[Q] Reset this tab? - Galaxy Tab 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys, This come into our shop the customer had forgotten the screen lock password.
When I go into recovery to do a factory reset / wipe , it wont let me select it, it "jumps" past it when moving the bar up and down. The bar only moves if I "double click" the vol +/- , but it goes past factory reset.
Tried going in with SRS root but still no luck.
Any ideas?

Watch THIS video about this issue.
This is for CWM but it is the same issue with stock recovery.
Just use the volume up/down and even if the highlight doesn't change, hit the power button to choose the option you want.

Superb.
You were absolutely right, that worked perfectly.
Many thanks.

In your phone, open the dialler and enter *#*#7378423#*#* to access the service menu.
Go to the last option.. I forgot the name. And click on reset configuration.. It will do a factory reset.
Note : All data on internal memory will be wiped.
You could just reflash using pcc or seus using the repair function when phone is in flash mode.
This will install new software and delete all files of phone.
If all else fails try this.

Defy stuck at Android Logo screen!!!

Hello guys,
My defy is stuck at the android logo thingy It goes through red M logo but is stuck at that android logo. My defy(MB525) is rooted. I havent installed any custom roms or anything of that kind(plan to learn and do that later when I am done with my final exams). Just simple root(so that I could take screenshots and stuff)! I tried removing the battery and restarting it...But didnt help. After a while the device got unusually hot so i removed the battery and kept the piece aside! I am not able to figure out what wrong happened in the first place( The phone was lagging so I tried to restart it..usually works fine)..:/
I am very new to this stuff. Can somebody help me to fix this?
Cheers,
Roshan
It's stuck on the android with the exclamation mark? (this one)
If so, then press both volume buttons at the same if your phone is on Gingerbread for the menu to show up.
If you are on Froyo, then the menu should show up after pressing buttons below the screen or lower parts of the screen (never could quite figure it out).
The menu that shows up is Android Recovery (or Android stock recovery). Try doing a "wipe cache" and then rebooting. If it goes back into the same menu, then "wipe data" should solve it. That will delete all your settings, but don't worry about your pictures and stuff, it's all on the memory card, as you know.
Anyways, what did you use to root it? This shouldn't have happened, really :S
Yes it worked!!
niksy+!!!
Dude it worked.:victory: I had to factory reset the whole thing(data+cache) but I really don't mind its totally okay! I am very very grateful for your timely help and you just saved my ass(My dad would have been really pissed)! Thank you so much!:good::highfive:
I am still on froyo for now!
And just for your information(since you were not sure) tapping the lower portion of the screen didn't work. I was trying various combinations...and that menu appeared. The combination(after the exclamation mark appears on the screen) that worked is volume up down. One has to to press volume up and down, up and down till the menu appears!
I used to SuperOneClick to root.. apparently the root is still preserved(I thought the device will unroot itself when I factory reset it)! Why do you think there was a better way to root it?
Once again....Billion thanks to you buddy!
And to XDA: You people are just ...AWESOME! \m/!!!!!!

[Q] Droid Incredible won't respond to hard reset because of clockword mod ...Help!

Hello! Right now, my brother's in the process of doing a hard reset on his droid incredible. He noticed that he kept on receiving the infamous low on disc space/memory icon on his screen and wanted to do a hard reset to start fresh. However, after he selected the factory reset option he noticed thateverything remained on the phone, messages, apps and all. Nothing got erased! We've tried resetting the phone countless times only to realize that everything remains the same, and the low memory message still appears. We've made minor progress after contacting HTC and having them guide us through a factory reset but hit a roadblock once we discovered that the previous owner of the phone had installed Clockwork Mod Recovery. The rep said that this is completely out of HTC's scope and that we "must disable Clockwork Mod Recovery and have the phone flashed". We had plans on giving the phone away to a friend but now we're completely stumped and clueless as to what we should do to erase the content and set the phone back to its original settings. Any advice?
Have u tried wiping from clockwork?

Sorry for the late reply. No I haven't tried it yet. What steps would we need to take in order to do that? Thanks!
with phone powered off, hold -volume button and hit power button and release. you should boot into a white screen-this is HBOOT. there should be a menu item called recovery. select that and hit power button, that should boot you into CWM.
there should be a menu item for factory reset/wipe cache.

[Q] How to enter recovery mode using key combination?

I can use "adb reboot recovery" to enter TWRP 2.7 recovery mode, but I want to use key combination, please tell me how to that.
Hold Power + Vol Down > Wait until LG Logo pops up and release from both buttons > quickly hold Power + Vol Up + Vol Down again
It will pop up with some message about reset to factory settings, but it's all a bluff.
Hit Power x3 times to confirm and you'll get to TWRP recovery
Thanks, it works.
actually I enter this factory reset mode before, but i just don't know it a "fake".
so will this erase all data or not?

That will depend on whether you've installed TWRP or not.
If you've still got the original recovery it will wipe it like it says it will, if you've got a custom recovery it will take you to it.
The standard recovery isn't a recovery like you're expecting it to be, if just has a way of resetting things to default without allowing you to do anything extra. OEM don't like giving people options but want a way to reset to defaults that the customer can use before needing to return a faulty unit which might not be faulty. If that makes sense.

Thought I'd lost recovery after flashing the lp rom. Sorry for the bump! Many thanks and lol at the 'bluff' factory reset!

From what I can tell, it's not a "bluff". It seems that the stock recovery partition would just automatically do a factory reset, so it warns you before booting the recovery partition. Seeing as you're non-stock, it just boots into TWRP/CWM. It's a valid warning that's simply set up in a weird way.

You don't.
We'll you might be able to but you're going about it the wrong way.
First you need to find the right forum for your device, then you read, followed by more reading.
At some point you've hopefully discovered that you should have done all this reading before you reset your device.
Also before pressing the post button on your next post, read it first to make sure it makes sense.
Thank you very much, I tried other combinations found on some web pages that failed. This one worked!
Issue remains.

I got myself in a pretty bad situation. I have the stock rom. I am trying to get that back using recovery but it's not working. Only factory reset screen. This tablet stopped working in 2015. It cannot write ANY data ANYWHERE. Can't take pics, Can't take screenshots, Can't download apps. Nothing. I really want my tablet back... :/

I'm probably not the best person to help, however if you put a new post up with more details on what you have access too, the community will be able to help out.

Install LG software on your computer first. Then with the tablet completely off, hold VolUp and plug the tablet into the computer. That will enter LG download mode. Use the LG software on your PC to install the latest firmware available for your device. From there you can use the guides on this forum to go custom if you so desire.

That's strange. Try to format using the recovery menu. Once the phone turns off, press and hold both the Power and Volume Down buttons, until the phone enters the Recovery Mode.
