Low brightness? - LG Optimus G (International)

I would like to ask as a new owner of LG Optimus G, model E975.
I owned Optimus 4X HD before and this mobile is better in all ways except one thing which is brightness of display.
It seems very low to me.
I compared it to HTC One X, Sony Xperia M, Iphone 5, Optimus 4X and all have significantly brighter display.
I have also a problem to read a display under sunlight.
I would like to ask, how do you see brightness of your Optimus G comparing to other phones?

In which terms?
It looks really better, contrast is noticeably better, but you mean it have also better (I mean higher) maximum brightness?

Adjust brightness slider at 50% and switch on auto mode . Brightness should work fine indoor and in sunlight .

Galaxy S2 VS Optimus V

I was comparing the GS2 to my old Optimus V, and it's build quality is kinda of better than our GS2, also the colors look a lot more natural in the Optimus V.
I wonder if anybody tried this too?
Pics: White on optimus v's lowest brightness is about the highest on GS2.
These pics were taken on a 4 year old digital camera. GS2's camera focus is better.
A fix is in the works!
[Dev/info] Supercurio's progress on the screen fix.
The Optimus V is garbage and what was the point of the first picture?
If brightness matters to you, you should keep your Optimus V. The brightness on my GS2 is more than enough for me, and negates any excess battery drain.
I wish I could turn the brightness down farther on my SGS2.
Im guessing he did not take the auto brightness off which makes this phone super bright.

This. In settings there is an option to auto adjust screen brightness. Uncheck it.
Swyped from my iPhone eater
-OTA w/ faux kernel
-Supercharged 1000HP
I know about everything you guys said, im not talking about brightness, but also colors.
I wanted to show you by doing a video comparision but my old camera looks shows no difference in the video, so i decided not to post it. You should try comparing it with an htc sensation or any other 4 in smartphone. It just feels like the colors are kinda of cold?

GS2 vs Optimus V

Well, this might seem silly but i've got my old phone and tried to see which one is better.
The Optimus V has better colors to my eyes, more natural and it is the same colors as my LED monitor.
Also, the speaker quality and volume is a lot higher than both my GS2 and my friends Driod Razr. The quality of the Optimus V's speaker is also better than the iPhone but about the same volume. This makes all these $500+ phones ashamed, and i feel sick that my old $100 Android phone is better than my $600 GS2!
I wonder which screens would look more like LED monitors like my Optimus V, as i really hate Super Amoled now!
(sorry for bad grammar)

Optimus V has one of the lower quality displays, that phone CANNOT have better display than this.
To each their own...sell ur gs2 and be happy with your optimus then.

I might I agree with sound cause our speaker is to low but lg has the worst screens on their phones there screen isn't even close to the GS2

I know its a crappy display, but if you compare colors in apps and icons it looks alot brighter, natural than our GS2. i'm obviously not talking about resolution or anything. You would be able to tell unless you have a Optimus V next to your GS2. If i had a decent camera i would show you guys.

Well, the downside of the Optimus is slow data and the display is too small. Otherwise if it was 4 inch and T-mobiles "4g" i would switch..

Seems silly.. Ill agree with the speaker being a bit low, but its not to bad..
But as for the screens I think maybe your LED monitor that your using as a way of comparing needs calibration. The SGS2 has a Super AMOLED Plus display.. the colors are much better than on your optimus...
I came from an Optimus V. This phone is much better. The Optimus feels like a toy in comparison. But I do have to say the optimus is damn near magical. It's a tough little guy and a good starting point for people new to Android. The development on that phone is crazy. They have roms from three different Android OSes. Not bad for a cheapo phone on an even cheaper network that shipped with Froyo.

After coming from an HTC Sensation, the speaker on the GS2 is awesome. I played with my friend's Optimus V. It crashes all the time. The colors look washed out. And yeah it's louder, but the overall quality is bad. He said he would buy my GS2 to get rid of his crappy phone and get on a real network as well. I mean really? 3G only?

I agree, the Optimus V took alot of beating from me. I even played football with it and threw it around and nothing happend to it.
But, if you compare the colors side by side on 100% brightness, the SG2 colors look washed out somehow. If you don't believe me try it yourself.

I think I will. My girl has the OV now. She always gets my hand-me downs.
In a side note, I wish JerryScript had this phone. I really miss IHO BACKside.

I have a hard time taking this thread seriously. The Optimus V has one of the worst screens I have seen. My wife was tired of apps causing the Optimus V to reboot and the slow data.

LG Announces Worlds Slimmest Full HD mobile LCD Display. certified

Seems like Lg will be the leader on full HD displays. They've just announced the worlds slimmest Full HD display. Its flexible also. It uses true RGB pixels and not pentile. Its contrast ratio, quality, and brightness surpasses anything on the market now. It has already been officially certfied on all this by Intertek. Its speculated this display will be on new LG G2. I'd figure on the next G pro also. Q3 will be very interesting for LG phones. I'm so amazed with display on G pro now. How much better can these things get? Lol

LG G4 Sharpening

I trying to find info about how modify screen sharpness on lg g4 screen but can't find anything. I would like a little more sharpness.
Does anyone know if it is possible?
What do you mean by sharpening,? G4 has same QHD resolution as G3 but also has much better contrast and color reproduction. So it's already much better display than the one on G3.

Display quality

Hi. I bought lg v30 with nice oled screen but i can change to g7 but I am not sure about screen quality. Can you tell me how black colour looks on this ips (for example aod)? Its better than any other standard ips screens? I compared moto g6 plus screen to the v30 and its big difference.

It's a beautiful panel. The blacks are very black for it being an ips, but it's not AMOLED.

I would say only at night you will see a little diffrence for black. At day no diffrence.
But the white on this screen beats everything by far. :good: best display out there.
Just be sure to enable comfort view on g7 when you make comparison and play with the slider until it fits you.

Well if you ask about blacks it is a bit worse then Sony XZ2 and Xiaomi Mi Mix 2s I can compare them any time. But it is really close and hard to notice ( I have some sharp eyes
About brightness colors etc, if you count out boost brightness that can only be manually activated fot 3 minutes max, it is obviously worse in all aspects then those two phones I mentioned above...I found it way way on the cold side and post balance is hurting brightness alot...it also has odd subpixel set, some kind of pentile and not true rgbw nor rgb obviously. So there is no true QHD quality resolution vise more like FHD+
So in reality it is not top tier IPS without boosted brightness (if boost is activated it goes toe to toe with those phones but they operate on that level always while LG can be boosted for 3 min. max from time to time)...

As I said balancing white degrades brightness too much, and it takes more to calibrate white balance then to put it on A4 papaer and try to match it
Still post calibration is not even close to "factory calibration" something completely different...LG G7 screen is not only beatable but it is not even in the top dogs level...

LG G7 has nice screen but it is not only beatable but it is not even on the same level of flagships...
So simple as this LG G7 LCD display is hands down worse then: Sony XZ P, XZ2 (compact), Xiaomi Mi MIX 2(s) Black Shark, Huawei Mate 9(20), iPhone XR(7,7+,8,8+), Nokia 8, Razer Phone 2...i guess there are far more, but those are certenly better when compared head to head overall...

I DISAGREE!
Had XZ premium, compared it with Xz2 premium, Xz2 and xz3 when I bought it, also compared it with s10e, s10+, iPhone xr and xs max, mate 20npro and p30 pro. G7 screen leaves in dust those even without enabling boost brightness. White is white. On the others, oleds, white is yellowish. Idk what test you've done, but it seems weird that you've got different results.

So you compare LCD to demo unit OLED :silly:
For people looking for true comparison that confirms what I said, one photo is with and one without brightness boost on LG compared to Sony XZ2. Note LG can sustain boosted brightness three minutes maximum.
