info so root can't be seen with general tech tools. Just FYI... I am happy you all are working on SCH-I800 But I can't seem to find the the Root and Tar files to load... Any image files link?

Well, that explains the lack of sound and the fact that all video apps crash.
Seriously though, this ROM is a significant improvement for me compared to Cyanogenmod 9.1 (4.0.4). My Tab is far more stable than it was, and has only crashed on me once, forcing me to do a factory reset.
Can I flash back to an earlier ROM, say 4.2.2 or 4.0.4, without bricking my Tab? I have seen on the AT&T Galaxy S 3 (SGH-i747) board that S 3s that updated OTA to 4.3 will hard brick if flashed to an older ROM, so I am concerned.
Also, how close in hardware is the p1c to the Galaxy S GT-i9000? I have several i9000 ROMs on my computer, and if it is close enough, I might be able to get media working on mine. Worth a try. :fingers-crossed:

[Q] CM11 4.4.2 VPN Fix or Patch

I like using the OFFICIAL! CM11 4.4.2 Roms because it is the only ROM that has the "CAST SCREEN" (Miracast) option working under the...
Settings/Display/Cast Screen....
I use the new Asus Miracast HDMI Dongle and the Google Chrome Cast Dongle and need the Miracast.
The problem is that stock CM11 can't use VPNs mainly becu. I think the tun.ko file is missing. I've tried everything to fix it. Even installed the tun.ko installer apk from the market and it doesn't work.
But other 3rd Developer Roms have a there VPNs working but there Miracast feature is broken. Please please please somebody anybody please
Post the patch or fix for stock CM11 on the T-Mobile NOTE 3 so that I can re enable the VPN feature. I use Droid VPN and HideNinja VPN and HotSpot Sheild VPN but it says I Dont have the tun.ko module not installed in the Kernel.
Please beanstalk and temasek both have it working. Everybody has it working besides cyanogen.
Please give me the script to insert or a working kernel to flash or some ROOT Explorer or Terminal Emulator instructions to fix this problem.
I Dont know what else to do?? I've looked everywhere for the tun.ko module for the NOTE 3 SM-N900T/HLTETMO and can't find it.
I haven't slept in 3 days please Will03 or Team Nocturnal please help me to fix the patch. REALLY ALL I WANT IS A CYANOGENMOD11 ROM THAT HAS VPN CLIENTS WORKING AS WELL AS HAS THE "CAST SCREEN" (Miracast) Do gle working as well. Nobody has mention the Miracast function on CM11 and I can't imagine why?
Mentel ROOTz
There is a lot of Devsbout there who have the VPNs working. Is there nobody who can lend a helping hand or an script for the tun.ko modulebor the root explorer method to switch a time or edit the build.prop or something??
I trying to included thatvin a ROM and share it with the rest of the XDA NOTE 3 community. I'll give full credit to any existing developer who assists me in this process.....thanks again

Any Custom ROM (better 4.4 or higher) supporting MHL to TV?

Hi All,
I really need the MHL function of the Note 2 to be connected to TV's HDMI. But I cannot find any custom ROM supporting it.
I tried the CM11, SlimKat, ... None of them has MHL. (well it's weird that SlimKat on Sprint Galaxy S3 supporting MHL, but Note 2 version doesn't)
I'll appreciate if anyone can give some idea on this issue. Just any CUSTOM (not stock) 4.4+ ROM having the MHL support.
Thanks.

Hi,
MHL function is available only in Stock based custom ROMs. Eg, Omni ROM.
Thank you for the reply.
Since the Omni Rom thread had been closed, can you advice here what are the advantages of the Omni Rom, now that it's stock-based? Or why not just use the stock ROM?
And is there any other Stock based ROM with good reputation? In fact I only care the stock functions like MHL, PEN, ...
Thanks again.

I have no clue what makes you think Omni is a stock based rom. Omni is an aosp based rom. Stock based roms are based off of touchwiz which will have mhl/hdmi along with full spen functions.
So for the l900 you would need to use rwilcos stock based rom, Alliance, or Community rom.

Thanks but seems like the Omega rom only supports N7100, not Sprint SPH-L900.
There are many cases the Sprint version Note 2 was excluded from the custom rom developing.
Interesting but regretful.

my device is Note 2 LTE t0lte
and I have similar needs for MHL too.
I tried slimKat 4.4.4 build 9.0.................................it doesnt work
liquidsmooth LS-LP-v4.0..............................................doesnt work
omni-4.4.4-NIGHTLY..........................................................doesnt work
[5.0.2][OFFICIAL]Team UB ROM...............................doesnt work
[4.4.2] AllianceRom..............................................................doesnt work
[SaberMod] CM12+ Unofficial Build
(this one states it supports HDMI)...............still doesnt work
I know 100% that Alliance and Community rom both work with mhl/hdmi output on the l900 (sprint note 2). You can also try DN3 which also works. I use this feature all the time. I use the media dock and have hdmi, keyboard, and mouse connected. No aosp rom has mhl compatibility!!
If you are having issues with touchwiz roms and mhl these are a few things to check.
1. Mhl adapter needs to be designed specifically for Samsung device
2. You need external power supply for mhl to work (needs to be 2 amp output)
When you connect to your device and TV device should display hdmi connected.

Can you please give a working link for the "Alliance and Community rom" of SPH-L900?
I did search hard but didn't even get a download place for the Sprint version Note II.
Please note we better say a ROM of 4.4+, instead of any JB or older version, which was too old to be used.
Thanks.

Thank you for the list that complete. I eventually found someone on the same boat but more diligent
But I felt more pathetic with your info. It's really ridiculous to exclude MHL out of the custom ROMs.
Just saw another mention of "Alliance and Community rom", and asked again for the source. Let's see if there's any surprise.

The reason custom (aosp) roms dont have mhl is because Samsung wont release the source code for the drivers. Without drivers things wont work.

Hello, thank you for your reply :good:
I'm sure my mhl adaptor is working ok as i could connect to TV on stock rom no trouble at all.
In testing hdmi mhl output on Alliance rom, i could see the screen being projected to TV, however it only lasted for a few seconds, and then my phone got frozen while tv screen was going black/blank. I can't figure out what went wrong........
Also, when trying those different roms, i always did a full wipe......

I know how you feel.......i myself googled a lot too.....but it's just not going anywhere......very frustrating indeed.
I even tried miracast function. In cm roms, i think it's called cast screen. But still no good luck.
With stock rom, it only works when it's not rooted.
If rooted, then hdcp has to be disabled. I tried but in vain.
With cm12 roms, i googled and found out it's not supported yet.
With cm11, there seems to be a fix for cast screen. But it still didn't work........
Thank you so much for the link.
The MHL works on this version!
But seems like the sPen function not working, since there's no "copy/cut" option pops up when I clipped an enclosed area from the screen.
Do I have to use TW native launcher / web browser (I'm using Nova Launcher and Dolphin browser) to enable this function?
I wish it's just a matter of configuration, since I assume either sPen or MHL shall be wholly supported by this TW based ROM.
I'll appreciate someone can verify this sPen symptom, and give some advice.
Thanks.

It is a give and take thing. Community is not a stock n2 rom. It is actually parts of n2, n3, and s5. The only thing left to fix on Community is the clipping function for the spen. Only I have quit working on Touchwiz roms.
So long answer short. It is a rom issue not a problem with user setup.

Thank you for the clarification. I didn't use sPen that much and just need to configure right.

Notes:
First boot takes 10 minutes
For sNote flash with twrp this archive: https://yadi.sk/d/EZ4cqQof3GfHbw Dont update it in galaxy apps. It will not work.
Not working:
camera
smart stay
screen mirroring
Known issues:
Haptic feedback does not work. Original tablet doesn't have vibrator.
You cant choose lock screen animation. Original firmware doesn't have that choice.
sNote from galaxy apps doesn't work.
mhl works with inverted colors in ui. videos play normally.

no
I do need the gps, a lot might install it later and make a TWRP image of it later for certain occasions
very excited to see MM available on the heavily neglected $1000 tab
does it have the same multi window style that the p900 had' drag from top corners to make floating window and swipe from side for tray?
I really don't like the new multi window style on the Note 5 / newer, seems inferior
Really want to flash this but don't want to lose gps either... decisions, decisions. Camera I can do without.
Some feedback
Hi, yesterday I tried your ROM and it's very nice !
Unfortunately, I enconter some bugs: GPS and Camera has you know but also bluetooth not working properly and Samsung Account not working.
Now I restored to the original one because I need the external keyboard.
Let's hopes you can clear out in the next build this bugs.
Just my feedback to help you.

Back up your previous rom and files onto an external micro sd? That's what I've done. I'm curious enough to try this on my trusty P900 and see what happens. I do hope bluetooth works for my well-used logitech keyboard. If not, it might be a short-lived experiment. But I have to encourage *anyone* who would venture out to aid this great piece of hardware with an update.
So... as soon as the download finishes.... (hopefully) I'll be back!
Installed this. **WOW**
Yes, Bluetooth works. I'm typing on my Logitech Keyboard via this rom right now.
Yes, soundcamp works a charm on this.
Yes, the touchwiz is nifty.
Yes, I rooted it with SuperSU v2.79 zip file (flashed from TWRP).
No camera? I've used mine maybe three times -- none of which led to good pictures -- since I owned this tablet. (Warning: if you open the camera app, it kinda locks up the tablet.)
No GPS? I have a phone.
Please... keep developing this! I am adopting it as my go-to rom for the present and likely for quite a while. Now... back to soundcamp! Oh, by the way... on a tablet soundcamp gives you *two* keyboards on one screen.
Thanks for making this ROM.
Can anyone post some screenshots?
I added photos in op
Gps fixed. I'm stuck with camera. I wanted to make rom without any modifications in framework. Now i'm with camera and externaldisplay. I think it's the same issue something there. If I cant solve it soon, so i will have to upload rom without camera.
Anyway I'm really happy with this rom, it's much faster and responsive than 5.0.2 stock or mm from tab s.
Installed but does not boot. Stuck on Samsung logo.
Any ideas? Thanks

Probably you didnt wait enough. First boot takes 12-15 min.
Or you didnt wipe data partition.
Eager to get the GPS - working version... but hey, until then... here's a couple snaps. My desktop. And Soundcamp's two keyboards on the Pro 12's screen. Second (Samsung) desktop wallpaper. And rom info from setup.
