Flash the preview just like you would a factory image using the flash-all.bat, or modify the flash-all.bat by opening it in editpad lite or notepad and remove the -w to keep it from wiping your device. Or you can fastboot flash the boot and system images after doing a factory reset in TWRP like I did. For a preview beta version it's running pretty good. Lots of changes to the UI.
Now that my curiosity has been satisfied I'll be going back to 4.4.4 shortly.

with how Google has treated the LTE (still don't have 4.4.3 ota on mine) I highly doubt we will even get any more updates. Not holding my breath.

May I ask something as well?
For a nexus, flashing a custom kernel requires root or unlock bootloader?
What is the use of unlock bootloader on a nexus device?
I came from a sony phone and that require unlocking bootloader to install custom kernel..not so sure about nexus.

Well you need to unlock your bootloader in order to root. I think you do need to unlock. But unlocking the bootloader is super easy so I don't see a reason not to.

BE CAREFUL of updates. Newer updates change the touchscreen driver!
If the touchscreen is working perfectly out of the box, DON'T UPDATE OTA.
If it works out of the box, I would recommend not updating and/or just flashing an updated custom rom without the touchscreen updates.

Nexus 7 2013 4.3.1

Good night (in Portugal), I got a Nexus 7 2013 Wi-Fi recently, is equipped with the 4.3 version of Android and a Firmware JSS15R.
I wonder if some version already out after JSS15R 4.3.1 or whatever ...
Also wanted to know if I will continue to receive official OTA updates from Google for my Nexus 7 since I have done the root
Thank outset

That's the current build, though 4.4 will be released soon. You can still get OTAs if you're rooted, but as far as I know you need to have the stock recovery and stock kernel.

Is there an "official" 4.4.2 zip for Nexus 7 2013 Flo?

Hello xda developers!
So I had a quick question that I am really hoping that someone here can help me out with...
I have my N7 2013 32GB WiFi only model FLO tablet running Android 4.4 rooted (of course) with Multirom installed.
Okay so when I rooted my N7 I flashed the kexec kernel patch so I could install Ubuntu Touch...not knowing that Ubuntu Touch is only available for the N7 2012 tablet. So a few days after installing the kexec-patch an upgrade was available for Nexus 7. I tried installing the 4.4.2 upgrade but I knew that it was not going to work....
What I am wondering is, is there a way I can download the official ROM for the Nexus 7 (I want the official) and flash it with TWRP and Multirom? Will Multirom allow you to flash to the "internal" ROM?
If I can flash an offical nexus 7 flo rom I can then just root it again with the Nexus Root Toolkit.
I have done a lot of work with other ROMs on my Nexus 7 tablet that I have installed with MultiRom and I really don't want to have to erase everything just to put the official 4.4.2 upgrade on my N7. Yet...I really want the upgrade because I have heard they fixed a lot of issues with the camera.
Has anyone uploaded an apk for the official Nexus 7 4.4.2 camera app? If I can't flash an "official" nexus 7 flo ROM could I just install the camera apk from the Nexus 7 4.4.2 update?
I am really hoping someone can point me in the right direction here...
On a personal note I just want to say how much I enjoy this place and I am so thankful for xda and all the amazing work contributed by the developers and testers. Thank you all so much!
You all are the reason I will never buy an iPad or iPhone!
I thank you all for your time and your assistance.

You can download factory images here. https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images#razor
The included flash-all.bat will also restore the stock recovery, but you can always flash TWRP afterward. Someone else will have to chime in about MultiROM, which I've never used.
Pandae thanks so much for the reply...
I will check the link out further when I get home.
I am really looking for something like an official OTA zip that I can flash where I can keep my other installed ROMs with twrp and Multirom.
If anyone has done anything like that please let me know...
Thanks again,
Droidshadow

stock kernel for 4.4?
I am thinking now that maybe if i can get a hold of the stock kernel for the Nexus 7 on Android 4.4 i could re-flash the stock kernel to remove the kexec-patch and then i could apply the official OTA update to 4.4.2
Does anyone think this would work?
Does anyone happen to know where I might be able to get the stock kernel for the Nexus 7 FLO for Android 4.4?
Thank you all so much for your time...

I haven't seen a flashable zip for the stock 4.4 kernel. If you have adb setup you can extract the boot image from inside the factory image and fastboot flash that. Did you make a backup (nandroid) after you rooted? Of course you did! Just restore "Boot" from your backup made with TWRP. To get the OTA to work your "system" will also need to be stock and you need to have stock recovery. If you don't have stock recovery and you have TWRP for instance you can flash the OTA zip with TWRP. At the very least your system and kernel will have to be stock to get an OTA to work. Edit: I just saw this ROM Stock Rooted 4.4.2 - KOT49H and it looks like you have to flash the bootloader seperatley. Flash the ROM and bootloader with TWRP.

Hello, There is a way to download the stock ROM. I will leave a link and a tutorial on how to install it below. If you just want to flash it with TWRP then copy the .zip to your flash drive or whatever. I prefer to use fastboot because then I can flash only certain parts of the update and preserve my root. Hope this helps.

[Q] Why Flash Bootloader and Radio? How?

In the changelog for 4.4 RC 1, we are told that we need to flash a new bootloader and radio. This has not been part of my normal process. Why do we need to do this? Also, I wasn't able to find any threads on suggested bootloaders and radios for PA. Please point me in the right direction if this is something I really need to do. (using a Nexus 5)

Dose of awesome sauce on this week from PA Headquarters, again. As you may know we merged 4.4.3 into our source. You will need to flash new bootloader, radio, Gapps and update to latest recovery before going forward. Many bugs have been also resolved on our bug tracker thanks to community’s reports, less to go.

I'm not sure why I needed to do this, but I did it and I'm using 4.4 RC 1 now.
Thanks!
It was mentioned to do so but should have specified that it was only for those old 3.99 holdouts that weren't ready to switch. Mainly only applied to mako users.

You don't need to update anything then. If your device didn't come with any new boot loaders or radios then there is obviously nothing to update.

Can't get this to boot at all. Flashed latest TWRP, adb sideloaded the ROM, formatted data, factory reset... just hangs at the Google logo. Everything went through 100% with no errors. Been sitting doing nothing for 45 minutes now. Did the same thing when I flashed from internal storage. Any ideas?
