Tempered glass screen protectors... - T-Mobile LG G3

These are way better than the plastic crap that is dominant.
I've bought a couple of these. They are $8.95 on Amazon Prime:
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00KGSW734/
I've also had one on my HTC One m8. Works awesome, and the feel... feels like glass.

From the pictures I think that must be Billy Mays hawking the things...

Hahaha! Yeah... They have to pitch these things some how (RIP Billy Mays)
But really, these protectors are the way to go. I will never use a plastic screen protector again.

Naah, I like my wet-applied TPU protectors, they never ever ever get dust stuck between it and the screen.

So I just got one. Hope this fits with otter box

the trick to installing these glass protectors is this:
turn your shower on to its hottest water setting; close the door.
go back in 10 minutes.
install the screen protector in your bathroom, with the door closed.
sounds nutty, but the condensation in the air attaches to any particulate matter in the air, and sticks it to the walls, or the floor;
not your screen :good:

That's about 10 times the size of my bathroom (which partially explains why I think it's nutty to be messing with a phone in there).
Then again, I actually did have access to a dust-free clean room about 10 years ago, when I was working for IBM.
Maybe what's needed is a small dust-free chamber to do these things. We could make a fortune selling them.

take it with you;
the plan is to remove materials in the air by adding condensation to weigh them down, not to 'hydrate' your phones screen; it probably wouldn't hurt; but i wouldn't do it as the condensation that accumulates on the screen is going to have to evaporate some time, and i dont want to know what the effects of that are after ive installed the s/p

I work at clean room and I usually install my screen protector under a chemical hood along with some gloves... Perfect install every time

I had to make a conscious decision and remove my screen Protectors. I tried a few and even some privacy screen Protectors. but most if not all of them desensitized the touch screen about 20% percent of the time. Plus, I love the gorgeous screen and vibrant colors hehe.

bought the zagg one from bestbuy, doesn't even come close to fitting the screen. short on one side and at the top and bottom when applied, if not for the box i would swear this was not made for this device!, that is how off the sizing is, application on the other hand was not only easy but bubble and dust free.

Zagg protectors aren't the best. I had one put on at a best buy by an employee a fam member's S3 last year and she had to go through 4 boxes to find one that fit correctly. Lol, $60 of protectors down the drain for Best Buy!

Just got the one from Amazon but can't be used with otter box. Even if I remove the otter box screen protector it is still to thick. It a nice screen protector tho. Fits exactly perfect

ZAGG Invisible Shield (mini-review)

Just thought I would share. I picked up a ZAGG Invisible Shield for the Galaxy Nexus today at BestBuy. As usual, its top notch. Very well cut. Reaches to all edges, not too hard to install (mind you, I have a lot of experience with them, and have gotten pretty good lol)
(sorry its stupidly hard to take pictures.. and uhh I used my Nexus One to take them lol) BUT just as the pictures show.. it really is invisible and hard to notice.

The shield covers the FFC and sensors at the top right? Hmm. My invishield for my last phone was cut around those..
I hate ZAGG. They look good for about a week then they start collecting lint around the edges and it also stretches out of place.

I always found BSE to be much better and cheaper. the orange peel affect of the zagg bothers me. IMO power support has everyone beat, but they only make products for apple

+1 on the powerskin.
is there a "invisi skin" for the body?
i'm more interested in putting a invisible shield type protection for the body.
as for the front, i've used armorsuit and they have less orange peel effect.
without a suitable "powersupport" type i probably would just use the wet skin, but not for this phone. resolution and screen is too damn sexy.
How's the feel of it? I never liked the rubbery feeling of ZAGG protectors... made swiping motions on the screen a chore. Has it changed from their previous material or is it the same?
+1 for Best Skins Ever, their stuff is super cheap and works amazingly well with minimal orange peel and not as grippy as the Zagg. I've tried them all; Zagg, GhostArmor, Skinomi, SGP, but as far as the wet film install types, Best Skins Ever is definitely my favorite.

I concur, and the orange peel bothers me. Never using them again.
The cover itself is very good though for those who aren't OCD like me.
I like Zagg. I'd rather have a thick film that actually protects from cuts and scratches than a thinner one that looks nicer.
The only time the zagg shield are hard to use is the summer time when it's humid outside. Makes swiping hard.

Well, I finally installed ZAGG on my GN. The outline cut looks good, and was so easy to apply to. It does feel strong. It doesn't feel rubberish actually, and when you look at the reflection, its kinda looks slightly bumpy (though can't see any air bubbles). On screen, it kinda looks like there is a smear of water/oily look -- but then again, I only just put it on 10 minutes ago!
It does say that micro air bubbles will eventually come out over the next couple of days, so will see how it goes.
I love mine. Ordered mine on CyberMonday from Zagg along with my full body for my 2011 11'' MacBook Air. Due to issues with customs I received my shield prior to getting my phone so before I even booted the phone up it had its protector on. I put Zagg on all my devices that take it.

I had the Zagg on my Vibrant and i now have one on the Nexus. The one on the Vibrant had annoying orange peel but this one seems better. Im good at installing them though. One thing that really annoys me now though is they watermark the shield in the lower right corner with "ZAGG". But you are right about power support. Thats all i buy for my wifes iphones. She hates the Zagg anyway LOL.
This is a strange question, but do you still have the packaging for the screen? I wanna know what the UPC number is so I can see if any local stores around me have this bad boy

make sure you take out the battery and DON"T put it back in after as the phone will reboot.
just install and wait over night with cool air blowing over it.

The solution they have dries really quickly, they added some substance it in, so even if the tiniest bit gets in there, you shouldn't worry too much, unless you spill the whole bottle in there lol
EDIT: this is speaking from the person who DRENCHED the screen protector before applying lol

Does it go right to the edges of the screen?
I got one ordered this weekend hopefully arriving soon.
How difficult was the application? I'm not too keen on wet application (Zagg, ugh) but is it pretty much drench, lay it on the screen and shift to center ASAP? Past experience with Zaggs, I've usually had to lay it perfectly on the first try since I wouldn't be able to shift it around afterwards.
FYI, "byublue", as mentioned earlier, takes $3 off, which is slightly better than 20%.

I'm assuming all wet applications should be the same, which means that your experience with zagg will be similar with xo.
You wouldn't be able to shift it around after its applied. However, you can peel it upwards, apply some more liquid, then place it back down
Did that with my skinomi, had no problem with it, should work with all wet screen protectors
Got mine today and applied it tonight. It was my first wet application, and it was WAY easier than the (dry-apply) SGP Crystal I had on my Dinc.
It goes very close to the edge of the screen.
No orange peel
No rainbow effect
As I said before... highly recommended

So I've never done a wet install. Basically I get as much of the liquid out as possible and then wait overnight for it to settle?
I don't think people realize that, sure even though your device isn't damaged from the liquid solution that may or may have leaked into the phone. BUT it probably set off the water damage sticker inside voiding your warranty.
That's the biggest fear for most people including myself.

Screen protector

I bought 5pcs for about $3 off of ebay which is a great deal but it looks like they were cut wrong because it doesnt line up great.
Here is the link:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/29064751891...NX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649#ht_1898wt_897
I really dont want to pay $18 for a single one, like Steinheil.
My question is, have any of you bought cheap ones that lines up perfect with the phone and corners?
As with many things you get what you pay for.
I have the Skinomi which one of the early ones available and its been ok:
http://www.skinomi.com/
The more I use them the more I recommend the wet apply one as they seem to have less bubble and last longer. For people who are worried just go to best buy or a mall stand and have someone who installs them all day install it.
Most of the newer screen protectors don't line up directly to the edge if thats what your referring to. They save space on the edges so that it doesn't peel off as easy and a lot of new cases cover the edges to. Plus they save money by using less material. I have the ones from verizon and they dont go edge to edge. I even believe that the new Zagg's are being cut the same way.

No I am definitely not looking for a perfect fit but the ones I bought does not line up straight, from top corner to bottom corner. I can buy verizon protectors $9 for 3pcs. So, if they dont line up crooked I am fine.
i bought this http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-Galax...BX5A/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1324879125&sr=8-6
i think it's worth it since i started using that brand since my first android, 2 yrs ago. it's really tough and durability is super good.
The reason why the nexus doesn't have a dry install that doesn't extend to the edge because our screens are slightly curved so they will create bubbles at the top and bottom of the screen. The wet screens protector will fit better because they are more bendable
I use a brand called terrapin on my GN. They're cheap on eBay but they're made from very hard plastic. They go right to the edges of the screen and fit really well with cut outs in the right place for the speaker, camera and various sensors.
The quality of these protectors is brilliant, no affect on screen quality at all and there's no rainbow effect or orange peel. There's a few light scratches I can see on the screen protector when bright lights are shone on the unlit screen but as soon as you wake the screen up you can't see them at all.

I would still use a screen protector dust/sand/dirt can get on your fingers and still scratch it plus anything gets in the case and the cover may scratch it. I am super paranoid about scratches though so it may be just me.
There's a bunch of discussion in the Accessories forum on which screen protector is the best. I vote for Verizon "clear" one.

In their videos the take a dremel to one and it stops the bit. No way the cheap plastic ones would.
Orange peel is my biggest problem with expensive ones such as invisible shield.

One of those will last the life-time of the phone.

cheap ebay screen protectors I found and purchased

Last week I found some screen protectors on ebay for the nexus that I thought I'd give a try. The deal was 10 for 6 dollars which is a pretty sweet deal I figured even if the plastic was somewhat cheap.
Well they came today, and I didnt apply any yet but they had the double sided stickers (like how SGP does their skins) and so I peeled back the front sticker and felt the plastic and it felt pretty thick, much like the the quality of SGP. Also, I noticed that they have an actual cut out around the camera which I thought was nice since it could be used as another reference point when applying the skin. And, on top of that the screen goes the whole side of the screen with no lip on the sides.
Here is the link if anybody is interested, I should be applying it later and supplying pics of it once I do.

No bubbles from it reaching the edge of the screen? I don't think I've heard of a dry application screen protector that actually reaches the edges of the screen without bubbling up or peeling near the edge do the curvature of the screen...
So after applying the skin this was how it turned out

and
I see what you mean by the peeling cause of the curvature and the shorter screens would pretty much stop where the peeling is actually happening lol, but I still like that is at the ends only to be honest, but it doesnt bother me so much. The pics make the peeling look a lot worse than it actually is I think.

Is the difference that bad? I really want an antiglare film for the Nexus... I actually really like matte screen protectors, especially after putting on so many matte power support protectors on iPhones.
I'm currently staring at my MB Air that has a glossy display with an antiglare matte screen protector I had put on perfectly
I just realized this is a super old thread but I'll post anyway.
(assuming you still use these screen protectors), does the matte one affect the colour at all? I used to have one on my Atrix, and it kind of dulled the colours and made whites a little rainbowy. But maybe I just chose the wrong manufacturer of $1 Hong Kong matte screen protectors
Yes it does, I had a Matte one, and within a minute, took it off. It looks absolutely terrible, worse than having an orange peel effect from wet apply screen protectors.

Looks like this protector comes up easily... I had a Skinomi (similar to Zagg) on my GNex. Only had 2 spot where my Driztronic case rubbed the protector causing it to come up. I'd love to keep the phone naked, but too worried if I ever dropped it on say... concrete.
I bought 3 clear protectors from the seller called wireless_toy_world and this is how it looks like under florescent light:
The top doesnt stick well and it is short at the bottom. I will try another seller and report back.
Let me know if you find a cheap and good one..
Why does everyones cheap screen protectors look awful... :S Mine doesn't have any of those strange bubbles apart from the lower left part where its too far to the right of the screen. Look

Is it a pack of 10 protectors? Or is the name 10x?
I use ZAGG invisible shield. I don't recommend using cheap screen protectors as they spoil the screen and leave marks if removed

Its a pack of 10 yes.
Some cheap ones do leave crap on the screen when removed, but I haven't had that happen to me at all when I removed the last one But always good to bear that in mind

Thanks for the link and based on your recommendation, I ordered some. Came to like 5 dollars shipped to the states which isn't bad at all.

What? No, they don't. The cheap protectors (Usually dry applications) don't have any liquid or residue to use thus no ruining the screen. It's akin to static cling for some of these cheap protectors.
thanks for sharing,looks good

Where did you buy this case?
As i have now tried 3 different screen protectors i can say this:
ZAGG/KINGFISH: both sold by car phone warehouse are no good.
Zagg is a flimsy piece of skin which once fitted is not even smooth. Your finger will not slide on the screen and it makes the view on the screen quite poor as well.
Kingfish is a Matt type screen. Its smooth but also covers the front camera and goes beyond the beveled edge of the phone making it easy to collect dust. Viewing is not very good and i suspect covering the sensors won't do any good either
Positive: Protex
Sold by phones4u and online. Cheap when compared with the above and easy to fit. (I always use droplets of water to fit as it eliminates dirt and little dust fibres to the minimum)
Easy to slide the finger on, does not cover the sensors or cameras.
Rock screen protector: similar to protex, a bit wider and same quality. Highly recommended to the point that i have cancelled the original protectors that Samsung will bring out later in the month.
Overall if you want something that will be good and not disrupt the feel and view, the 2 above ones are ideal. I'm sure there will be other more or less expensive but i won't be testing any new ones.

Are Protex and Rock wet or dry protectors? Do they stretch to the edges of the phone? Or are the edges exposed?
The eyes are slightly exposed about 2mm.
They are not soft protectors and that makes them very good. No glare or other issues. Zagg is a soft one and the most problematic one.
When you say wet or dry i suspect you mean needing to use spray water to apply. Both rock and protex do not need water to apply but using it makes it much easier to apply

Actually one of my customers from work brought it to me... ill ask hime if he can bring me some later next week

Man, those things introduce so much noise to the display, I wish they could improve that.

Wet application screen protectors
I originally got a dry application screen protector (the ones with the sticky stuff) as an interim measure. After a few days it did start peeling up slightly on the edges as the screen is curved on the edges. I then ordered an XtremeGuard protector (http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/23080181...X:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649#ht_3744wt_1396) which is a wet application one. It has been sooooo good. Since it is wet application it is alot more flexible and can hence handle the curved edges. Also the XtremeGuard protectors don't suffer from the 'lemon-peel' effect of other wet application screen protectors.
Not saying anything bad against other screen protectors, more just sharing my experience with some screen protectors.
Gear4 Case vs. Case-mate
Hi,
Your Gear4 case looks very nice and pricing is reasonable.
Do you have any experience with the Case-mate barely there cases and how it compares to your Gear4 case?
Thanks
