[Q] Deisre HD and 3G in US?

I am in Singapore and can buy a Desire HD to bring back to the US. I've read the incompatibility discussions with 3G in the US but the Desire HD that I am looking at seems to have a different chipset that the phone manual says supports the 850/1900 band, which would imply 3G compatibility in the the US. Should I take the chance?! Thoyughts? Wisdom? Advice. please! Thanks! And Happy New Year all!

[Q] Dual band Wildfire 1st gen? Is there such a thing?

Hi folks,
I've just acquired a first gen Wildfire which is currently running "Vibhu's ROM Froyo Wildfire".
The phone works fine with SIMs from two carriers but doesn't work with SIMs from the carrier I use (NZ TeIecom in New Zealand). NZ Telecom use 850/2100 Mhz here whereas the other two operators use 900/1800Mhz.
I've been told that my Wildfire isn't quad band and doesn't support 850/2100 but all the specs, articles and web pages I find have the phone as quad band.
So can anyone tell me if there are such things as dual band Wildfire handsets?
If not, I understand that the phone was running a custom ROM and was flashed with the current software before I got it. Is it possible that it could have been flashed with an incorrect software?
Thanks in advance.

HTC 816 (Snapdragon 400 (4 Core), 1.5GB RAM) VS. 816G (MT6592 (8 Core), 1GB RAM)?

Hi,
in Germany there is the HTC 816 and the HTC 816G available.
According to the specifications written on the packaging there are the following differences:
HTC 816:
- Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 MSM8928 (Quadcore 1.6GHz)
- Qualcomm Adreno 305 GPU
- 1.5GB RAM
- Up to 128GB microSD card support
- 4G (LTE)
HTC 816G:
- Mediathek MT6592 (Octacore 1,7GHz)
- Mali450 MP4 GPU (700MHz)
- 1GB RAM
- Up to 32GB microSD card support
- Dual SIM
(Note: There's also another version of the 816G available in India which only contains a Mediathek MT6582 (Quadcore, 1.3GHz).)
Personally I don't care about:
- 4G (LTE) support (as my contract doesn't include 4G (LTE) at all)
- Up to 32GB microSD card support (because I only have a 32GB microSDHC card)
- Dual SIM
I have the following questions:
1.)
Are there any other differences existing?
2.)
Which device will offer the higher performance?
The HTC 816 or the HTC 816G?
According to some website the benchmark performance of the Mediathek MT6592 (Octacore 1,7GHz) is at par with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800.
So it seems like the HTC 816G will offer the higher performance, but it only has 1GB RAM instead of 1,5GB RAM.
3.)
I've seen that in the meantime there are some custom ROMs available for the HTC 816 (like CM11 or CM12).
Are these custom ROMs also available for the Mediathek based HTC 816G?
4.)
According to some website it seems that the HTC 816 will get an official update to Android 5.0.
Do you know if such an update will also be available for the HTC 816G?
Thanks and best regards!
I wouldn't pick a phone with 1 GB Ram anymore, it's a deal breaker for me. judging by the specs, the performance would be almost on par with 816 (Except Mali MP4 chip being stronger than 305) but it's gonna be cheaper than 816.
HTC is going cheap with 816; it seems they're changing its market segment. they're planning to replace it with 820 while leaving 816G for the budget segment.
it's likely that it will get lollipop considering its release date but I wouldn't keep my hopes up about good hTC community support, this being an MTK chip..

Yeah I would go with the 816 for several reasons. First off, official lollipop has already been confirmed for it. Second, the 816 has a handful of custom ROMs, mods, and rooting methods. Not to mention the 816 has official CyanogenMod support. I am currently typing this from a 816 running unofficial lollipop. It really depends on price and weather you care about custom ROMs.

How to Get VoLTE in HTC 820 Dual sim ?

Hello There ,
I want to Active VoLTE in my HTC 820 Dual Sim Taiwan . I bought this from online and using it in india now i want to use 4G Jio its need VoLTE for high speed internet . so someone help me how to get VoLTE on my HTC 820 ? if i update to Android 6 or install any custom rom will get VoLTE ?
There are no options for that currently....
Hi, Mine is 820 from china bought online.
Does mine support VoLTE?
AFAIK, NONE of the 820 variants are able to get VoLTE. As if the hardware does support this feature, I don't think HTC has the time to put their engineers on this old toy again rather then their holy HTC 10.

First of all i would like to say that the full form of "VoLTE" is "Voice over LTE".
HTC Desire 820 dual sim has 4GLTE and Reliance jio sim will use this 4GLTE of the phone to provide high speed data and voice and video call over LTE network.
I am going to purchase the jio sim today and report back after its activation (may be 2 or 3 days later) whether HTC Desire 820 dual sim indian version can support the VoLTE.

HTC Desire 820 dual sim supports JIO Sim as it is having LTE and for using VOLTE you can install "Jio Join" app from Play Store that will help in making Voice Over LTE calls.

Just like normal set up. You can use Google and search for "how to set up his sim" for more info.

Htc 820g plus jio support
I've been trying to get this Jio compatibility with HTC 820g plus for quite some time now and in vain. Almost tried and have consumed every trial methods I found in google. In MTK settings, I'm unable to use the 4g options. It jus stays put at WCDMA/GSM in the preferred network option and I can't change it. And there's no network when I insert the Jio sim. Airtel 4g works though. So I know the phone's compatible but dunno what I'm doin wrong. The sim is already registered and works perfectly fine on other handsets though.

4G LTE and VoLTE are different. Any 4G handsets will work with Reliance Jio SIM for data application. But reliance jio uses HD voice for voice calling. So handset need to support for Voice over LTE feature. Idea and Vodafone 4G is different, they are using the conventional system.. In case your 4G handset does not support VoLTE, then you can install Jio join app for voice calling. Some users find it difficult in this method and complaining call drops. Also data need to enabled for voice calling. Reliance Jio uses 850, 1800 and 2300 frequencies for the services
