KatKiss ROM
KitKat 4.4.4MultiWindow + Floating & Resizable WindowsAsus TF300T - TF201
After a few years of success on the TF101, KatKiss is now available for the TF300T
This rom is an aosp based rom with my own additions on top of it.
The main motto of the rom being Kiss. Even though the Meerkat could give you a kiss, it stands for Keeps it Sweet and Simple too
Which means that just like the other K.A.T stuff, the rom's main goal is efficiency, speed/responsiveness,
while not adding bloated features that will slow things down

Sound improvements & misc : install the K.A.T App
TF300T F2FS compatible recovery: Latest Official TWRP 2.8
F2FS: The included kernel will autodetect if /data is f2fs or ext4 (so you do not need to flash a separate F2FS kernel)
TF201: For the rom to work with the TF201 you need to flash a TF201 Kernel after the rom (reported to work with Grimlock kernel)
Please note that this version is made and tested on the TF300T model.
It is reported to work on the TF201 too as long as you use another kernel like the TF201 grimlock kernel.
as I don't have a TF201 I won't do much support for the TF201 if you're having TF201 specific issues

Tips
Skype Calling
Version 5.x broke calling support.
If you need calls, you have to use an older version like 4.9.0.45564
http://skype.en.uptodown.com/android/old
Wifi channels:
Choose which channels are available based on your country in Settings => Wifi => Advanced => Change wifi regulatory domain
Hardware keyboard layouts
More languages have been added in the default asusec keyboard
Set the keyboard layout through Settings => Language & Input => asusec => setup keyboard layouts
These also allow live switching without reboot with ctrl + space
Global Key Override/Shorcut Mecanism
Available in Settings => Language & Input => Add Key Override Actions
or in Dock Settings
This will allow you not only to redefine function keys assignment, and other special keys actions,
but you'll also be able to assign global macro actions / app launch to any key + Meta key combination (shift Left or Right , ctrl..)
You can also add multiple actions to one key combination, simply click again on the "+" button for the same key combination.
For example if you want to assign to one key combination a list of action to run before going to bed for example, like: turn wifi off, Bluetooth off, mute sound, and turn screen off, you can do that
Note that starting multiple applications with one key is kinda a miss and hit for the moment due to some mecanism in android that seems to prevent applications to start too close to each others.
CIFS & 3rd party Mount Apps:
The Rom/Kernel have native support for them as long as you mount it outside or /storage/ and /mnt/shell/emulated/
Flash & HTML5 Video
Flash is not supported by default on KitKat, you can still use it with Dolphin Dolphin Browser:
Install Dolphin Browser, install or activate Dolphin JetPack in settings, install the latest flash plugin.
Sites are migrating slowly to HTML5 video use the default browser & other webkit based browsers for HTML5 video support
Storage (fstrim) and Database optimization:
Fstrim is native in 4.3 and will happen in the background if your tablet is idle / sleeping and that your battery is > 70%
There is also a script to run it manually in the rom: /etc/kat/optimizestorage
To optimize the Database: /etc/kat/optimizedb
To run both, open a terminal and run:
su
/etc/kat/optimize
Slow downs & Battery drain after a full wipe ? :
Things to keep in mind after flashing with a full wipe:
- Media scanner will need to scan everything again, it can take from a few minutes to hours or days if you have a lot of medias or medias that it doesn't like.
During that process it'll use a lot of cpu and disk, and so can make things lag a bit and drain the battery until it's done.
You can use the Media Scanner filters to speed things up and make it scan only parts that are really containing your medias
- After a wipe, it wipes your battery stats, if you don't flash while you are with a 100% full battery, the battery stats will be inaccurate for a while until it learns again your battery capacity.
The battery can appear to drain faster because it doesn't know where your 100% is.
(see here for tips on how to speed up the learning process)
- Check that you don't have a rogue process eating cpu in the background. (run the top command)
- Check that you don't have a process keeping your tablet awake
Window Animation Scale & Immersive mode:
If you want to be able to drop down from the top to display the status bar while in immersive mode,
the Window Animation Scale must be different than zero.
ART:
ART is not supported for the moment, if ever you tried it, to go back to a working state you can either:
- remove the file /data/property/persist.sys.dalvik.vm.lib + clean cache & dalvik-cache & reboot in your recovery
- or do a full wipe

MultiWindow
Multiwindow allows you to split the screen in 2 vertically (while in landscape) or horizontally, you can switch an app back and forth between multiwindow mode and regular mode while it's running.
Floating & Resizable window mode allows you to freely position the window and resize as many of them as you like.
(memory will be the limit though)
MultiWindow
NavBar:
- To switch between full screen and split View you can use the
NavBar Button
(It will lay apps alternatively in one SplitView spot then the other.)
- To change focus simply Tap on the app or use the
NavBar Button
Recents:
- Clicking on the app Thumbnail works as before and displays the app fullscreen
- Clicking on the app icon or the
icon will switch the app to splitview and lay it in "automode"
(If you use automode when an application was set in a SplitView slot it'll be recalled to that previous spot.)
- Clicking on the other icons will force the app to the 1st or 2nd SplitView slot.
Actions
Actions to switch the app between fullscreen / splitview, switch between the 2 most recent apps and to force the splitview slot have been added
so you can bind them to a key / key combination with the Global KeyOverride or long press action too.
Note: Most apps works ok in splitview mode, but some of them might not refresh correctly sometime.
Same when rotating the screen while in splitview mode.
To force a refresh simply tap the app or if you have 2 apps in split, just click twice on the switch to last app button:
Floating & Resizable Window
.
One Difference with the MultiWindow mode is that an app has to be relaunched to switch between Floating and non floating mode
(you can however maximize the app through the button to get it full screen and click on the minimize button to get it back to floating mode)
Also note that all apps might not behave correctly while put in floating mode, it kinda depends on the app.
To relaunch the Top Running application between floating and non floating mode, click on the new NavBar Button:
Long pressing on the button will show/hide all apps currently running into floating mode. (makes it easy to bring them back and forth as needed)
Global Actions have also been added so you can bind these 2 actions on other long pressing or Dock/Keyboard Key override in Settings
With these icons you can maximize the floating app to full screen , minimize it back to floating mode, and close it.
Using the menu button in the top left corner of the app, you can dock the app half size to the top, bottom, left, right side.
To move the app drag the top bar around, it will auto dock to the sides when you drop it close to them.
To resize an app freely, use 2 fingers pinch (like when you are zooming / unzooming) If the app is docked to the side, you need to undock it first by moving it away from the side.
To switch between apps you can also go through the recents screen, use alt right+tab, or the switch to previous app button.
Clicking on the app icon in the launcher will bring it foreground too. (same if you associated a run application shortcut to the keyboard for example)

whoops, fixed, thanks for letting me know
in addition the file is also being uploaded to xda downloads

Awesome, downloading now. timduru - glad you posted this today. I bought a broken TF300T a few months ago. Went about repairing and then put on the shelf. I mean my TF101 was rock solid and up to date. I was thinking of selling it. It's a keeper now!
Finally pulled it off the shelf yesterday when I saw your post in your TF101 thread. Fixed it and will have KatKiss on it shortly after finishing the download.
What Gapps do you recommend?

Hi, Tim.
Does the kernel support a data partition formatted to F2FS? I see F2FS support listed, but I suspect that is for SD/micro SD cards.

F2FS filesystem support is built in, but the kernel ramdisk is not modified yet to auto-mount /data if it's f2fs.
I'll make a dedicated thread for the kernel later on and post modified versions for /data f2fs support.

Thanks. I'll wait for that. It will save me some work so I won't need to switch TWRP and format data back to ext4.

Strange, I'm having issues flashing. using TWRP 2.6.3 (-ICS).
set_metadata_recursive: some changes failed
E:Error executing updater binary in zip '/KatKiss-4.4.4_TF300T_031.zip'
Error flashing zip 'KatKiss-4.4.4_TF300T_031.zip'
This tablet had stock ICS on it only a few mins ago. Never got OTA up to 4.2.
Could it be due to the bootloader warnings I see everywhere?

OK so I missed the big RED LETTERS in bold at the top of the post that says it doesn't work with old boot loaders. It works with new bootloaders, and OLD roms!
I've managed to unbrick my TF300 now via fastboot. Now will go back to stock. make backups, try to understand the mess that is the TF300 bootloader! Seems like it has bricked many a device!

I have been using this rom on my tf201 for over 24 hours now using the f2fs file system, it's been very stable, smooth and response in this time frame and I have yet to fine any bugs or broken items, ie camera/blue tooth, as gps has never worked for me I can't comment on that.
The multi window works very well and I love being able to reprogram the keyboard keys to do other tasks, I feel that this rom has given my old prime a new lease of life as I have tried all the other KK roms and this seems the best, it's up there with the older JB rom CromiX 5.4
Thank you very much and keep up the amazing work

Release Notes
2.2.2 Release Notes
Yet another update for the rom. Quite a few changes this time.
As usual, this can be flashed cleanly over 2.2.1.
-- solarnz.
2.2.1 Release Notes
You are able to flash 2.2.1 over 2.2.0 as it is mainly just bug fixes.
-- solarnz.
2.2.0 Release Notes
Boy has it been a busy last 2 weeks.
I have built a build system where we now do the majority of our coding in java. Yep java, not smali.
We now have quick controls, in the status bar settings menu.
This rom is mainly just a feature release. Unfortuantly if you had any issues regarding gmail in hammerhead, you will likely get the same issues in this release.
This rom is also still based of 3.2. Yeah I know I said I would be doing 3.2.2, but things change.
-- solarnz.

Fixed the dependency that the ramdisk had on busybox, specifically run-parts.
Version 1.0 - Update 2 (charging light)
Enabled the led charging light in the ramdisk as per popular request.
Version 1.0 - 3g fix
Fixed permissions in /system/bin. This was causing issues with 3g connections.
Replaced framework-res.apk with a less modified version. There is no SIP calling and sms now, but the activation screens work now.
Tips
Automatically installing applications when you flash the rom:
In the zip file, under the directory "data" there is a directory called "tiamat_first_boot_install". You can place all of your apk files that you want installed when you first boot in there. This is useful for applications such as Thumb Keyboard and Titanium Backup

OK, my browser problem is solved after I change my homepage to google.com and set UA string to desktop.
First impression : love the water boot animation. Still loading the boot animation.
EDIT : Done booting and saw new signal and battery icon. Nice. Only, when word '3G' nicely placed beside the signal. Only word 'H' overlapping with the arrow signal.

May I know what you mean by 'SD card permissions are fixed'? Do you mean SD card is internal or the microSD card? Because I cannot delete any files inside microSD card except after changing the right using MicroSD Mounter.
Works fine so far.
When opening Music and switching to Genre or Interprets the Music App FC's.
It will do that until Force Stop and Clear Data from within the settings.

[ROM] [AOSP 5.1.1] Lollipopalooza | manta/Nexus 10 | LMY48M | 2015/09/18

This is my very own personally maintained custom ROM for the Nexus 10 (manta) called Lollipopalooza!! It is an AOSP (Android Open Source Project) 5.x based ROM with a simple aim... add a few useful features to AOSP without deviating too much.

This will be a spin-off of my previous Nexus 10 ROM ThunderKat, but from scratch and obviously based on Android 5.x.
I don't expect this to compete with the big boys (CyanogenMod, AOKP, Paranoid Android and the like) and this ROM will have a considerably limited feature-set compared to them. If you want a lot of customisations and configurations, they are definitely the way to go.
Please note that since this is a fully de-odexed ROM, it will take a while to boot up the first time. Please follow the installation instructions carefully.
IMPORTANT: Since I no longer own this device, I have not tested this. In my opinion it should work just fine since I am using the same code-base for my Nexus 9 builds, but if you are not sure, wait for feedback from others who are brave enough to take the plunge.
Due to my limited availability, I will now no longer support builds older than 2015/05/23

ive been lookin everywhere for some gapps that work with this device haha, thanks!
Great to see you in here Craig! Loved the Roms you did for the transformer. Guess its time to go install a custom recovery and try this out!
I am rooted and my bootloader is unlocked. I made a mistake and formatted my system img. Is it possible to flash this via adb?
Any word on getting OTG/CIFS working?
Also, the "DRM Libraries" .. these, I assume - allow things like Play Movies and Hulu Plus to work? I'm actually interested in TRADING OFF those features with the ability to get HDMI out without protection on the signal. Thoughts on that?
Thanks for the hard work already!

Reboot into TWRP recovery, use adb to push it to /sdcard and flash it... it will work even if your system partition is formatted!

The DRM libs are for Hulu & apps which use the Widevine DRM... Are you referring to HDCP? I'm not sure if this affects that... I haven't done any much HDMI related stuff with Android yet, but I'll check it out...
I will work on OTG and CIFS soon!!

Yeah, essentially, I want to be able to RECORD the output of the tablet with an HD capture system via HDMI. Completely legal reasons (which is why I don't care if any movies or TV work). But, unfortunately, the HDMI out (no matter WHAT) seems to be encrypted with HDCP.
I had it working on my TF101 - I had to use a little software trick on the PC, but it worked. Not anymore
Thanks, flashed and running fine... forgot to wipe data the first time and wouldn't boot

I've tested everything except the DRM stuff... I don't use any DRM apps so I'm not sure... maybe someone who uses an app like Hulu Plus can let me know!
Wow...just finished installing...very nice. Absolutely love the aosp browser, beats the living crap outta chrome. Got the old news app and widget back too!
Just got my Nexus 10 yesterday and this is my first flash. Working well. Thanks!
I have preliminary OTG support done... need to fix permissions and get it to show up in Setting -> Storage
How do I enable the settings pull down? I liked that feature a lot. Being able to have notifications on left and settings on right.

Is there any way to go back to the old tablet style interface? Not digging the phone style with bars on the top and bottom of the screen.
Added custom kernel with a few extra goodies... see OP for details!!!

Installation
Requirements: Your device must be unlocked via htcdev.com. There are many guides for this
0)
Make sure your USB drivers are up to date and working. See bottom of this post.
1)
First things first:
Backup your programs/data.
Use your existing recovery to backup your current ROM/Data.
2)
For KitKat you need a new Recovery with SELinux support
Download Thömys CWM6047 or Philz v.6.xx.x-endeavoru or TWRP 2.8.X.X to your PC
Note: You must unzip the image first if you choose Philz. Thomys and mine are ready to flash.
3)
Copy the ROM and gapps to your HOX
Unzip boot.img from the ROM to your PC
4)
Boot to bootloader. Use power button or "adb reboot bootloader"
Flash the new recovery and the boot.img from the ROM.zip
Code:
$ fastboot flash recovery slim-twrp-recovery.img
$ fastboot flash boot boot.img
$ fastboot erase cache
6)
Reboot to recovery.
Clear/wipe data. (You can skip this step if you flash over Slim 3.X)
Flash ROM
Flash gapps (flashing ROM will wipe the system)
Reboot
Please report any issues you find.
Some USB errors in Windows can be solved this way:
Small guide for solving problem with usb not working in Windows.
I never have usb problems with my Linux. It just works. Always.
But at work, my Windows7 like to change settings as it think is best for me. I guess it just don't know me well enough. Here is what I do when Windows get confused and forget what I want.
First make sure you have the latest drivers from Google and HTC.
Install latest drivers from HTC for your PC. http://www.htc.com
Next, get your adb/fastboot drivers updated.
Locate "android.bat", mine is in C:\Android\android-sdk\tools, but yours will be wherever you initially installed your adb drivers.
Run the file and install any suggested updates.
Windows device manager (run devmgmt.msc from start menu or a command window).
Connect your phone and check where it get attached. For a working connection, it should say "Android USB Devices" -> "My HTC", but since you read this, chances are, that your device is in "Other Devices" -> "Android Phone".
That is what this guide will correct.
1. Wrong driver - double click "Android Phone"
2. Update Driver
3. Browse (for your HTC driver, which is already installed)
4. Pick the driver yourself
5. Select "Android USB Devices" -> Next
6. Select "My HTC" -> Next
7. Choose Yes - You know you want the HTC driver
8. Ahhh, success - test your adb/fastboot/MTP/UMS
9. Here is what happened. We make Windows choose the correct driver and Windows will place it under Android USB Devices.

Congratz to your new thread! And to a really nice nice rom.
Running it now a couple of hours...and it is as nice as before without the "bugs" it had.
Really BIG Thanks!
No echo bug for me
But WiFi Hotspot unfortunately confirmed not working.
Hey thanks for the rom will try it and add to the OP what this ROM is about and maybe what's the difference between CM and SLIM

Lol no, the echo is not for you - it's for the other part
I had one complain - not sure how reliable though.
Yay! Finally the good cookie has been served.
Downloading.....
Is the "signal drop" bug ironed out?
I didn't have any major complain except that
on past betas.
Will report how it works t'morrow.
Thanks!
Thanks teemo. Good to have slim for hox.

"Signal drop" should be gone now. But let's give it some time and see.
Actually it was not a signal drop. It was simply the Phone App getting killed. When restarted, it would ask for PIN as it should, which was very annoying.
Impression of first few hours :good:
Initially due to low dpi, I had to use a microscope(almost),
but increased it to 320 everything looks revealing and beautiful.
Everything is working perfectly. ROM is totally smooth and snappy.
A number of annoyances has been reduced/removed.
Battery life(seems to be stable but will decide later).
Upd(04-02-14): The memory leak bug suddenly appeared.
After reboot I tried to turn on bluetooth without turning on wifi
and bluetooth share has stopped error came so I didn't take kmsg.
Bluetooth working fine.
Upd(30-01-14): Battery life seems to be pretty awesome here.
Screen-on time doesn't drain much. And BT is finally working properly.
Greatly relieved that memory leak bug is fixed(hopefully) since the
rom didn't go zero to crap in few hours, unlike other KitKats.
Things to improve(top-medium priority for me)
- Enable 3-dot menu by default since H/W recent is set to recent apps
(I know I can change recent to menu but 3-dot is convenient)
- Vibration strength should be reduced, currently its causing mini-earthquakes in my room
(Don't know if any option is hidden somewhere, will look for it)
Wishlist(low priority for me) :fingers-crossed:
- Working Wi-Fi tether
- Working Wi-Fi direct(assuming same as CM)
- Theme chooser
Note: My priority is not equal to developer's priority, just expressing my opinion. No pressure, no demands.
Thanks for the great rom. Looking forward to more developments
Great I will give it a try tomorrow ! Thank you teemo...
Extremely good work, keep up this great update. Is the most battery friendly rom i have tried after sense. Thanks for keeping the support to hox

Doesn't seem to be normal. I don't have it.
I can go through the menu open app etc without sound problems.
Have you made a full wipe?
Installed a sound mod like v4a?

Sure I know that.
It's just after I installed it over 27th build, right after you send me the link I thought I didn't have it (or the other part , I checked myself because I also looked about the phone app crash issue)
But now after full wipe I do have it also unfortunately.
Also tried with xm#16 but still present.
Nevertheless great rom again.

Haven't tested v4a yet but will do soon...

Or of you cannot install drivers because of Super user try a different app.

SlimKAT Standard + Extreme Power Packs for TF300T released !
SlimKAT Power Packs
I've re-packaged original SlimKAT Power Pack init.d scripts (Browser2RAM, FSync disabling & ZipAlign) into two flashable .zip files to boost system performance of SlimKAT In addition to them there are all ASUS live wallpapers coming from latest ASUS ROM for TF300T (DayScene + MyWater 1 & 2), AdBlock is included and when flashing these packs, filesystem of your device is automatically tuned (see details below )
-> Standard Power Pack for TF300T : contains AdBlock and Browser2RAM + ZipAlign scripts while ext4 filesystem tuning sets data journaling ON for /data but tunes /system and /cache too :good:
-> Extreme Power Pack for TF300T : contains AdBlock and Browser2RAM + ZipAlign scripts too and in addition it turns FSync OFF (WARNING : this one can cause data corruption...) while ext4 filesystem tuning sets data journaling OFF for /data (combined with FSync OFF; which means that this pack is mainly intended for benchmarking sessions purposes !), it tunes /system and /cache too :highfive: It features GPU Tweaks : GPU 2D is forced AND software rendering is disabled !
The main purpose of the first pack is to safely improve the user experience on your device while raising improper system shutdown tolerance...
...the main purpose of the second one is to max out system performance regardless to system stability !
PREREQUISITE : Please perform a full NANDROID backup from recovery before flashing it !
DISCLAIMER : I will never ever be responsible for any damages you do to your device !
ALL CREDIT GOES TO AND ONLY TO :
-> @hardslog (this pack is based on his one... thank you !)
-> @sbdags & @lj50036 from CROMBi-kk TEAM (FSync init.d script is coming from CROMBi-kk installer )
-> me
INSTALLATION : Just flash it AFTER a full NANDROID backup, then just wipe cache/dalvik and reboot to system... You can use it with any kernel : embedded CM / GEASS / GRIMLOCK !
DOWNLOADS :
-> SlimKAT Standard Power Pack for TF300T (without ASUS live wallpapers ) (2014-03-25) | MD5
-> SlimKAT Extreme Power Pack for TF300T (without ASUS live wallpapers ) (2014-03-25) | MD5
With Extreme Power pack installed, you can expect benchmarks scores like this :good: (needs to be updated...)
-> Legacy Power Pack on SlimKAT for TF300T RC1 Build 3.9 | GL v2.2RC3 (1800/520 with dynamic FSync disabled) + ART turned on :highfive:
Have fun with it...
NOTE : These two packs are TF201 compatible ! :good:
EDIT : ALL ASUS live wallpapers were not installing correctly so i removed them from the pack until i fix this

I don't have the dock so that doesn't bother me at all. Smoothest 4.4.2 ROM for me so far. Thank you!!
Well I got it installed which without any problems. Still setting it up but so far I really like it but so far I have found two issues(one which has been reported) 1. Autorotation not working 2. Ext SD card is not recognized. Is there a fix or something I can do for the SD card? It is in ex-fat format. Autorotation is not really that big of an issue but other than those two things I am liking it.

Thank you for reporting back :good: I'll update the know bugs list by adding explicitely the one about the dock SD card which cannot be fixed on your side because i've disabled its support in order to build the ROM (there was a fatal build error about it and i'm working on it to fix it up... )
I'm currently working hard on :
-> dock support in a global way because since KitKat and from a few time 'asusdec' has been replaced by 'healthd' in CM tree : it was not working properly because of an incompatibilty of it with KitKat (It was ok until latest JellyBean release). This is a huge development move so i have to say it is difficult to implement it when porting a ROM like i do by using CM tree; 'heathd' is a new daemon for KitKat that manage battery status for example and 'the move' may be implied when considering the partial dock keyboard support in my port... dock SD card will be fixed up soon i believe...
-> autorotation because at this time i have not a clue why it is not working ... it should but it does not and i believe this feature is really appreciated by users when undocking their device, isn't it
I think that i will release ROM updates on a 2 weeks schedule basis for the moment and i would like to say that any constructive idea on how to deal correctly with all kind of confirmed bugs in my port will always be greatly appreciated
Kind regards

It is strange because microSD card is working for me (32 GB fat32), so correct me if i'm wrong but you are using a microSD larger than mine, and with a different filesystem than mine too... anyway, YES you can fix it on your side => i saw that you're using exFAT so you need a custom kernel that supports it... i don't know if there is any for our device (AOSP). You might be interested in reading THIS perhaps...

Here is the changelog :
-> auto rotation : fixed ! :victory: auto rotates display when undocked and do not when docked :good:

(dock slot one... microSD tablet slot was already ok => exfat support added !). Dock battery status display still missing...
-> removed embedded superuser as it was not properly building => Beta 2 does not ship with any superuser app, you'll have to flash one from recovery (BTW i'll update my TWRP build now built along with SlimKAT sources...)

NOTE : Special thanks to every early beta tester
EDIT : Oops if forgot to mention that Beta 2 kernel has NFS / CIFS support embedded into it (no modules) but you might prefer to try another AOSP custom kernel like @hardslog GRIMKERN's one or @ebildude123 GEASS's one...

So I after flashing I downloaded SuperSU and flashed it. I still don't have root access. What gives? It was working before I flashed everything over.

KatKiss ROM
Lollipop 5.1.1 Release 24Asus TF300T
Please note that this version is made for and tested on the TF300T model.

Tips
First Install
Make sure you do a full wipe the first time you install the rom
If you get error code 9XX when installing an app in the PlayStore, make sure that you format /data
(wipe doesn't format)
The first boot after a rom flash is slower than with 4.4.4 and can take a few minutes as ART is slower than dalvik to optimize the applications, but is faster after the 1st time.
(First boot takes ~2-3 minutes without gapps and 5+ minutes with gapps)
Also keep in mind that after a fresh install, it might take a bit of time to get up to full speed as media scanner & google are checking/scanning and restoring stuff.
Hardware keyboard layouts
More languages have been added in the default asusec keyboard
Set the keyboard layout through Settings => Language & Input => asusec => setup keyboard layouts
These also allow live switching without reboot with ctrl + space
Global Key Override/Shorcut Mecanism
Available in Settings => Dock => Add Key Override Actions
GPS:
if it is taking a long time to get a lock or no lock, follow this:
Install the latest K.A.T app
Then follow precisely this procedure:
1) Location Settings
- Go to Settings => Location => turn OFF (top right switch)
- Turn it back ON
- Make sure you agree to let google access the location.
- Make sure the current selected mode is High accuracy
2) Launch the new K.A.T app
- make sure you grant it root access
- make sure you have internet access
- go to the install menu, Check the "Install GPS quicker fix + Assistance
- Click the Install button
- Make sure it says "Install Finished"
3) Reboot
4) Wait that it has finished booting and launching all the stuff you have starting at boot
5) Start your GPS app outside with a clear sky line, to speed things up stay in range of the wifi / internet connection.
Do not let the gps app loose focus when it is trying to get a fix.
Do not let your tablet sleep / turn off the screen either.
Doing that here, the first time and with a cold gps start, and even staying in my house,
I get a 6 sat fix within 30 seconds and 11 sat fix in 1min 15seconds.
From there subsequent fixes takes about 3 seconds to grab 7 sats and about 10 seconds to reach the 10-11 sat fix
(you still want to let it sit outside for a bit after the 1st fix, so that the ephemeris data gets consolidated and updated to help faster fix later on)
Flash & HTML5 Video
Flash is not supported by default on Lollipop, you can still use it with Dolphin Dolphin Browser:
Install Dolphin Browser, install or activate Dolphin JetPack in settings, install the latest flash plugin.
Sites are migrating slowly to HTML5 video use the default browser & other webkit based browsers for HTML5 video support
Storage (fstrim) and Database optimization:
Fstrim is native since 4.3 and will happen in the background if your tablet is idle / sleeping and that your battery is > 70%
There is also a script to run it manually in the rom: /etc/kat/optimizestorage
To optimize the Database: /etc/kat/optimizedb
To run both, open a terminal and run:
su
/etc/kat/optimize
MultiWindow
Multiwindow allows you to split the screen in 2 vertically (while in landscape) or horizontally, you can switch an app back and forth between multiwindow mode and regular mode while it's running.
MultiWindow
NavBar:
- To switch between full screen and split View you can use the
NavBar Button
(It will lay apps alternatively in one SplitView spot then the other.)
- To change focus simply Tap on the app or use the
NavBar Button
That button can also be used in non multiwindow mode to switch quickly between the 2 most recent apps.
Global Actions
Actions to switch the app between fullscreen / splitview, switch between the 2 most recent apps and to force the splitview slot have been added
so you can bind them to a key / key combination with the Global KeyOverride or long press on navbar button too.
Note: Most apps works ok in splitview mode, but some of them might not refresh correctly sometime.
Same when rotating the screen while in splitview mode.
To force a refresh simply tap the app or if you have 2 apps in split, just click twice on the switch to last app button:
to force it to relayout

Awesome, thanks for the info
just tested it and that beta version of Titanium works well on Lollipop
Second post updated.
Apart from tts occasionally crashing it works like a charme so far.
Root works flawless, the ROM is fast
Impressive work!
Well auto-rotation seems not to work

Yep for TTS see post #2,
just uninstall it, same for google search if you're using google launcher.
I'll make a minimal KatKiss gapps package later on.
But yeah it's quite nice and fast already, and it's only the early stages, high optimization flags & tweaks are not yet in,
So quite a nice change for our old TF300T and more improvements ahead
Working perfect ... Thx

I have got an issue which I had with KitKass 4.4.4 as well.
When I tunr the screen off and don't touch the tablet for a couple of hours (sometimes less than an hour) it seems to turn off.
Pressing the Power Button does not turn the screen on but instead boots the tablet up.
So for some reason it turns itself off after some time.
I have used CM11 for 2 days now and the issue has not appeared. Only that sometimes it took a couple of seconds until the screen turned on.
Since I have not read about anybody else reporting such a thing I'm wondering what I'm doing wrong or what could cause this.
Would you have any idea about it? I'd really like to fix this. After all your ROMs have amazing features like the Multi-Window (though of course not yet this ROM but I'm sure it'll come ) Thx in advance
This time even after less than 30 minutes :|

nice work, i'm having occasional media provider fcs (when using gallery) and cam(or alternate playstore cam) doesn't work, but damn good for a beta
Pretty surprised to see it this fast, good stuff as always
We don't make mistakes, we just have happy accidents.
Didn't work got bootloop

Did you wait long enough ? As mentionned in post #2 the first boot is quite long because of ART that will take longer to optimize the apps.
Also what do you call bootloop, and which recovery did you use ?
Did you follow the flashing procedure step by step , ie most importantly: did you do a full wipe before flashing ?
check the downloaded file md5 too.
Since a few installed it fine before you, I'd say that your issue is one of the above.

Did you give it a good long time? I thought the same thing as it took well over 5 minutes to boot the first time.

After reinstalling all my apps, I'd say it's off to a good start. The only issues I found so far are the TTS of course, and the camera crashes a few seconds after opening. Otherwise pretty smooth running with Nova.
The link for the gapps sens me to a page to download a file named exactly the same as the rom itself. is this correct?
Is there some special way to add widgets? Every time I try, the system settings just open.

works fine for me with the default launcher.
Might be a nova specific issue.

I was just about to report that after a reboot (actually a random reboot), widgets worked fine.
This is pretty damn awesome! Thank you!
2 things, are you working on getting bluetooth, camera and whatever else was broken? im assuming its kernel related, maybe?
Also is anyone else having problems with auto rotate?
