[Q] Google Play Edition Roms - One (M8) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I currently have an ATT HTC One (2013) and run the Google Play Edition roms on it, since in essence all GSM variants of the phone were the same and roms could run fine on all of them.
Is this the same for the M8? I really dont want to spend the extra $50 on the GPE, I rather just get the Unlocked Dev edition and flash a GPE rom. Will this be possible. Are there any upsides to buying the GPE?

Google Edition Silver color

Hi, I have a question regarding the color availability for the Google Edition of the HTC One M8, if I check at the Play store it seems to be SILVER color, but it doesn't say anything
https://play.google.com/store/devices/details/HTC_One_M8_Google_Play_edition?id=htc_m8
If I check the HTC web site I can only pick for the developer edition GREY or BRONZE

Is the Developer Edition at HTC different than the Google Edition at the Play store?, bottom line I am looking for a SILVER color, thanks
The only ones that have silver is Verizon and the Google play edition.. The other carriers only have the gun metal gray and gold.. For now anyway..
And yes the developer edition is different than the one on the play store.. I would advise you on reading the reviews and differences videos that are on the Web.. There are plenty of sites that go over the differences.. The only difference between the developer edition and a carrier version is 1. Bootloader is unlocked.. 2. No carrier bloat.. But runs the same software as the carrier version.. Developer edition gets updated faster than carrier editions but kit by much.. The GPE gets updates very quickly..

Thanks, I think the "unlocked" version at HTC.com has the silver color as well. Do you know if the Unlocked or Google Edition phones will work fine leveraging all the LTE bands with T-Mobile in the US?
The Google Edition does support the T-Mobile bands.. I'm not sure about the other versions..

[Q] Harman Kardon HTC one m8 unlocked?

I know the HK edition is only available for sprint which in my case is not a good thing. I was wondering If it's possible to find a htc one m8 HK edition unlocked?
Now I know people are going to say why don't you get a regular htc one m8 and just convert it into a HK edition well the thing is I want the HK edition because of the black color. I think the black color looks incredibly amazing.

[Q] Which One to choose?

I plan to change my HTC One HTC Dev Ed to One (M8). Currently versions are: AT & T, Sprint, Verizon, T Mobile, Unlocked and Developer Edition, but the latter two are very expensive in my country compared to other versions ...
Since I plan to use many mods and roms, what do you recommend buying?

[Q] Want to convert HTC One M8 Dual Sim to a GPE

Hi I really want to convert my HTC One M8 Dual Sim edition to a Google Play Edition phone, as it seems HTC has forgotten all about the One M8 Dual Sim edition (I'm still on KitKat).
For that reason I really want to convert the phone to a Google Play edition, my only concern is, is the Google Play Edition compatible with the Dual Sim? Dual Sim is really important for me, so do I still get to keep all of the features of Dual Sim?

Moto z Play droid

Hello just had a quick question. Considering buying this phone due to the insane battery life and wanted to know which version I should buy if I wanted to install custom ROMs. Would the Moto z play droid version from verizon allow me to install ROMs? I'm guessing no because its Verizon, and their phones are usually locked (boot loader wise) but just wanting to make sure. Or would I need the international gsm version?

There are 3 versions of the Z Play, all with the initial ID prefix of XT1635:
-01- Verizon, locked Bootloader
-02- International/GSM, BL unlock capable
-03- Chinese, BL unlock capable but set as RETCN and lacking many US bands.
I almost purchased an XT1635-03 off of Gearbest/Banggood because it was only $250 USD, but turns out while it can be used with custom ROMs it's missing quite a few crucial network bands for use in the US.
Just waiting for the X4 release/fall sales and will probably snag a Z Play for cheap.
