Jelly Bean (yakjuux JRO03C) + new UGLH1 radio for Canadian devices - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hi,
I live in Canada and have my GN with Bell. I've been stuck on 4.0.1 since I got the phone; no updates were ever available.
Recently, I had to get my phone repaired and gave it in to the Samsung place here and when I got it back, it was updated to 4.1.1 (I attached a pic of the info)
I just wanted to ask you guys if all the info there looks good/correct. Also, not really sure how the tech managed to update it since nothing was ever available...
On another note, I was wondering if any of you could direct me to rooting methods (preferably on mac) / ways to change to yakju (also preferably on mac) on the version of the phone I have now... I searched and saw a bunch of different methods and whatnot, but I'm terrified to choose a potentially "wrong" one.
Thanks!

they must have updated it using Odin. is the IMEI the same or a different phone

I don't think I've ever seen that baseband before. I wonder if Samsung is actually close to releasing something for the Candian yakjuxx variant.

Same IMEI. It was just a USB replacement.

Before you change to yakju, would you mind dumping your radio, bootloader and ROM please? You have a new radio, so I'm sure lots of folks would like to try it out. And I'm sure lots of Canadians would like to try out your ROM as well.
I can post instructions later tonight.

Was just asking if I should never switch to yakju. Also, I wouldn't be able to anyway since the second part of my post was essentially asking how to even go about the process anyway, lol.

[REQ] Sprint Galaxy Nexus Forum

I am trying to get a forum organized for us recently members of Sprints version Galaxy NEXUS. I will try and have as many people to post in this thread to show the love and support for our new found device. Well I'm Kevin and I hope we can get this to happen thank you

Good Idea, I agree we should have a separate Sprint CDMA Galaxy Nexus Android Development Forum
I agree that we need our own separate forum. It was a mess on the ns4g until you split it for us, please start us with our own. Devs will appreciate it as well for having separate threads for reporting bugs and giving kudos...
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus
+1 avoid confusion since verizon cdma doesn't work for us anyways. Less broken devices for everyone and less headaches for devs
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
I'll add my voice (for what it's worth) to this. It already looks difficult enough to find what you're looking for with only VZW roms in the forum - I can't (or don't want to) imagine how cluttered it would be if you were trying to find Sprint vs. VZW in the same forum.
+1 This is a good idea to split the two cdma variants for a number of reasons.
CWM - Versus TWRP
I posted t his question in the other "Sprint Nexus" thread and didn't get a response yet - I was hoping someone here could offer advice -
What are the advantages - if any - for using TWRP versus CWM? I have CWM Touch installed and it works well - but I have seen several referrences to TWRP (I think that is the spelling) and wondered if it was better than CWM ? More stble or more appropriate for our Nexus?
Anyone have any thoughts?
While I am at it - here is a question that will certainly give me "NOOB" status - when rooting my Nexus, I had to learn how to use ADB to push files and flash files on my phone - it was a first for me - having come from the EPIC 4 G - is using ADB to push or flash things to the phone really only necessary when first rooting the Nexus? Or will there other instances where I have to do it? (like Modum changes possibly?
Thoughts?
yeah plus one its been awhile but I might throw my in development (last time I was doing roms WM6.5 was the **** lol) Maybe I'll take android seriously this time
Does the Sprint GNexus come with an actual LTE SIM or an embedded one like I've been reading about?

[Q] Triple Checking that i am looking in the right directions

So i am finally pulling the trigger and getting the nexus. I am not new to XDA flashing ROMs or even development in general but i have learned the hard way it is better to be safe than sorry. Anyway I live in San Francisco and will be buying the GSM version from the google play store so i will just fire off my questions.
1. so this would be where i go to unlock root and flash a custom recovery http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1392310 and on the list my phone would be option 7 correct ???????
2. are there any steps that i should be careful on or just take extra care???
3. Any useful tips in general i will be testing other ROMs and Kernels but will probably end up using AOKP and Franco kernel since i know him from a previous phone.
Thank you in advance and anything you think of that i didn't

+1 billion.
At least when you do it manually you will know what went wrong and at what step and if you need to ask for help it will be a lot easier for you to get it of you have that information.
And as a bonus you get to learn!
Learning is fun!
There's nothing wrong with the program. It works flawlessly but I know most people on here like to do it the manual way.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA
The script is a horrible way to do things. It's slower than using advice and fastboot directly, unless you are a beginner in which case it still sucks because it's much better to actually take the time to learn how stuff works.... makes it easier to fix things later on.

One Toolkit argument:
If you "break" your phone in a week/month/year/whatever...
And come back requesting help...
We're MORE than glad to help.
However, you'll find the process of diagnosis and repair to go much more smoothly when you have ADB/Fastboot set up.
Which is really 99% of the work in unlocking/rooting manually.
If you have a bricked device you're
a ) in a panic
b ) not going to be able to tell if the actual ADB/Fastboot set up isn't working...
Or if your device is broken to the point where it won't be recognized even on a working set up.
KNOWING you have ADB/Fastboot set up correctly is, again, %99 percent of fixing your phone.
If you come in and say "adb devices" doesn't show anything it could be TWO possible reasons, rather than one.
Oh...
And learning ftw.
And the fact that adb pushing items to our MTP phones is sometimes easier than using drag-n-drop.
And...you might at one point need this ability to unbrick =].
Thanks for the help guys any baseband you would recommend I'm in San Francisco just want the best coverage

"If I learned one thing on XDA, it's this. Most people like to post in the wrong sections, because they know that they will get a faster answer and that more people will see it. They do it, despite the fact that they shouldn't. So, in theory, we should just ignore those that do it, because lets be honest...they know better and so should we. Now, I've also seen many members that know better, reply to these people and give them their answers, but they fail to see that, they are only feeding these people, to keep on doing it."

Category is "Mobile Phones" and search for "LS970"
Oddly there are two different versions. Even more oddly, searching for "970" (the generic number for the Optimus G) the Sprint version is the only one available, even though the International and AT&T versions have already been released.
I don't suppose this will help much in getting the bootloader unlocked but good to have at least. Will be useful if we do. No one is worse than HTC about releasing source.

Most devices don't get the resources that sextape gave us, so they rely on guesswork primarily. We are very lucky to have thecubed also who is doing all of the actual unlocking and has experience with lg devices and bootloaders.

I'm assuming that if one gets unlocked, then the process for unlocking the other variants will be fairly the same if not the exact same. So if one gets unlocked, then they should all be able to be unlocked, assuming that all of the variants are locked down the same. Someone please correct me if I'm mistaken.
Awesome. I really wanted a Nexus 4 but I guess I'll settle for it's step brother.

I don't think it's a problem. I have a Nexus 7 with a sealed battery and I've never had to worry about it. Any times that it completely locked up (including while in fastboot), I can hard reset it by holding all the buttons down for a while.

If I had a few more tools and was more up to date I would do it. Unfortunately I have always relied strongly on the skills of the members here. I know someone will be through here in a bit after the phone has a little more exposure. It looks like we probably do need a few files that are more specific to this device. 1 thing I already noticed is that some variants of this device do not have a notification light.
