Enable USB debugging in Developer options. Google how to enable developer options.

Already had done that. But then i remmbered that mtp doesn't allow usb debugging on some devices. So i turned to ptp and voila!! Btw does the 7505 recovery work on 7500 version?

[Q] Need help rooting... adb devices = nothing

So I cracked my lcd and just received a replacement from insurance... it wont show a device so I can root it.
What's is there to check in order for the device to show? I have reinstalled the HTC drivers and restarted my system but nothing.
What is the best way to root 2.3.3?
Thanks!

already checked... i found this on another site, but am not sure what "Disk Mode" is
I type “adb devices” and get no serial number!
That means your drivers aren’t installed correctly or your phone isn’t in Disk Mode or USB debugging is not check on, please check those three and you should be good to go!

When you connect to the computer, you should see the usb icon in the status bar. Make sure it says charge only for adb to work. Might also want to download HTC sync or get the android usb drivers from unrevoked.
used another computer... everything is great now
must be a driver issue on my laptop
thanks for the help though!

Re-install the sdk, and make sure you have the two adb.dll files, as sometimes they are missing, and cause it not to work.

[Q] How can connect Nexus to PC without Admin Rights?

I don't know If this question was asked before but I couldn't find any in the forum. I also read some topics about MTP but no straight forward solution.
How can I connect my Galaxy Nexus to a PC without having Admin Rights? As you know MTP needs driver which it is not possible to install it on a PC without admin rights. A quick solution would be appreciated. I missed USB device my phone a lot.
...and PLEASE do not say to "call your admin", everybody knows that!
Uncheck "usb debug" in the developer menu options
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
If you are using Windows 7, plugging it in would work.

I really didn't want to hear that but thanks anyway, at least I don't have to look elsewhere.
BTW disabling debug option didn't work for me. However, do you mean if we had Win7, it would work by disabling debug mode?

It didn't work for me! I'm wondering what makes the different.
MTP is supported in Windows XP if Windows Media Player 10 or later versions are installed.

Win7 have MTP drivers, no need to disable anything.

This is the other problem! The media player installed is v9 and my nonsense admin in the company don't want to update it, generally he is against updating anything including his brain!
Thanks guys for help, I learned a few things here anyway.
When you first boot the computer repeatedly tap f5 until menu for safe mode pops up. Choose safe mode with networking. Unless they put password on machine you can access and install. Safe mode will bypass any admin setting

Does enter safe mode also requires password?
An alternative for the OP, indirect solution
Install some app on your phone which will enable you to transfer files via LAN(like something makes your phone as a uploadable FTP server , in which your phone and computer need to connect to same Wi-Fi. Then you can transfer files via Internet Explorer.
Or buy a OTG cable and USB storage device... transfer file to USB and then OTG to phone...
Just 2 stupid ideas....
Furthermore, if it is XP, google some Win PE environment, in which should have tools to disable admin password, hard problem is how you set it back as you never hacked into System.
One more thing, I think XP's admin password was saved in some file, you may be able to kill it by delete this file or replace it with non-password file ....
I don't know, either way, you need secondary operating system such as WinPE, even Dos....
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Depends how they set it up. Usually it will bypass. You can also try leaving it blank Cuz default is usually empty unless they went into dos and set one up. Usually don't Cuz people don't know bout that backdoor
I've never needed pe to bypass intalls

Have you install the latest one? try unintsall & reinstall it again, changing usb port and cable. sometime it will happen as driver conflict and try with another PC also.

Your drivers are not correct, that's why the pc is not detecting the phone, try downloading MI Flash Tool, it has all the necessary drivers for Z2 Plus, google it

Connect your smartphone to PC
Make sure the USB debugging is enabled and revoke all debugging history(the option below the enable debugging)
Now install the drivers that appear on the screen as ZUK z2 drivers or something like that.
Install it .
It should take some time.
Then try the following command line"adb devices"
Now a prompt should appear
Click always allow and then on allow.
Now you should be able to connect your phone to the PC.
I just unlocked my bootloader on a win 10 machine
Like this if this works for you.

Hello,
What happens in "Device manager" when you plug your cable in? Is it listed?
Good luck...
I was having an issue like this with my previous 3XL. It would say Unknown USB device (Device Descriptor Request Failed) . I tried multiple PCs and nothing worked. Ended up using my extended warranty and paying the deductible to get a replacement which is working fine.

all that is coming up is google nexus ADB interface, it seems like the drivers will not install properly. I cant get it replaced under warrantly as i had to get it second hand due to lack of money. It connects and windows makes the noise to inform its detected the device but no matter how many times i manually install the driver it does not work and windows does not seem to auto download the driver, this is something ive noticed on all machines I have
