Why no LTE on ATT? - Xperia Z1 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just got the z1 compact d5503. I activated a Lumia 635 go phone the other day that indicated it was on LTE. However, when I take the sim card out of the lumia and put it into the d5503, I only get H and H+. Why is that?

When I gave ATT the IMEI number they said it is showing up as a 3G phone...Anyone getting LTE?

If att uses 700mhz LTE in your area then you will not get LTE since this phone does not work on that frequency

i recently purchased the Z1 compact and i have to say the LTE for it is spotty depending on where i am. Also, I'ved noticed that the phone shuts down data when connected to my wifi at home.

I am using StraightTalk (ATT service) and get LTE in places. Someone said ATT uses two bands and only one is compatible. Yes the data turns off when on wifi.. I think.

Anyone know if this phone can be used on Cricket Wireless GSM?

Yup. It sure can - I know since I'm using it on Cricket as we speak.

Also using it on cricket with no issues (other than no LTE)

Decided to get this phone knowing that LTE will be hit and miss with no band 17. Does anyone know if there is a way to find out what LTE bands AT&T uses in the city you live in?

Anyone manage to get this working and do speed test? Im about to get an LTE enabled sim with MTN SA and test if it works, opening up phone information, you do get an option for GSM/WCDMA/lte auto.

There is no LTE Modem for the Tegra 3 so no chance
cheers
we can't use LTE (4G) on our international phones regardless of the sim card... that's why carriers like t-mobile and orange are offering to part-exchange our one x (international) for the one xl which can use 4G

[Q] LTE Radio already active?

So I live in an area that has MetroPCS LTE and AT&T LTE. So I can test if my phone can see LTE. When I switch it to LTE in Engineering Mode I am able to see MetroPCS towers (I have not gone to an area with AT&T LTE yet as I'm doing this at work where only MetroPCS LTE is visible as well as Verizon LTE, which I am unsure if the Note 2 can even see that LTE band).
To do this I did the sim trick where I booted with the SIM card in then popped it out with the phone still on, This allows me to see all networks in the area (iirc). During normal operation I can see T-Mobile, AT&T,and MetroPCS. When I switch to LTE only I am able to see only MetroPCS. Which has me curious if LTE is already enabled as I can see it but cannot connect to it. What steps would I take to be able to test if LTE is actually working?

Depends in which market you're located. Also, if you unlock your Note 2 you could go to AT&T LTE area and pop in AT&T SIM. If you're connecting to their Band 17 LTE, you're good.
Also, T-Mo LTE is only accessible to T-Mo employees, not sure if it's visible to us at this point.
I'm more curious if the LTE radio is active in the first place. I'll have to bug someone and borrow an LTE sim. I know I can't get on TMobile LTE right now but I might see about testing other LTE.

[Q] Not getting 3G/4G

I recently changed services from AT&T to T-Mobile but kept my same number and phone. I rooted my phone as well installed Cyanogenmod 10 but now I am only getting edge network and I reported to T-Mobile and they could not help me since they did not know how to repair it and told me I am suppose to be on 3G/4G network since my area has perfect coverage for 3G/4G. The phone is unlocked to use T-Mobile SIM card.
My mobile network settings is set for
Network Mode: GSM/WCDMA preferred
APNs: T-Mobile US
Data enabled
Data Roaming
National Data Roaming
Is there something I missed to do?

You may be in an area not covered by T-Mobile for UMTS/HSPA/HSPA+ service on bands 850/1900 MHz.
T-Mobile usually has its 3G/4G service on 1700 MHz AWS frequencies. The SGH-i747 has an antenna for the LTE service on 1700 MHz, and it is not used for HSPA/HSPA+. Currently, T-Mobile is refarming its 1900 MHz spectrum to run HSPA/HSPA+; you can use this user-generated map to see the refarming progression.

Sprint G5 Unlocked by Sprint (Domestic & Abroad) will not work with AT&T sim?

Any idea why the G5 I have that was unlocked by Sprint OTA will not work with my AT&T SIM? The phone shows the "Bad SIM" icon and refuses to work. I checked the ##DATA# settings, and LTE + LTE roaming are on? Any ideas? Thanks!
I'm no expert, but I believe the Sprint network and phone antennas are 180 degrees different from AT&T.
- Sprint uses CDMA; AT&T uses GSM/UMTS/HSPA+
- Sprint 3G uses bands 10 and 1; AT&T uses bands 2 and 5
- Sprint 4G uses bands 25, 26, and 41; AT&T uses 2, 4, 12, and 17.
Unlocked or not, a Sprint phone antenna is not designed to connect to the same networks as an AT&T phone.
I know there many more knowledgeable than I here, so I welcome corrections.
Change band priority
4 and 2 are from AT&T
Put 1 and 2
And Select GSM on network preference
Open Dial 5689#*992#
Field test
Módem settings
RAT selection and select
GSM/ WCDMA / LTE Auto
@adop_19 Don't get the field test menu when typing the above code. Get "HiddenMENU' with the following;
Device Test
ELT Test
Factory Reset
Log Service
WVDRM Keybox
Any ideas? This is puzzling as Sprint swears the device has been unlocked OTA? There are others on this forum using the same device on Cricket, and thus I believe it should work on AT&T? I am at a loss? Thanks.

Yours may have only gotten internationally unlocked. Sprint has 2 unlocks. They sneakily volunteer information and assume you mean international unlock only. You have to specify domestic unlock to get it to work in the US if you unlock through Sprint's OTA. It does have the bands to support GSM in the US. Even the G4 does. I unlocked one and have it running on T-Mobile. Talk and text only since it didn't give me the APN menu then, but that's ok, it stays near wifi. If you can't get back in touch with Sprint, there are other ways to get it done without them. You'd have to PM me for that part.
Just Reread The Title. It sounds Like they didnt really domestically unlock it.
Is your agreement with sprint for the device fullfilled?

Yes, it only gets Talk, text and 3G and you can only get it working by swapping your SIM. Verizon won't do it if you ask them

There is a free guide to try in dev section
Piggy backing this thread. I've had my LG G5 domestically unlocked by Sprint. I've put in both a ATT and T-mboile sim and added the correct APNs. Calls work so it is definitely unlocked but I can't for the life of me get data to turn on. Not even 3g. Any ideas? Sprint service is deactivated so that shouldn't interfere with the LTE and data. Bands 2,3 ,4, 5, 7 and 12 are enabled according to ##DATA# LTE is enabled. LTE roaming is enabled as well in there.
In network mode I have Automatic, LTE/CDMA, CDMA and GSM/UTMS only. Currently set to automatic. I also tried gsm/utms but nothing.
In LTE discovery I noticed it found LTE band 12 for a second but just connected to UTMS with no data. Everything shows as not roaming (maybe that is the issue?! since these non sprint lte bands are considered roaming bands or something). Reception is good in the area. I usually hit 20mbps+ down in this location with the same sim using band 4.
Help please!
I have a Sprint LG G5 (LS992) and before the ZVC update, I was able to get LTE coverage in my house all the time... Now, after the update disabling my hiddenmenu app trick, I was forced to pay for remote sim unlock for the phone, and everything went great, I have full functionality, and pretty good speeds, using AT&T service now, but I don't get LTE anymore when i'm home... I haven't tried it anywhere else, that is my next move... Just wondering if there was something I missed... I set up the AT&T APN correctly from the ATT website apn settings, have gone through all the hidden menu settings, RAT Selection gsm/wcdma/lte auto, I dunno what I'm missing, other than it just wont work on LTE anymore.

Issue connecting to 4G

So a mate has a P2 and can't seem to get it to connect to 4G. The SIM card and network is Vodafone UK.
What I know/have tried:
- SIM in both sim slots will connect to 3.5G (HSDPA) on Vodafone network
- A different SIM (Three UK) did connect to 4G in the SIM slot 1 (did not try SIM slot 2)
- Settings says 4G preferred network is selected
- By typing *#*#4636#*#* into dialer and going to phone info displays LTE is selected as one of the preferred networks
- The same SIM (Vodafone UK one) connects to 4G in his old phone and has done in all his old phones
- APN settings are correct, verified by Vodafone support plus myself looking online
So he talked to Vodafone support again today who said try speed tests in 3 different locations and report back. He has done 1 which is 14mbps down and 3mbps up which is slow for 4G (I get 64mbps down and 24mbps up, different network but shows his is slow and likely not 4G). Similarly we we know the device can connect to 4G from using the Three UK SIM.
My gut instinct is it's a network issue, all device settings seem okay, nothing is screaming out of place. The issue though is that the SIM has connected to 4G in his other devices so confuses me.
So, I'd love your thoughts and inputs on this. Any suggestions welcome that may help! Thanks!

I dont know the device or network specifically But I know that the device has to support the same lte bands that the carrier broadcasts in LTE in that area Just because the carrier broadcasts say 900mhtz in LTE, if the device dont support 900 in lte then it wont get it. I have had cases wher 3g is the same freq as 4g it still wont pick it up If you get what I am saying. May be a issue or not.
to further add he might take one of the old devices and use a signal catching app to see what lte bands are broadcasted in his area then compare to device
Thanks @TheMadScientist, all suggestions welcome still. I'm gunna continue to keep an eye on this, research answers and send him a link to this so he can test anything on the device.

We get this issue a lot using sprint phones unlocked international gsm. A lot of carriers seem to not use the same lte bands.
Then naturly verizon devices come gsm unlocked but verizons radios are crap and do not pick anything up half the time. My veriz g5 can get lte next town over cause they use a supported band and no towers near me use it. So i get 3g. And a lot of h h+ i ise lte discovery as the app on mine.
Just hope this isnt his issue as its a harware compatibility .

So I checked the network and the device (on GSM arena) and it seems 4G bands are supported. But I'll try that lte discovery app with him soon you mentioned and see what results that yields
@matt4321
http://www.techadvisor.co.uk/how-to...r-phone-is-supported-by-your-network-3597426/
You should check the manuals if there is support for 2600 frequency on phone.
Maybe the phone supports 800/1800(cos 3 is on 1800) and you don't have 800 band in area.
You will have to contact Lenovo and ask them to change baseband or whatever...
or Perhaps get a new phone with support for 2600
Had the same problem using a LG G3. I tried this App to trigger LTE only. Then the Phone connect to the LTE network.
