[Q] 4.4 OTA - Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014 Edition) Q&A, Help & Troubl

Am I correct in thinking that my Note 10.1-14 (Wifi) will receive an OTA update in a week or 2? I live in the UK but hasn't the update only been released in Colombia.

There's no way of telling. It could be a few weeks or even a month or two. You might as well flash the kitkat firmware. I'm in the UK as well and the Colombian firmware is safe to use.

Just a quick question from a UK user. Will updating via ODIN trip the KNOX flag or not? Also, are there ANY disadvantages of updating this way instead of waiting for the OTA?
Cheers

No disadvantage and no it will not trip knox

Uhh, the systemUI crash when trying to use a Chromecast is a pretty big issue.

Watching netflix on my chromecast right now. Either that or Plex every night. Been on 4.4 for days without a crash.

Pointless asking the question because no one knows, but doubtful it will be less than a couple of months after the S4 is released.
Chances are the S3 will get a leak first.

Based on the press release i got from Samsung this morning, it said S4 will be out in the market by the second quarter. Check the part of the release on the quote below:-
"Samsung GALAXY S 4 will be available from Q2 globally including US, partnering with AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, Verizon Wireless, as well as US Cellular and Cricket. In Europe, Samsung GALAXY S 4 is partnering with global mobile operators such as Deutsche Telecom, EE, H3G, Orange, Telenor, Telia Sonera, Telefonica, and Vodafone."
First S4 release march 25 or 28 in the UK.

s4 will be released by april 1st week.........korea, india and china, UK....in that order and late april or early may in the US (they need to bloat it with carrier ****..you know)
No idea what's the so benefit of 4.2.2! I'm quite happy with 4.1.2 and afaik there are not much in 4.2.2, other than support for multiple accounts and some small stuffs.

I wonder if the 4.2.2 update will bring some battery improvements like on the Nexus devices that would be nice!
To answer the op, my prediction is the S4 comes out first (during April) then a month after we start to see leaks for the S3, and after that for our Note 2, it could take 2 to 3 months, hopefully a 4.2.1. Update will come in between.

4.2.2 has some A2DP (Bluetooth audio) fixes that I am desperate for! I use A2DP in the car and I am sick of the constant dropouts.

Multi user accounts?

I know it's built into stock android but didn't know if Samsung left it alone when doing it up in tw or if it's still there.

My Tab S 8.4 doesn't come with Knox - does that mean I can root without tripping the

Hi XDA guys,
Bought my Galaxy Tab S 8.4 through Expansys UK and noticed that I don't have the Samsung Knox software installed. Anyone else have the same case? Does this mean I can root without any issue of tripping any counter? Is the private mode same as the Knox? Thanks in advance.

I don't have a Knox app on mine either. But I think Knox lives at the bootloader level so it can still be tripped if rooted.

Hello,
I have Galaxy Tab S SM-T705. I did not see any KNOX app on it but I found it in application manager. I rooted it then disappointment I have tripped KNOX.
Do you know where is KNOX app?
Go to setting - General - Security - Device administrators if it has KNOX then click on it for install or not.
I hope it will help you.
Sorry my bad English Grammar.
Thanks for all the reply and yeah I think Knox is somewhere out there. I have somehow made a decision that I will root which I always do but not until we have official Android L.

Well Google has a policy now that phones need to be supported for 18 months after release by the manufacturer. The question is whether it applies to tablets as well.

OT. Google won't hold OEM to it. As with many devices, they haven't in the past, only bother with the commercially viable ....

You mean 4.1.2.... For the 3G model only and only for Asian market (could manually flash with Odin though).
Unlike your 7.7 3G, my poor old 7.7 WiFi never got past ICS officially

Tab S 10.5 , Note Pro, Tab Pro are all Exynos too and they all got the update to Lollipop, some to 5.1.
In fact they run the exact same Exynos as us, so there's not much work to be done (in that regard) anyways...
So -yeah- nothing to do with it being Exynos... In fact I'd be much surprised if we were not to get Lolipop too. It's Samsung's pattern, their last update is greeeatly overdue but they eventually deliver. Of course we'll never get Marshmallow as it's over the 2 year window during which Samsung typically supports her products... and then they wonder why Apple is No1 in profits. Ipad 2, a 4.5 year old device and it is still getting updates (ios 4.2.1 to ios 9+ !!)
Yeah I know! It was a joke.

Oh sorry, didn't notice. Sarcasm is sometimes hard to conveyed through text...
Well, at least they kept their promise...
I agree though that 5.1.1 would have been nice at this point. Hell, my LG prepaid phone (which was also only $100) got its first Lollipop update BEFORE this $500 tablet.
Interested to see this update in action though, I hope it gets to the SM-P600 within the next week.
Haven't received it yet, but I think I am sticking with KitKat, with all the Bluetooth audio issues I have had with both my Note Pro and my Note 4, I like that my audio doesn't skip.

First thing right off the bat, comparing to the exynos on the Note pro 12.2, had some lag issues, Google play store issues, but could have been a bad download. As far as new features, very similar features to the Note Pro's 5.0.2. Only thing that is not there is the toolbox bar which can save up to 5 favorite apps. I will test the Bluetooth to see if it skips like the Note Pro and the Note 4.

Maybe you need to do a full wipe (factory reset) via recovery.. (to resolve lag and google play issues)
Can you tell me if has popup windows (like note 4 and note 12.2 5.02)?
Thanks.

Updated my P607T to 5.1.1 ODIN
I was running Besonderes 5.0.2 but decided to upgrade to the official version... and pleasantly surprised to find the ODIN version of 5.1.1 on sammobile for my T-Mobile P607T..
Did the update via ODIN but it did not do full wipe... The TouchWiz kept force closing, and I did a factory reset/wipe via recovery. Now it seems to be running fine so far.. It is too early to tell if battery life improved, etc..
Yep, it has pop-up window
