Z1 Compact Vibration Issues - Xperia Z1 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

After I had my Z1 compact(Japanese Version) two weeks, I started having this vibration issue. When I type very fast the vibration feedback disappear, vibration even failed in vibration test. When I shake the phone the vibration comes back, but when I type fast again vibration disappear again. Some ppl on sony forum said it's normal, one of them made the vibration of Z1 compact disappeared on many new phones in an O2 shop. I don't think this is true, it must be a hardware issue. I opened the back cover of Z1 compact and replace a vibration motor, then this issue never happen again.

I do have this problem too.
You replaced the vibration motor with an original one from Sony?

I have the same issue too, but i think its software releated. Im already on my 3rd z1c and i had this issue on all of them, on the first one i had i had them replace the vibration motor and that didnt help.

I don't think Sony produce vibration motors. I just bought one from Taobao.com that fits for Z1 compact and replaced it. It works fine now. It's a very small piece, I think Z series mobile used the same vibration motor.

I'm sure it's a hardware issue. I tested it. when the vibration motor stopped vibrating, I touched the vibration motor, the vibration motor heated up very hot. but after i replace the vibration motor, i don't have the vibration issue anymore, even the newly replaced vibration motor vibrated for a long time about one minute, the vibration motor is not over heat.

thx for the 'shake it' hint, it works! :good:

Me too!
when the vibration motor stopped vibrating. I shake it and vibrating is normal.

Hello I have thé same issu With z1 i change the vibrator too and put à New back cover for the water resistance !!!!
And everything is good know

Where did you buy the motor from? I'd like to replace mine, but because I'm having an issue with the vibration being WAY too intense on my z1c.
It's obnoxiously loud, and more disruptive than my phone volume being on. I've had to turn off all haptic feedback because anyone within 10 feet of me can hear the feedback. If I get an incoming message or notification while I'm on a call, the person on the other line can hear it very loudly too. I've tried to go through the settings to see if there is a way to turn down the haptic feedback, but I only found one under the stock keyboard settings and it didn't seem to make a difference.

vibration is broken

Hello. I have a problem: The vibration is broken. The cellphone accidentally had 4 hours long vibrates. Now the vibration sounds different if I keep handy in various positions. What can be broken? Can this be repaired easily and where is the vibration motor? Pascal

Is anybody having a VERY loud vibration sound on their 8.4?

I had a 8.4 LTE (705) that i sold to a friend, because he needed right away and couldn't wait for shipping.
I bought another one but this one is LOUD when it vibrates, sounds as if the vibration motor was grinding something.
It helps if i lower the vibration intensity in the settings but, the default vibration (i.e. startup or TWRP or anything outside TW) is just too strong and noisy.
Did i get a defective vibration motor? Is there a setting to overwrite the default strength of it? It sounds like miscalibration.
Anybody else with this issue?
Thanks!

[Q] Xperia S earpiece not working during calls, sound comes from back of phone

Hi all,
I'm having a problem with my Xperia S that started manifesting itself a few days ago. Basically when I receive a call the sound doesn't come out of the earpiece but instead comes from the back of the phone, as if the loudspeaker was being used, but very quietly.
I don't believe this is a headphone issue as I've never used headphones on my Xperia S.
The earpiece works under normal phone conditions, e.g. Turning volume up on the home screen producer a bleep as normal.
Turning on loudspeaker during a conversation will basically make the sound already coming out the back of the phone go loud as is expected when activating the loudspeaker option.
Has anyone else ever experienced this or know of a fix?
I have already tried the 'plug headphones in and out repeatedly' fix which hasn't worked.
I don't think detecting the headphones being plugged in is the issue.
Any advice welcome!
Does anyone think this could be a software issue? Someone in the Sony Forums has recommended doing a repair on my phone, which just means flashing a firmware file to the phone. I can do that, but it doesn't seem like that would be the issue, would it?

Strange vibration noise

Hi everyone, to those who received their oneplus 5T, I got a question for you.
Have you all hear a strange noise after each vibrates? Basically, I've been hearing a strange and non-consistent "raindrop" sound after each vibrates.
When I turn on vibrate on tap and set the intensity to high, I can hear this sound after the vibration motor triggers.
Has anyone else experience such issues?
Here is the sound file I uploaded for better clarification:
https://soundcloud.com/xiang-pan-1/strange-oneplus-5t-vibration-sound
I hear that on mine as well.
I have a similar experience. However it's very quiet (I don't know how high you numbed up the volume, but I don't have it that hard) and not all the time.
I think I know why:
https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/vibration-on-the-5t.695633/
It's the combination of the speaker and vibration. So no hardware fault. Or at least, I think it's not.
Way to reproduce this sound: Go to settings - sounds - incoming call vibration pattern
Play a little bit and you should hear the "Raindrop" sound.
After you connect some headphones it's totally gone. So hopefully it can be fixed with a software update.
Weird.. I don't hear it when I do that. I only hear it when the speaker is on. Like when unlocking your phone, the speaker will stay one for a couple of seconds (very quite noise, is normal). When you use your home bottom fast a couple of times after unlock you hear the raindrop. When the speaker totally turns off after a couple of seconds you don't hear it anymore.
I think it's due to the vibration resonating with the speaker when on (try it for yourself). This also explains why you don't hear it when using headphones.
The sound is so minimal many users don't realize it I think. It's not a hardware fault I'm guessing, more a disign thing.
I'm having this problem too.. only after the speaker is activated.
Everyone who notice it, please also let know on the OnePlus forum here, also for more information about it (It's probably design related):

Vibration motor too low

Whenever i put my mobile on vibration mode and put it in my pocket i miss my phone calls because of this low intensity vibration motor. Is this the same way with you?
Is there any way to change the vibration settings?

It seems to be working normally for me, but I usually refrain from using vibrating alerts as they can damage stuff internally and even more when they vibrate strongly. I'd say vibration on my device is standard.
You can specifically test target the vibration motor using the MIUI Hidden Settings app from XDA Labs, you cannot change intensity of it, just test it the motor.
I am not aware of app or patch to change vibration intensity.
Maybe your device is defective (an other user complains not having any vibration at all as you saw) or coming from an other devices that used to vibrate with more intensity you are feeling the gap idk, but in order to see if that's your device or all device the same, you could go to a store selling it to test how the vibration is there on the devices they are selling.
This way you would be able to know if that's common for all production or just your device and act accordingly.
Good luck,
Regards,
