Galaxy tab pro 8.4 dust/dead pixels - Galaxy Tab Pro 12.2, 10.1, 8.4 Q&A, Help & Trouble

My first two tab pros had 3-5 dead pixels under the screen and the current one now has 2-3 specks of dust under the screen. They were purchased from Amazon if that matters to anyone.
Has anyone else had these issues?

I have dust under the screen, I've bought from local retailer, Samsung repair center told me to wait for a month until they have parts to replace it.

My first Tab Pro 8.4 had a lot of dust/smudging in one corner. I bought it from Best Buy so I took it back. The replacement is fine.

Not the 8.4 but 12.2 tab pro from Amazon had a problem--either a group of dead pixels or sediment beneath the digitizer not just beneath the screen. The replacement had been opened (updated os plus re-taped) apparently to be inspected by Amazon. It has no issues although, ironically, there was a lot of debris inside the box of the replacement. Each was shipped from a different distribution center.

I must have gotten lucky with my 8.4. My wife is on her 3rd 10.1 right now. Dead pixel on the first one and the second one had some strange issue with the screen in one spot where it was too shiny or reflective. It wasn't a dead or stuck pixel. So far the 3rd one is good.

Almost makes me wonder if Amazon deals with B stock items, seems most of thr complaints come from there.
Rich

I had 2 dead pixels on my first one from best buy when they first came out. i exchanged it and knock on wood it has been perfect. luck of the draw imo

Got mine from Amazon early March and it appeared to be fine. This weekend I noticed a stuck pixel, and now in process of returning it.
Pity to hear about this, given Samsung is an A-brand.

[Q] Screen replacment

Hello, everyone I was just wondering if anyone knew why the galaxy s3 screen replacement is 5 times more than the iphone 4s screen. The s3 screen is around 230 on amazon and the iphone screen is only 40 some dollars. I was just wondering since I have replaced an iphone screen and it was pretty easy and cheap. So if I break my s3 screen its going to cost more to fix it than it is to get a new phone with my insurance. Unless someone knows where to get cheaper screens from. Thanks
My friend has an iphone fixing business and says it's almost impossible to get real oem screens and all the ones you see online are Chinese knockoffs.
40 is expensive btw for a Chinese one.
A real iphone screen is about 100 according to him though the 10 ones are just as good.
(though he buys in bulk from alibaba)

Replacing just the glass for the s3 should run you about $25 or so.
Screen plus the digitizer will run you closer to $300.

Hey brother listen. There a repair center for samsung called RSI here in dallas texas. Its located in plano and they offer repair services for warranty phones and they charged me exactly $165 to change out the screen and digitizer. I have proof on this on my receipt when I had mine done. Its legit oem gear, no china crap. Check it out

The digitizer is attached to the screen itself, isn't it? (I know that the iPhone 4/4S and 5 have the LCD, digitizer and screen all fused together)
Are there any reliable sources from where to buy SGH-i747(m) screens?
Aside from going straight to a Samsung repair center?
No sure. Just got a replacement screen off of eBay and although it says Samsung on it I have doubts it is an authentic OEM part.

[Q] LG Optimus G Dead/Stuck Pixels

I am really angry about this, this is already the 2nd optimus G I have got in less than 3 days and they both had dead pixels. I am really angry because everything about this phone is awesome. Anyone else having issues with dead or stuck pixels?
Even if I did probably wouldn't care because I can barely even see the pixels on this thing....This is a 600 phone not a 35k watch and even they have imperfections... hell everyone I know has imperfections from big ears to bad breath to a wart on their ass... It's a damn stuck pixel or two its not gonna kill ya... just let it go. I in fact go in and ask for a phone specifically with multiple stuck pixels and enjoy it... you will be a better man for it.. believe me.

Years ago dead pixels were an acceptable issue. But nowadays most companies offer guarantees of no dead pixels.. so why not take advantage of it, I know I would.

What are you using to check for dead pixels?

Eyes.
Just my guess. But seriously... I doubt if i could even see a dead pixel on this good of a screen but if thats a thing i noticed i'd say its definitely worth the return. Two years of annoyance isn't worth it. Coming from a guy with a samsung transform. *shudders*

I used the app called: LCD-Test
I spotted the dead/stuck pixel on the black screen. It was a white pixel on a black background. This is actually my 2nd Optimus G in 5 days, not very happy about this issue. I'm still debating whether or not I should exchange yet again, cause the previous one had a black pixel on a white background, which was more noticiable. Quality control looks like an issue, but I don't know.
I'm on a 5 day old Nexus 4 (purchased at a T-Mobile store), I believe they have the same display. Two days ago I found one dead black pixel (visible over any solid color background, most obvious over a white background). Today another one cropped up about an inch away. Its going to take a while before T-mo gets more in stock so I can swap this one out. At least our eyes are working.

I went through four 4X HD's cos of dead pixels and dust under the screen. Then gave up and went back to samsung

Just got the E971.
1 dead pixel, maybe multiple in the same spot, about the size of a pin head.
Pretty annoying cause the color from nearby pixels will bleed through and make it shine very brightly!
Disappointing.
Been through 4 Samsung's and countless blackberry's without this issue.
How can we check pixels and other? Any code *#1234# not work

[Q] Nexus 7 2013 bezel replacement

Hello there,
my N7 second Gen device unfortunately got damaged during transport. The small bezel between screen and back case of the device got cracked at one corner.
A search did not bring up any results concerning repair options or parts, therfore I would be very happy for any advice what I can do to fix my tablet. Is the bezel available as a replacement part (I hope so), or is more nescessary?
Best regards
Hans
You may need to contact them directly for the specific part to order: http://us.estore.asus.com
Cheapest and easiest thing to do is buy a refurbished N7 2013 or a used one with a good screen, then swap the guts (main pcboard) from yours to the replacement. I got one for about $140 from Woot.com last month after trying to find a cheaper replacement screen with no luck. The N7 2012 screen won't work, of course.
Now I have a spare battery and such in reserve !

Think my M7 is about to bite the dust

Yesterday I noticed my phone hot and noticed the screen was bulging trying to separate from the phone body. I placed in my apt AC vent and most of the swelling went down. So figure time for a new phone but not going with HTC this time. I have had HTC since the droid incredible and figure time for a change.
My question to you is go for the galaxy S6 edge or the Verizon nexus 6. I am looking for a good camera and sorry HTC has let me down on many of the previous phones I owned. I will keep my old M7 as still workable but that just in case as don't want to be without a phone. This had been a great community with many great ROMs except that darn Google one that my phone seemed to not like as it would only send one text and no more lol.
So guess this is kinda farewell but never posted much in here lol. So let's see what all you guys and gals suggest. Not looking for a note as it has to fit in my works shirt pocket lol. Less chance of breaking there than in my pants pockets.

The Nexus 6 is bigger than the Note but its also available for $299 new right now if you don't mind a phablet phone. There are two new Nexus models available for preorder from the google store, the 5P and 6X. The Droid Turbo2 is supposed to come out later this month but Moto updates have been slow lately. I would also look at the LG G4 right now.
My buddy has the S6 Edge and he likes it but says the curved screen doesn't really add anything to the phone. I've also read some complaints about strange reflections due to the curved edges. If I had to get a Samsung today I would probably grab a used S5 off eBay in good condition for about $200. You get a sdcard slot and removable battery with the S5.
I currently have a Droid Turbo and like it but I just grabbed a M7 off eBay for cheap last night because I missed this phone. Also the wife has been complaining about her Moto X a lot so I will probably give her my Turbo to shut her up. Good luck with your new phone whatever it may be.

Broken screen, options.

So about a month ago I was sitting in class with a group of my kids when one of them came over with his computer went to show me his screen knocked my stainless steel tumbler onto the corner of my screen and broke it. Principal said that sucks but wasn't interested in getting the kids parents involved was hoping replace the screen. I'm seeing a range of 200 to $220 for replacing the screen. I didn't see putting that much money into a year old phone and succumbs to the pressure of getting the OnePlus 6t. Should I sell the phone as it is, fix the screen and sell it? After watching my brother sale three different times replacing his s8 screen I don't think I want to try it myself. I am liking this 6t A LOT, the camera is a huge step down

I would sell as is and get a cheap phone to hold me down until the Pixel 4 XL.
Or you you could always install the Pixel 3 camera on the 6T and get improved results.

You can sell it for about $200-$230 depending on storage as is on Ebay and it will probably sell quick assuming the back didn't get dinged too. If you put $200 into a screen it'll sell for about $440 and you still make about the same amount profit after all is said and done. Save yourself the headache and put it on eBay as is.

I had my screen replaced 2 weeks ago - I dropped the phone on solid tiles when I came home at 5AM and wasn't exactly sober :silly:
Here in Germany the screen cost €180 and the total bill for the repair was €250.
My Pixel 2 XL still has 2 years or more life expectancy, so I think it was worth the cost. I wouldn't want to go back to a non-Google device, not even a OnePlus.
Update. I've been on the Op6t since mine was broken, right around launch . I came back to my broken pixel to try Android q, it just feels like home again. Part of me wants to sell the op and fix the screen..
