[Tasker] Glasker: Send Anything to Glass with only TASKER! - Glass Development

I have a Pebble, which doing a great job of getting Android Notifications! I just wonder if I can do the same thing with Google Glass.
There are some notification forwarder on the Market now, however, since I am already running Tasker, so I wonder if I could use
Tasker + Google's Mirror API
to achieve same thing without running any other APP on my phone, nor on my Glass, and here it is: "Glasker"
"Glasker" encapsulated Mirror API's token and authorization process into several Tasker tasks so you only need to write simple tasker "Profile" based on trigger you want then send anything to Glass!
With "Glasker", you could:
1. Forward ANY Android notification (as far as Tasker can get) to your Glass.
2. Forward Music Track info on your Phone to Glass while playing by Phone.
3. All of communications are just between your phone, Google's cloud and your Glass. Nothing go through another server.
4. You tell me!
Before we start, here are the disclaimer:
1. As Tasker is just plain text, you can see everything how those tasks works. Please review the code before proceed and once you run the tasks, I am not responsible what happened to your phone, your glass, Google's cloud or your washing machine, etc...
2. I am NOT affliated to the author of "Tasker" nor "RESTask for Tasker". Thus I am do NOT know if any of them send your message somewhere else. Don't use this project if you suspect anything.
Okay, Here are the setup steps:
0. Install a Tasker plugin "RESTask for Tasker" https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.freehaha.restask This is used to send REST message to Google's cloud. (Tasker's internal PUT doesn't work here...)
1. Setup your OAuth2.0 Client ID and Client secret at https://console.developers.google.com/project (If you have no idea on what I am saying here, I will try to add a walk thru in 3rd post when I got time!)
2. Turn on your Glass and make sure it connected to your phone via MyGlass app. Make sure your phone and Glass can access the network.
3. Import downloaded "Glass.prj.xml" file into Tasker
4. Open task "TimeInZulu" and modify Variable Substract: %deliverytime, xxxxx according to your time zone!
In Taiwan (GMP+0800), xxxxx=8*60*60=28800
In LA, USA (GMP-0800), please change Variable Substract-->Variable add: %deliverytime, 28800
Other time zone please modify as needed or you will not hear a chime when message delivered to your Glass!
5. Run Task "Get Authorization 1" once and input your Client ID, Client secret (Those two variables will be kept in Tasker Variables in PLAIN text since it will be used later), than your default browser will fire
6. After grant yourself with the priviledge of "Glass timeline request", than you will be directed to a web page with a code. Please copy the code.
7. Return to Tasker, than run "Get Authorization 2" (hence Google's Two-Step Authorization....), than input the code you get from last step.
8. Let the Task run a while (10~20 second), then you should see a message on Glass says "My Notification forwarder Setup Completed!" (If not, lease scroll to right of timeline to see this message. It should be the 1st message)
9. Now, go back to Tasker/Profile than setup your trigger. (My default trigger are with Line, a Whatsapp like messanger very popular in Taiwan)
10. Profit!
If you find this useful, Thanks button is just a click away! Also, if you can make this project better, please also share what you modified here!

Profile explaination:
1. GlassConnected: Master switch for all sending profiles. I disable the forwarding of message if my Glass is not connected to my phone via BT directly for apparently security reason. In theory as long as both your Phone and Glass are connected to the network, you can forward message even they are at opposite side of the world!
2. SendLineMsg: Send message from Line, a Whatsapp like app wildly used in certain parts of world (4 billion active user!). You can modify this to any other messanger!
3. SendMusicInfo: Not necessary, it's just a demo to show it can send something else.
Task explaination:
1. Get Authorization 1/2: To get authorization from Google to allow access to Mirror API.
2. Remove All TimeLine Items: Utility task. As name suggests, it removes all timeline items created (only) by Glasker. It also reset several Tasker variables should you encounter problem. (No need to re-do Get Authorization)
3. Get Time Line: Used in "Remove All TimeLine Items" to get all timeline items created by Glasker
4. GetAccessToken: Utility task. Used to get new access token from Google (since token are temporarily and expires about 360 seconds). Usually you don't need to mess with this task
5. TimeInZulu: Convert local time to Zulu time. It seems Mirror API only accepts Zulu time format. (You need to modify this task based on your timezone as above step 4 or you wil not hear reminder chime when mesasge delivered
6. SendStaticCard: This task is used to send customized content to Glass.
7. SendLineMsg: Send nofication from Line app to the Glass. I update both "Boundle Cover" as will as content
8. SendMusicInfo: Send the music track info for the music playing at stock music player on your PHONE. (This is a demo of non-chimed Card send to glass)

This looks pretty cool. Sorry if I missed it, but does glass automatically turn on, visual, for each notification?

Yes, you can make a sound when notification push to Glass. However, the Glass will not turn on the screen. (This is explicitly mentioned by Google that such ability will not be allowed in Mirror API, only for APP running on Glass itself).
What's cool here is that when you hear the notification sound, if you turn on the Glass in about 5 second (by touchpad or head-up activation), the Glass will show the notification card directly instead of the regular card with time.
The task of "SendLineMsg" is an example to have a card with notification sound, while "SendMusicInfo" doesn't have sound.

Got any way to go the other way? From Glass to phone? Would be great for voice commands for home automation.

Yes, it's possible to go the other way (from glass to Phone). However you need to run a HTTP server on your phone.... The whole Mirror API is two way...
I was thinking to have Tasker to enable/disable the HTTP server on phone based on the message sent (to save phone resource-->Battery when no message are needed) but don't have time to do it yet...
You are welcome to make modification here!

I don't understand step 4. I'm supposed to change variable from subtract to add?

It's depends on your time zone. If you are in US, you need replace the "Variable Substract" action with "Variable add" action than put your time zone difference in second.

I'm trying to use this to forward YouTube videos to glass. Getting close I think.

Any luck on this? Does the timeline card open up the correct application? Can I send myself a location from my phone and open it up with maps on glass? This would be awesome!

Does this still work without MyGlass ?

a few things I can't stand

My wife and I just got the T-Mobile Dash (s620, Excalibur, among other names) and we like it. However, we still have the following issues.
Can't turn off the backlight. (I think your right, I can deal with this.)
Backlight doesn't come on all the way in bright sunlight. (same here)
Can't find a slim, inward facing, plastic belt holster? (still looking)
Speed dial list isn't easy to get to (mapped to 2 - OK for now but would rather put this on my wife's Today Screen).
The 'touch' volume mechanism is silly. (will try setjogbar-free to begin using it as scroll instead, thanks caramelzappa and phonealarm -not free for vol ctrl, thx sergiopi)
Can't I just set the phone volume to as high as possible by default while I am on the phone and perhaps set hard buttons to control this? (thx again)
Can't modify the today screen. (still no great solution here)
Can't create Excel files. (will try Modaco-free but can't find it, thx sergiopi or Documents To Go-not free)
Can't set more than one alarm. (will try phonealarm not free, thx sergiopi)
Unlocking the keypad (press unlock > then *) is a bit of a nuisance. (I'm surviving)
Internet costs $20.00 - this is a rippoff, even at $6.00! (turning tzones into full internet access from the instructions found here.
Any assistance with some of these items would be greatly appreciated.

1) Why? just in settings>power management choose the backlight time out!
2) If you live in Antarctica during the summer this could be a big problem!
3) just drop it in yout pocket, is strong enought!
4) ???? Set it then press the number you sat for a couple of seconds... done
5,6, 9) I agree, I use phonealarm, it does the job an much more!
7) This is your fault, not excalibur's fault, Home screen is fully easy XML and there are hundreds home screen already done for landscape WM smartphones on the net
8) Modaco has the freeware solution to create word and excel files on the dash-excalibur
10) IMHO I fount it safe and easy
and remember GOOGLE IS THE BEST n00b's friend!
1) Why would you need to turn it off manually? You can set it to after a while, or you can hold the end call button and just lock the phone.
2)Why do you need the backlight in the sunlight?
3)Save yourself the humiliation and put your phone in your pocket.
4)Holding down a button is difficult? Seems the same as speed dial as any other phone.
4)Search for setjogbar, makes the touch pad much more useful.
5)Just set it to the highest volume and don't mess with it anymore. If you install setjogbar you can make it so it only controls volume in call, and works as a quick launch/scroll strip otherwise.
6)Search for homescreens. There are plenty available, caurasal is a nice one that last time I checked is on the front page of this forum.
7)There are programs that are available. Remember, it's windows mobile, and it relies on programs to do things the same way as windows does.
8)I don't know about your alarm problem, I don't use them.
9)How is the unlock sequence different than any other phone? A soft key and then * is pretty common for unlocking phones. The only difference perhaps is that the dash has smaller keys than most, but you get used to them quickly.

you could also update your ROM to WM6, you could then use Office Mobile...which lets you create docs, excels, whatever on your device.....and also, you can goto www.madbeetle.com, they offer a free homescreen makeing application that lets you make a homescreen(today screen aka) from scratch using a nice GUI...that may help you a little..

Ash, thanks. I'll try madbeetle and and see how that works. Documents to Go won't as I can't find the crack for it. I am using WM6 and just went back into the Excel it comes with and can't figure out how to do a new Excel doc. Perhaps I am missing something?
Yeah, what you need to do, is first make an excel document on your computer...name is like blank.xml or somethin, whatever you want, and leave it blank, then on your Dash...open Excel Mobile and select your Excel doc, then click on Menu, the Save As, then rename it to something else, and it will create you a new file with that name, in addition to the one that you already had. Not real elegant, but it works with the software that you already have...no cracks or anything required!

If the S630 is cancelled? Why do I have it on my desk as we speak?
Very limited release my friend, HTC sent *some* out, but then decided to work on different products such as the Touch 2 and crap instead of focusing on another smartphone...go figure, since the S620 is like their best selling WM smartphone ever.....

hi have WM6 ROM 1.33 without Office Mobile 6. I then installed Office Mobile 6 found in one of the thread, and tried to create a doc, but i don't think it would let u. can u walk me through how to do it ash, thanks a bunch (sorry 4 my noobie)
Sure, it's not elegant, but it gets the job done. What you need to do is first using your desktop PC, make a Word, Excel, Powerpoint file etc, and name it something like NEW DOC MAKER or the like and leave it blank. Then, transfer it to your device. Now open up whichever program you created it for(Word, Excel, PP etc) and wait for it too load. Once its loaded, press MENU, then select SAVE AS....and name it something else..like FOODZ or the like and hit SAVE. It will then create a new blank document called what you just specified in the same directory or folder as the original document. Hope this helps!

Looking for Opinions

I'm trying to paste some .brn files to remove the provider branding of my touch. I apologize in advance if this has been discussed elsewhere, I just couldn't find it. I recently moved to the touch from a g4 wizard because of provider pricing changes, it made more sense to finally move to a phone with a data plan. My poor wizard...anyway, I'm unable to paste files like I could with my wizard. I would just open the windows folder and paste via the activesync connection, but now I get an access is denied error. I think what I did on my wizard was enable rapi and unsigned apps, is there something that will allow me to do this?
I don't like the rom that's on their right now, it's much slow than my wizard's clean rom, I want to access sprint tv and what not, but don't want it on my cube. I'm also looking for a way to add side swipe gestures, like if I use a left right gesture on today screen I want htc action to come up, and right left should be icontact...is their a way to do this without installing ftouchflo...? Please give me some guidance. I've bricked a wizard, ya baby, but after that I learned to read so I didn't do it again, so if I have to flash I will, but I don't want to void warranties or anything...

No, it would be cool to change the carrier name though. I'm referencing all the carriers customization to my phone. For instance on my cube, my mediahub side has three options Sprint Music /Sprint Tv /On Demand. The sprint music launches an application where you can pay for and download music, the tv(doesn't work) but is supposed to open an application that I can watch mobile tv on, and the On demand brings me to a third party app(I think) that has option for weather and getting directions. I don't want any of these, I want my music button to open the htc audio manager, the sprint tv should open my pictures and the on demand should open my videos...plus I want to change the button pictures on the face of the cube itself. I'm not going to talk about how much I don't like the 6 app side. It's fine for a normal user of the phone I'm sure, but if I want to go to the sprint applications, I will set up my own links or access them through the programs folder...Ya know...?
My opinion is to completely remove the cube, you'll eventually see that changing the cube is just a simple skinning process. Bu, if you need to, you need to make .bmp files and convert them to .brn, search for the BMP/BRN Converter, it's a very simple app to make the conversion, search here for it. Or, check my Tips thread on how to remove it, and add a different cube.

[NST][Home replacement] EpubBrowser [11/04/2012]

Hi,
I did up a home replacement for my Nook simple touch, thought I would share it. This is an initial release, no doubt there are bugs, incompatibilities, etc, you were warned. There are no checks for other devices at this point, NST only.
Thanks to the nook community for the noogie.img file, touch nooter, and relaunch for source code ideas and various threads regarding quick refresh and e-ink support.
Disclaimer: Now, what I am using currently is the bare minimum, I have tried quite a bit of the work in this forum and it works well, but I wasn't satisfied or 100% confident and I wanted less installed. So, I restored my nook to stock, used noogie and copied over a rooted ramdisk. That was it, no touchcolortools, nooktouchtools installed, adw minimal this or that, or button saviors. I am sure they are great programs but I don't know enough about them or have the interest/time to do research on them to want to keep them installed.
For me, the point is to keep things simple and maintain battery life. It's an e-reader not a tablet after all. I just want to read books, check email, check a website or two, get some more use out of wi-fi since I don't live in a B&N supported nation.
To install:adb install EPubBrowser.apk
Optional:
I also installed Email.apk and set up my gmail from there, no certificates required or a million google app files and plucking a chicken on a Tuesday after jumping on your left foot crap. No offense to those who like chicken plucking.
adb install Email.apk
Done and done.
I can do up a CWM zip upon request, but last going off I have a continuous reboot after installing the latest version and if you know enough to get the Nook's CWM installed you should be able to use adb.See attached files.
What is not working:
Since Android doesn't really know about multiple external storage locations (at least for the Nook's 2.1 and/or my knowledge of android) EPubBrowser is unable to detect when the internal storage has been remounted, there is no notification of that, just notification of external storage. So if you plug in your usb cord to the computer the list of books will be empty even when you remove it. So if you don't have an sdcard you will have to hit the back button and launch home again to refresh.
Also, B&N books are not listed, whatever is in My Files will be scanned only. That applies to internal and sdcard storage. You can still use B&N's Library to access those.
I don't have any option of uninstalling apps either. adb uninstall works fine or you can just delete files from /data/app via adb shell.
What is working:
Launch of EPubBrowser via nook's home button, without use of nooktouchtools, it duplicates how the B&N home app works.
The notification icon for resuming reading goes through the app. As long as the book was launched from EPubBrowser it can remember the last book, otherwise the main display will show up. Reason being that for whatever reason the last page read doesn't work with the B&N home screen if it's not a book bought from B&N. But if you are just using the B&N Reader app it's not a problem.
When you are prompted which home you want you can select EPubBrowser and hit default. This may not stay set and will go away the next time you reboot.
How to use:Left / right swipes to go to the next 6, previous 6 books, no indication of the current page is displayed, (e-ink and aesthetics).
Touch a book cover to launch a description of the book, swipe up and down to scroll through the description, touch the cover displayed there to start reading. Hit back button on top of screen to exit without launching a book.
To bring up the list of apps installed, swipe a clockwise circle starting at 10 O'clock. Touch an app to launch it, left or right swipe to go back to main screen. That's it for now.
If you have any ideas for improvements, bug reports, please provide as much detail as possible, and when you have done that add some more detail.
Cheers!
Updates:
2/19/2012:
Added screensaver for last read book. (Jpeg 75%) Settings->Display->Screensavers->EPubBrowser
11/4/2012:
Added src project
Looks nice! I'll give it a shot later when my Nook's charged.
Thank you for making and sharing, i am going to try tomorrow and tell you,
Improvements
First of all, thank you for creating this cool launch screen. I love the simplicity of it. Here are is brief list of improvement that you can perhaps easily implement.
-When on the homescreen with the covers of all the books, I am not sure if I am suppose to scroll down or to the right to view the rest of my books.
-When on the page with the details from the book, there is no back button to take you back to the homescreen. I end up using the button savior back button.
-The circle gesture that takes you to the apps does not feel very responsive to me.
Anyhow, great job. Can't wait to see how you plan on improving it
OW MY EYES
I installed this, and everything just kept flashing. GO Locker and GO Launcher are both broken, and the only way I could fix it was by getting into ADW and closing the task. Did I install it incorrectly? I put it onto an SD card and used ES File Manager to install it.

Hi,
Thanks for the feedback.
You swipe left to go to the previous page of books. You swipe right to go to the next page of books, assuming you have more than 6 books. Personally, I know what books I have on the device so it's not a problem knowing how many are left to see for me.
The back button should be on top of the screen in the middle, not sure why it wouldn't be there on yours. I will give it a think, maybe remove the scroll control in the book description and just use gesture detection and scroll the text via code.
Responsiveness and speed will likely improve over time, I am using the gesture library, maybe there are some optimizations there I can do.
Cheers!

Hi,
Noted, so it doesn't work with GO Lancher/Locker. Never tried GO stuff, so that wasn't tested. It was tested with ADW and relaunch, and I had all the rest of your typical touch nooter install there without problems, android market, etc.
I have run it with Home.apk renamed to Home.apk.bak and that works fine as well.
As for your other question, if it is installed it is installed, there are no configurations to modify, however you get it there it should be fine.
Cheers!

Noted that it does not work with go, will have to get rid of that first.
From the screenshots, I can already tell you put time into polishing! Good job!

I'll try it again without the GO software, but it was making everything just keep flashing, like the lock screen.
@NFHimself, any plans for taking this to github? It is very close to what I always wanted but I was also looking for:
- some kind of usage of Calibre data
- library filtering for series, highly rated, etc.
- tracking of books that are clicked to maintain sort of recent read filter
- sorting options by rating, series, and other Calibre properties
- option to display 6 or 12 (smaller) book covers.
I hope it already does use intents for selecting a different epub reader for those who have no defaults and multiple ones installed.
I know its a long list, and I have some Android experience. I am sure there would be other developers here so a combined effort might help.

Hi,
I use Calibre as well, I just connect via adb and calibre picks up the nook and I copy books over and it converts on the fly, cool program. Using Calibre data is an idea worth looking into, if I can fit it into the theme of no preferences, no extra buttons or config. There are plenty of those kind of home apps already. Relaunch for one is great, just missing a graphical front end, I was going to mod that, but decided that I didn't really need so much stuff and I wanted to learn more android API.
I did up the app using pretty straight forward epub standards (note the plural), it works with most epubs I have run across, not sure if looking for extra xml is a good functionality vs performance tradeoff. I haven't been using EPubBrowser for very long myself, so when I add more books and find something annoying I will probably make changes to fix it. I want to keep things simple, if I need a preferences menu, it is already going the wrong way.
I am not specifying any class, just a regular launch this epub file intent, so it should work with any reader. I like the stock reader myself, cool reader seems to dislike some epubs I have above a certain size, and I didn't want to deal with it.
I may github it, I am kinda time limited these days.
Cheers!

Hi,
More details are needed to figure that out. What device do you have? What do you have installed on it?
Cheers!
I just wiped then manually rooted my Nook, and this works now. Although I'm having some trouble with getting to the apps page after the first time I did it. Could you possible change how you get to the apps page? Maybe change it so you have to click the menu key to get to apps.
Edit: Now that I've added my books, it shows me two books, one empty, and another book. Now it just flashes and removes/re-adds the last book. :/
Edit 2: I found that there are a few books that just don't like this launcher and cause the entire Nook to start flashing. I've been adding my books one by one to see which work and which don't and I'll try and find similarities between those that don't.
Great launcher replacement.
Running right now, but after the second page, I get sent back to the first, regardless of left-to-right or right-to-left swiping. Ideas?
Also, any chance for a page up/down use for scrolling through books?
I took a quick vid. It looks like when I swipe again from R to L, it tries to redraw the next books, but gets confused?

Hi,
I'm busy painting the baby's room, but it looks like it is resetting, perhaps one of your books is crashing the app and it is being relaunched as the home screen. Or could be some other bug, how many books are involved, if you remove one or add one, does it go away?
If someone could open the e-pub (it's a zip file) that causes the error and paste the contents of the .odf file (it's an xml file) , that would help.
Cheers!

I've gone through and removed / added ebooks, and still the same problem.
Sorry, been kinda busy.
I need to be able to see the bug on my end to work on it. Maybe I've been lucky with the book selections I have made or converting using Calibre has set them all to have the same kind of format, vs the variety you might see in the wild from multiple sources.
Does the error happen with no books?
What happens when you have just one book?
How many books do you have on your nook? (If it's something like 1000 then yeah, maybe you'd have issues, no checks in the code for being out of memory.)
What firmware are you using?
Are there any hardware differences? (Can't imagine that being a problem, but I am using a NST, not the original Nook.)
What can I do to reproduce this error on my end? What are the steps?
Cheers!

For me, it doesn't matter how many books I have, it's just a few specific books that crash, independent of the other books in my library, and some books are more severe than others (one makes the entire Nook start flashing (all software), others make only this app flash).
I have the same problem as the people above but I can't get past the first page. I can't seem to narrow it down to a certain book making it crash. It's a shame I love this home screen, but hopefully we can get this fixed and running great.

[APP] PRadio - Pandora for Windows 8

PRadio is a Windows 8 Store App for Pandora. Unlike IE, this app allows users to stream music from Pandora recommendation service in the background. It works great on tablets such as Microsoft Surface. This app works only in the US. If you want to use it in other countries you need a US based proxy or VPN software such as openvpn.net

http://bit.ly/Yt9qT5
The app is only available in the US Store, if you are in another country you can switch to the US Store by going to "Control Panel\Clock, Language, and Region\ Change region."
[Update 12/14/2012]:
If you want to try out the latest version that will be available shortly on the store you will need to sideload the app. This version supports background music streaming on Surface RT even when the device is locked (Connected Standby).
Please follow the instructions given below:
1. Download Pandora_0.0.4.8_AnyCPU_Test and unzip to any folder e.g. xyz.
2. Open powershell as an administrator
3. Execute the following commands in powershell
a) set-executionpolicy unrestricted
b) cd xyz\Pandora_0.0.4.8_AnyCPU_Test
c) .\Add-AppDevPackage.ps1
[Note: Installation process might ask you to login to your Microsoft Account which is necessary to get the necessary certificates from the windows store to sign the package]
If you have feedback on the app, please post below.
What is Pandora?
Pandora Internet Radio, an automated music recommendation service and "custodian" of the Music Genome Project whose service in full is only available in the United States, with limited access in Australia and New Zealand. The service plays musical selections similar to song suggestions entered by a user. The user provides positive or negative feedback for songs chosen by the service, which are taken into account for future selections.
Wow, very nicely implemented for a third-party client! The snapped interface is very good as well. The interface when something *else* is snapped (which means it only has about 1040 pixels of width on the Surface) isn't perfect though (usable, but some stuff gets covered).
I'd be happy to sideload and test a new version.
EDIT: A bit more feedback: the app doesn't handle being backgrounded very gracefully. It will stop playing after the current song. I suppose that *could* be intentional, but it's annoying.

Thanks for the feedback, I just posted instructions to sideload the new version.
It should not stop playing after the current song, this is not intentional. Can you send me the following PRadioInformation.log file which should be present in
%appdata%\..\Local\Packages\28268splashtetra.PRadio_80qntxqrmk3vj\LocalState folder
Sorry, I should correct myself: it won't start the next song if the screen is off. Turning the screen on by itself won't start playing agian, either; you either have to use the media control and hit Play, or log in and have the app at least partially in the foreground.
If you still need the log I'll post it here in a bit.

Are you using a Surface RT or an ARM based tablet? If yes, I believe it is going into connected standby. In connected standby, windows does not let the app get the next playlist. I need to use a different set of API to support this scenario. As soon as I get hold of an ARM tablet I will add support for this. If this is not an ARM based tablet then please send me the logs.

Hi GoodDayToDie or any Surface RT user,
I have created a new version 0.3.3 of the PRadio which hopefully should work in your machine. Can you give it a try? I do not own one yet so I cannot try it myself.
Instructions are given below.
Thanks
Instructions:
1. Download Pandora_0.0.3.3_AnyCPU_Test and unzip to any folder e.g. xyz.
2. Open powershell as an administrator
3. Execute the following commands in powershell
a) set-executionpolicy unrestricted

[Note: It might ask you to login to your Microsoft Account that is necessary to get the necessary certificates to sign the package]
Thanks! Yes, I'm using Surface RT. I'm sideloading your app now and will report later.
EDIT: Works fine! I had to uninstall the current (store) version first, but it preserved my configuration (you using the roaming AppData?) so that was no problem.
The music playback did cut out eventually, but I'm guessing that's intentional (just the "are you still there?" check, perhaps) since it was after an hour or so of inactivity, and as soon as I brought he app forward again it resumed. I'm on a free account, BTW (used to subscribe, but between them not creating a WP7 app and the advantages of Zune Pass instead, I let it lapse).
One piece of feedback: you could put a lot more info on the About page. Version would be good, for example, and I didn't actually see attribution for the CC-licensed artwork, just a mention that it was CC-BY. Other than that, love it!
Seems to be working all nice and proper for me now too, on RT.
Eats far less CPU than letting IE run in desktop mode.
Edit: Every once in a while there seems to be a delay for it loading the next song of 30-45 seconds. Not critical, just noting.
Edit2: More feedback.
1) I can't forward to the next song from the volume menu.
2) It seems to stop playing after an hour and a half or so, on a Pandora One account.
3) It'd be nice if it could remember the last station and start playing on launch
4) Related, it'd be nice if it automatically logged in on launch, not sending you to the login screen. Perhaps a settings option to clear the stored user settings, and make it log in automatically?
5) I suspect this is more of an OS issue, but outputting through a USB sound card and putting the device to sleep causes the audio to become garbled and broken.
6) The formatting seems to be a bit off in portrait mode, the 'Log Out' button on the top clips over the station name, and there's a considerable amount of deadspace at the bottom of the screen (probably a good 1/3 of the screen is wasted)
And, are the advertisements on it yours or Pandora's? If they're Pandora's, it'd be nice if you could detect if it's a Pandora One account.
does this work for cdn. IP addresses? regular pandora won't let cdn IP users
i know on android, you have to use ORBIT something app, forgot the name, and on iphone you use that hot shield free VPN
Thanks for the feedback GoodDayToDie & netham45.

>> I know why it fails to play after an hour....Connected Standby, I will fix this in the next release.
>> you could put a lot more info on the About page. Version would be good, for example, and I didn't actually see attribution for the CC-licensed artwork, just a mention that it was CC-BY
I will add version in About page. Currently if you run the app and in taskmanager search pandora.exe, right-click and go to properties you can see the version. I will add attribution too. Good catch!!
>> I can't forward to the next song from the volume menu.
Forwarding is currently disabled as Pandora does limit the number of skips after some time. If a users keeps on skipping he/she will eventually hit this limit and there is no UI to message this to the user. This also prevented my app to be certified in the store so i decided to disable it for now till i figure out a better way to deal with this.

Currently it should automatically login based on the credentials stored on the machine. Do you want a way to clear the settings?
I suspect this is more of an OS issue, but outputting through a USB sound card and putting the device to sleep causes the audio to become garbled and broken
Interesting....Thanks for reporting it. I would need to get hold of a USB sound card to try this out. Was this on the RT device?

Thanks Log Out button should not have appeared. Will fix it and i will try to make better use of the real estate.
And, are the advertisements on it yours or Pandora's? If they're Pandora's, it'd be nice if you could detect if it's a Pandora One account.
The advertisements are mine...Not Pandora's maybe i can reduce the number of advertisements if that is a big eye sore. Thanks again for the feedback.

If you use any VPN software to connect to US based server (I tried openvpn.net although has a data limit) you should be able to use the app to listen to pandora via the app. Give it a try and let me know how it goes.

It sends me to the login screen most of the time when I launch it, or if I come back to it if it's been inactive for 5-6 hours.

Yes I'm using RT, though further testing shows that I get the same result no matter what music app I use, so I blame the OS.

[GUIDE] NFC Implants, Mifare & Android

Introduction
So a few months ago I got my first NFC implant in my left hand, I haven't been able to find a thread for those of us who have them or much information on them apart from the basics.
So here it is.
*UPDATE*
Did you know I gave a talk on NFC implants at The March Of The Droids Conference?
You do now, so here's the video

What You Should Know
It's virtually painless to have them implanted
They should last a life time
The implant itself is about the size of a grain of rice
They can be removed easily if needed
They are smaller than standard NFC tags and therefore have a smaller range, on my note 2 it took me a while to find the spot I had to place my phone (the center of "SAMSUNG" on the back), however a week later I was able to get it straight away
They only have a small amount of storage, if you want to use it for longer or multiple links etc a url shortener is probably your best bet, however it can handle " my name, phone number, email address and facebook page"
You can feel it under the skin, but cant see any lump etc
Work or UNI cards can't be copied over to it however as the implant is Miifare compatible, my IT department at uni were more than happy to scan my hand and add it to the system

General Uses
Unlocking phones
Miifare authentication
Logging in to Windows
Passing information such as URLs and contact details without the need for social media or email etc

In Android
Unlocking your device
Prior to Android 5.0.0
By default in android, NFC is turned off when your screen is off or the device is locked, to enable a NFC implant to unlock a stock lock screen their is a Xposed Module called "NFC LockScreenOffEnabler" which allows NFC polling without your device being unlocked or if you so desire your screen being on as well. This module also includes the ability to select tags that can unlock your device.
Click to collapse
5.0.0 +
With Androids new smart unlock you can set your device to unlock with nfc without the need for root and Xposed, to set this up all you need to do is navigate to:
Settings > Security > Smart Lock > Trusted Devices
Then simply tap the + icon, select NFC and scan your implant.
Click to collapse
with either method once you have done this all you need to do is to do is to scan your tag whenever you are at your lockscreen and your device should unlock for you
Sharing links and contact details
This is possibly the most simple use for an NFC tag and can be achieved through most nfc apps, I favour PLAY STORE: NFC Tools.
once the app has been installed, open it and select the "write" tab, select "add record" and then either URL or contact depending on your needs.
URL:
after selecting URL from the add record screen all you need to do is to select your URL scheme from the drop down menu the will usually be either HTTP:// or HTTPS:// and then enter the remainder of the url in the text box to its right.
I usually use a URL shortener such as goo.gl as the implants have limited storage capacity.
Select ok and the on the following screen select "write" and scan your implant. Done!
Click to collapse
Contact details:
after selecting contact from the add record screen you will see a simple self explanatory form including: name, company, phone number, email and website. after entering all or some of this information, select ok and the on the following screen select "write" and scan your implant. Done!
Click to collapse
Once these have written, scanning your implant with any nfc enabled phone should either open the URL or add the contact details to the devices contacts
Sharing Social Media App Links
You want someone to be able to scan your implant and their Twitter or Facebook app open to your profile? If you were to set it up so that upon scanning the app was opened straight away this could cause issues if they did not have said app, they would be instead directed to the play store and the link would be lost unless they installed and re-scanned your implant. However Android allows an excellent way around this.
Start by navigating to the "Write" tab in NFC Tools as above in the "Sharing Links" section
Select "Add Record" followed by "Social Networks"
Select the network of your choice and in the next screen enter the username associated with the profile you wish to open
Hit "write" and and scan your tag
Click to collapse
Now when some one scans your tag instead of opening the link in either the app or their browser it should instead give them the choice to open it with any applicable applications
Opening mifare card controlled doors at work and uni etc
simply put the only way to do this is to speak to your IT department, if they are ok with it they will scan your tag with a reader and add you to the system. mine were more than happy to accommodate and the entire process took less than 2 minutes. not including the time it took to answer all the usual questions "why, how and what?". you should immediately be able to start using it.
PSA: It is highly advised that you check with your IT department first as to the type of Mifare they use, NFC implants use Mifare Ultralight which may not be compatible with your system. Also any other method of using your implant to open doors etc may violate your companies security policy, please be smart and only do this through your IT department.

The two apps I use for day to day use of my tag are: PLAY STORE: NFC Tools and PLAY STORE: Dangerous NFC
NFC Tools comes with loads of features, not just useful for implants but for all NFC tags making it simple to read and write to your tag a wide variety of records, simply select the type of record you would like e.g. URL and it brings you up a wizard to complete your record.
Dangerous NFC however ensures your implant cannot be locked permanently and allows you to set a 32 bit password to stop others unlocking your tag

Where can I get one?
The implant I have is a NTAG216 from Dangerous things and can be bought here and will set you back £60 GBP, $100 USD or 80 Euros. These come in a sterile injector assembly and also come with a bottle of chloraprep skin prep, sterile surgical gloves, bandages a gauze pads. Most piercing studios however should already have these things.

Getting it implanted
Dangerous Things offer a map of piercers that are competent in the implantation which can be found here and also offer training manuals and videos on the implantation procedure for piercers who have not done it before. as well as a guide for approaching a piercer new to implants, the following is an excerpt from that guide
Print out, in color if possible, the two pro guides from http://dangerousthings.com/pro-guide, specifically the Introduction to Implantable Transponders for Professionals, and the Professional Guide to 2x12mm Transponder Installation documents.
Call local piercers in your area to schedule an appointment to simply come in and talk about a specific piercing you want. Do not talk about the implant or go into detail on the phone, just say you’d like to talk to them before you decide to get a piercing. They should be happy to have you come in and chat.
Go to the shop with the printed documents. Bring the product with you, but do not expect to get it implanted that day. The best you can expect would be to hand over the documents for the piercer to review at a later time, and have a short discussion about what it is you want implanted and why. If you’re lucky, the piercer will be ok with it and you’ll get an implant done that day.
Plan to visit multiple shops until you find one willing to perform the procedure.
If we can help in any way, let the piercer know we’re available for free phone consulting and advanced Q&A, just contact us via the website and we’ll call them.
When you get a piercer to perform the install, please let us know who by sending us an email, submit our contact form, or ping us on Facebook. We’d love to get their information so we can upgrade them to a full partner and list them on our partner map!
I can't fault this advice in the slightest however I would add that a piercer who is familiar with micro-dermals as implantation
The procedure itself doesn't take more than a minute and simply involves injecting the implant under the skin

For now that's all, if there is anything you think I should add or have any questions feel free to ask
*UPDATE*
See the video in the first post to hear my full implant story
I'll lead by example and share my story first, after seeing an article on Biohacking about a year ago I took an interest and started looking for ways to add tech to myself in a more sterile/surgical way than I had seen many people do.
I found a company who sold NFC NTAG216 tags encased in bioglass about the size of grains of rice and preloaded into a syringe like injector assembly, so after months of pondering I contacted my local piercing shop (very good/clean) and proposed the idea to one of the guys, he loved the idea and agreed to do the implantation after reading the training manuals etc.
a week later my parcel arrived from across the pond, all very sterile and included loads of extras like gauze, plasters and Chloraprep.
heading back down to the piercing studio, he took a look at the injector and we spoke about it for about 45 min whilst he marked up placement in my left hand and then he did it, I was expecting a massive amount of pain but it actually only hurt about as much as an injection and a minute later it was done leaving only a red dot behind to show something has ever actually broken the skin.
I now use mine to unlock my Note 2 after installing an Xposed module that allows you to detect nfc whilst locked another great use is to send people links without having to involve email or social media etc, just copy it to my hand and pick up their phone and it opens
Where could I get one done at, and what kind of things do I need to know before I get one?

No it does not affect payments in any way
Today is one week since I got mine put in. It's going fine, I didn't lift weights this week or even play much guitar (killing me).
However, mine migrated a bit. I rewatched the video after the piercer put it in, and realized he inserted the needle a little far back to begin with. Shame on me for not rewatching it right before I went in to get it done. He watched the video, read the manuals (according to him) but he also kinda had an "all-knowing, I know what's best, I've been doing piercings for 20 years" personality.
So mine has migrated towards the back. One end is kinda close to that trapezoid bone and near my thumb bone. It's still within the fleshy part and I haven't had any pain. I'm thinking it will be fine, because even if it was close it's still sitting ABOVE the bones and shouldn't interfere with anything, right?
I guess it could always be removed if it ever caused issues. Trying not to be a hypochondriac, you know? I think it's fine. How was placement on yours?
I'm trying to figure out a door lock right now. I can't replace anything at my apartment complex, so the Samsung Ezons are out of the question. I don't like them anyways, aesthetically. I want the outside of my door to look stock. The options that mount onto existing deadbolts from the inside are all BLE and WiFi. I wish there was a Z-Wave (if you know what that is) NFC/RFID reader. With that set up you could read the tag and send a command to a lock that's Z-Wave compatible as well which would unlock the door.
What're you doing with yours? Since I installed this I'm committed to the technology now lol.

I just got the xNT implanted two weeks ago, awesome little piece of future. Talked a med student buddy of mine into doing it.
Tried to embed my video here, but I can't since this is my first post.
I've decided to ditch the Samsung and go with an Arduino DIY lock using the RC522 as the actual reader. So far I only have a "electric door strike" type of lock, but I think I'm gonna find some kind of electric deadbolt on ebay.
If anyone has an alternative to the RC522 reader that is more compatible with the cylindrical form factor of the tag, please let me know :fingers-crossed:

How has yours healed? Any migration? Mine moved a bit and is further back than I'd like, but it's still within the webbing and don't think it'll cause any issues.
That little arduino reader looks sweet. I've never got into coding anything like that. I know I could figure it out but would honestly prefer to just buy something. Either way, could you keep me updated?
You running NFC LocksreenOffEnabler? It works sweet with my N5. Paired with the Knock Code module with lines and taps hidden, the lock screen is completely blank. Pretty nifty, anyone who would pick this up would have absolutely no clue how to unlock it.

Yes, more or less completely healed after 13 days. Mine has. not. moved. at. all. I'm a bit surprised actually. The guy who did it, did a good job pushing the needle past the final resting place, then pulling back a bit before injecting. This made a nice pocket for the tag to rest in.
Arduino is pretty easy, I had no prior coding experience. You can get finished or almost finished scripts for all kinds of ****. I'll post when its done
Not using my tag with my N5 (yet). I have a ballistic case, which is pretty thick. I can still read it quite consistently but it's not ideal imo. Damn son, blank lockscreen is frisky

Here is a real basic diagram of where mine sits after several months if it's of any help. Black=bone, red = implant

That sounds pretty sweet. What are you using for the knock code? I presume it isn't a stock lockscreen for n5

I really only use mine for a few things:
Unlock my phone,
Send links to people quickly,
Unlock doors and pay etc at uni
And party tricks "you know I can link with your phone using just my mind right?"

Mine ended up spot on to yours. Was originally concerned it was encroaching on the bones but no problems here.

Grab Knock Code Xposed module. All it does is change the stock pattern security to four knock boxes like the G3, so set a pattern before enabling it. I like this setup because it's still stock. I don't like aftermarket lock screens, they always feel cheap to me.
At first it'll have 4 sectioned off boxes that flash when you knock them. Hide the grid and the flashing and it's completely invisible to anyone, but you knock it like normal. Long press any box to reset the pattern if you **** up entering it.
This is the slickest setup I've used. Attached is a photo of my lock screen and a photo of the message it gives you after long pressing.

Do you have any info permanently written to your tag? I had to freeze Tags.apk so I didn't get the empty tag message pop up after every unlock, only thing is disabling that affects the the NFC sounds. Wish there was a way to keep vCard info on the tag without it triggering every time on unlock.

Ahh I think that's about right, I've never had any issues with this placement.

NFC LocksreenOffEnabler has the ability to stop the sounds
I have "bad://access/development" permanently written to mine as I use locale with Tasker and this means you don't get the pop up when you scan it.

Freezing Tags.apk in TiBu gets rid of NFC sounds, regardless of the settings in NFC LSOE, weird bug I guess.
I was referring to something else written to the tag, like a vCard or Tasker task, or url. If you have that line written and something else written following it, it'll still launch the second thing, ya?
I wish there was a way to unlock the phone and not have the other info be scanned until scanning the tag again with the phone unlocked.

Not in this case the bad://access/development command means your tag will only work with locale and Tasker. So anything else written to it would not do anything
Your best bet for this feature would be to drop a message on the support thread for NFC LocksreenOffEnabler. I bet it could be an added feature or another solution could be found easily
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2478163
I'll drop a question there myself
I asked for you, I'll post here if I get a reply

Ya, thanks. I was subscribed to that thread anyways. Someone did ask a similar question before I think, but it never got answered. I may ask too, the more the merrier.
Have you checked aliexpress? There are electronic deadbolts on there. However, I was thinking about all this recently, and I really think the best and most versatile solution for our implants would be Z-wave.
Don't know if you're familiar with it, but Z-Wave is a home automation protocol. Right now, this (https://benext.eu/shop/product_info.php?products_id=44) is the only RFID reader that's Z-Wave compatible, and it's ugly as ****.
You can make a little Rasberry Pi Z-Wave compatible with the RaZberry module. I don't know how to work with any of that stuff. If we were able to make a Z-Wave compatible RFID/NFC card reader, that would open us up to just about anything imaginable. That way, you could set up a reader built into the wall outside that would trigger a Z-Wave deadbolt to open the door, stick another reader by your light to turn on/off lights, one for the coffee maker, etc, etc, etc.
This seems so much better than making a dedicated system for every single thing you want the tag to work with.

I don't follow, why would I want a reader next to my light switch so I could turn my lights on etc. Surely I could just use the switch. Etc I don't see an advantage to these things apart from the deadbolt
