Buddy, nowadays each and every phone comes with scratch resistant glass, so don't worry about that. Some of the fellow members here are using the phone without scratch guard without any issues, but I would still suggest you to apply a scratch guard when you buy the phone because no screen is scratch proof (heck I even managed to scratch gorila glass).
PS- please don't open new threads unnecessarily as there is already an existing thread on scratch resistant glass. Since you are a new member I suggest you to go through the forum rules. Welcome to the xda forum!

i used a sgs2 for 1 +1/2 yeas and it has literally no scratches not even a small one (i know cuz i sold it to a friend and he was blown away by the condition i had it)so i don't think i will use a screen guard(i don't like their feel too)
edit: im so sorry i searched the whole sub-forum for this phone and found nothing i did not knew we had a dedicated thread

Compatibility: Specifically designed for LG Google Nexus 5 (2013)
Invisible, superior quality, 3-layer PET film that will not distort the High Definition screen clarity/colors
Protects screen from daily scratches, dust, scrapes, and normal signs of wear
Attaches smoothly with self-adhering surface, leaves no residue when removed
Includes: 3x Screen Protector, Micro-Fiber Cleaning Cloth, Squeeze Card
First, The screen protectors were in a nice stiff card board packaging. This protects it from bends during shipping. This is a nice change from the usual screen protectors I order off ebay thats in a simple envolope and sometimes comes bent.
The accessories are of good quality. The microfiber is better than the ones I usually get with screen protectors. It's grey, decent in size and has a good feel to it. It's tons better than the pink, blue or yellow cheapies that come with other screen protectors. (You know the microfiber sheets I'm talking about, we all got one of those before), It also comes with a squeegee and lint remover/hinge stickers. The lint remover/hinge stickers are meant for any dust you can see on the screen before applying or used as a hinge for applying the film.
Also for the first timers in applying a screen protector; it has step by step directions for best results. There are instructions for 2 methods. Hinge method (what the stickers are for) and regular method.
It has cutouts for the camera, ear piece speaker and light sensors. They are cut and aligned correctly. This being said it is a little difficult to get an absolute perfect alignment of all three since the "remove tab 1 here" is at the bottom of the protector. This means that you need to apply the bottom first on the phone and aligning the 3 at the top is a little difficult. There are 3 protectors so thats good if you mess up once or twice.
The film is definitely clear, no rainbow effects, no loss of touch sensitivity and not too sticky when swiping my finger across it. When removing the second film on the protector, it is quite sticky however. Just do a quick wipe with a liquid lcd/glass cleaner. It went away and now its has a good smooth but feel when doing finger gestures. You can barely tell there is a screen protector on the thing.
Overall I'm very happy with it. 3 Protectors with lifetime warranty. Techmatte, the maker of the protectors, also has good customer service. What not to like about that?
I'd give it an easy 9.5/10

Tempered glass screen guard

Hi
Please check the link
http://www.phonearena.com/news/PET-...-to-know-to-choose-a-screen-protector_id58204
Protection with a temper! Tempered glass (TG) screen protectors are the absolute best you can buy. Material-wise, a high-quality TG protector is multi-layered, usually starting with shock absorbent silicon on the bottom layer, followed by PET film, and an optically clear adhesive to 'sandwich' the previous two layers with the next two, which are tempered glass and oleophobic coating. All of this scratch, oil, and shock protecting goodness is compressed into a <0.4mm-thick sheet that's no harder to apply than a PET or TPU protector, and none heavier or otherwise obnoxious.
A glass protector is superior to its alternatives in every way. It has better light transmittance, making for a clearer display. It's anti-reflective and glare reducing. It has oleophobic coating, which heavily reduces fingerprints. It has the smooth feel of actual glass under your fingertips. Unlike Gorilla Glass 3, it resists sand scratches, making it the only viable option for beachgoers. And let's talk about shock protection. T-glass protectors boast a material hardness rating of 8H to 9H, meaning they are hard enough to resist scratches from anything that's not topaz or corundum (extremely hard aluminum oxide). Yet, they aren't completely shatter-proof. Since this is toughened glass we're talking about, in the event of a fatal drop, the protector will absorb all the damage and break into tiny shards. Chances are pretty good that your display will end up unscathed underneath. Thus, instead of having to replace the entire screen, you'll only have to get a new protector. Which is easier on both your soul and your wallet.
As you probably expected, tempered glass protectors are the most expensive kind. Most renowned brands can charge up to $40 for their products. And although that's money well spent if you are rocking an expensive flagship smartphone, excellent tempered glass protectors can be found for less than $15 online.

Skinomi Tech Glass first impressions/mini review

Hello everyone. I just got the chance to install the Skinomi Tech Glass tempered glass screen protector that I ordered off of Amazon a couple days ago for $14.95 after I noticed that my Nillkin chipped in a couple of spots on top of the screen protector and proceeded to crack.
The overall packaging of the Skinomi is done rather well and unless heavy items is stacked on the packaging the screen protector should be safe during transport. I chose the Skinomi product over other products because of a lifetime replacement warranty they have on the product so if this screen protector happens to chip or lift up because of a poor manufacturing process I have that extra piece of mind. Some features this product has is as mentioned before a lifetime warranty, a thin profile(seems thinner than Nillkin although the official specs has it the same), rounded edges, oleophobic coating, and a proximity sensor cutout. Installation was a breeze and the fit is much like the Nillkin with a couple of millimeters of space around the edges. So far I am quite satisfied with the product, I will upload pictures of the installation soon.

Does is come with a back protector as well? I noticed my Nillkin has small chips at a few spots as well. One of them looks like it's cracked slightly but it's so thin you don't notice it. I'm thinking it'll blow out eventually though so I'll have to replace sooner or later. Damned if I know how how it would have chipped since I've never dropped it or keep it near anything that could do it.
The cheap back protector that comes with the Nillkin seems to be doing the job, it's scratched to hell! So I'll never not have anything on the back.
No the Skinomi does not come with a back protector, just the front. I still have my Nillkin back cover still on the phone.
I am assuming the keys in my pocket caused the chips on my Nillkin because I never dropped my phone either.
Forgive me if this sounds stupid, is this meant to be use in place of the stock glass that comes on the Z1?

no. it covers the glass, so you technically have 2 layers of glass on the front of your phone.

Otterbox Alpha Glass tempered glass protector for S5 w/pics.

For those who follow hundreds of my reviews in this community (just check a link in my signature), you probably going to be surprised I made a post without my usual "Review..." prefix. I was in a process of reviewing various Otterbox cases for Galaxy phones, and was made aware of their tempered glass product I never heard of before. At the current moment I already have tempered glass installed on our S5 and would rather keep it as is. Therefore, this is more of an acknowledgement of the product with a close up pictures without an actual installation. I'm more than confident installation is going to be a breeze since S5 screen is perfectly flat, unlike headaches we are having over at Note 4 section lol!!!
Here is a link Otterbox Alpha Glass: http://www.otterbox.com/Alpha-Glass...ung-Galaxy-S5/sam38-galaxy-s5,default,pd.html
Otterbox is well known for their Commuter and Defender cases, which I'm sure doesn't need any introduction since every carrier has it in their store as well as Best Buy. Commuter, their lighter everyday protection case, comes with a bonus film protector already while Defender, their heavy duty case, has film protector built into the case. It's a good scratch protection, but it will not save your display from a direct impact that could easily shatter the glass. That's how tempered glass protectors became so popular, adding another thin layer of glass on top of your display. From it's product description, Alpha Glass has all the typical features of anti-shatter and anti-scratch, 9H hardness, crystal clear visibility, and touch capacity like the original display. This glass actually comes in 4 different models, 2 crystal clear and 2 privacy dimmed which obviously going to reduce clarity while giving you more protection from people looking over your shoulder or sitting next to you on the train or a bus. Each one has a variation of a generic Standalone cut for any case or Otterbox Compatible cut to accommodate Otterbox cases. The model I got was Standalone Clear.
In the box you get a tempered glass protector (that yellow film is a protective removable layer), an alcohol wipe, a cleaning wipe cloth, and step-by-step install instructions. Also, if you visit their page from the link above, they have a detailed installation video. I didn't install it, but put it on top of the S5 to confirm a precise cut fitment. Another thing to keep in mind, Otterbox offers LifeTime replacement warranty on this protector, and these guys typically stand behind their warranty where I know if you break the case you just have to create RMA ticket with a picture of the problem and they send you a replacement. I'm sure the same with a tempered glass or in case if you mess it up during installation. Typically, tempered glass install is a lot easier than film, just make sure your hands are washed with soap, display is clean, and you install it in a dust free environment.
If anybody has Alpha Glass installed already, please chime in with your reply or pictures for others to benefit from.
Here are the pictures of the product in and out of the box.

Looks good! I may wanna try it I've gone thru 9 ZAGG Glass ones seems to break easy.

Does P9 come with a screen protector?

I got a brand new Huawei P9 (EVA AL10), which already has some sort of film on the screen (also it comes with a case that I put on). Is this a tempered glass or some other type of film, plastic or glass? What sort of protection is it? Or maybe it's just a casual film that needs to be removed after unpackaging? Notice that the film does not cover the screen completely, about a milimeter is not covered in the left and right sides.
It's my first smartphone and I am not familiar with these gadgets at al! Also, I am a clumsy person. I will surely drop the phone (probably regularly once in a while). What sort of accessory can I use to protect against drops? Is a folded-case better than the standard case that comes with the phone for screen protection?

I'm quite sure that was just a flim. You should have bought a tempered glass protection.

My P9 came with some kind of protector (under the outer protecting film). I'm still thinking if I should replace it with something that cover the entire screen because it looks a bit ugly.. Here is how it looks:
Better to keep that plastic screen protector. The tempered glass ones do not work well on the p9. On a second note ugh the ads for this website on mobile are horrible.
I replaced it with something from ScreenKnights. Feels OK but seems to be very sensitive to scratches. Look at the marks I did with just my nails..

Maybe because this is made from silicon like 3MK Arc. It's very soft protector film. It's impossible to scratch it
