1. They scratch because they made of plastic and not glass
2. Dunno
3. You can buy a set of lens protector from slickwraps or you can buy the nillkin glass H+ screen protector and they give a set of lens protector(that is what I have)
4. Some people have loose volume rocker(like me ). Some others have adhesive on the speaker grills. Others have a couple dead pixels. Personally I have only the loose volume rocker, not a big deal....

FYI not everyone has scratches to the actual lens of the camera so it's not necessarily because of the material of the lens. From my personal experience with this phone it was the coating that was on the lens that was actually scratching. It was bothering me for the longest time because I thought I had scratches all over it. I used Qtips and toothpaste to polish off the coating and now the camera looks flawless.

Can confirm, international device gets scratches easily.... although still not annoying or noticeable on the pictures... will change if it gets worse#

I took my m8 to the beach ,sand scratched my phones aluminum back but not my lens.. And I removed a lot of sand from the Camera Lens...

Glass over camera lens, scratches?

Hi.
Just wanted to see how many of you guys got scratches on the glass over the camera lens.
Mine has a lot of tiny scratches and i've always been very careful with my device. Always put it down on tables and other places with gentle care. At least they could've put gorilla glass instead of the plastic? because of the bad design choice with the camera.

I also have small scratches. I bought a case wit added material near camera for glass protection.
I always put some transparenttape over the lens ..to protect it
When I want to make high quality pictures I remove it and at home I put new tape ...
Put tape on coin ,cut a bit ,and put on lens..

Mine's OK
I have one bigger scratch which stops right where the lens starts, so I guess I got lucky.
Apart from that only small scratches. But it sure is vulnerable

I've got scratches, but mostly at the lower part of the glass.

You'd think HTC would have forseen this. Wasn't a problem with Sensation. Irreplaceable as well.
In the first week i always laid my phone on top of something as I saw this coming..but yeah..you know how it goes
Some minor scratches now, can't see it on pictures tho.
I have put a piece of finely cut clear tape over it. Cheap fix. No noticeable quality difference in pictures. I so far I have changed the tape once due to few minor scratches.

That's where most of my scratches are to.

Does the phone back scratch?

Wanting to have my phone just with a screen protector and I was wondering if anybody has had their one x without a back case since they got it and the results of that scratch wise? Thanks

my phone isn't scratched at all in the cover, but on the screen i have a big scratch in the middle! policarbonate is fantastic! it's cleanable with eraser and it's difficult to ruin!

Fantastic going to take my case off!!

Well, I buyed back casing mainly to protect the camera lens and better grip. The polycarbonate is fine for me.
You should definitely have your phone in a case.
1) your camera lens will certainly get scratched
2) you'll be back to post a new thread "WTF? My case is all scratched up! HTC did it!"
But really, get a case, even a thin one dude. Some of them look pretty dang nice!
I've had mine since release day here in the UK, don't keep it in a case and I have zero scratches on it. Covered in fingermarks but that's to be expected
Bought mine back in april. Camera lens was scratched before there was a cover available in the Netherlands. Took only 1 week to get it scratched.
Definitly get the cover.

Got mine since April, not even a single scratch on back and camera-lens.
based on my experience, the back case scratches easily, camera lens is ok. had mine sitting on a wooden floor over my wallet when i accidentally nudged it and fell off my wallet and scratched the floor, when i checked there was a huge horizontal scratch above the loud speaker grill. a bit disappointed but i think ill be sticking with aluminium next time.

Haha, aluminium is the _worst_ material I can think of for a phone's back. Well, second only to glass, with an obligatory glare in the direction of Apple.
I didn't treat my iPhone 2G any worse than the phones I've had since (Desire, Atrix and One X) which are all still immaculate. However, it looks like it's been dragged through a warzone or four. Covered in scratches, scrapes and dents. This only mirrors my experience of owning aluminium laptops (again, Apple, but does anybody else do it better?)

Camera protection?

Hi everyone, is there any camera protection available on the internet or someting? My One X is quite damaged because I use a cheap case and it scratches the sides of my phone But when I don't use it anymore my camera will touch all surfaces, so I was curious if there is something to fix that
Thanks so far
Probably not...?

I cut a piece from a generic screen protector and put it on the camera lens, didn't effect quality at all.
I'll let you know how the Best Skins Ever is in a few days when it arrives
That would be great if you do!
I my self is a bit forced to have my phone in a punch, hate scratches and already have one on the lens My screen protector is noisy like noise on a picture, thats why I am a bit skeptical to have a screen protector on the lens.

Just an FYI for those worried about your camera lenses; scratches will not show in pictures or effect picture quality unless they are severe. Micro scratches or even regular scratches are imperceivable unless the camera is using a very narrow aperture. Given that the One X has an F2.0 lens, that just isn't an issue.
Conversely, putting ANYTHING infront of the camera lens is going to have an effect on IQ.

That's what I did (you can also use a hole puncher) and I don't have any quality issues, as a matter of fact I have no scratches on it and had it for a while now.

My case sticks out just a bit further than the camera, so it's when i set the phone down on hard surfaces. This seems like the best protection to me if you worry about image degradation due to a layer of plastic on top of the lens.
I've been thinking about this for some time. I tried to try a bit of generic sbreen cover but it bubbled up. I love the idea of a hole punch though will try that tonight
maybe buy an otterbox defender it protects everything not only the camera
i just love it
you can even throw your phone if u want to or open beer bottles with it no problem
greets
I just removed the glass bit when I soldered the wifi connection. I've found this to be a great solution because it also helps to cool the chip that gets hot during gaming. I've had no problems in three months now.
I've been using the official htc case and haven't had any problems. The plastic on the back protrudes a bit further than the lens so it provides plenty of protection against table surfaces etc
That said, even if you do manage to severely damage the lens, it looks like a pretty simple matter to simply swap out the lens and put a new one in. Plenty of places to buy spare parts, and the lenses aren't particularly expensive. Though it would probably be safer to change the entire housing as I don't know how well the adhesive on the inside of the case would work after being removed and replaced.

Scratches on camera lens?

Hey guys I got desire 820 5 days ago, I am using it without any case, today I noticed the camera lens has 3-4 scratches. A possibility is that these scratches are on the anti reflective coating. I couldn't find any info if desire 820 has such coating on camera lens. Any of you having similar issue? I don't think the scratches are affecting picture quality much, and if I remove the coating (if any), it will just bring in a lot of glare in daylight shots. What's your opinion? Should I go to service center and get that anti reflective coating removed?
Use colgate

Take a soft cloth, apply a minute amount of colgate paste on the cloth and rub the camera glass with moderate pressure.Be careful not to break the glass . I have tested this on my Xperia M and it worked.

Mine shipped with a scratch in the AR coating on it! It may be good glass (I dunno) but it looks like the AR coating is very weak. Small recessed glass's don't have to worry about having a durable AR coatings but the huge one on the Z's looks like it going to be an issue for all of them.
Sent it back and already got another one. Spent a few min last night trying to cut down an old screen protector to fit but due to the flash being in the same circle - it causes major blow out when it lights so it needs to be much smaller and the edge needs to be blacked out.

You can protect the camera lens with some "cool" skins, like:
https://dbrand.com/shop/moto-z-skins
or
https://www.slickwraps.com/devices/phones/android/moto-z.html
mine has some lines too, I will get some pulish and after that a skin will help for good
hope it helps
Same here with Moto Z but this is a problem with all Moto devices all moto phones of this year scratch incredibly easy, ALL PHONES, from G4 Play up to Moto Z Force, I don't want to imagine how they will look the lens cameras in a couple of months later... terrible Motorola/Lenovo...
So far the only scratch I have is a small scratch on the top aluminum edge. No scratches on any of the glass. My dbrand skin should be coming some time this week. Black carbon back and white carbon camera.
can the camera glass be replaced?
Mine has some scratches and now that I saw that I'm not alone I knoe that is not my fault. It doesn't hurt the Picture quality but is really annoying
I set my Moto z play on the table and glass cracked can I get it replaced?
Protect from further scratches:
