xda VERY slow loading - About xda-developers.com

I've noticed xda takes a long time to open and change pages in my browser (Chrome). It frequently times out and gives me an error message. Sometimes I can push it to finish opening by pressing F5 (reload). Other times I have to close it and open again. This happens FREQUENTLY. I have also noticed several video ads that run automatically in multiple windows. I can pause one of them at a time by clicking on it, but of course, this doesn't help with the slow loading problem.
Is there any way to opt out of these videos (one seems to show women in sportswear making sushi) or just shut them off? I suspect that this is the problem.

Its been happening to me too, I just came to this thread to report this. I have an adblock so not sure about the ad but Its talking way longer time to load and sometimes i get error that unable to reach website.
I am using safari on mac.
Thanks

Mate, consider the fact XDA is currently frequented from thousands and thousands people. This could mean - in some cases - their servers could be sometimes overloaded, producing the annoyances you experienced.

This was caused by a bad DNS server - it is all fixed up now so your speed should be fine. Closing this thread, for any issues in the future please visit the XDA issues thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1987254

Fourm really laggy on my desktop, Takes 90 seconds to load every page.

So I try browsing the forums and learing about my Epic 4g. But every fourm page takes 90 seconds before I can scroll and look around. It's not my computer or internet because I am a member on 10 other various forums and I have never had a single problem like this.
It looks like the adds are causing the problem. The page loads, but it still said waiting on add.....? at the lower left bar on the browser. And every time it throwser IEX into not responding. Then it finally after 90 seconds starts and I can scroll just fine.
And Ideas on what I can do to resolve this? It's really a pain waiting that lng for the page to load.
if your on Chrome try using an ad blocking extension

Vibrating pop ups in chrome browser on Pixel XL

So I have had my Pixel XL for just over a week now and for the last few days I have been getting annoying pop ups appear in chrome when browsing sites such as xda, phonearena and techradar.
When the pop up appears in chrome the phone vibrates and it will not let me close the tab. Usually the pop up will claim that I have won the lottery or a free iphone etc.
I have tried, deleting all history, cache, cookies etc from chrome since the beginning of time and I have done the same on my laptop to prevent it syncing back across. I have also tried resetting all network settings but the issue persists.
I get the same issue both on WIFI and on 3/4G.
Has anyone had the same issue? if so how did you fix it? I thought the Pixel was supposed to be a secure phone, i feel like its already riddled with malware!
Thanks in advance!
* I will grab a screen shot of the next pop up and upload it to this thread. *
Update 5th Nov: added Screenshot.
This happens to me from time to time. My best guess is that it's just malicious ads on the sites, and not actually malware on the phone or anything to worry about. Closing the tab has always ended it for me. What happens when you try to close it but can't?

I find it strange that sites like xda and techradar have malicious ads though? also this has only surfaced in the last couple of days? before this is had no issues...
My concern lies mainly in the fact that you can't close the tab. What happens exactly when you try to do that?
when the pop up if present on the screen you cannot press the tab button (top right) to close the tab. The way I get around it is pressing the switch app software button at the bottom and then selecting google chrome. I then get a split second to quickly press the tab button top right on chrome or the ad wont let me press it again. The pop up ad causes the ad to vibrate violently when chrome is open. Its winding me up.

I expect that it's a dialog box preventing you from pressing the tab button. Is this the case? If so, did you try checking "Prevent this page from creating additional dialogs", then dismissing it?
Thanks for your help, I. Was trying to find a way of preventing the pop ups in the first place if anyone has any ideas? Could it be a rogue app on my device, I've only installed a handful of 3rd party apps and most are from large companies, BBC, premier league etc.

Not a rogue app, my freshly restored Pixel does it. I installed an adblocker.

I installed AdAway, I did root my device.
Adguard works really well if you don't want to root.

Thank you, I will give this a go.
So I remember having this issue a few months back. I'm looking for the Google problem that was logged but from what I remember the issue is not device specific but actually based off of your unique google ad profile. These malicious ads are going after those ID's and then that's how you get vibrate ads on reputable sites. I stopped using personalized ads and that fixed the issue for me a few months ago. I will try to find the link to add. It is an issue Google is aware of.
Ad support is fine and XDA has the right to have ads.
Where I draw the line is the Ad described by the OP, I would complain to XDA.
With XDA I support the site by subscribing
I had the same thing happen to me. I determined it was a bad or unofficial .apk for ShowBox. Once I deleted it, the vibrating pop-ups stopped. I ultimately found the proper .apk, installed it and haven't had the issue again.
So I've installed Adguard and I'm a little concerned that my traffic is being routed through their vpn. I don't really trust that.
Also I've added a Screenshot of one of these annoying pop ups that vibrate my phone. FYI I didn't have Adguard running at the time.
I've also gotten these a few times. If I remember correctly I also noticed it on my Note 7.
Vibrating ads have nothing to do with malicious apps, webpages have permission to vibrate natively
Narrow down the problem... process of elimination.
Exactly what sites/pages/tabs do you have open when this is happening? Either your phone has been jacked and needs to be wiped (or maybe Chrome removed/reset) or you are visiting the same page(s)/websites that have been jacked. Believe it or not, this happens to some very reputable sites due to poor security on the part of themselves or an advertising vendor purchasing and displaying ads on the site.

app freezing issue ?

hey this is my first post in this forum hope I'm in the correct area-
Im having an issue with two apps in particular that freeze the app/sometimes phone. First facebook - when typing a message when it pulls up a tag to suggest a person's name to tag it freezes the app and i must back out of the message. Second - just surfing in instagram it will freeze lockup the whole app. I've tried cache cleaning. I've really enjoyed this phone so far, the frequency that I use these two apps though its becoming more frustrating. anyone else encountered this.

Yeah, I have seen this as well with Instagram. Randomly happens. Locks up and have to force quit the app. Latest updates have not helped either. I have also noticed when using immersive mode, and doing an instagram story, you cannot add text. Not that has anything to do with your issues, but just a heads up.

Random web page freezes (Samsung Keyboard, Spell Checking and Google Chrome)

Have you noticed random web page freezes (around 10 seconds), when writing posts using Google Chrome with Samsung Keyboard, Spell Checking on? Not browser, just the web page.
I even noticed a couple of freezes when browsing through online stores, and I think it's related to a keyboard, because I brought it up when changing product quantity numbers.
Spell checking also appears to be broken. When word is underlined indicating there's spelling error, clicking word only shows empty box, this leads me to believe it's related to freezes.
If you experienced it, have you figured out a way to fix this?
When writing long posts, these occasional freezes can wreak chaos, because while page is frozen, any additional words you type and accidental edits you make, appear after page unfreezes. It also wastes time, because if you're editing something in the middle of the text, you can't continue writing, and have to wait for unfreeze.
Off-topic question:
When writing a long post, accidentally hitting back or home button can be upsetting - the post is gone. Can you make browser remember these posts, so you can return and continue writing? So far my solution is to select all and copy, which is tedious.
Thanks.
Update
I noticed Chrome freezes randomly even without opening Samsung keyboard, simply browsing the web and page freezes. I also thought it's not the browser but the web page, but opening tab switcher while the page is frozen and opening a new tab sometimes (when the page freezes randomly while browsing the web), freezes entire browser, after around 10 seconds browser unfreezes. Any fix suggestions or what can be causing this? Tried wiping cache, but didn't help, I don't think reinstall will help, but I'll try it after some backing up.
Try this test, browse, XDA for example, through Chrome on your S20 devices for a weak, no PC or other devices or apps, write posts, etc, and report your results here. I also don't have any ad-blocking/ad-free, so to reproduce this enable ads as well.
Also, try using it with Samsung keyboard to maybe make problem more reproducible. Enable spell checking in keyboard settings, so words become underlined. Also enable dark mode.
I'm worried maybe it's RAM? Or SSD?
Hope not.. * sigh *
Edit
Searched the web more thoroughly this time, and apparently this is a big issue. Google search: s20 chrome freezing.
Some think it's related to 120 Hz mode, but then report it's freezing on 60 Hz as well, so seems like not refresh rate related. People even report this freezing occurs on Android system WebView powered apps.
No fix yet.

Question Slowing Video Response

Excuse me for this being quite long. I am monitoring a rifle scope video through WiFi to my S22. When I first load the app for the scope, movement in the scope appears after about one second on my phone. However, if I wait for several minutes after starting the app, movement in the scope doesn't appear on the phone for 3 to 8 seconds. If I exit the app and then reload it, I get the exact same result - quick response at first and then after a few minutes, delayed response.
I get the exact same results on a Samsung tablet. Bear with me now. If I have the app running for a while on my S22 and it is in the slow response stage and I start the app on my tablet, response on the table is initially quick but after a few minutes slows down. With the s22 and table sitting side beside, the delays will not be the same on both devices. ie. the phone image might be delayed by 3 seconds and the tablet by 5 seconds or vice versa. Also, the delay times are not constant from one scope movement to the next and they are not in sync on the phone/tablet.
Fortunately or unfortunately, this issue DOES NOT occur on an Iphone - the delay always stays about 1 second. I have tried deleting apps, resetting my phone, etc. to no avail.
If anyone can help resolve this issue, I will be so very grateful.
