[Q] Wi-fi calling on Verizon Note 3 with T-Mobile SIM? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note 3

I've searched for the answer for this, but found nothing...I apologize in advance if this has already been asked.
I have a Verizon Note 3 with a Tmobile SIM/Service, and would like to use the wifi calling/UMA feature that T-Mobile offers. In my office the network coverage is non-existent for all carriers, but there is wifi access. I can get online fine, but can't send a text or make calls. From what I understand Verizon has this feature blocked (or non-existent), Can I flash a T-Mobile ROM to activate this feature, or if I install a developer ROM, will this feature be available?
Thanks for any input!

your phone does not have the hardware to do WiFi calling. Only a T-Mobile phone will.

I believe tmobile is the only company that has wifi calling....tried to switch to verizon a few months back, and i asked them about the wifi calling if they had it there reply: "we are sorry, but our network is far more reliable then as of tmobile, and hence we dont need wifi calling" lol. so yeah, its not blocked, they just dont have the right hardware in place and even if they do, they wont be anywhere near tmobile...hope that made sense, kinda typing this while falling asleep

Add T-Mobile Wifi-Preferred calling VOIP to non tmobile ROM

Hey guys, I've been trying to figure out how to Add T-Mobile Wifi-Preferred calling VOIP to non tmobile ROM as I just copied/pasted the title lol. My ROM is DN3 by electro-team.com & they already told me they didn't have it. I've found a wifi-preferred.apk on this xda but it was from a pretty old post & it crashes on launch.
Somewhere I read where it calls on code in the tmobile stock ROM's system partition or something like that. I live in a valley at the bottom & I get zero or 1 bar by my window but no service in most of my house. I didn't realize that T-Mobile was the only phone provider that offered true VOIP wifi-preferred calling....I have been with them for 8 years lol. I'd get calls through my internet router's connection even when I was out of cell tower 4G LTE range! Man if I would have known that I would never have flashed a non-Tmobile ROM. Plus to top it off I had a defective microSD card so even though my NANDROID backup said it saved, it was gone on reboot...ugh bad luck.
I just got this ROM set up the way I want it....I'd hate to hafta flash another. Let me know PLEASE if anyone of you smart ladies & gents knows how I can get Tmobiles "wifi-preferred" calling back on my phone.
Thanks guys!
Unless I'm mistaken (but I don't think I am), you can't have native WIFI Calling on non-Tmobile Roms. For that, you will have to flash a stock Rom.
I use this one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2564430
You can also use 3rd party apps to make VOIP calls. Google Voice is also a good alternative.
Sorry for the bad news and good luck.

wifi-preferred not wifi calling
I have a $60.00 a year skype plan & number that works well. But I want to use my "carrier" number. I have google voice & google hangouts but with hangouts dialer it still only calls phone numbers on LTE networks...doesn't work over wifi internet connection, unless ur calling someone by hangouts username. All phone number calls go out through LTE only on google hangouts/voice dialer thing.
I'm talking about "WIFI-Preferred calling" not wifi-calling....they have the terminology all confusing when you google it. There's got to be a way. I know non-stock ROMs that say they have it. I've found 2. I'll look up what they are called.

TMobile One Wifi Calling/Messages

Does this not work on our phones? I just activated service and have no cell signal at home. I can't even text or call on wifi now.sinxe porting from project fi.
Edit: so apparently I was lied to by the rep when ordering my SIM card when I explicitly asked "is wifi calling going to work on the phone I'm bringing to TMobile." Just got off the phone with tech support and was told wifi calling only works on TMobile branded devices.
WiFi calling works for me. Also worked on my OnePlus 5.
The option is there, go to WiFi, WiFi preferences, Advanced. You can also search for WiFi calling in settings
Just found it. Thanks guys. I think their tech support was try to get me to buy a phone. Tech support was telling me that no non T-Mobile phone would work and was suggesting buying one from TMobile to get it to work.

How do I enable wi-fi calling on sprint?

I've called both Sprint and HTC and they point the finger at each other or think I cant read the menus. They tell me to go to the Sprint store which is in another town. I've called them multiple time over the past year. The M8 and M9 could do it why cant this still current high end model do it? I really could use wifi calling as my new employer has real bad signal but good wifi. I'm open to rooting/modding, as a last effort I 'upgraded' to Oreo and I'm not thrilled with it.
There is no mention of advanced calling or wi-fi calling in any of the settings menu. I do find internet calling, but I don't think that is the same. Help is greatly appreciated.

I've just started looking into this as well. For a short time I had a Verizon branded HTC-10 and that was GSM. It showed the Advanced Calling sub menu and configuration for WiFi calling. But my Sprint CDMA version does not. It appears to be locked. I've read elsewhere that unlocking the phone will "open it up" such that WiFi calling is available. But, it's no guarantee that you'll be able to use it. You have to check with your carrier's administrator. In my case, I'm with Ting and they're an MVNO for Sprint.

Wifi Calling, Verizon Pixel 2XL, using Straight Talk AT&T Sim no option

Hey all, I've been pouring over the forums here and other places trying to find a solution to my issue. I just got a Pixel 2XL the verizon version and I'm using it on Straight Talk with an AT&T sim card. So far so good except I cannot get wifi calling. I'm pure stock, android 9/Pie, no bootloader unlocks/rooting etc. The wifi calling option does not exist in the phone app nor in the settings anywhere. Even when you search for wifi calling, it simply takes you to the network and connections section of settings but wifi calling is no where to be found. I've tried the adb command (the one that apparently used to work on Oreo but not longer does on Pie) and that didn't work (though I didn't expect it to since many people said it no longer works on Pie). I have an Unlocked Note 9 as well and its wifi calling works perfectly fine so does anyone have a way to make this work? Reception at my home is somewhat lacking and I really need wifi calling.
Thanks!

Could you attach a screenshot with the WHOLE section of "Mobile Network", found inside of "Network & Internet" in the Settings -- make sure that you click on the drop down menu next to "Advanced Calling" -- this will help make sure that wifi calling is really missing as well as might point something out that may help with a solution. Moreso, personally, because I can't even imagine what the settings menu looks like missing this...

It might be a long shot but try checking the settings in the Google phone app. There should be a place that says configure IMS calling. I have this setting here and in the network settings. If you have it that's where you can enable wifi calling.

Been there done that. I have no options for setting up IMS calling. I only have SIP options. Also, I have tried the phone dialer trick (where you dial *#*#4636#*#*) and that shows the wifi calling option as a toggle but its greyed out and cannot be enabled. I even tried an adb trick that used to work on the 1st gen pixels, but to no avail.
What happens when you enter your information here?
I'll have to initiate a chat with Straight Talk. Like you I have a Pixel 2 XL with a Straight Talk AT&T SIM. The only difference is that mine is unlocked. I just ran my phone number and the IMEI of the SIM through the linked site and it tells me my device is not compatible. Since I have a BYOP SIM and the IMEI is of the SIM itself, chances are high that the SIM needs replacing with one that includes WiFi calling support.
EDIT: According to the representative I just spoke with, there's no guarantee that changing to a newer AT&T SIM will enable the feature. The only guaranteed method according to tech support is switching to a T-Mobile SIM.

Hey thanks for the help. I tried that link as well (before I posted here; sorry I should have mentioned it) and it said my device is also not compatible. I initiated a chat with them and they told me the same; switch to T-Mobile. I am tempted to do so but the one thing holding me back is my home is already a place I get poor signal and T-mobile's coverage while much improved still isn't as good at AT&T's. I realize that having wifi calling would fix any lingering signal issues but I do manage to get 1-2 bars of 3G at my house with AT&T, I figure I won't even get that with T-Mobile. So I am weary of the switch. I'll have to consider it though. I could also wait for the full rollout of the latest google voice (since it finally is bring VOIP without the need of hangouts) and just use that number instead.
So I contacted Straight Talk and ordered a T-Mobile sim card. It'll be here in a few days. I will post my findings after it arrives. Straight talk support says wifi calling works with all T-Mobile sim cards so we will see.
Hello all,
Okay, so I finally got switched over to a T-Mobile sim card (again still with straight talk). It took a while cause I had to buy a new one (the old one I had expired; who'd have thought?). Anyways, switching to T-Mobile solved all my problems and then some. Not only do I have Wifi calling, but also HD voice, VOLTE, Tethering, and 3-4 bars of LTE (previously on AT&T, I got 1-2 bars of 3G). I realize the signal issues is merely a coverage thing but I can say with certainty that switching to a T-Mobile sim card will give you all the advanced features. I hope this helps others who might experience this problem. I've been using AT&T (in one form or another) for the better part of a decade and can now honestly say, AT&T sucks.

Samsung S9 Wifi Calling ROM Question

I have a new Sprint unlocked Samsung S9 SM-G960U1 and am trying to get the wifi-calling to work with Cricket Wireless. Currently the wifi calling option doesn't even show up. I was wondering if flashing an after market ROM would enable me to access the wifi-calling feature. Cricket supports wifi-calling, but only on Android devices purchased from Cricket (a note I didn't see before I bought the phone). If there is please letr me know which ROM would help me achieve this.
Thanks

Wifi calling and volte do not work on byod there is no roms for this phone. You can root but I can assure you this isnt gonna work either. All you can do is buy a cricket wifi calling enabled device

incorrect. it merely needs to be provisioned by cricket on the back end by someone who isnt the typical moron with a headset. the reason byod devices have trouble is due to the IMEI not being listed in their system and it takes a ticket to be sent to the telephony dept and have it added. They dont like doing it, but they will when pushed. Unlocked A8 and A6 on cricket both had wifi calling and VoLTE after provisioning was complete.
you also have to have the right csc on the phone.

I have a method with imei from a good cricket wifi calling phone. And have it working. But I have to give them another imei once I have it provisioned. Once their system updates with my imei I lose my wifi calling. But after provisioning I give them my actual cricket devices imei and tell them the system is still showing my byod imei they need to change it back to the other device. It works. But imei in their system is wrong.
Not imei switching or anything like that. I physically own a stylo 5 from cricket I dont use. So they think I'm on that and not my g9650. So I know it's possible just a real pain
