[Q] Can not unlock the Nexus 7 in Android Device Manager - Nexus 7 (2013) Q&A

Hello everyone,
I encountered a problem with the Android Device Manager. I want to test the ADM. I tried several passwords. But now I locked it, do not know which one is the true one. Actually I remember them, but no one is correct. I tried to update the password, it gave back a message like
Code:
Your new password was not strong enough. Your device has the following password requirements:
NaN - 16 characters long
even I have tried a password like dt8UZLhFknapYK7L.
Anyone can help me? Thank you.

Wouldn't it just be your google/gmail password? Try it from a computer. https://www.google.com/android/devicemanager Well, just noticed you do need to create a new device password. Bummer! If you can't get it to work factory reset.
Reboot your device and try again.

No, it is not the password. I have already tried it before. I tried all the password I remember.

I was just messing around because I've never tried locking any of my devices. I had to reboot to get the password to work.

That sucks! I think you probably just misremember your password. I know that my daughter's mother uses it often enough to lock my daughters phone and it must be working fine because I'm sure she would call me and be a pain in the a$$ if she had any problems!

No, I do not misremember it. You see what message google gave back to me? NaN - 16 charaters.... NaN is always means a bug. It is google's fault.
BTW, is your daughter's mother your wife?

Locked out please help!

Hi
So I changed the PIN on my tablet and forgot it. Now I am trying to get in and I cant, I assumed there would be an option to log in with my Google account, but I do not see that option anywhere. There is no forgot password button like most phones for some reason. Is there no option for this at all on this tablet? I've already entered the incorrect PIN 60 times, hoping it would pop up asking me to enter my Google account info but no luck. Is factory resetting the tablet really the only way to get in now??!

Company owned SM-P605, pin forgotten by employee, I've already tried Odin with stock rom that worked fine (just replaced the Samsung Boot logo with the telco's one) but it is still asking for PIN!
It's not rooted, and I wouldn't want to, how do you FDR with Odin?
Thanks,
P.

my wifi doesnt work and when i try to use it freezes my phone

most of the times my phone freezes at boot animation and I have to factory reset everytime to go through, but again when setting up the phone when asked for network connections "use wifi to setup, use mobile data to setup" something like this, it freezes there too, so I wait 15 minutes at that screen and then proceed and strangely it doesnt freeze. I think it the issue with wifi part because it freezes there and also bluetooth and hotspots are not working, it freezes there too. Please help.

Locked phone after factory reset

Hello.
A few weeks ago my wife forgot her pin to unlock phone, there was no other choice than just reset phone to factory settings via stock recovery.
Eveything was nice until phone wanted me to log into the previous google account that was used before erasing everything. My wife dont remember password and login either. She created it while ago just to use the phone.
Ive got no warranty for it as I bought it used.
Is there anyway to bypass that security? Otherwise phone cant be used again.
Thank you.

Whoa, you taught me something new today :good:
It's kind of a shame it's specific to the J2 Prime phone, I wonder if there are other methods for other phones similar to this
There is a method of launching a shortcut to settings via an app installation from otg at time of setup. That works.

wifi password not saved after reboot

As the title says, whenever I reboot my phone I have to re-enter my wifi password. Is this an issue with the phone or is it software?
I'm on Marshmallow.
Thanks

Ok, this problem should be a software bug, why you don't update to nougat?
Try deleting all of the saved wifi networks and only keep the ones you use. There used to be a bug in android itself. Too many wifi networks and it "forgets" newer ones.
Otherwise it'll be a factory reset.

Was your phone encrypted before you've done a factory reset?
If it was the case, I'm afraid for you, but I hope for global users security, that you can not recovery anythings...

If the data you try to recover was on a device, never locked by anyways, I think you may have chance to partially recover your data.
The first thing you have to do is put your device off.
Then find a computer recovery soft like the one you've mentioned (suport of f2fs file system is requiered), and install it.
Strart your device in recovery mode and plug it to your computer with recovery the software.
Try to see if the recovery software quick search find anythings your looking for. If it does, try the full recovery mode.
If I understand well, your device was never crypted before you lose data, but is crypted now.
So, if the first step don't give any result, you can try a second factory reset in recovery mode, and try scan again. If the second scan doesn't give any result too, you can last try to boot into system and at the first prompt reboot into recovery mode and try a third scan.
I hope this could help you, but I never exprimented this kind of situation so : any subgestion from others users are welcome.
