I haven't done much looking into it, usually it's easier to wait for an updated rom. I do have this issue as well, just hasn't bothered me enough while I am still learning the device, just got one 2 days ago; Sweet device.

Did you try removing the T-Mobile sim? Someone in another thread said that there isn't a Verizon 4.4.2 update yet.

Have you been able to get the update on the vk810 4.4.2? I keep trying and I get a fail message as well. If you were able to update was there a trick? Looking online was no help

Update gpad 4.4.2 running on tmobile sim Verizon build
Just updated my gpad 8.3 to 4.4.2. I had switched from Verizon to T-mobile before update was running fine. Now it's no longer recognizing sim card. Updated apn to tmobile, but unable to get it to recognize tmobile sim. Any clues? ? Would advice on not updating to 4.4.2 if u r running on Verizon build but your no longer a Verizon customer

I have two of these tablets the Verizon one vk810 and the v500 and the V500 runs like butter on the 4.4.2 update besides the sd card issue i use these tablets in my truck as a radio they are custom fitted to my dash and it get really frustrating with the Verizon one
lol

I can't see where the OTA file is, so that I can flash it with LG Flash Tools. I'm also kind of worried because some people have been having problems. It's not nearly as easy as flashing a Samsung phone, for sure.
Does anyone know if ATT would let me borrow a sim to try to update it? I only have a T-Mobile sim card....:/

Porting would be a ton of work and likely lots of bugs. By the time it's usable official 4.4.2 would likely be out.
March 3, that's the date someone on Sprint Community forums posted. But don't know myself for sure. Last time they said that it actually happened so it maybe real.

Hopefully that's true, because it gives time for devs to find a root/boot unlock method by the time it drops. That way can just OTA and be good to go...hopefully.

Sorry to say you should have gotten the Verizon one if you wanted gsm compatability in US as well, I hear there are problems using the LS980 on other US carriers. Besides Verizon version also has wireless charging, only downside is small buttons and that hideous Verizon emblem lol.
No i prefer this one. Im using it on tmo and the problems are no big deal. I got it for 140 and i can still use it with sprint if i want...

Whenever Sprint gets it... it will be at least 4.2 years before I do bc I have verizon and verizon won't release kitkat until google agrees to change the name from KitKat to Android AT&T, T-Mobile and Sprint Can Suck It. And my update has to make my device apply no less than 47 more verizon logos to itself.

[Q] Any rooting methods for G pad 10.1/8/7?

Hey, i have searched the internet and i havent found any root methods for the new line of g pad tablets. Does anyone know anyone? Im particularly interested in rooting g pad 7 but as the harware is the same in all, it would be possible to also work for all of them. Thank you.
Hi,
I have Gpad 7, and i succefully root it with towelroot
Thanks. Tomorrow i'll have one in my hands. Will try it.
Just got my hands on it. I successfully rooted it with towelroot. Easiest rooting of my life.

Google it. Its a website worked for my s4 on 4.4.2 nc1 but I tried with the gpad and said it was not compatible with it.
Towel root worked for my gpad, s5, g3, and fire TV lol
I have the gpad 7.0 for att and towel root says it's not compatible unfortunately.

Yes its the LTE version. But after continuing to research I was able to root using the purpledrake method!!
https://towelroot.com
Worked like a champ. Quick and easy. G pad 10.1 Wifi.
G Pad 7.0 LTE AT&T. Towelroot did not work for me but PurpleDrake did.
CM11/Custom Rom V400
Do you know if theres CM or other custom rom for LG G PAD 7 (v400)?
Tks
Not yet, you would need to wait until we get development off the floor with at least a custom recovery.
Has anyone tried Purpledrake on a Verizon G Pad 10.1 LTE? Just picked one up and am eager to root it, but don't want to brick it right off the bat!

I tried Towel Root but it said my device isn't compatible. I see that Purple Drake worked for the G Pad 7 LTE but I wonder if anyone tried it on the G Pad 10.1 LTE. I'd be willing to try it if I knew that trying wouldn't possibly brick my unit (like Towel Root -- if it can't do it, it tells you or just reboots).
Unfortunately I think you are one of the first with the lte version. I can't speak for purple drake I have never used it myself.
Sent from my SPH-L900 using XDA Free mobile app
Well, I tried Purpledrake and it told me my Verizon LG G Pad 10.1 LTE isn't running a compatible software version, so it didn't work. If anyone has any suggestions, I'm open to hearing them!
That stinks if you find anything let us know.
