Samsung $200 Trade In Rebate for those with Sero - Sprint Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

What are the right steps for us Sero account owners to get Samsung $200 Trade In Rebate with Note 4 pre-order?
1) Pre-order the phone online and ignore the "need to change plan" message.
2) go to sprint retail store and trade in the smart phone worth at least $10
3) go back to Samsung website and fill out the rebate form on 10/10
Is that all to receive the rebate from Samsung or am I missing something?
Thanks

That is exactly what I was going to do today. Anyone did this already for sero?

Deleted.

I did it yesterday... (step 1 & 2 on same day) but I just want feedback from you guys.
BTW don't forget to write down your IMEI and WiFi Mac address from you trade in device. You will need it to fill out the rebate.

I don't think you need the old/trade-in device's IMEI or Mac address, just the Note 4's info.

Sprint Employee Referral Offer.
It was a plan offered many years ago for "friends" of Sprint Employees so that you could get 500 minutes, unlimited text/data/picture messaging for $30/month. The last feature phone that worked with that plan was HTC Touch Pro 2 (windows mobile 6.5) released in early 2009. The only way to get that plan is to have it already. For a few years you could get a transfer of liability from someone who had it, but now they have changed even that so that the only way you can transfer the plan is to someone who already has it.

Sprint sero plans beware!(must read)

Ok so today being the day sprint launched their touch pro 2 I decided I wanted to use my upgrade to buy it. I bought a mogul 2 years ago and my contract is ending.
My adventure today was crazy, I went to two sprint stores and then called sprint corporate twice.
First store I went to was a normal sprint store and I asked to upgrade my phone, they said I needed to go a "sprint corprate store". There was one close by and I drove there they told me they cant upgrade SERO plans from the store and I would have to call it in.
So while in the store I call the sprint number and I get this girl and I tell here I want the Touch Pro 2 she is like ok are you buying a line or are you an existing customer. I gave her my plan details and she was like O you have a sero plan this phone dose not qualify for this plan. I was like WTF do you mean this plan does not qualify for a Touch Pro 2 I have a mogul now and it the same thing just slower. She said I needed to add on a premium data plan to my existing SERO plan that already has unlimited data. I told her I worked for best buy and I could get he version version from not only 150 less but $40 a month cheaper then the 50 she wanted to add on top of my current plan. She put me on hold and came back any told me the same thing that I had to upgrade to the "simply everything plan" the new SERO plan. I said no that not happening good by you have just lost a customer.
Phone call 2
I call again and get this guy he says how can I help you I say I have a SERO plan and I want to upgrade my phone. He says ok you can as long as you not upgrading to the palm pre and 2 other black berrys. I said no I want the touch pro 2, he said great I can get you that phone. He adds it onto my plan and sends me the phone NO QUESTIONS ASKED.
I currently have an order number and its been shipped the sku for the order number is a touch pro 2 not a touch pro trust me I checked.
DO NOT LET SPRINT CON YOU OUT OF YOUR SERO PLAN ITS ALL BULL ****.
You can keep your plan.
I had no problems upgrading to this phone. That first girl just had no idea what she was talking about. Glad it all worked out.
I had no problems upgrading.
Just letting some of you know they might try to con you into upgrading your plan.
Really Shady on sprint part.
Some systems can't access employee referral lines. If the store has one of these systems, call the sero number and let them walk the employee through the upgrade Or they can do a manual contract.
You've never been able to do ANYTHING SERO RELATED except through Telesales.
Never ever not ever and not even a little bit.
This is not news.
I extended my $30 SERO for two years and got the Touch Pro 2 without any issue, via online chat. Everything looks good in my account info.
Hmm the only thing I believe Sero customers don't get is the $100 mail-in rebate.
I ordered the upgrade online last night (www.sprint.com/everythingplus), arriving today via Next Day Air shipping. There is a separate rebate form for SERO/Everything Plus plans, but the rebate is still $100.
I avoid dealing with live folks at Sprint whenever possible.
I am on the SERO $30 plan.

Yea I did mine over the phone, called 1-888-882-4030. I would advise against calling this number to update your phone if you are eligible. Some of the reps might try to eff you over.

When i bought the phone the T-Mobile rep told me that the phone will cost $229.99 + $50 (mail-in rebate0 + $ 18 Upgrade Fee + Taxes. So i got the phone for a total of $312.**. The T-Mobile rep filled in the rebate form for me and told me to just mail it to the address mentioned on the form. I mailed the form last week and yesterday i got a message that they have received the rebate request and is under process. I was told that it takes upto 6-8 weeks for the rebate card to arrive. So i'm waiting.
You can check the status or eligibility for rebate from the following link:
http://www.tmobilerebates.com/splash.asp
bleh... that rebate will definitely not apply to me for many reasons
Yeh... I got the message yesterday too. It takes 6-8 weeks from now.
I mailed it out on 10/17.
Like other people said above, 2 year contract and $20 or higher data plan are needed for $50 mir.
Thank god for this post! Totally forgot about the rebate lool hopefully it didnt expire yet.

Well i'm not sure about the Data plan requirement during upgrade....it is there for new contract....this is because when i upgraded my line it did not had any data plan on it and nobody checked for it....The T-Mobile rep only check on their system if the line is eligible for upgrade or not. I got the data plan added after i bought the phone and after reaching home i checked and internet was not working so i call 611 and the rep told me that there is no data plan on this line. So they definitely do not check for data plan during upgrade.
You lucked out without a data plan lol.. when upgrading to a smartphone data is required.. and can't be taken off. You do need a minimum of $20 web in order to receive the rebate as well
Only under the value plans is data not required on any phone.. def a bonus feauture of the value plan along with cheaper monthly plans

Maybe.....receipt is supposed to be attached. And I don't think the rebate specifies that it needs to be a T-Mobile receipt.
Thanks for the heads up on this - the drones in the store didn't mention the rebate
Using tapatalk on my Galaxy 2 to post this!
Rebate only applies to phones purchased at a corporate store under a classic/grandfathered plan. If you have a value plan you pay $229.99 + the whole tax of the equipment which is $529.99 and the rests gets put in 20 payments of$15.00 for 20 months.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using Tapatalk
If the rebate is filled out online the turnaround time is usually around 4 Weeks. You still need to send it in to complete processing
I bought my S2 at Wally world for a total of $215.00. Do you guys think the rebate applies to me? I have a family plan that's $69.99 which I have been on for about 3 years now... and yes, I have a data plan that i pay $34.99 for 5GB and unlimited text(its a grandfather package that was used for the Mytouch).
Usually Walmart devices for Tmobile do not come with a rebate available

Need help with Samsung rebate

The rules of the Samsung rebate say that it requires a copy of the pre-order receipt as well as a copy of the trade-in receipt. The Verizon location that I went to did not give me a receipt showing that XXX device was traded in. The receipt that the Verizon local store provides just shows a store credit for X amount of dollars in the form of a gift card being credited to your account. After getting home I called the Verizon store back and two different reps including the manager told me that this is how they print receipts for trade-in transactions and that is the only receipt that they can possibly give me.
With all this being said I don't see how I can possibly get approved for my rebate from Samsung when the only receipt from them that they tell me that I can possibly get only shows a gift card amount that could've come from anywhere, the rep did tell me that if Sam somewhere to call and provide the information on the receipt they could pull up a file showing that A trade-in was done I just don't think Samsung will go through all that hassle. any feedback on the situation would be appreciated
Sent from my iPhone 6 using Tapatalk
I printed out the trade in receipt at the time I did it online, it lists the device, trade in amount, and your trade in confirmation #. I assume I will also get an email once the trade in is approved and accepted, I will just submit both.

When you do it in the store unfortunately you don't get any of that stuff. Literally all they handed me was a receipt that showed that a $200 gift card balance was applied towards my account that $200 was my trade-in value
Sent from my iPhone 6 using Tapatalk
Can't you just apply the $200 gift card, that you said Verizon gave you, to the purchase of the Note 4?
I don't understand. You got $200 from Verizon, you're not going to get $200 from Samsung too.
The 200 I got from them was based in the value of my phone , had nothing to do with the note 4 . The value of my phone would have remained the same regardless of whatever I purchased. The Samsung promotion was the only reason I even choose a Samsung product if that is the case I will just take it all back and use the 14 day policy and get everything back
The guy at Verizon said it was a $200 rebate. Regardless of what was traded in.

Samsung only gives you the difference of your trade in to equal $200. So if your phone was worth $200 you aren't getting anything from samsung.
If your phone was worth $14 dollars like my trade in was then samsung is giving me $186 to make the total trade in equal $200.
edit: Good luck getting your phone you traded in back if thats the plan you are going with.

I just got the same email... Here's what crazy. I really didnt need to send in my old Droid RAZR M apparently.
I pre-ordered online and submitted for a trade in online using verizon's system. Since Verizon was taking forever to send me something saying, "We got your phone, Here's you $15 trade in", I sent in my Samsung rebate using the print out from the Verizon Trade in site saying my trade in amount would be $15. Of course, that's just a page that verifies that you created a trade in request. It doesnt mean you actually sent the phone in.
Oh well, just glad they approved the Samsung rebate. Im guessing they got so many of these and there was no real standard format, so they didnt have time to do normal rebate shennanigans and deny people for random reasons.

Hahahaha, no surprise. These prizelogic people are idiots. I honestly can't believe Samsung is still partnering with them. Let me explain.
They had a promotion for the Note 3. Register your device and get a free $50 Google Play credit. This was suppose to be a 3 month promotion. The online form was name, email, phone number, maybe address, and IMEI. They didn't text you a verification code. If was as simple as if you entered in a valid IMEI, they emailed you a $50 code. So take your IMEI and changing one number could net you another $50 if you have a second email address. Or you could jump on email, search Note 3, and find someone with a picture of their IMEI. You see where this is going. I think they had 30,000 codes, and ALL were gone within 36 hours. Ebay was flooded with people selling them at $30-40 a pop. I think someone found one ebay account where the guy had sold over a hundred. Anyway, so yeah, these same people who horribly ruined that entire promotion are the ones running this one.
I too got the email saying I was approved. I bought a brand new POS phone at Best Buy for $30, got $10 for a trade in value, and that will net me a $190 check. So basically $180 off a new phone. Nice!
I used an old BB Bold or Torch, got 12 bucks for it, so expecting 188 back.
Got my confirmation email 2 days ago. Yay
Trade in $20
Rebate check $180
Note 4 purchase price $299.99
299.99 - 200 = 199.99 Note 4 final purchase price

Note to self, never ever, ever, get a Samsung phone with mail in rebate, unless is like the Best Buy offer...

**LOOPHOLE** we come out on top with this scenario INSTALLMENT PLANS ONLY

As y'all may or may not know I tried to turn my verizon note 7 couple days ago but they did not accept it and said I will get a box and after i send and they receive it then they will credit me the tax, activation fee . I was peeved as i had to pay a new tax on my 7 plus 256 which is not cheap $106 plus activation fee however they said call Customer care and they will reimburse and waive off the activation fee so that is pretty fair..
Now here comes the good part..
When my new phone arrived my installments for the note 7 is gone no trace of it on my account. i searched everywhere via my verizon.. my new installments already began with the i7plus. So now I'm supposedly waiting for this box to arrive so i can put the note 7 and get my tax and activation waived.. well F THAT ..i called Verizon and they waived my activation already for the i7plus. AND for all this trouble I am deciding on keeping this device for as long as i want.. this is a $900 device what's paying the tax of $100 going to do? I say its well worth keeping for $100 . I am beyond angry with the way this process is being handled.. why not automatically waive the tax for my new Upgrade device ?that's what peeved me the most and made me rebel.. so here i am using an i7plus and on forever Wi-Fi on my $100 note 7 .. BEST OF BOTH WORLDS .. i use my i7plus for messaging and note 7 for my entertainment ..
How i feel
or, instead of keeping the note 7, request a return with Samsung directly. They are accepting returns from people that bought it used from craigslist or ebay. Once they receive it they will cut you a check for the carriers' retail value. I'd rather have $850+tax in cash.

Are you calling the right Samsung dept? You need to get in touch with their Colorado call center. There is a phone number listed in one of the reddit posts.
They are sending me the special box so I can ship them my note 7. Upon receipt they will cut me a check for $850, or the tmobile retail value.

If that's actually true and Samsung is actually willing to buy back devices that can't or won't be returned to carriers directly then anyone attempting to sell a Note 7 would be a fool not to take advantage of it.
With the actual recall now official and legally in place, anyone attempting to sell a Note 7 in the US could face Federal charges if they're caught doing it and you can be absolutely certain there are law enforcement people of setting up stings on craigslist in major cities already in progress. eBay is actively yanking any Note 7 listings of most any kind automagically, and Swappa won't list a Note 7 at all either so, craigslist and local sales boards/services will be the only realistic option for some folk that just don't have a clue.
Hell, I kinda wish I had a Note 7 right now to sell back to Samsung myself.

Can i get a truth confirmation from this ? That is way better than my plan .. HOWEVER when they see the IMEI then it's gameover your carrier will find out
At this point it doesn't matter, it could be a lost device, or even one that's been reported as stolen or wherever it's purchased from, second-handed or not - the point here once again is they have to get these phones out of the public's hands and that's that, any way they can and if that means buying them back directly from consumers that's what they're going to do.

I'm confused...
I'm on an installment plan with Verizon. You're saying if I deal with Samsung directly, lie and say I got my phone on ebay, and send them the phone directly, they'll give me $850 + tax? That doesn't make sense.
Can't Samsung just check the IMEI to see that the phone hasn't already been paid for in full?

Even if they do, you get the $850 + tax from Samsung direct and you'd be expected to use that money to repay Verizon because they bought it from Samsung - either way Samsung loses, Verizon gets their money back, and so do you - unless of course you turn into a cheap scumbucket, take the money from Samsung and give Verizon the finger and don't honor what you're supposed to actually do in that situation which I'm sure a lot of folks are considering already as a quick way to make some fast cash off Samsung's troubles.
This is assuming that you can get Samsung to actually make you that offer, of course, so call them at that number in the Reddit thread and ask for the Note 7 office in Colorado and see what happens.
Samsung asked for IMEI, but as a verification of the phone itself. There is no way they can see into your plan status with Verizon.

If I was gonna pay off Verizon anyway - it makes more sense to deal with them. Verizon is already offering a full refund of what I have paid so far (Probably somewhere around $60 with installment plan). But, my understanding of what was written in the OP is that Verizon just decided to forget about all of the installment plans for the Note 7, while leaving the phone in our hands. Verizon is putting a lot of faith in its customers to leave it up to us to mail the Note 7 in this fireproof box.
SO, you can either keep a free Note 7, or monetize it by sending it direct to Samsung and getting cash. Either way, your being a "scumbucket" haha.

That's crazy! I might do this, wow. I can't believe Verizon would just delete all of the installment plans like that. This loophole is gonna cost Verizon thousands, if not millions of dollars...

OK....
SOOOOOOOOOOO
I just logged into my account on Verizon. My bill cycle ends every month on the 12th so it was updated very recently.
The Galaxy Note 7 installment plan has disappeared from my Verizon bill. Poof. Gone.
In the August - September bill cycle, the charges on my line totalled $56.
This includes the $20 standard for Verizon line access, and $36 for the device payment. It also clearly states that there is $828 left to be paid off.
In the September - October bill cycle, the charges on my line were reduced to a total of $20.
I am ONLY paying Verizon for line access. The device payment is gone entirely.
I remain skeptical - but it's possible everyone with a Note 7 on Verizon just got it for free.
THE Verizon Note 7 was not free. You aren't currently paying for it, and you will be refunded everything you have paid. You can also keep it for as long as you want. However, if you upgrade to a new phone at sometime with Verizon, a fire proof box will be automatically sent to your address. If you do not send in your Note 7 at that time, you will be charged the full retail price.
I wonder what would happen if you just switched carriers...
I'm making my return with Samsung itself and taking the $850 plus tax to the bank.. we need to be compensated for Our time and effort to make this switch.. paying for tax and activation fee ? Come on just waive it since it is on file that you paid the tax and pay the difference or bill credit of your new device.. those that had version 1 and 2 should be more annoyed by This... $25 for the time you waste going in and out of Verizon stores and waiting on the phone for a phone rep certainly adds up ... I'm going with Samsungs return and getting the $850 plus tax.. I'm already on a new installment plan with the ip7 plus .. Verizon just told me that if I don't return the device then I don't get my tax and activation fee from the note 7 which is around $120 ...
Can someone actually confirm that they will give you a check once returned ? I can see this backfiring and them getting the device and me not getting my $850
THOSE ON THE INSTALLMENT PLANS SAYING YOU WILL BE CHARGED FULL IS FALSE... you just won't get you tax and activation back..
This is uncalled for.. look how long i have been waiting.. I know have extra evidence of an attempt to exchange on file... hands are cleaner now
is a potential court case for fraud really worth keeping a phone that might meltdown in your closet where it is stored because your never gonna use it?

I'm confused...
I'm on an installment plan with Verizon. You're saying if I deal with Samsung directly, lie and say I got my phone on ebay, and send them the phone directly, they'll give me $850 + tax? That doesn't make sense.
Can't Samsung just check the IMEI to see that the phone hasn't already been paid for in full?

You don't even need to say that.. i got off the phone with them .. they check your IMEI and no matter what ; you get the full value of the phone and anything extra on it just include it in a receipt when shipping.. box comes in in 3 days and the check will come in 10-14 days.. pretty smooth transaction..
