[S-OFF]Testers needed for rumrunner method - HTC Desire 300

The folks over at the Desire 500 and 601 category have successfully used the Rumrunner S-OFF method for the Desire X on their devices. I reckon it works on our Desire 300 too, we just need someone to test it. On the site it says that the S-OFF should work with any modern Qualcomm based HTC device. Below are the instructions (taken directly from the site) and the download link.
PREREQUISITES:
1.32-bit Linux (Ubuntu is preferred) Live CD’s are fine.
Live USB is fine.
Native install is fine.
VM’s are unsupported.
64-bit Linux may work with 32 bit libraries, but is unsupported.
Or Windows HTC drivers installed and working – fastboot AND adb drivers
HTC sync removed (not closed – REMOVED)
All other phone software removed or disabled (Samsung Kies, PDANet, etc.)
VM’s are unsupported.
ALL firewalls and internet security applications should be totally disabled. If you get stuck with rows and rows of dots during the connection test process, it’s network filtering or other network issue!
2. A working internet connection3. USB debugging enabled on your device4. Fast boot disabled on your device (settings -> battery -> UNcheck “fast boot”)
5. Your device must be HTCDEV unlocked or rooted unless using rumrunner with a device blocked by htcdev (e.g. m7wlv)
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Ensure device is booted to android with usb debugging enabled.
USB 2.0 ports are preferred.
USB 3.0 ports are known to cause connectivity problems
You should not be connected using any hubs which may cause connectivity issues
Use the original HTC usb cable or a cable that you know to work with adb and fastboot on this device
2. Ensure that lock screen security is disabled on your device.
no passcode lock
no pattern lock
no face lock
3. Download rumrunner for your device. Linux users – this must be to your ~/Downloads direrctory.
Linux users – do NOT try to download or run it from your Windows/Mac drive or a USB drive that is not formatted for native Linux use. It won’t work!
4. Extract the archive tar -zxf rumrunner<device>_<version>.tgz (Linux)
Unzip the file rumrunner<device>_<version>.zip (Windows)
5. Execute soju: linux: sudo ./soju windows: double-click soju.exe
6. Agree to the terms and conditions you are prompted with in soju
7. Allow the exploit to do its work.
8. Your device will reboot several times throughout the process

I will test it today or tomorrow and I will tell you the answer

Any news on this method for S-OFF?

NOT even working!
Sent from my GT-I9082 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app

I confirm - it does not work, below is a screenshot of the universal version, I got identical error with the Desire X version,
Windows 7 x64,
HTC Desire 300 rooted and unlocked bootloader

[GUIDE] How to get access to sdcard/mount usb under Android 2.3.1 Gingerbread/CM 7.0

Again and again, many user are asking how to get access
to the SD card under android 2.3.1 Gingerbread or CM 7.0.
So I prepared, the solutions that I found here and have tested
under Windows XP x32 and Windows Vista x32.
Both methods are working for me on these systems!
Method 1:
1. Right click on My Computer, go to Properties.
2. Go to Device Manager
3. Find your My HTC (should be the second one Android USB Device), right click on it and select Update Driver Software
4. Then select Browse My Computer for Software
5. Then choose Let Me Pick which driver to install on the bottom.
6. Then choose USB Mass Storage Device
After this unplugging the phone. I have change the MTP to ADB Testing Interface or Android ADB Interface and things seem to be mounting everytime.
Rebooted phone and PC, both worked again so I think this may be a working solution.
Now go to MTP
1. Right click on My Computer, go to Properties.
2. Go to Device Manager
3. Find your MTP (should be under Unknown Devices), right click on it and select Update Driver Software
4. Then select Browse My Computer for Software
5. Then choose Let Me Pick which driver to install on the bottom.
6. Then choose Google Inc. and the Driver is ADB Testing Interface
or Android ADB Interface
Method 2:
Download USBDreview and delete all android drivers (including adb)
Download PDAnet and install (it will install all necessary android drivers)
Job done.
Any way to sort this in Win 7 x64?
Drive shows up but says INSERT DISC :s
New to this Android stuff and and getting nowhere fast!
TIA
If the cm kernel is being built correctly it shouldn't be showing as an mtp device at all, this only happens with stock kernels, a good example is the pershoot oc kernel I built and posted as opposed to flippy's, I think he is just using the msm7x30 source and either not using the correct drivers, or it is not being configured correctly.
I haven't seen a proper cm kernel that behaves that way.
Here's how to fix the USB problem in two easy steps:
1) Install Linux.
2) Learn bash.

[Q] Driver software for Windows 8 x64?

I'm trying to root my HTC Desire but falling at one of the first hurdles: I'm not able to install the driver software, I see the following error:
hxxp://i.imgur.com/5n720Wi.png
I'm running Windows 8 64-bit, and I'm trying to follow the steps to root as described here: androidforums.com/desire-all-things-root/300866-guide-rooting-htc-android-2-2-1-lower-unrevoked-windows-updated-20th-december-2012-a.html
I've installed HTC Sync and uninstalled HTC manager, and uninstalled Dropbox. I can connect to the Desire via USB both in HBOOT (with a successful USB connection message) and in regular Android OS.
I experimented with a couple other drivers - "Universal_Naked_Driver_0.72.zip" and "Acer_A1.win8.usb_drivers.x86_x64.rar" I found mentioned elsewhere.
Are there other drivers available? Any other advice for me to root this for the first time?
I have posted sometime earlier workaround to get it working on Win8, search.

That's not right. Because your screenshot shows an Android 1.0 Device and this means the Desire isn't connected correctly.
Uninstall ALL about HTC and Desire. start the device manager and there activate in the options show disabled Device. Than you look in EVERY directory for Android, Desire, HTC. And remove the Drivers. right klick, remove and than yes and make sure if there is a option that says complete delet the driver say yes.
For Fastboot drivers:
Start Desire in Fastboot, and than you connect to the PC. Normaly Win 8 searches for Drivers. Than it says nothing found. Try in the Device Manager right Klick on Android 1.0 - If there is something about HTC Bootloader with an ! than you have an diferent problem - and research for drivers -> Internet. Than it normaly should work. If not download these drivers directly from unrevoke.
http://unrevoked.com/rootwiki/doku.php/public/windows_hboot_driver_install directly from unrevoked.
and go to device manager, install drivers from PC. Also here make sure the unknown device is an Android 1.0 if the name is different pls tell us.
For Normal use:
after Fastboot works, you download the newest HTC Sync for Desire: http://www.htc.com/de/support/news.aspx?p_id=312&p_name=htc-desire
Ok run the installation BUT After you startet setup it says something like there are a few things missing befor installing. These are HTC Driver, something about Adobe, install these. After that the installer ask for some agreements for HTC Sync now you cancle the install, because all you need are the drivers and they are now installed. It should work now.
If there are some more problems let me know. I had some trouble with the ADB and fastboot drivers a week ago, too but now it works

[Q] Cannot Unlock Bootloader on Windows 8.1

Hello,
I cannot get the bootloader unlock working on my Win 8.1 laptop by any means. If I try through hasoon2000's toolkit, I get the error that the ADB server did not ACK (whatever that means). If I try using the command line and HTC's official method of getting the TokenID, I get a message that a certain ADB-related dll is not installed. I have installed the USB drivers that come with hasoon2000's toolkit about 4 times now. I installed the Android SDK and even Samsung USB drivers. I'm going to uninstall everything, can someone walk me through the step-by-step to get things working? I've read that USB 3.0 is the problem, but I only have USB 3.0 ports on my laptop.

Use another computer if you can.
I had similar problems until I used this version of adb
http://www.mediafire.com/download/e5mieo2vxjd71ws/android-tools.zip
Run everything from the downloaded folder.
First of all ensure you have USB DEBUGGING enabled in DEVELOPER OPTIONS in the phone settings.
Open the downloaded folder then right click inside the folder while holding shift then choose 'Open command Windows here'
Plug in the phone using the original HTC usb cable then in the command window type ADB DEVICES. The response should be a device comprised of letters and numbers.
If you don't see any device attached try swapping the cable to another usb port. If you see your device attached then follow the unlock instructions at HTCDEV as its the most reliable way.
If still no device then it could be a usb driver problem. You should here a ding when you plug your phone in.
Make sure the Unlock_code.bin is in the above folder when unlocking.

That version of ADB didn't work for me either. Anyway I was able to get fastboot to work but not ADB so I was able to unlock and root and everything through a strange method using only fastboot.
Second question, if I am switching between AOSP roms, say for example CM to PA, can I dirty flash or do I have to reset?
ADB does not work with USB 3.0 ports yet on Windows 8 or 8.1. You have to use it on a USB 2.0 port. I have had best results with Windows 7. Fastboot, however, works just fine on 8.1 and 8

Not so, I and others have ADB working fine on USB 3.0 ports.
The problem is Windows 8 driver signing enforcement blocking the install of drivers. You need to go to advanced startup options to disable it.
Download these drivers first and extract: http://www.mediafire.com/download/i3lcm7dwl581518/ADB_Fastboot_Drivers_Win81.zip
Follow these instructions to disable driver signing enforcement: http://www.isunshare.com/windows-8/...gnature-enforcement-in-windows-8-and-8.1.html
Once fully booted go into device manager and you should see a device called 'Android 1.0' with an exclamation mark.
Right click 'Android 1.0' then 'update driver software' then 'Browse my computer for driver software'
Click the 'Browse' button and then browse to the driver folder 'ADB_Fastboot_Drivers_Win81' extracted earlier then click next to install the driver.
You will get a warning about unsigned drivers, just ignore and continue.
The drivers should install and you should see a new entry in device manager called 'Android phone' which means the ADB driver is installed.
ADB should now be working.
Thank you so much for this. Have been wondering for a very long time

It sounds like you've got plenty of technical help already, but I will say that I use ADB perfectly fine on my desktop with Win 8.1 so it's possible. I also use hassoon's toolkit occasionally with no issue.
Before I could get the desktop to recognize the M8 I had to completely uninstall all drivers related to my previous galaxy nexus as well as remove any mention of the device in Window's USBdeview. After a reboot, I just plugged in the M8 and windows automatically installed the necessary M8 drivers. I can then run fastboot and adb from the toolkit.
I ended up uninstalling the MSFT USB 3.0 drivers and use the Intel USB 3.0 drivers instead on my Win8.1 laptop that has only USB 3.0 ports. Works great.

HTC 10 is not detected by computer

Hello guys
I have a problem with my HTC 10 : I cannot connect it to the computer. I am using the original cable that came in the box but is not working. When I connect the phone to the computer, I can hear the sound that a device was connected but then nothing happens: I cannot see any usb device on the windows tray, I cannot even see it in Device Manager. There is nothing. -this is what happens on the computer . On my phone, after I connect it to the pc, it starts charging, then after 5 seconds it disconnects and connects again to the pc and I get the Slow Charging error on the screen.
This is what I tried so far:
-restart the phone
-restart the computer
-install the htc usb drivers
-install htc sync
-install android sdk dev kit
-enabled usb debugging
-enable oem unlock
-uninstalled udates from gplay and gplay services, restart and try again
-use another cable
All these steps did not changed anything. Still nothing in windows tray, and nothing in device manager.
I did not tried to reset to factory settings tho' . This might be the last resort
I am running Android 7.0, Stock ROM, Neverlocked device.
I am using Windows 8.1 x64 with latest updates.
Is this the first time you connected to the pc?
There seemed to be an issue with HTC driver & Windows 10 (what I am on), but may apply to 8.1 as well. <I got the same problems you had when I first tried messing with an HTC phone a couple years back ..... It is possible Windows or HTC had got this sorted out since.>
What I had to do (a couple years ago now) to get HTC drivers working was this:
1. Install HTC sync, then uninstall it. This leaves the HTC driver on the pc, but without HTC software. HTC sync + android dev kit (adb & fastboot) seemed to cause problems.
2. There was an issue with HTC phone being recognized over USB in Win 10. I have to edit the registry by adding this key:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\usbflags\0BB40FF00100]
"SkipBOSDescriptorQuery"=hex:01,00,00,00
<Open RegEdit, navigate to folder 0BB40FF00100 using path in square brackets, then add the key in second line with the proper hex value. You might want to make a copy of the registry and set a restore point before you mess with the Registry in case things got messed up.>
This had worked for me ever since. <Did that to connect the original ONE, and the 10 connected without any change to the pc.>
Thanks for the answer man. I tried to follow your steps but it seems that I do not have the folder 0BB40FF00100 in [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\usbflag
I do not really know how to proceed next.
Sorry, I missed a step. I have to go back to my old post to figure out what I did.
My problem was Win 10 not recognizing HTC devices in fastboot without a registry change. This may or may not be related to your problem.
Since you cannot see the phone in device manager, there may be a broader USB issue. Before you go down my route, I would suggest that:
1. If possible see if you can connect with another computer.
2. Try Windows USB troubleshooter, and uninstalling Window USB driver and reinstalling.
3. Try uninstalling all HTC drivers, and reinstalling using just HTC sync. <Installing HTC sync should install the drivers as well, without having to install some standalone HTC drivers from unknown source.> See if you can see the 10 from HTC sync.
The Registry change idea comes from : https://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-wildfire-s/general/driver-finally-how-to-fastboot-to-t2857536
which does mention that this is a Win 8.1 problem, but not a problem in win 8.0
The thread points to the instructions here: https://www.android-hilfe.de/forum/...windows-ab-version-8-1-aktivieren.601686.html
This is in German, and a similar xda thread here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-wildfire-s/general/driver-finally-how-to-fastboot-to-t2857536
To edit the registry, you navigate to ....\usbflag,
then you create a key 0BB40FF00100 [ Edit -> New-> Key ]
That creates the key folder, then within the folder, you create a new entry as per the 2nd line. [ Edit -> New -> Binary Value ]

Installing Graphene OS on pixel 3 XL Please help....!

Hi!
Because I wanted more privacy and security online I decided to buy a second hand Pixel 3 XL and want to install graphene OS. I've been trying for days now to make it work but I just cant get it to work and it's very frustrating:crying: so can someone please help me out??
I've been trying to install it on a windows pc and on a linux pc.
I'm not new to computers but I'm new to installing custom roms and new to linux.
This is what i'm following for installing it in windows:
Flashing GrapheneOS in Windows 10
Install or update the Android SDK Platform Tools:
Download and unpack the Standalone Android SDK Platform-Tools package: https://developer.android.com/studio/releases/platform-tools
Add a PATH Environment Variable to the unpacked folder (Windows 10: Control Panel > Advanced System Settings > Environment Variables)
Make sure that there are no other versions of Android SDK Platform Tools in your computer. Old versions will result to failures in image flashing.
Install or update the Google USB Device Driver:
Download the Google USB Device driver: https://developer.android.com/studio/run/win-usb
Open Windows OS Device Manager and find the new device that shows up when you plug in your phone
Update device driver (Windows 10: Device Manager > Universal Serial Bus devices > [Device Name] > Update driver) using the Google USB Device driver
Prepare the system image:
Download the factory system image that is appropriate for the device:
Important: Always use factory system images for installations. OTA system images are intended only for updates: https://grapheneos.org/releases
If possible, verify the system image integrity
Verify checksum
Check signature
Flash the system image into the device:
Notes:
First make sure that the stock system image is updated to the latest release to avoid any problems.
There is no need to turn on USB Debugging in Developer Options to flash a system image (even when sideloading with ADB in Recovery Mode.)
Enable OEM unlocking in Developer Options (Important: This requires internet access on devices with Google Play Services as part of Factory Reset Protection (FRP) for anti-theft protection.)
Unlock the bootloader:
Put the device in Fastboot Mode (Turn off the device then press and hold the Power and Volume Down Buttons at the same time until you see the Fastboot Mode Screen)
Connect to the computer and verify the connection: "fastboot devices"
Unlock the bootloader: "fastboot flashing unlock" (use the Volume then the Power buttons to confirm)
The device performs a factory reset then boots back to Fastboot Mode
Install the system image:
Open a Command window, go to the unpacked system image folder and run the flash-all.bat script
During the update, the device will reboot to fastbootd. Do not do anything and let the update continue
After it is done, choose option 'Reboot to bootloader' from the fastbootd menu to go back to Fastboot Mode
Re-lock the bootloader:
Lock the bootloader: "fastboot flashing lock" (use the Volume then the Power buttons to confirm)
The device performs a factory reset then boots back to Fastboot Mode
Complete the device configuration
Unplug the device from the computer and choose option 'Start' in Fastboot Mode to load the device OS
Perform device configuration
Click to collapse
So the issues i'm facing are:
When I'm Trying to install using windows I can't get windows to recognize my phone.
I've installed platform tools but when i want to verify the fastboot connection it keeps saying waiting for device.
I've tried updating the driver many different times in many different ways but cant resolve the issue.
on a linux pc i'm following the manual from the website:
https://grapheneos.org/install
I downloaded platformtools but I cant set the PATH to update the version. and use the new version.
is there another way to install it? Or can someone guide me step by step exactly what to do?
thanks in advance!
Not sure if this will help any but perhaps try new a cable or a different USB port. I've read sometimes USB 2.1 works but USB 3.0 doesn't or vice versa.

Thanks for your reply,
I got it to work! I misread one step, I connected the cable and instead of staying in fastboot mode (on the fastbootmode screen) I pressed start (power button) and proceeded to starting the OS. I thought that this was how it operated but now I understand how it works
i'm not really helping here but what is so good about GrapheneOS vs stock? i have never heard of them

Look at the GrapheneOS website and you'll find the answer.
In a nutshell: No Gapps or Play Services and securized kernel plus some other under-the-hood security improvements.
Only thing which i miss per default is the root access so i'm using it without AVB.

Well... I'm not sure if you got your problem solved; however, now that the Pixel 3 no longer receives security updates, Graphene will no longer support their OS for your phone...
So, you can go with Lineage OS or do what I did and utilize Calyx OS.
I've had no issues thus far ..
does anyone have a graphene os build files for pixel 3xl? I want to return to stock and i must have deleted build. Thank you
