In an effort to learn how to correctly use Aroma, I decided to write a tool that will assist you in removing the suffocating amount of bloatware my beloved Note 3 is cursed with. It is nothing more than an Aroma script which will let you select what apps to remove, and then it removes them.
FEATURES
Removes 200+ apps considered to be bloatware.
Works with all variants of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 (SM-N900T, SM-N9005, etc.)
Can apply the screen rotation fix, if you uninstall Samsung Hub.
Clear Dalvik cache.
...And more!
REQUIREMENTS
Samsung Galaxy Note 3 (duh?!?!)
Root
TWRP, CWM, or PhilZ Custom CWM installed.
A burning desire to strike down bloatware with the force of a thousand suns! Optional, but highly recommended!
NOTES
I strongly recommend you do a full backup before using this script.
After removing bloatware, clearing Dalvik cache would be a good idea, so they can be rebuilt at boot.
My device is a SM-N900T (T-Mobile SGN3), so obviously I can't determine what other apps another carrier has added. If you would like to list their names and filenames (including path), along with the carrier and I'd be happy to add them to the list. I have downloaded stock images from all of the different variants of the SGN3 and will determine what other apps are installed.
If I missed any apps that you would consider bloatware please let me know, and I'll add them as well!

Locked bootloader, yes...
But (in the context of verizon) "retail" here contrasts with the "developers edition" that was made in limited quantities and sold straight from Samsung unsubsidized. The dev edition does NOT have a locked bl and can therefore install custom recoveries like those mentioned here. (TWRP, CWM, etc) I believe the T-Mobile version had an unlocked bl ... but this is a verizon thread.
You'd know if you have the dev edition. Otherwise, you have a "retail" version.

If this mod is a .zip why can it not be flashed in safestrap recovery for locked retail devices? Bear in mind I own a dev edition and have never used safestrap.

Because it uses aroma installer to work. Safestrap currently does not support aroma for our device. Aroma basically allows for a customized install during flashing.

i do not know all the reasons but i know that Aroma does not work with SS on any of my devices that have had to use it. my limited tech knowledge i would say that SS is more of a recovery "bypass" versus an unlocked bootloader full recovery. so you can flash replacement items for apps etc.. but Aroma is more than that just a flash of this or that

Debloating

Would those of you who have already deleted all the Samsung sh** mind sharing what all you've deleted with no ill affects? I would love to be able to eliminate everything I didn't choose to install. And are you guys are just freezing or deleting?
Thanks y'all!
I would also like to know this. If we could get a professional who knows what they're doing to direct us? There must be a million threads on freezing apps, but they're all for different devices it seems. I've frozen some stuff but it hasn't appeared to do much and there's so many apps.
System App Remover (root) is excellent for this.
This is excellent free app for debloating. It tells you what can be safely removed and what should be left alone and allows for batch uninstall.

Thanks for replying and the app recommendation, but looking at it, I can see that it's not exactly what I'm looking for. It says Knox is a key system resource so it's basically listening to how samsung flagged its apps "You gotta keep this! You just gotta!". A user made list would be awesome, even if it was just from a very similar tablet. I can't seem to find anything recent and therefore relevant.

Agreed. Yeah, I was hoping one of the people who said they had debloated their tab s would chime in with exactly what they deleted.
List of Disabled Apps
Screw it. I'm gonna post everything I've frozen with no ill effects (so far). I will update when and if the "ah hah!" or "Oh ****, please god no!" moments occur.

*UPDATE 00:03 7/6/2014
Froze the following with no repercussions (yet):
Active applications 1.0.0 (It's important you freeze the one with 2 zeros, as the other will cause the Task Manager to fail. The one you freeze had a green circle with a 3 for an icon)
Bubbles 1.0 (Bubbles? We don't need bubbles...yet...)
com.android.providers.partnerbookmarks 4.4.2-T700XXU1ANF7
com.sec.android.app.wfdbroker 1.0.0 (Think this has to do with WiFi Direct. Again if you use anything in this list, then DON'T freeze it.)

DSMLawmo 4.4.2-T700XXU1ANF7 (Spen functionality?)
Help 1.0 (Everyone should know when they need this)
HTML Viewer 4.4.2-T700XXU1ANF7

MobilePrintSvc_CUPS_Backend 20130513
Print Spooler 1
ringtonebackup 4.4.2-T700XXU1ANF7
WFDS Print Service Plugin 1.0.1
That's it for now, let me know if a catastrophic failure occurs on your end.*
*UPDATE 11:25 7/7/2014
Froze the following:
Adapt sound 1.0 (From what I understand, this adapts the sound profile to your environment. but I havent found an actual app to use for it, so I disabled it.)
Basic Daydreams 4.4.2-T700XXU1ANF7 (Do you let your tablet daydream? Yes? Then don't turn this off I guess. I work my tablet to the bone and don't tolerate daydreaming)
Camera Test 1.0
com.android.sharedstoragebackup 4.4.2-T700XXU1ANF7 (No idea what this does)
com.samsung.adround.app.watchmanagerstub 14.04.14 (Has to do with Galaxy Gear?)
com.samsung.android.sdk.spenv10 3.0.101 (Looks like an app for the S pen, which none of us have...)
com.sec.android.app.FlashBarService 1.0 (READ THIS!!! Disabling this app will net you HUGE performance benefits. However, you will lose split screen functionality. I think these tablets are too small for split screen, but you might use it. Do as you will.)
com.sec.android.app.minimode.res 4.4.2-T700XXU1ANF7 (???)
ELM Agent 14132
Enterprise Sim Pin Service 4.4.2-T700XXU1ANF7
Enterprise VPN Services 1.3 (Don't disable if you use VPN?)
Exchange services 4.4.2.0100
Filter Installer 1.0 (From what I understand, The Filter applications are extraneous as Google Play now performs the same functions.)
Filter Manager 1.0
FilterProvider 1.0
PickupTutorial 4.4.2-T700XXU1ANF7
VpnDialogs 4.4.2-T700XXU1ANF7 (Might be important for VPN.)
Weather 140603.02 (Self explanatory.)
You stand to gain the most by disabling the FlashBarService and therefore losing split screen. Update me with any issues.*
*UPDATE 7/24/2014
This latest update brings with it an issue (maybe it was like that before this update? Just noticed it.) The stock regular internet browser has stopped working. I could give less than a flying f**k, but you might enjoy using in.
Froze the following:
Backup 3.6.2
com.android.backupconfirm 4.4.2-T700XXU1ANF7
Context Service 2.0.3 (Will cause the stock browser to FC)
DeviceTest 1.0
Gallery 4.4.2-T700XXU1ANF7 (This will cause controversy, but it was set to run all the time. I tried figuring out how to disable it from automatically running to no avail. I actually re-enabled Google+ to get the Photos app back, because it doesn't run constantly. Will look for a better alternative later.)
SmartcardManager 1.7
SmartcardService 3.1.0
Unified Daemon 140423.01 (Disables the location functionality of the stock Weather app)
Re-enabled:
Google+ 4.4.3.69327528 (See above for explanation.)
That's it for now. My tablet is really flying. Even the notification bar does not cause a stutter anymore, and chrome seems faster yet. Really starting to love this tablet *
EDIT 09/16/2015: Thanks to @stwum for confirming Context Service 2.0.3 is the cause of FC for the stock browser, and @stwum and @samisama both for the weather info on Unified Daemon 140423.01.
I can only personally confirm the settings for the KitKat version of the software (I no longer own this tablet), Anyone who has LP on theirs is welcome to take this list and give it an overhaul if they feel up to it. Thanks all.
Anything in this list that might not make sense to you, or if you use that app, then obviously don't freeze it. Let me know if you have anything to add or inform me of what I really should turn back on.

Awesome! I wonder, is there any functional difference between the frigid and deletement treatment?

Freezing removes them from active RAM the same way deleting does(so you get all performance and battery benefits) . Deleting will free up storage space as freezing does not. Only benefit is more storage space it would seem. A good reason though. However, don't delete anything til you're sure you don't need it.

It seems faster, but I don't think TouchWiz will ever be completely "smooth".
More RAM available, although not as much as I expected. Will have to keep at it.

Just be careful removing system apps if you plan to ever updates via ota. I know most won't care to but it is worth stating.

Good point. I am not going to remove anything so I can still get OTA updates if a rom doesn't come in the foreseeable future. I did just buy a 32 Gb card so I have more storage. I also removed the restrictions on it with SDfix, so I should be set for storage.

You can still update using Odin, no need for ota.
I updated the list a couple times. My tablet is feeling a lot smoother. Anyone else have anything to report?

What was your feeling about the performance of your S on a scale up to 10 before doing anything?
I ask because I have only made some changes in developer options which I enabled. Have not changed the browser or TZ interface and even before aforementioned adjustments I would give it 8.5 so not planning on doing anything else. I do my share on a tablet, I do not consider a power user by any stretch.

I do my share on a tablet, I do not consider a power user by any stretch.

I bought the Tab S for the screen. Plain and simple. Before it, I used the LG G Pad Google Play Edition, so my perspective largely comes from that. I loved the performance of the G pad, it was really really smooth, without hiccups. The screen was a nightmare though. It was very bland looking and would randomly dim itself because it overheated incredibly fast. On top of that there were bands on the left and right side that were distracting (light bleed). I loved it at first but The Tab S was just so much better looking I went for it. Everything the G pad had going for it was in the performance. I would rate that tab a 9.5 in performance, with the ever so rare stutter in chrome and the like.
The Tab S, stock, I would rate about a 7 on performance. Sure things move along, but it doesn't ever feel smooth. Chrome was a nightmare before I followed the suggestion in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...ing-choppy-t2800918/post53887711#post53887711
Even so, Chrome is still not as smooth as it was on my other tablet, and lag is still present. Once you've experienced a pure android environment, it's hard to go back. After disabling a bunch of stuff, particularly the FlashBarService, I would rate it about 8 - 8.5. It's still not silky smooth like my other tablet, but it's significantly better. Suffice to say the second a minimalistic ROM is released for this thing, I'm gonna be all over it. Samsung thinks it need all these special features to stand out, but most of the time they just slow their tablets down. Their hardware is good, but their software seems to forever be bloated and badly optimized.
Hi !

[TOOL/UTILITY][AROMA] SGN3 (SM-N900x) Bloat Removal Tool [VER2.0.1][2014-07-27]

Code:
#include <std_disclaimer.h>
/*
* Your warranty is now void.
*
* I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
* thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
* do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this kernel
* before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if
* you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.
*/

Nice work, thanks. That said, I use Titanium to freeze things first, to see if any problems crop up or if I unexpectedly miss something.
Apps on the bloat list that I like:
- RakeIn: used by one of the pop-up pen functions. Maybe the screen capture/edit.
- Voice Recorder: a nice app
- S Health: nicely done and useful
- Samsung keyboard: one of the best
- Samsung video: solid, use it a lot (have to keep "Video Player" as well)
- T-Mobile My Account: useful for me anyway, with 5 lines
- S Note: I use this a lot. What is the pen really otherwise good for?

The list I've compiled are the apps that I personally remove as being bloat. You can select which apps to remove before beginning the removal process. That way you only remove the apps you want.
Good to have tool. It definitely save time, comparing to manually doing it with TB.
Thx.
I was thinking of going back to TW (I'm using SlimKat right now) but I was dreading having to deal with all the bloat. You just made up my mind.
Now do I want to go with stock TW or a ROM... hmm...

That was the very reason I wrote this script. While I love Samsung's phones, they load them up with far too much bloat, so I figured I'd try to help out!
downloading now. lovely. will be trying on my s5 port also. does it have assert script?
"Can apply the screen rotation fix, if you uninstall Samsung Hub." I always wondered what's Samsung Hub has to do with screen rotation? Good job.

it removes a lib when uninstalled via Titanium Backup required for rotation to occur.

If you're curious it removes /system/lib/libgnustl_shared.so, which evidently breaks screen rotation.

Samsung Hub shares a lib file with the system. When you uninstall Samsung Hub, it uninstalls this shared lib file. That lib file is also responsible for screen rotation

Well said!
I've found a couple of additional apps that I neglected to add, so I'll do that and drop version 1.1 sometime later today. Also I'm going to post threads on the different variants of the SGN3 to get the carrier-specific apps added to this besides just T-Mo. If you know of any, let me know. I think I'll start by downloading ROMs from those various variants.
EDIT
I'm going to dig a little deeper and see if I can find all of the files associated with an app, so there aren't any orphaned files after removal. Also going to add Google Apps for those that prefer their Android Google-less.
Okay, as promised (though a day late, oops!) here is version 1.1. I have added 3 more apps, and fixed a numbering error in updater-script. You can grab it HERE!
Enjoy!
For the next version I am rewriting this to have pages of apps instead of one long list, to keep things more organized. I have downloaded ROMs from all of the different variants to find carrier apps that can be removed.
I hope to release version 2.0 sometime this week.
Thank you just what Ive been looking for going to give it a try

I tried both V1.0 and V1.1. There is some scrolling problem, once you're close to bottom half. It can be difficult to select from the list, when it auto scroll all the way to bottom or top.
Great addition to my note 3. It has definitely helped me by saving a lot of manual time on titanium backup!

I think it has to do with one or two things (possibly both). The first being Aroma's screen calibration, and the other being the sheer number of apps in the list. That is part of the reason I am splitting them up. So far I have 3 pages for "stock" apps, one for each carrier variant (5, I believe), and then one for google apps.

[LIST] Bloatware that can be safely uninstalled/deleted (42+ apps)

Hello guys!
So I've just got my tab pro 8.4 wifi. Being a previous owner of Nexus devices, the first thing that I'm about to do is delete all the Samsung crap (I do, however, want to keep the rom as it is - rooted with towelroot, KNOX still intact).
However, after searching/reading through this forum, I was unable to find a list of all the apps that can be safely (no reboots, FCs, other issues) deleted or uninstalled (using Titanium Backup). Please share your experience, suggestions, I will try to keep the list updated!

Great list, thanks a lot! Just rooted my TabPro 8.4 just to remove all the bloat ware. Its plain out ridiculous that Samsung puts so much crap on their devices.
Apologize for the thread drift, but why does not tripping the knox/staying stock matter to you folks?
After already having gone through the process of rooting, it's hardly any additional effort to install CM 11, for example, and that takes care of most of this garbage for you.
Because I like to keep my warranty for a while. I was denied warranty on my S4 because of Knox.
Hi. Just got my tab pro 8.4 and while I don't plan to root just yet I would like to disable a bunch of this crap that keeps trying to update and turns on with the Tablet. Was just wondering if you could put a brief explanation next to some of those so I know whether or not it's one I don't plan to use. Thanks. Things like the ant stuff, sidesync, smart card, and Samsung ones. What about ones not listed here like the flipboard and magazine widgets and such. Also, some things have the turn off button grayed out, does that mean I can't disable it until I root? Thx
Hi, I just ordered A10.1 (2019).
I was wondering if I can ADB and delete those listed bloatware?
Also, does this model still get updates for its system?
If yes, until when does it get updaets?
Can you receive updates when bootloader is unlocked or when it's rooted?
Thanks
Didn't notice this is such an old thread.. now I wonder if the list of bloatware is outdated!?

COMPLETE! debloat list for Droid Razr m

Hi All.
After a few days of hard work and a few times of (i don't remember how many) reflashing stock rom, i have made a complete list of safely disabled (remove or freeze its up to you) bloatware on my Droid Razr m KK lates OTA update. (Obviously this was made possible with the help of HYDROGEN PER OXIDE thanks to HYDROGEN & SERG_GANGUBAS). I have seen some other topics here on XDA about debloating M but i think those lists are incomplete. Also this is the first time i am creating a new thread on any forum so my apologies if something i did wrong. So here goes...

I have not disabled Playstore related apps and services because they are needed obviously. But you can delete them just in case. Plus, by deleting all these apps, i cannot use PIN or PASSWORD lock. Pattern is working fine and i haven't found the culprit yet. Everything else is working fine. I had almost 500mb free RAM after doing this(no apps installed through playstore yet).
Did i miss something? Please mention. Needless to say you can keep the apps that you want to use. Hopefully i helped...
**EDIT**
Don't disable VPN Dialogs if you use a VPN app. The app will not work i.e. it won't connect to the servers.
More Apps added in first post.
One more thing i would like to share with you guys from my experience, just in case someone finds it useful.
If you guys are deleting bloat for more storage space, then its fine. But if storage is not an issue and you're doing it for battery saving only, then i think keeping all the bloat and installing donate version of Greenify and Greenifying everything is far better option than deleting the apps because deleting the bloat causes the phone to lag and sometimes FC's. When i deleted all the bloatware, for sure i was having more free ram but i didn't notice a substantial gain in battery life. Now my phone is back in original state and i have greenified everything and now my battery gives me 1 hour more of SCREEN ON time. I am not sure if it will be the same for everyone. Just my 2 cents...
