[Feature req][Bug report] request for Bluetooth metadata - SlimRoms Feature Development

hi guys,
Since nearly all custom roms (except OSE which is Slim-based) now have working AVRCP Bluetooth metadata working I wonder if some enterprising member of Slim would be interested in grabbing the patch to get this feature working on the SlimKats:
Have a look here for details.

JasJar wireless Bluetooth stereo hack..

I've read much recently about a "CAB file" created by Khuanchai which enables A2DP style wireless bluetooth stereo on versions of the iMate JasJar. The topic is discussed at length here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?p=275656&sid=494a2df12b48a1e8fdca8ae0e7bfb752
I own an "O2 Exec" which is a rebadged JasJar and would like to download and install this feature if it is safe to do so.
Does anyone know where this CAB file can be found, and, more importantly will it work on my mobile ? A link would be nice.
If there is risk, then it might be worth waiting for the official release, in which case I'd be interested in knowing if anyone knows when this will be ?
Thanks,
Alan
Well, this isn't exactly the same as what you described (the link you gave us refers to the 818 pro, anyway), but should work:

[PRJ] Announce: Wing Linux 0.4.1 Released

Wing Linux version 0.4.1 stable has been released to our project page at:
http://wing-linux.sf.net
Wing Linux is a project devoted to Linux and Android on OMAP850-based devices. Currently, our project has support for the following devices:
HTC Artemis (preliminary)
HTC Elf / Elfin
HTC Excalibur
HTC Gene
HTC Herald
HTC Opal
HTC Pharos
HTC Prophet
HTC Wizard
HTC Star Trek (new!)
Other devices may work too -- Give it a try!
We have Android 1.5r4 (Cupcake) and Angstrom 2009/stable (November 2009 pull) running on these devices, with keyboard / buttons, backlights, bluetooth, GSM/GPRS working in various states on all devices. The best supported devices are the Wizard and the Herald, but others work well too. See detailed device status at:
http://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/wing-linux/wiki/Devices
New features from 0.3 and 0.4 include:
Enhancements for new APNs and calling support
New board support for many devices
Video rotation on keyboard slide for devices that support it
Fixed SD card mounting in Android
Added new fake battery driver so no more /sys_dev cludge is needed to boot Android
Lots of miscellaneous bug fixes
Fully working bluetooth support in Android (not all devices working)
New friendlier installation using progress bars and dialog boxes
Real-time clock support
Angstrom and Android systems are now merged together, allowing access to the full Angstrom system from Android, including super user
LCD and Keyboard/Button backlight controls from Android fully working (Herald/Wizard tested, others may work)
No more use of swap files! We use compressed main memory now!
AndExplorer file manager application now distributed as part of the Android image
If you've used our previous development version, 0.4pre3 or 0.4pre4, we've added the AndExplorer file manager, upgraded the Angstrom and Android images, and added HTC Star Trek support for 0.4.1.
Enjoy!

You can indeed make and receive calls on it -- though sound is still an issue. The other person will be able to hear you, but you won't be able to hear them.
Most of our work this time around was on getting more APNs put in for wider support of GPRS. We're targeting our 0.5 release towards getting working sound.

awesome! Any updates on wifi?
Too bad sound isn't working, since you really need that to be able to use this on daily basis.
BTW are there any release notes somewhere?

Wifi support is targeted for 0.5 when we can move to a newer kernel. As for the release notes, there's a ChangeLog up in the files section (though it's a bit out of date, I've been trying to figure out a way to do release notes that takes into account all the projects we merge together and all the collective changes...). You can also look at the tickets for 0.4 on the wiki -- that covers most of it.

thanks. BTW Is there any specific feedback needed that I can help you with?

Nothing specific -- just what works and what doesn't. The more info we get about what works on each device, the better, as it tells us what direction to go in next.

allright. I will test and report here the results. Last question: how do I update? Do I need to uninstall the old version or does the new install overwrite the old?

The cab files will upgrade previous installations when you install them (replacing the kernel, initramfs, and rootfs.tar.gz), but there's no way right now to upgrade the root filesystem image non-destructively. For that, you'll need to delete /Storage Card/linux/rootfs.img (make sure you have filename extensions showing -- there's a rootfs.img.status that should not be deleted). After that, just start Wing Linux like usual and it'll go through the installer again.
If you've made significant changes to your old installation, I'd recommend backing up anything important first, as this will completely reset the installation.

Hey guys, i have a T-Mobile Wing and this actually runs pretty good. I can go online and use the browser, what got me wondering is why is there no marketplace included with this? Just curious, i see you guys are making an amazing progress =]]

The Market app is a proprietary app of Google. As such, we're not permitted to distribute it. Which is unfortunate, but we gotta play by the rules.
Glad to hear it's working well for you.
- d
you can however install apps by simply adding them to your storage card and open them from there...
I've tested version 4.1 today
What worked
- contacts
- import contacts from sim
- browser
- installing apps (I've tried Tetris- only the screen size seems wrong)
- sending sms
- receiving sms
- make call (no sound)
- end call
- receive call (but I have no idea how to answer it...)
- AndExplorer
- music (without sound ;-), just the browsing part)
- changing the homescreen (adding shortcuts, change background)
Not working
- power suspend (top bottom on elf)
- camera (is starting up with blocked pattern and then goes back to start screen
- camcorder
- sound
- WIFI
- bluetooth (hangs on 'turning on...')
- calendar
- gallery (it loads, the screen turns black and it returns to start screen)
- alarm (it loads, shows alarms and clock but your not able to change or set an alarm)
That's what I've tested. Maybe more things are working or not working.
Nice! Great work darkstar62!
Haven't had a chance to check this project's status lately. Perhaps I can get bluetooth working on the Opal with the newer Angstorm.
I have two midterms tomorrow, and another two the next day so this'll obviously have to wait.
By the way, the detailed devices status link in the first post is broken.

Hmm, seems that link points to:

where in reality it should point to:

Im pretty impressed with the progress of this project. I cant wait for the sound and smaller niggles to be sorted out then my trusty old wizard can becomes more than usefull again. The most recent windows mobile 6.5 releases are just way too bloated and sluggish on older phones. Great work guys
0.4.2 bugfix released
After receiving feedback from HTC Star Trek users, we have released a 0.4.2 bugfix release. This should correct booting issues found by star trek users in the 0.4.1 release.
Additionally, we've added the ability to reboot your phone from Android. Simply hold down End and select Power Off. Your device will then reboot.
Enjoy.

Yeah i figured it uses the end key as the power key.

Sadly, no. The Jade uses a Qualcomm MSM processor which is not supported by our project.
You might take a look at the Vogue Linux project, they deal with qualcomm processors and have made really good progress.

[Q] Bluetooth NDK support (for WiiMote)

Hello,
I would like to have full Bluetooth support with the HTC Desire and other HTC Sense roms. I have tried the normal NDK hack where you install some so files and headers but all the functions return -1 . I have been trying to find a solution but on the web but nothing...
Then I tried to strace the settings app so that I can find a working kernel call but nothing! If someone wants to help me or just suggest ideas please reply. I believe many developers want this.
My ultimate goal is to connect to the WiiMote. Also I wonder if the opposite is possible: using the phone as a WiiMote to play Wii (the motion sensors are already there....)
Thank you very much
Fingers crossed this works out. Really want my controller working. good luck with this

I was just wondering if any more progress is gonna be made on HTC Sense devices. I know there were issues with the Bluetooth stack on those devices, but HTC has published the BlueZ source code for those devices on their developer website now.

[Q] [Question] TMC via FM-Radio

Hi everybody, as I sadly have no programming skills I was wondering if sombody is thinking about a Project to implement TMC via FM-Radio for our desires. I know that there are similar Projects for windows mobile but sadly I think the development has stopped and support for android isn't given.
It would be great to use fm - tmc with navigon.
Thanks for any replies

The Question is: Is it worth it since we have Dataconnection on Desire
Defenetly, it would be great not to have to use the internet connection - if you are in some different country for example
What's TMC?
