Someone start selling these yet?

I'm having trouble getting mine to connect. Have to run to radio shack for an ohm meter in the morning.

good luck also you may have to push downon the device while it is on the cable or also try stripping the red and black wires

Anyone else having issues getting this to recognize on their PC? I have one made, but when I connect, it shows up as "unknown device". I've tried the Universal Drivers, Samsung Drivers, and Motorola Drivers. Nothing seems to work right to connect to fastboot. Could it be possible that I have one of my D+ or D- cable criss-crossed?

I had the same issue, I think our connectors just aren't making good enough contact.
The moment usb connects it sends commands back and forth so if the contacts bounce when you make contact windows thinks the wire is broken and says error...

I'm not even getting an error though. It just tells me that the "Unknown Device" installed properly.

Made this cable from another type of Ethernet jack which does not require the drilling... But I don't want to peel my sticker unless there is a compelling reason to unlock the BL.

Sweet, game on!

Well, i picked up a multi meter from Walmart and quickly discovered that my jig had continuity so after a little investigating it seemed that the USB ports on the computer weren't responding, tho that was easily fixed with a restart.
Great news!..... Except for the fact that i can't for the life of me get a good enough connection to the watch to even get the drivers installed, let alone run some commands in fastboot.
Hampered by a migraine headache i gave up for the night and I'll give it another go in the morning.

Which did you use? I rather not drill if I don't have to since I will probably screw it up.

I used one that I purchased from Lowes a while ago so I already had it laying around. It is On-Q LegrandRJ45 Data/Phone Jack, here is a link:
http://www.legrand.us/onq/structured-wiring/preconfigured/inserts/wp3460-wh.aspx
After you separate the the two halves of the jack (This was the hardest part) you can slide the front plastic part off and it leaves you with your punchdown back piece and the brass leads sticking straight out so you can just bend them as needed and hook up your wires.
I should have taken pics but I ended up sealing everything up with a nice wrapping after I made sure it was working.
PROTIP: after you assemble the cable use your tester again to make sure each lead in the usb plug is reaching the exposed connectors (I also had trouble with my white and black wires and had to strip them before connecting them)

As I had feared, these were the drivers I had been using. What else could I do?

*BUMP* Any solution to the unknown device found.

In the video, was mentioned that someone may be making the usb connector and have them for sale..if so, may I have a link to purchase.?
I did make my on, but in bootloader mode, once I connected the usb connector, that I made, the device was identified with "fastboot devices" command, and the device did display that the usb tranfer mode was active, but when commands sent as instructed, to reboot bootloader or any command like the unlock command, the adb screen would display something like, not a good command..
long story short, I kept tinkering, thinking I had the usb cable pins connected in wrong slot, so I switch connection to other pins in the device, which was mentioned in the video to be careful and not connect to wrong ones..so I tried this..nothing ever would display, as connected, so I switched back to the original pin layout connection, now in bootloader mode, nothing happens when I connect, the device never displays that I have connected usb like before..
Have I shorted the pins out, and damaged the device to where it will not accept usb connection again.? The device in watch mode functions normally, also when I connect the usb cable I made, the charging (battery) icon displays, like the cable is charging the device, but in adb window, the device has never responded, even originally, before I messed around with the pin layout..now only the charge icon comes up in watch mode, nothing in bootloader mode..
Should I sale this device and purchase another, because this one can NEVER be unlocked now..??

XTC Clip NOT WORKING

So I said screw it, and decided to use my clip. I hooked everything up correctly, but nothing is happening....
I boot up to the bootloader screen, wait ten seconds, and nothing happens.
What am I missing?
I made sure I wasn't using a dead 9v battery, So I replaced it with another one. Still no luck. There are 2 Flex PCB's included, and I'm only using one, is that correct? Also, this is one that came preloaded with an unlock credit, so I have not hooked the clip up to the computer. There is no means of doing so anyway(it didn't come with a usb connecter).
Hopefully its something simple. Take a look at the picture I have attached. I think its hooked up right...

So your saying that this a**hole sold me this xtc clip without giving me a cable I needed??? It doesn't disclose in the description that you need to hook it up to a pc. And if you needed to, why wouldn't it include the cable to do so. That's my question. Not saying your suggestion isn't correct, but im wondering why i need to buy an extra cable to do this...

Also the sim flex cable is in wrong. You have to thread the small end through the sim slot. As its supposed to sit on the pins like an actual simcard would. So you have it in backwards.

[Q] problems with usb connection

hoping somebody can help me with this problem... with my dinc2, when i plug it into my mac, it charges but nothing else. the mac doesn't seem to recognize anything has been plugged into it and the phone doesn't seem to recognize it's been plugged into a mac. no prompt for connection type, nothing. i set the default connection to mass storage, i've reflashed from cm7.2 to stock, nothing seems to get the connection working properly. is there a chance the usb port on the phone has broken in a way that still allows it to charge but not to transfer data?
thanks for any advice!
It could be the port...only reason I say this is that when my port was going bad I would plug it into my pc and windows would say unrecognized USB device and I couldn't see it as a drive.
Was is working before? Have you changed anything since the last time it worked? Have you tried on a windows pc?
If it is the port you can grab one off eBay for under ten dollars.

it was working last time i used it, which was in august. it just sat around since then. i have a windows boot on my mac, i tried it in there with similar results. it at least acknowledged that it found a device but it couldn't load the drivers. trying to load them manually was a no go, for whatever reason windows wouldn't let me select the one i downloaded. as in the button to select a file was grayed out. i'm not a superuser with windows. or mac or android apparently

Wow, that is a really good idea for it... Anyways, since I don't drive.... It may be the port like someone said above, or just the cable that was used. If you have tried different cables on different computers, than you might have a dead port that can only charge.

thanks! here i thought it would be easy too. i did try several cables and two computers. rats. i really thought it would be strange for the port to be able to charge though and not transfer data. oh well.
My DInc did the same thing. It started not being able to transfer data, and eventually quit charging. Replacing the port is a simple 5-10 minute job. And like another poster said can be had for about 10.00 on ebay.

Bluetooth connection while in bootloader

As you might know, the bootloader of both the LG G Watch and the Samsung Gear Live can be unlocked.
http://www.androidpolice.com/2014/0...nlock-the-bootloader-and-root-the-lg-g-watch/
This is necessary (at least for now) to root the watch an there is even already a first custom rom for the G Watch out there.
However, this requires a direct USB connection to the Android Wear device.
The Moto 360's specs are still unknown, but the device won't have any kind of wired connection.
Is it (theoretically) possible to set up a ADB connection to a Android Wear device over Bluetooth while in bootloader?
i was wondering the same the other day
ADB without physical connections? o_0

thanks adicool, but from what I'v read so far that should only get you ADB access while in Android
You can reboot into Fastboot from there, but once in Fastboot the watches seem to lose the Bluetooth connection and you have to use the USB connection through the charging cradle - which is not possible in case of the Moto due to wireless charging

I guess there are similar pins like on the gwatch and Samsung gear live but they are hidden behind the end of the watch band and you have to make a custom USB connector.

Be careful. EVEN iFixit broke the plastic cap on the back of the watch. There is quite a lot of double-sided tape. You break that and watertight/dusttight operation goes out the window.

I would hope he can peel off a sticker without cracking the back casing. Looks like it just needs some small pogo pins and it will work great. Peeling the sticker off does likely remove the water and dust protection though.

I've been wondering the same thing. I have been tempted to try it myself but I would be stabbing blindly at it. Someone has to more knowledge to guide them than i do.
So I took it upon myself, turns out if you use a razor blade you can keep the FCC sticker in good condition, but since it exposes holes I would say bye bye IP67...
Band removes easily (use a tiny screwdriver to avoid damage):

You can see the FCC has that tell-tale waviness of a sticker:
Be careful, a razor blade slips in easily:
Sticker removed (you can see I slipped and creased it while removing):
Can't see anything?
How about now
I'm in the process of trying to bend a 5p connector to fit the really tight pin spacing they use...

Question Messy USB Type C protocols?

Hi all, I am not sure if this forum is the best place to ask, my question is not device specific I think. But since I've got a OP 9Pro, and I believe people here may have a higher chance of knowing the root problem, so I am trying my luck here.
So I recently purchased the new Macbook air, and I am setting up adb for my OP9 phone. I discovered something .... very confusing to say the least regarding USB type C cables (or ports?). I already know USB Type C standard is quite messy but this is out of my comprehension. And I really hope someone can shed some light on me.
I have a few USB Type C cables and when I connect them to my phone and the Macbook USBC port, Most won't support data transfer and some won't even charge! So I got curious and tested with 3 different USBC cables, and 2 USBC devices ( My OP9 Phone and a Wacom drawing pad), I also connect a USB-C Hub to my Mac and then repeat the experiment with all those cables again. (The USB-C Hub has a USB-C port marked 'PD + Data', see picture attached)
You can find the result table below. A few explanations:
Red cable is the original OnePlus cable; Black cable is a office supplied data cable (looks good quality); and the white cable I'd say is a cheap USBC cable.
Connect via MacBook USBC means the cable in question is connected to the Macbook USBC port directly
Connect vis Hub USBC means the USBC Hub is connected to the Macbook USBC port, and all other devices are then connected via the USB-C port provided by the HUB
For OnePlus 9 Pro, Data means I can see my devices using `adb devices`
For Wacom, Data means I can move/click the mouse cursor with the pad.

I understand that not all USB Type-C cables are created equal, but at the very least I'd expect they can all charge a phone? It is not the case here. The questions most confused me are:
The Black cable is marked as a data cable, and it can connect to my wacom when I plug it directly to my Mac. My Wacom works as normal, but how come when I connect it to my phone, it's not even charging my phone?
When the Black cable is connected directly to my Mac from my Phone, I accidentally disconnected my MacBook Air's MagSafe power, and guess what happened? My phone is reverse charging the Macbook. WTF? Is there some sort of one-way charging protocol with this black cable?
Why adding the USB-C Hub causes different behaviour? It is clear that the HUB does support data transfer, although only with the Wacom device.
All 3 cables in question can charge my phone if I plug the other end to the apple white USB-C charger that comes with my Mac
Only using the OP red cable can the MacBook detect my phone, why? shouldn't all USB Type C 'data cables' can do that?
Really appreciate any insights!
I don't understand what you are asking or what your problem is.... The OnePlus red cable seems to be the obvious choice for charging and data transfer...
One of the questions would be what's so special about the op cable? Is there some proprietary protocol/chip in the cable that only allows it to communicate, or even charge my phone?
Well, things do get very confusing with power delivery and USB 2/3.
For instance, a USB 3.0 is required to have the USB 2.0 part functional.
But, you can chop that out and some devices in some circumstances will work just fine.
Also, many Type C cables are only USB 2.0, they are missing the four pairs for USB 3.0.
I would think that anything would charge somewhat but there are two major protocols for power negotiation.
One is pulsing on the CC, the other is a carrier on Vbus.
The best thing to do would be to take scissors to all your cables so that we may understand the problem!

The cable and charger that came with the phone is "matched" to the device. To deviate from that is a choice and a gamble that yields mixed results.

Although the stock red cable supports both WARP charge and data transfer, it's only a USB 2.0 protocol, crippling the transfer speed. FYI.

But my charge rates are 30% to 100% is less than 1 hour...my data rates between phone and PC are insignificant as to whether to takes 5 mins or 7 mins to transfer 7gb of data...as long as I can charge my phone in a reasonable amount of time and I can transfer data between my phone and PC reasonable, then what if any problem do I have?
Oh, the One Plus 9 also uses its own proprietary protocol for power negotiation.

So, really what is your complaint, I was for a long time using Samsung devices, and even though I paid for them, I could not unlock the bootloader. It is my phone, I paid for it, but I can't have a custom bootanimation or do what ever with my phone since I paid for it. It was my phone, but we will limit you as to what you can do is what Samsung was saying. Charging and data rate transfer were the least of my problems. My phone my customizations were more important to me..

Huh? I was just stating a fact.
I don't own a One Plus, I rarely care how fast something charges, but I am interested in USB.

I'm interested in a few different things.
I just read a book on the Great Trigonometrical Survey (of India, 1802-1871).
And just this morning I disassembled and patched the kernel on my new tablet.
The gambit of chargers and cables is all over the spectrum. Some cables will charge but not do data transfer. It is sometimes a hit and miss proposition that for the most part is a gamble. Not exactly a monumentous problem. Good luck in your endeavor...

What are you talking about? She stated a fact, that's it.
No further comment on this subject, it is pointless!

Oh I read it. Cables have nothing to do with msm/fastboot/ADB. If you plug in your cable and msm doesn't work, its driver related. I have a 50 ft USB 3.0 cable extension and it works fine. I even have a USB 2.0 25 foot cable extension, works fine. USB c to USB c, works fine, etc

I'm glad you've had better experience than others (including myself).
Any USB 3.0 or 3.1 works with Fastboot. It's not cable related. The only different thing is the USB protocol.
I personally use a FULL USB 3.1 cable (Type C to Type C) which transfers my files from OP9 Pro to the PC at speed of around 300-400Mb/S. Also MSM tool finishes in around 90-100 Seconds unlike the stock USB 2.0 cable which takes 3x the time.
Edit: Same goes for MSM tool (EDL by Qualcomm), doesn't matter what cable you use. If you have issues, it's driver related or your USB port on the PC.

Wrong. I've got cables that work with MSM and others that don't work with MSM.
Same driver, same computer, same ports, back-to-back testing.
I don't think I've ever run into issues with FastBoot nor did I mention FastBoot in my OP.
Cheaper cables will not work as well for high speed/data transfers past ~six feet.
If you're not going to post the make/model of a cable you know from experience works with MSM at 10' and has high data transfer speeds, then please don't bother posting on my thread.

"It doesn't work for me, therefore, my statement is true". Literally own multiple 3M+ cables that I use for MSM tool.
Not sure why are you instantly this mad. Get a snickers.

Are you overly sensitive to constructive responses? lol
You can research for yourself. This isn't a "me issue".
Gonna be putting you on ignore since you're just a troll now.

No, just saying that you should calm down, you're literally over-reacting to any reply. Literally just went through your posts, and saw enough.
Calm down guys. It's just a cable.
I think part of the problem is sellers who list the cables as usb3/3.1 and they're not, that's why he's looking for one specifically that works for sure > 10ft. I also have cables that don't work for msm/edl/data transfer at all. They're just low rate charging cables. I have no reason to buy those so they were probably part of something else or listed as usb3 cables and they actually weren't. I suspect they aren't abundant because of the length limitation you're already aware of and people expecting their $4 cables to charge from 7 houses down.
I'm not much help to your thread. I know for sure these work at 6ft https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B07TBNDLVW?
You might get away with using a USB coupler. I've had slower than dash/warp but faster than non-dash/warp charging when using two of those together with a coupler. I've not tried to use them for msm or data transfer
Just to update the thread, I ended up buying this cable and it was a poor experience.

I never got around to testing its speed for transferring files but I didn't notice any issues.
It "seemed" to be fast.
But yesterday I needed to use ADB and it didn't work!
So, I broke out my old three foot USB 3 cable and that worked using the exact same USB port on my computer.
Then, I swapped it for this 10' Anker again and suddenly that now worked for ADB too.
I figured it was a just a fluke.
So, I then kicked off an MSM back to stock on the 10' Anker cable.
And that led to my poor experience.
The 3' cable usually takes about 3-6 minutes to complete MSM.
This cable took seven hundred and seventy seven minutes to complete MSM.
Yes, 777 minutes!!!!
It would go 30 minutes at a time without moving the progress indicator.
I was positive I'd end up with a bricked phone.
But it eventually finished overnight.

WOW....of course the description stated charging cable without mentioning sync. I have ran into this when picking up different generic cables. They would charge but would not sync the phone.
