POMP C6S 5.5" NFC/Octa-Core 1.7GHz MTK6592 2GB RAM/32GB ROM DualSIM / 1920x1080 FHD
Topic is about the new POMP C6S 5.5" NFC/Octa-Core 1.7GHz MTK6592 2GB RAM/32GB ROM DualSIM / 1920x1080 FHD.
Let us collect all hacking & development info here about this device, and help each other.
First impressions
This is a really HIGH QUALITY phone from China.
What I like about it? I like the simple square design, and the screen is big and clear, when off the screen is 100% black (not grey). Also the phone is pretty thin. Another great plus is the high build quality and that it has REAL features like NFC, OTG, MHL/HDMI, WIFI DIRECT/Miracast and 2GB RAM/32GB ROM!
Pros: The phone is very fast! 28800 in AnTuTu says it all. High build quality and very good materials. The screen is also of a very high quality, and the fact that the whole screen is totally black when off is something I really like. The batterylife is very good, it seems to be a true 3000 mah battery in this device. The phone has a dedicated hardware button for the camera. The SIMtray is a dualsimtray for 2 micro SIM cards. The reception/signal is strong in this device, so far I had no problems when talking with people. The sound/backspeaker and headphone quality is also very good and loud. The phone support real OTA, OTG, MHL, Miracast, Airgestures in both ways and NFC which is real nice features.
Cons: The UI is not everyones taste - but you can just install another launcher! No notification LED as far I can see.
The lockscreen is pretty standard. The backcover can not be removed, also the builtin memory can't be extended, but it comes with total 32GB ROM. The price for this phone is a bit high, but on the other hand, you get a phone with high quality! For some people this phone may be too big, it has a 5.5 inch screen.
Benchmarks
AnTuTu score is: 28822

Hey, you can see how it work here in my video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ws8_aZ2Gsg4
it is basically the same for the Pomp C6S (and all other MTK6592) as for the phone I use in that video.
You just need a TV with miracast builtin, or an external miracast dongle connected to it. Then on the phone you go in the settings and connect it. You don't need any extra software etc.
The POMP also support cable, MHL to HDMI, so you can connect via cable also to a TV.

Thank you i will try

By the way, here you have updated version v2.03 multilanguage for this phone ive already uploaded in case you dont have installed (i dont think so normally it comes with v2.00) http://www.needrom.com/mobile/pomp-c6s-2/ and tell me how it works with your phone, it seems to be bit better

Hi thanks, I have 2.02 it seems. So 2.03 have how many languages? Do I just put C6Spomp_92_cn_fhd_en_fomat_v2.03_kashua.zip on the sdcard in the root? and then choose update from locale file in the settings? or just with Spflashtool?
How did you root your C6S?
Any other changes in 2.03? And do I have to clear any caches or factory reset afterwards? Where did you get 2.03 from? (sorry for all the questions )

mm, when I try to root with vroot, the tools reboots the phone, but then the phone stops at some screen saying that it want to restore the phone. But when I accept or deny it, it seems nothing more happens with vRoot, and it times out and fail? any suggestions?
Or how was the process when you did it with vRoot?

Ok I used http://www.shuame.com/en/root/ instead now, and with that it worked right away, don't know why I was unable to root it with vROOT but nevermind, and thx for your help.
Did you try any of the custom roms on needrom? http://www.needrom.com/?s=POMP+C6S&sa=search&scat=0
I see there are 3 custom ROMs now for the C6S.

It looks like v2 Zip file is corrupted
About v1:
* I love the menus, he new layout, the overall appearance
* The ROM is snappy but definitely slower than MSI
* I have an issue with the drop down menu. It works well with ADW @ 240 dpi (ie the original settings)
When I move to 180dpi it still works
When I install my applications, it just get screwed up and never drops down to the bottom and get stuck there with no reaction
Think it comes from bad interaction with Launcher Pro... Will try uninstalling but it could be any of my other apps....
Anyway I think I am just going to revert back to MSI... Spent already too much time experimenting
Since you are into porting other OS, what about this OS called "ICS" ? Ehehe
*** Edit: uninstalled Launcher Pro but my Status Bar is still screwed... Must be another of my apps but can't try one by one...
I guess MSI will remain my main ROM (It's anyway faster)
*** Edit 2: maybe I was unfair about the speed. The CPU wasn't overclocked (Fr some reason) and the governor was not my governor of choice. Nevertheless the issue with the status bar is upsetting me. I just have no idea what is causing this Definitely one of my apps given the fact it happens after restoring my apps through Titanium Backup

Now I am really f#cked...
I cant boot anymore and my tab in CWR refused to go to the end of installaion of any ROM I have on my SD Card
When I switch off the battery charging icon just show grew but doesn't go up to the step where it shows the battery charging. Will try flashing from download mode maybe but now I am really worried. Might have to go through reformating partition but then I'll loose everything I saved on internal SD
Sh#t... Never happened to me before
The error I get is:
assert failed : getprop("ro.product.device") == "galaxytab" etc, etc... (Lots of text
And then E: Error in /emmc/goomanger/BLINDMokee_v1.zip
(status 7)
Installation aborted
Tried from my external SD with other ROMS and get exactly the same message
No...
Anybody has a clue on how to make an Odin package from one of the CWMR zip files? I gess Ill try that first
If not working I might have to go through a repartitioning but does anybody know if I have any chance to accces first to my internal SG to backup all my stuff (from CWMR)... Really worried to loose a lot of data now...
Edit: When i plug the tab it doesn't stay in charging mode, but instead boots into recovery. That's really weird and I am quite worried it is actually not charging... In which case this means I don't have much time before fixing the tab. After that no battery and probbaly no way to charge it... It is not techniclly bricked since I can access CW Recovery and download mode, but I ma quite worried
Is this the awaited update to msi or shall we expect another?

I downloaded it and installed it. Very nice rom. Beautiful and smooth with lots of goodies. However, I unistalled it after 10 minutes. I downloaded, wiped, wiped, and wiped. Installed, booted, rebooted to recovery fixed permissions "enjoyed ". Camera forced closed every time. Wiped repeated the whole process with an extra wiping. Still no camera. I went to the market and downloaded a camera app but that didn't help.
Nice rom if you can do without the camera.
I can't. I actually use my tab as my only device. Its got to do it all with stability.

here is uncorrupted v2 zip.
camera seems to work (a tester sent me a video and picture
(tester also adds, "its a neat camera app. love the options)
after fully booted, try a kernel from here: http://goo.im/devs/dizgustipated/Kernels
the landscape kernel is tons better
Diz in testing the BlindMooke I have found it to be fast reliable and everything is working well for me. Currently I am on V2.
Camera works perfectly and I like the app. Nice to have the 2d barcode button there ready to go.
** Note - Update the kernal, I suggest BOCA landscape, no issues with camera after this.
3g works fine and is fast, getting good HSPA speeds. Crossing the harbour bridge in Sydney on my Gs2 using droptus often drops the connection for a short time, using the tab I get a good signal so can't fault it.
After fixiing permissions wifi is fast and connects immediately.
The controls are brilliant, nicely laid out and easy to understand.
I am using SBP 3d launcher, the extra ram from the ROM and kernal allows it to run very well.
In the settings, notification options they menu is all in chineese which so far is the only fault I can find.
I love this rom due to the great layout, good graphics and great functions. To install I followed your intructions.
1. baclup with titanium.
2. factory reset
3. wipe cache
4. wipe dalvik cache
5. Install ROM
6. Install your kernal. Boca Landscape is a good one to use.
7. fix permissions.
8. reboot. wait install super user.
9. reboot and use it.
I have had issues in the past with the camera app FCing, I did a restock at that point to ensure there were no files left over causing me problems. I have not had a problem since and that includes with testing Joy as well as Mooke and blind mooke.
Key here is this ROM is for those who want a good easy to use nice ROM. It does not yet allow you to set your govener, it isn't built for being a rocket but it is nice with many features that are just brilliant.
if you want control, long battery life and high speed go MSI.
If you like another well known look and feel then Diz has something for you as well. For me this is my ROM.
First Diz, I'd like to thank you a million times for your patience nd helping me step by step to get out of the corner where I was stuck. Even though your ROMs were not faulty at all you help me to get my Tab back to normal and fully functioning without any data lost
As far as BlindMOOKE is concerned, I share the opinion below. t looks really nice and is extremely comfortable. It is probably your nicest looking ROM. But for speed lovers MSI is the one
I disagree on one point though: you can have the control of the governor, the overclcking and the undervolting as lo as you ave the right kernel (I use Voltage Control or CPU Master and they both work well with the lndscape knel for instance)

Thanks, yes you are right with apps to control the CPU etc but just now the selection of govener isn't available in the ROM.
I am not a power user so this one works for me, I did find issues with autobrightness and the Quick Pic app after taking a photo was crashing. Did an update on that in the market and all is fine with camera and photos.

If you wanta large choice of governor you ca flash another kernel from Diz
I would advise the Landscape kernel where you have a large choice
They are available on Goo manager
I need testers (i now have 8 roms and need a wider tester base)

thank you

Bugs/Cons:
In stocklauncher with stock firmware you can not add widgets. But you can install another launcher, then it will work fine.
This is soon going to be fixed in a future update according to the manufacture.
No backlight in the touchbuttons.
Device will get a little hot around the camera area on the back, when running 3D games.
Camera could be better, but it is generally ok for the price!

Hi,
Great start of new topic/model, and nice links to possible fixes.
I just received my Elephone P2000 and after a few days I am still in doubt about it.
It is a lot of phone for little money, but looking at the specs I had my expectations set a bit higher.
Okay, maybe I am a bit prejudiced as I use this phone to replace my iPhone 5s
I ran into the same issue with adding Widgets, so I am glad there is a fix. Thanks for that !
The main problem I am still facing (and on bbs.elephone.hk I read that I am not the only one) is the Wifi connection. It keeps dropping at random. This makes the phone utterly useless for me since push mail, whatsapp, newsflash, etc are simply unreliable
I think the 720p screen is not as bad as some reviewers state. Even for a big 5.5" screen it is quite okay. Still in doubt if 5.5" is the right size for me
The camera however is a real disappointment, 13MP but grainy and unfocused.
Battery runs out quite fast. Even without WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS I managed to run out within 4 hours of fiddling around.
Although memory seems plenty, I ran out of memory quite rapidly when installing software, and found that adding a microSD card and using APP2SD solved my problem.
It took me a while to figure out how to place the 2 SIM cards (1 regular and one micro) and the microSD memory card, but once I managed to fit them this really works fantastic.
I hope Elephone will come up with more software updates since this could really be a nice phone for a nice price, and 5.5" is really in the demand at the moment.
Keep up the good work with adding updates and user experiences! Thanks !
Thanks for your feedback! I agree that the phone can not be compared to a iPhone 5. But also remember the huge price difference!
You also cant compare a Porsche with an Audi, both fine cars, but they are not the same class and cost different.
Regarding the WiFi, it is strange, because I have not experienced any problems with the WiFi on mine. It always works stable. But I agree that the camera could have been much better, its not super good. Just ok for fun pictures I would say.
Battery in standby mode is good for me, several days, but when I use it, only max 1 day. But try to disable GPS and Googles location service, it uses a lot of extra battery! And if it doesn't help, turn the brightness of the screen 10% down.
excuse me guys...it's vroot secure for unlock the elephone? i read about a malware in vroot process....

Hi,
I used VRoot 1.73 from vrootdownload.org and mgyun.com/en/GetVRoot since this was supposed to be in English. The newer 1.7.8 seems to be available only in Chinese, and my Chinese is quite limited
Installation is quite easy (start the setup on your Windows machine/virtual-machine and do not choose all the extra software and browser add-ons, start the VRoot program, hook up the phone to your system, press ROOT...and wait..phone reboots and windows software states 'rooted'). After installation I found 2 Icons with chinese text on the phone, 1 containing (chinese) advertisements and links to other software from the developer mgyun, and one supposedly something to do with the rooting/super-user proces (also most text and choices in chinese). The rooting proces is quite simple...and appears successful (apps requiring root access do start).
However, chinese pop-ups keep coming up when a proces requires root/superuser access and I have no clue what choices to make.
This made me decide to 'unroot' and remove the software. The chinese advertisement link remains on the phone, but this can easily be uninstalled.

I completely agree that this phone is in another league and cannot be compared to iPhone. The price is incredible for this phone, plus the huge 5,5" inch screen (bigger screens seem to be the current 'fashion'), dual sim, and the fantastic specs made me buy it. Without looking at the specs (octacore, memory, fingerprint, ips, etc) I would have been amazed...simply because of its price and neat design.
I have seemed to narrow the WiFi problem down to problems with DHCP. When I assign a fixed address the phone disconnects (according to wifi fixer) and reconnects, but when using dhcp things appear to go wrong. At home of course I can assign a fixed address, but at work and public places this is no option. There seem to be multiple users on the elephone forum that experience similar wifi problems, so I hope there will be a fix.
Interesting to see if there will be a stable and supported version of MIUI rom for the P2000, did you try the beta ?
Thanks!

Just flash this ROM with Spflashtool from needrom http://www.needrom.com/mobile/elephone-p2000-3/
After that you will have ROOT, not with vROOT but with normal SuperSU (not in Chinese). Also this ROM fixes the widgets and gives you wake gestures, so you can for example draw a C when the screen is off and it starts the Camera, or you just double tap to wake the screen.
I did not try the MIUI beta, because some features still don't work.
tnx
i prefer make root in a clean rom. can i use framaroot? i don't see elephone in compatibility list...any one have used frama root?

That ROM is clean, it is from Elephone and also the only ROM that fixes the widgets. Framaroot cant root this phone. If you want to root your old ROM manually you can only do it with the "read back method" and MTK droidtools plus Sp flash tool.
Read back root tutorial here by ITXtutor (but it is more complicated)

ok
mhmm...ok i think that i try needrom's rom xD hahaahahaha
so..i read this in rom description:
I do NOT recommend to flash the "Preloader" so please untick that part in SP Flash Tools before you flash!
(You can flash it anyway without the Preloader, then it will just keep your original on the phone).
ALWAYS have a working backup of your original ROM before you flash a new unknown ROM.

Just untick the Preloader in Spflash tool after you loaded the scatter file and before you then flash, so you flash everything but the Preloader. Its safer to keep the original Preloader intact on the phone.

No, there is no problem that you don't flash the Preloader. The Preloader is the same, both ROMs are 4.4.2 Kitkat, only change is that the new ROM has fixed widgets and some extra features. Even IF there should be a problem, you could always flash the preloader afterwards again. But it is recommended never to flash the Preloader, better just leave the original on the phone. But if you want you can also just try to flash it, should be okay. But its not necessary.
On older devices, flashing the Preloader could brick them (in the told days) therefore it is not recommended. And you don't need to flash the Preloader when you flash new ROM, so why run the risk?

No the ROM don't change your camera or speed. Its the same as you current ROM, just with some fixes. If your not satisfied with the ROM then just flash the old ROM back again. The stock normal ROM can also be found on needrom.com

SuperSU can give problems with this ROM and some applications that can be resolved by replacing SuperSU by Superuser from ClockworkMod.
I had problems with Titanium Backup and those were solved by the change above.
Which USB drivers P2000 and Win 8.1 64bit?
Can anyone tell me which usb drivers to use for Elephone P2000 in Win 8.1 64bit.
Droid Tools en SP Flashtool do not see my phone.
Thanks in advance.
Update:
I used a windows 7 PC with pdanet mtk drivers and was successfull in flashing my phone!!!
Android or MIUI
Hi,
I followed your instructions and was able to flash the P2000. Thanks for the instructions and the link to the ROM
When starting I noticed that the icons look quite different from the default Android icons, they look much more like the MIUI icons. Is the ROM from your first post really a factory ROM provided by Elephone ??
The new ROM btw still has many of the original problems (WiFi and memory plus power management) but at least the widgets can be added and SuperUser works, so I am quite happy with it.
Thanks

Unfortunately I have not found a way to root it yet.
it is possible to root:
i found it in the official forum bbs.elephone.hk
to root the stock rom lollipop 5.0 you need SP-Flash Tool and the CWM Recovery for lollipop, you can find it all on needrom.com
just unpack, flash the recovery.img with SPFT, put BETA-SuperSU-v2.49.zip on telefon or sdcard, go to recovery and flash BETA-SuperSU-v2.49.zip
or you can make a downgrade to kitkat 4.4.4 because the stock 5.0 is very buggy. The Kitkat Rom you can find also on needrom.com is already rooted.

Thanks! But in the latest update for the Lollipop ROM they fixed the bugs. So it s not buggy anymore, please tell me what bugs you still have or mean? No need to go back to 4.4.4 anymore as I see it.
My phone is sometimes very hot under use.
Some Apps doesnt install because it says not compatible with this version or device ... but i use market helper to install it.

Did you install latest firmware update? and what apps do not work for you? give me 3 examples.
Hi,
Just receive my G2 yesterday and experience really hot operating temperature (upper left corner). I was thinking about downgrading to Kitkat as I am currently on Lollipop. Apparently I shall have the latest firmware (build Elephone_G2_20150424). @ s7yler have akso experience this warm/hot operation phenomena ?

I spent hours failing to flash the recovery and getting nonsensical error messages ('Perhaps the phone has powered up too quickly"), before realizing that I did not have the latest version of SPFT. Older versions will not work with the MTK6732M. Everything went smoothly once I used SPFT v5.1516.00; later versions will also work, of course.
(a) Unzip the custom recovery you get from needrom.com or elsewhere
(b) Install MTK-SP drivers
(c) Run SPFT and select the scatter file in the unzipped recovery package
(d) Press download with the phone NOT connected to the PC
(e) Then connect the phone via USB with battery removed
See this link for more details
The above steps will flash the recovery. you can also flash a new ROM (e.g. CWM if it is ever released) in the same way.
For the next step (flashing SuperSU to root) you do not need a PC; do it through the recovery. (To boot into recovery, hold the VolUp and Power buttons down at the same time until the phone vibrates breifly.) Also it is not necessary to flash the beta version of SuperSU; the stable version (currently 2.46) will work fine. Just to state the obvious, installing SuperSu from Play won't root the phone.

I own this device. Actually it isn't really a great deal. Personally wouldn't recommend. Totally waste of money. Despite official promises phone received no updates or any other ROMs are available. Overheating and poor performance on official lollipop so far. Housing is covered with cheap glossy paint which can be easily damaged. Screen quality does not satisfy at all. It has edgy picture and poor, step-switch backlit. On screen buttons have no backlit at all. And serious battery calibration issues, phone doesn't display real data at all and doesn't last long.
Already ordered (the last!!) G9, sounds bad..

Issues so far: (stock lollipop)
screen brightness fixed (will post zip later)
battery life fixed by decreasing CPU frequency and disabling unnecessary network bands
overheating fixed by decreasing CPU frequency
dialer call limit exceeded problem fixed (will post zip later)

After I fixed, overheating and battery issues device is not that bad after all. If you have problems with installing software from PlayStore gets the gapps from here. The overheating problem is due to processor being throttled up to 1287 MHz by default. Get root version of SetCPU and set governor to userspace 468-468 cfq. Add profile for Screen off event 702-468 userspace. Also disable unnecessary bands in engineering menu for better battery life. All of the above is for stock 5.0. Have not tried device on stock KK, but according to user reviews on Russian forums performance is great. I am using the phone as my main device on custom lollipop MIUI V7 5.10.2 by rediska32 from 4PDA forums. After investing some to fix issues I am pretty satisfied with G2, considering the price. Device easily holds up to 64GB sd (have not tried more). My screen brightness is usually around 40-60% and battery hold up to 2 days of moderate using. Forget the camera btw. PM me if you have any questions, I will post available fixes and ROMs for G2 here.
Hello. I've got Elephone G2 Android 5.0 which have a bug with switching MAC-adress after every restart. Found this instruction (from official elephone forum), but the stock ROM (also official one) doesn't contain MD1_DB and AP_DB files. Also I found MD1_DB file in my phone, but I have no idea where can I found the second one. What am I doing wrong?
You probably damaged your NVRAM

Here is backup of stock NVRAM with fix for MAC and NVRAM Warning err 0x10. Try replacing wifi and wifi_custom files in nvram\APCFG\APRDEB only. If this does not help re-flash stock and do it again. If you loose your NVRAM you can use this backup to restore it. Just edit the imei and mac. And always backup before doing anything to your device. Hope this helps.

Hey guys, just switched to this phone, and since it's so new to the market, very few resources are available to explain some common problems. I'll try and answer some of those.
How do you unlock the bootloader on the Mi Max?
- apply for bootloader unlock permission on http://en.miui.com/unlock/, wait for a couple of days, download the app. Once you get the permission, then it gets a bit tricky. To unlock the bootloader you need the Chinese Developer ROM . This isn't mentioned ANYWHERE along the official site. It's frustrating. Follow the steps in this guide - http://en.miui.com/thread-307139-1-1.html, but use the fastboot ROM of Chinese Developer ROM instead of the global stable ROM. Once you have Chinese Developer ROM running, make sure you turn on Find My Phone via Mi App. This is important otherwise you will get 'Could not verify' message. Once the find my phone thing is running, it's easy to unlock the bootloader. Just follow the official guide via the app.
How do I root Mi Max?
Once the phone has been unlocked, use fastboot to flash TWRP. How? See here - http://en.miui.com/thread-293031-1-1.html. Once you have TWRP running, download and flash SuperSU, and you're all good.
My Mi Remote app will only show Chinese remotes and not my country's local remotes. Why?
Switch over the locale to your local country in settings > additional settings, and restart the app. All done.
Which screen protector is best for my Mi Max?
Actually, buyer beware - NONE of the tempered glasses work well on the Mi Max. They don't cover the whole screen. The Mi Max has a curved 2.5D screen, so the right and left edges don't get covered by the tempered glass. Looks pretty ugly to be honest. I've ordered a Chinese TPU screen guard from aliexpress that claims to cover the whole screen. I'll update this guide when I get it.
Does the Mi Max have double tap to wake?
Yes it does! But it is turned off by default. Go to settings>display to turn it on.
What other hardware problems are there with the Mi Max?
The charger port is made from aluminum. It is very soft, so just by using it a couple of times, you'll end up getting ridges along the bottom side, where the micro USB cable goes. It's a problem with all recent Xiaomi phones, and you can't do anything about it. See this pic for details - http://i.imgur.com/z7ckOuB.jpg. I've tried to highlight the 2 tracks made by the micro USB cable along the charger port.
Also, the body is easily scratched at the chamfered aluminum edges, so make sure you handle it with care. The metal is just too soft. It is makes the Mi Max very slippery.
How is the speaker on the Mi Max?
Coming from a Oneplus One, the single bottom firing speaker (yes, single. The other is a dummy) was a huge disappointment. It barely gets the job done, and it's one area where I personally feel Xiaomi shouldn't have cut corners.
How is the Snapdragon 650 processor on the Mi Max? Does it lag or stutter?
Let me put all fears to rest - this is the smoothest phone I've ever used, period. I've used a lot of them, but this phone is by far the smoothest. No lags, stutters, out of memory problems, app redraws, nothing. Everything just works.
How long does it take to charge the Mi Max?
From zero to 100%, with a quick charge charger, it'll take around 2 hours. On the standard charger, around 3 hours. But let me tell you - you'll end up forgetting your charger. The phone is a true beast in the battery department. I easily get 2.5 days worth of battery with around 9 hrs screen on time with a single charge. It's unbelievable.
UPDATE -
I was just tinkering around with Mi MAX and trying out LOS14.1, and ran into 2 problems -
My PC stopped recognizing my Xiaomi Mi Max phone all of a sudden. The USB won't work and the phone is not recognized. What should I do?
Assuming your USB cable and phone USB port are working, you can do the following -
(1) Go to C:\Windows\INF
(2) Type “wpdmtp.inf” in search bar provided to the right of the address bar in Windows 10.
(3) Once you have found it, just right click on it and select install. It will take a few seconds.
(4) Connect your device to the pc.
Done.
How do I get past the TWRP screen that asks for a password to decrypt my phone after clean flashing MIUI via EDL mode?
So here's a strange bug I found - if you clean flash MIUI via EDL/MiFlash tool, then flash TWRP and boot into it, it will ask for a password to decrypt. Now, my limited research tells me noone knows the password. So, what now?
1. BACK UP ALL YOUR DATA including songs, pics, contacts AND TRANSFER THEM TO A PC/DRIVE/CLOUD. THIS is very important! What we'll do will format your internal memory completely.
2. skip the password screen
3. go to wipe
4. select the right hand button that says wipe data
5. reboot to recovery again
6. you'll note that if you try to boot into MIUI, you will not be able to do so. This is because you now have an unencrypted data folder but the stock kernel cannot read that. The solution? You need to flash SuperSU on it. But we just formatted our internal memory, how do we get the SuperSU zip? 3 ways to get past this -
a) use an external memory card. Load SuperSU zip on it, and flash the zip, and it'll boot up
b) use USB OTG drive, load it with SuperSU zip, go to mounts in TWRP, mount USB OTG, and flash it from there
c) if you don't have either of these, use adb sideload in TWRP. Go to advanced, adb sideload on TWRP. Download and rename SuperSU to supersu.zip, copy it to your adb folder on windows. Then open command propmt in your adb folder, type 'adb devices' without the quotes to start adb. Then, type 'adb sideload supersu.zip' without the quotes. ADB will flash supersu now, and the phone will boot.
That's it.
Let me know if you have more doubts!
This is a really useful post, thanks.

I have the same problem, the top and the bottom part of the phone is made from plastic. Xiaomi should have put a USB Type-C port instead of micro USB.

Update - I've asked for a replacement unit because the scratches at the charger port kept getting worse. Let's see.
Really...?! Sorry but it's ridiculous IMHO...

What do you do if your country isn't on the list? I have flashed a global ROM but it's missing most of the major countries on the locale list (e.g. the US, Canada, the UK, France, Germany, Japan etc).

The global ROM has US as one of the locales. To be honest though, it really doesn't matter which one you pick. Before Xiaomi had US as one of the locales, I just set it has Hong Kong. Now that I'm using US, I see no difference.

Mine doesn't have an option for the United States. Right now I have it set to Singapore which is fine but not exactly ideal.
What in the hell did you use to take that screenshot btw?

So, I got the replacement unit, and guess what - it has the same hardware 'problem'. I am not sure it really is a problem as much as it is a side effect of using aluminium - the charger port gets chaffed very easily on repeated use. Anyway. The phone is awesome! Best decision ever made to buy this phone. Now, just waiting for the kernel source for Mi Max so CM 13 can come on this beast!
One small but annoying problem is when I use Gmail on the mi max, when I click on an embedded link in a mail, the browser is not on top but behind, so I have to find it using notification. Anyone else have this problem?
My 128 GB MI Max ordered on mi.com India should get delivered in a day or 2. So, how do it root it ? Would it be with MIUI 7 ? Do i upgrade to MIUI 8 before rooting?
Totally new to Xiaomi . Have been a Samsung Note user, but trying Max ( love the size ) after the Note 7 debacle. Could somebody explain in detail as to what i need to do ? read somewhere that India Mi Max is with Global ROM and it cannot be rooted.
I've followed the guide to install twrp and have flashed rr. Any way to modify the lights on the navigation buttons at the bottom? (The fixed buttons.) I'm using nova launcher.
Cheers.
can u tell me how to re-lock bootloader?if its possible..

That's a bug with the RR rom. Would be better if you ask this in the thread.

No need to upgrade before rooting. It is likely to be miui 7. Follow the exact guide that is in the OP and it will work. However, get the correct TWRP (yours is model Helium).

No it won't. You have to flash the Chinese developer ROM. It won't work otherwise. Once it is rooted, you can switch back to Global ROM.

It's weird that my firmware is nearly not as up to date as yours. Mine does have the original Android OS side menu you show on that last post you made on the 6.0 thread.
I keep getting I'm on the latest version. I'll try a few more times. Not that big of a deal as I'm not trying to fix any issue.

there is a difference that with TVos you have more adjustment options for your monitor, being only Android 9.0 you are limited, it looks like a cell phone system in the project. HORRIBLE!

Hello!
I also have the Wambo T2 Max with android 9.0 my firmware is Sep112021-190039. I managed to upgrade to your version, but the lag is still there with an HDMI input if I use any type of keystone correction which enables zoom.
Without zoom it is perfect, but still, it's a bummer as I have to reset the zoom to 0 all the time for me to not have the lag. Might help a little @andresousa.com
Oh and also you need to extract the files from the zip on the USB ( I actually had both the ZIP and the extracted files together so not sure which worked ) and make sure your USB has a FAT32 format. Before you plug your USB in, take the AC cord out, insert the USB and then turn on the projector, you will have to wait for it to do its thing.
I have done tests with GPU rendering on and EDID 2.0, still the same shuttering with any keystone/zoom settings. I still have to see how it behaves in these conditions with the 1080p settings.
The thread from beforehand recommended using ABD commands and the Chinese Launcher, which I might try to see if it changes anything... .
T2 Max Android 9, Oct152021 firmware. Not sure if it's TVOS or Android.
Supplied PrimeVideo does work (old version) but latest PrimeVideo from Google store fails when playing video (Sometihing went wrong is displayed).
Any idea ?
Moreover, software update does not display new version :-(

That's the thing, I do t use the HDMI, at the moment. Most of my usage is within apps installed on the projector itself.
I also did install the developer options app and enabled the force GPU rendering option, and lowered the animations. You can try that.
I haven't tried the ADB hack for overclocking the CPU. I'm also not using the original launcher and using the HALauncher instead
Can't confirm the Prime video as I don't have it. I have tested successfully Stremio, Netflix, Crunchyroll (too much propaganda, better use the web version with Brave Browser), RedBull TV, YouTube, and some others so far.

I downloaded this and it only contains MTK368P.bin,unlike the previous firmware I updated which contains more files and it update via the bootable method.
So for this MTK368P.bin, we have to update via the GUI and NOT via the bootable method? Thanks.
