[Q] Can the AT&T SGH-i257 VoLTE(HD Voice) be rooted? - Galaxy S 4 Mini Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Can the *NEW* AT&T SGH-i257 VoLTE(HD Voice) released on 5/23/2014 be rooted?
I have seen root methods for other SGH-i257 variants, but not certain that will fly on this recent iteration.

Yeah no one has replied on the SGH-i257(M) root thread above link, just don't want a brick My device comes in tomorrow so hopefully someone will confirm that that method should work.

I received mine a few days ago. It is a great device for it being a little aged spec wise. It has been a while since I have messed with a Samsung device. Reading up this knox thing seems to be a huge pain in the rear.

Yeah I played with the demo at the store I liked it alot and ordered a new one on eBay because of the size, and spec wise it is pretty decent due to the size and it supports microSD I am very happy. Yeah I miss the good ole days with Sammy when boot loaders were unlocked, but AT&T and other carriers forcing their hand

If I had a few more tools and was more up to date I would do it. Unfortunately I have always relied strongly on the skills of the members here. I know someone will be through here in a bit after the phone has a little more exposure. It looks like we probably do need a few files that are more specific to this device. 1 thing I already noticed is that some variants of this device do not have a notification light.

Seems there are ways to root the SGH-i257M but it sure would be nice to have a definite and tested root for the SGH-i257

Jelly Bean (yakjuux JRO03C) + new UGLH1 radio for Canadian devices

Hi,
I live in Canada and have my GN with Bell. I've been stuck on 4.0.1 since I got the phone; no updates were ever available.
Recently, I had to get my phone repaired and gave it in to the Samsung place here and when I got it back, it was updated to 4.1.1 (I attached a pic of the info)
I just wanted to ask you guys if all the info there looks good/correct. Also, not really sure how the tech managed to update it since nothing was ever available...
On another note, I was wondering if any of you could direct me to rooting methods (preferably on mac) / ways to change to yakju (also preferably on mac) on the version of the phone I have now... I searched and saw a bunch of different methods and whatnot, but I'm terrified to choose a potentially "wrong" one.
Thanks!
they must have updated it using Odin. is the IMEI the same or a different phone
I don't think I've ever seen that baseband before. I wonder if Samsung is actually close to releasing something for the Candian yakjuxx variant.

Before you change to yakju, would you mind dumping your radio, bootloader and ROM please? You have a new radio, so I'm sure lots of folks would like to try it out. And I'm sure lots of Canadians would like to try out your ROM as well.
I can post instructions later tonight.

Won't make any changes until I get you guys what you need. No worries.
Was just asking if I should never switch to yakju. Also, I wouldn't be able to anyway since the second part of my post was essentially asking how to even go about the process anyway, lol.

Leaked official touchwiz 4.2.2 rom with download (Int'l S3 Version)

This morning I just read there was a leaked 4.2.2 touch wiz rom that leaked. There were no threads, so I started one. So far just a couple features are missing because of hardware limitations. Feel free to discuss and share more information on the subject

P600 WiFi Only Update Notification

Currently rooted, running stock 4.4.2. Got a notification of an update....not sure what it would is - 4.4.4 maybe? Not sure if I should update (don't want to lose root). Anyone know what the update is and if updating with cost me root?
Thanks
Same situation
I too would like to know this. Thanks in advance!
You probably already know this, but it's just a ChromeCast fix (and maybe some other minor stuff) for 4.4.2. Some people have reported horrible battery life after taking/flashing this update, so since I don't use ChromeCast (and I'm rooted), I haven't flashed it.
