[Q] Locked out the phone but there is no "Forgot password?" button - HTC One X

Hi,
kids were playing with my phone and they locked out my phone with password protection (I hope they have not done anything else).
After few wrong attempts I don't have that "Forgot password?" button which should be there.
I have my phone rooted (Android Revolution HD 33.1) and usb debugger enabled.
What can I do if I don't want to do factory reset?
Thank you very much

Solved my problem
So finally after I spent 4 hours trying to fix this problem. I called HTC tech support and spent few minutes listening to some woman about data connection and that there should be this button and I had to have a working internet connection (which I had). So I was browsing functions of CWM and figured out I can do it like that:
Backup phone in CWM
Do factory reset in CWM
Connect phone to PC and copy AROMA FILE MANAGER to sdcard from PC
Restore backup in CWM
Flash AROMA FILE MANAGER in CWM
In Aroma file manager settings allow automatic mounting of filesystems in CWM
Delete file /data/system/password.key in Aroma File Manager
Reboot
Working like a charm now.

LG Setup Wizard

I am looking for help. I am a noob and I rooted my phone and it all went well. I froze apps that others had frozen. I tried to be very cautious but I froze LGSetupWizard with titanium backup and then did a hard reset. My phone now starts up with the setup wizard and when it gets to the end it states that the application (process com.android.LGSetupWizard) stopped unexpectedly then it loops back to the beggining. I have actually been able to access my email and the net from the notification dropdown. I am lost as what to do. Is my phone bricked? Is it possible to simply put the application back into the phone somehow? I have access to the files that I froze through titanium back up on my computer as they were on the sd card. I would really appreciate any help
Can't you just skip out of the wizard before it gets to the end? Or choose to not go through it at all?
Try the factory reset and see if that helps... Just guessing though ?
How
The start-up wizard started automatically after the reset. I have tried to get out of it but when I "exit" it brings up the same error message. I read a post on another phone where you could opt out of it by pushing a few buttons in a certain sequence but it did not work. How would I do a factory reset as is? Any ideas? Thank You!!
Can you get debug mode running (possibly by connecting to your computer, selecting the computer usb connection, and then long holding the line in notification center or something)? If so, you might be able to push the backed up .apk with adb and get it reinstalled.
Explanation
I really apprecitate your post. I am sorry I am a noob and I am not sure what you mean by "long holding the line in notification center". I will download ADB and research how to use it. Thank You!!
If you can make adb working, then you can use 'adb uninstall' the TB, or use 'adb shell' login to phone, su, then delete TB app or data
TB?
Thank you for your post, what is TB?
I must be a real idiot. I found out after the fact that if you select any other option than PC software on the USB connection mode it disables debugging mode. I have ADB but it is not recognizing the phone because it is not in debugging mode. Is there any other way to activate debugging mode besides Settings -> Applications -> Development -> USB debugging?
Please Help!
TB means TitaniumBackup.
Another way to enter adb:
If you have cwm recovery installed, pls continue see following steps:
1. Enter CWM Recovery mode.
2. Then connect your phone to computer
3. enter "adb devices"
D:\android-sdk-windows\platform-tools>adb devices
List of devices attached
LGOxxxxxxxxx recovery
If you see above, then good, enter "adb shell" to login to your phone.
enter "id" to make sure you are root.
then:
cd /data/app
ls -l *Titanium*
#you should see something like com.keramidas.TitaniumBackup.apk
#then enter:
mv com.keramidas.TitaniumBackup*.apk TitaniumBackup.abc
Above cmd will make the app executable file invalid extension, which should disable the TB app. (I didn't try, but I guess it should disable the app)
HTH,
xordos
CWM Recovery
I don't have CWM recovery, I tried to research it and I could not find the LG nitro in the list for clockwork mod, should I use one of the optimus models? I rooted with superoneclick. If I froze the file in TB would uninstalling TB unfreeze it? I have actuall been able to use mail, messaging, and the phone when someone else calls or emails me and I have been able to access settings for each of these specific areas but I have not been able to access settings for the debugging.
Thank You!!
USB debugging on how do I push the files?
I have ADB running and I am in debugging mode. I still have root. How and where would I push the file onto the device.
Thank you!!
Resolved
My issue has been resolved. Thanks for the help!
problem fixed
hello .
If you still have the problem with the lg phone , there is a very easyyyyyy solution .
I had the same problem ; i deleted Lg home because i was using go launcher home , then one day i just moved go launcher on the sd card . That was the problem , i hard reset my phone 20 time , but still in the end of the reset process i was receving that error , the process stoped .
Ok , once you have reached the error " setup wizard process stop " , press the close button . Than press the 3d menu button . You will go into 3d menu , there click 3d games and accesories . Launch the game asphat 3d. The game will be installed . After you launch the game , there is a small button in the game , in the top left corner , similar with an earth , named info . Click that button , than click the twiter button . Now you will launch the internet browser and you problem it's fixed. Once the internet it's opened , go to google com , and search for any launcher . By example seach go launcher , find it , download it , install it . When you want to install it a windows asking about some security settings will open . It;s the settings menu of the phone . Here you can can allow to install application that dosen't come from play store , or you can just enable usb debuging ( and of course with usb debuggin enabled ,you can easly update or downgrade your phone using the lg official software ) .
Good luck .
hey man, how did you fix this problem? i have the same deal right now. thanks
gave up. flashed kdz

[Q] nothing internet related will work b/c I deleted this app

epic touch flashed to page plus everything worked for about 6 wks then I downloaded Identity Safe Password Manager its uses its own browser and I didn't like using it so I stupidly deleted it. Now when I use the internet it goes to the sprint site "deviceselfservice.sprint.com:8000/" says "web page not available". I went back to the place that flashed it to page plus they reflashed it , thne i tried re installing then uninstall the Identity Safe Password Manager this internet still doesn't work. calls, mms, and wifi still work. Anyone have any ideas ?
Sound like the application modified your hosts file and/or proxy settings. Is this the Norton thingy? I'm not familiar with it. And it sounds like you may not be sure what you did or what happened.
A simple solution; use one of sfhub's one-clicks (full reset) to completely set up your phone as stock. You can back up your stuff as follows:
Install AppBak from Market, run it and save a list of all your apps.
Install SMS Backup and Restore from Market, run it and backup your SMS history. Install Call Logs Backup and Restore from Market, run it and backup your call log history.
Then flash sfhub's full reset Odin one-click package. Reload your apps and data and it should be good to go.
If that doesnt work, get your MSL and do ##72786# (assuming stock dialer) and enter MSL. Select "OK" on "Reset?"
This is a DSA reset. Your device will reboot and provision itself.
If thats still a no go, make a backup of anything you dont want lost and do a real reset: ##786# enter MSL and select reset.
This will even erase "USB Storage" ... Have a backup...
Edit: Do you know your MSID?
If in about phone/status it doesn't show your MSID correctly you can they this first.
##>yourMSL<#
Choose "edit"
Touch here
Enter correct MSID.

[Q] Forgot Pattern Lock

Hi there,
I owned a Galaxy Nexus running Jelly Bean 4.2.1 version, yakjuxw (Not rooted), GSM. I activated the Pattern Lock to prevent the kids at my relatives house messing my phone. Unfortunately, I forgot the pattern and the phone stays locked out. I have tried the pattern combinations for days but failed.
I have tried to key in my Gmail account username/password but since my phone is wifi/data switched off, I cant sign in. Moreover, I am not sure whether the USB Debugging is enabled.
I have tried some 'hole' methods recommended at some forums, but it didnt work on my phone.I hope to get access to my messages/images/some files and transfer them to my pc before reset the phone to factory setting. Please help! :-|

You can reset the phone to Factory settings.
1. Turn off your phone.
2. Press vol up+vol down+power buttons till it vibrates. Now you see a dead android.
3. Navigate with your volume buttons to "Recovery Mode" and select it with the power button.
4. When its booted you should see a soort of menu.
5. Select "wipe data" (or something like that). THIS WIPES YOUR DATA AND YOUR INTERNAL STORAGE (music, pictures etc..)
6. Select reboot system now.
7. Done.

Thank you for the reply. But, I wish to get access to my files in order to transfer them to a save location before reset the phone to Factory settings. Is there a way to hack into the device without wiping out the data?
Try this out.

Call yourself from another phone and answer, after that your phone will probably get unlocked.
In ADB or some other way to access the file system in Recovery Mode
navigate to /data/system and
delete password.key and/or gesture.key
- reboot.
Password/Gesture Lock gone.
You can use AROMA File Manager in Recovery (would have to sideload it if you didn't pre-install it)

Good luck. Post back with your solution.

Thank you for the link. I am downloading the Cygwin on my Windows Vista machine. Slow broadband speed has actually delayed my work.

Hi, I have searched about sideload. I have never rooted my phone before and having difficulties in understanding the android features. Can you provide me a walk-through on how can I install the recovery on my locked out phone and access my files please.
FYI, I tried the adb method listed above, but the terminal returns <error no device found>. I tried the method on Mint (linux) live session.
I managed to get access to my data. Messages are the only thing I am losing out. Thank you XDA guys.

LG G4 half-bricked / full unusable

Hi everybody !
I usually (always normally) succeed myself at resolve my phone problems, but this time I can't do anything.
My problem :
I have a LG G4 ; I saw an update of Imperium Rom (v8) this morning, so I installed it, everything worked well until I decided to install a, apparently, ****ed mod on xposed ; and since I have rebooted I can't do anything ; the LG logo shows and just after "UI system as stopped", just one time but, then I can't do anything, screens over screens, can't access parameters, password required, "flex mode" (never saw this before), re-password, system UI restart, loading background, restart system UI; and this in a infinite loop SOOOOO
I decided to reset it, yeah... But I can't access my recovery, wow o/
I followed the step to access it by switch it off and press volume down etc --> It just boot normally, or best in safe mode by magic but same problem ; via parameters but I can't access parameters ; and via ADB buuut my phone isn't recognized even with the complete sdk, drivers, everything you want, there's nothing to do because --> while restarting system UI it deconnects so of course it can be recognized
I removed xposed (while I could still access recovery, as I was thinking it was coming from the xposed module) and so now I can't even access recovery via shutdown menu (as I had put "reboot to recovery" in via Xblast, a xposed module) ; and of course it doesn't change anything
I neeeeed your help so much, I don't mind losing what's on it :crying:

Please ensure you REALLY use the correct key combo! Just saying bla does not tell us what exactly you tried.
If you really can't get in you can try to Boot into download mode
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=0cbLhpWq5C8
Then use lgup to reinstall stock ROM and do all the stuff again to get twrp, root and a custom ROM.

Thank for your answer ! No it couldn't even boot in download mode
I resolved my problem by forcing again the buttons to reset completely, it finally showed me after about 30 boots or more the reset screen, I said "ok" ; and in fact it just rebooted saying "updating Android", I did not lost anything.
I still don't understand how it happened but anyway !
I don't know if it's possible to set the topic as resolved ? I don't find it

Backup non-rooted LG G4 stuck in "UI stopped working" loop

Hello everyone,
Yesterday, after I tried to charge my LG G4, it stopped booting properly: it seems to boot "normally" under the hood, except that the system UI is not properly loading so instead I get a black screen and a message "Unfortunately system UI stopped working". If I click "ok", it comes back within two seconds (the screen stays black apart from the error message). I cannot do anything, like unlock the phone or access anything on it, despite the fact that I can hear notifications coming in.
Unfortunately phone is not rooted, developper mode isn't enabled, and I don't have a custom recovery. I would do a factory reset if it weren't for my Google Authenticator codes, some of which I haven't properly backed up like an idiot. Thus I was wondering what I could do to back up my phone or solve the issue.
Here is what I've already tried:
Press down VOLUME DOWN + POWER to enter recovery mode, but since I don't have custom recovery this only gives me the option to do a hard factory reset and lose all my data.
Use adb commands to access my phone, but I get "unauthorized device" because I haven't enabled developper tools on the phone.
Use the app "LG Bridge" on my mac, but it also doesn't work for the above reason.
I see three possibilities, but I don't know whether any is genuinely doable:
Solve the issue of the error message, which from what I've read requires me to wipe the cache. But how to do that without custom recovery?
Somehow bypass the UI to unlock the phone and unable developer tools
Manage to backup the phone from my computer while its locked without developper tools enabled.
Note that obviously this is my phone, I know my passwords, I have access to my Google account, etc.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, without my Google Authenticator data I'll be locked out of an important email account.

Well at least you can backup your phone in download mode with SALT ( https://bit.do/SALTatXDA ) but restoring is another story.
Sent from my LG-H815 using XDA Labs
Thanks a lot for your reply! I'll try backing up with SALT tonight. There are two things I'm wondering:
How do you think I could extra data from the backup?
Will I be able to wipe the cache or enable usb debugging with SALT? That might solve the issue.

You can mount the userdata partition on Linux (e.g in FWUL) and then browse through it like it's on your phone.
You can wipe the cache paetition in SALT yes. It's in the advanced menu there (erase partitions -> select cache and only that). It will not wipe the dalvik cache though.
I dunno about the USB debugging though. Maybe there is a way but if so you would need a very unrestricted download mode (depends on model and firmware). And the whole process is not easy.
It requires again SALT and there you have in the advanced menu the option to open a shell.
Here you can mount userdata with
mount /data
But it's usually mounted already. Then it's a try and error. You could e. G. try to delete the dalvik cache etc.

Hi!
I've found out that the Google Auth keys are in /data/data/com.google.android.apps.authenticator2/databases/databases. So I need to backup /data/. However, when I show the list of partitions with SALT, I don't see /data/. Is there a way to backup /data/ on my unrooted device?
Secondly, I haven't managed to wipe the dalvik cache with the command shell, would you be able to point me in the right direction?
Thank you so much!
