Sim card size - Verizon Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is the sim card going to be nano, or micro?
I'm hoping for micro so I can swap back and forth with my S5.

Naturally I saw that in a review right after you posted that... For some reason I didn't see anything conclusive the first time I searched. Thanks!

So I should be able to put the sim card from my Note 2 in and be good to go...?

yep

The physical size is the same between S5 and Note4. But the Note4 SIM (metal part) looks smaller than the one on my S5. Can anyone tell me if it makes a difference?

sandisk class 2/4 cards are under rated. trust me they perform above and beyond, even better than a lot of class 6 cards.

Bahaha, or they shoved the sd card in the sim slot and now they're not getting 3G/4G signal. "You mean it's not a dual slot? But all the new phones have a dual slot. The Galaxy Nexus is so outdated! Why didn't they include it? Google and Samsung are stupid."

I don't see a problem. Buy a USB OTG/host-cable and then a USB memory-card reader and then put micro-SD into the a adapter into the reader and it just works.
At least it doesn't require iTunes anywhere in the chain

Want to return to the Galaxy Nexus

So about a month ago I sold my white Galaxy Nexus to buy a Galaxy S III (t mobile version) I'm considering returning to the Nexus but since I had to cut my sim to a micro size will it still fit in the nexus?
I'm on the $30 unlimited plan btw

I did the same thing this week. I bought 1 of those cheap microsim>fullsim holder/adapters from eBay & everything is fine. Really pleased I sold the s3 now
Can you post or inbox me the link to the one you bought?
Edit: found it. Thanks

i am on T mobile with a micro sim since I have one s. You actually do not need any adapter. All you have to do is put the sim inside the sim slot and line the gold connector up and the phone will work without any issue. The Sim slot is pretty tight and the sim card do not move around in there. The placement of the GNex sim slot i also quit easy to line them up and insert the sim.
I think as long as you do not suddenly drop the phone, the sim should be quite secure in the sim slot,
ps, if you are dumping hte GS3, I can trade your my Nexus, hahahaha

While it would work, I'd save myself the hassle and just spend $1 on an adapter so that the SIM can be easily removed and you wouldn't have to worry about it getting out of position.

i do agree with you here especially if you swap the sim in and out. Be careful what sim adapter you buy because some of these adapter can potentially misalign the connector. Also hear people have the adapter cause the connector to break or bent. I am actually thinking of getting the adapter as well so I can swap between the phones If you find a good one, let me know.
BTW, if you are going to go back and do not plan to switch to microsim, then yeah prob easiest is to go to TMO store and they should be able to switch it for you for free.
The reason why I sold it was because I thought with the additional 1gb on ram and a fast processor it would be a great device to move to(Gnex had outdated specs). Also another factor was the poor speaker volume on the nexus. Yea yea I know you can improve the gnex sound levels via app tweaks but by far the sound is MUCH louder on the Galaxy S 3. One more thing, on average I used to get around 4mbps down in the Brooklyn NY area since the gnex only had hspa+ 21 but on the galaxy s 3 I get around 6-7mbps since it has hspa+42
Honestly the main reason is lack of quality ROMs and developers in the T-Mobile section(cm10 is buggy as hell). Also I kinda stood out having a white Gnex . Now every other person you see has a white Galaxy S 3.. ughhhh.
And I miss the CRT animation. Currently the Galaxy S3 is incapable of doing the animation because it breaks other functions..
I can go on and on...

Go to the T-Mobile store and get a regular sized SIM card?

128GB Sandisk Micro SD

I know our tablet's specs say max of 64GB for mSD.
128GB from Sandisk is out, is there a way to make this work?

I believe it should work fine and the reason they rated at 64gb because at the time there's no 128gb yet. I knew some one who used a regular sdcard to micro sdcard adaptor for 128gb on the Note and it worked!

Aside from putting in an adaptor, do you have to do install some apps or some software tweaking to recognize the card? Or is it just plug and play like any other cards.

Just plug and play. But the adapters are a little delicate, I wouldn't suggest having it loose and flapping around. If you have a case, you can just tuck it in and it should be fine, otherwise I'd suggest taping it down to the tablet. That's how I did it on my Xoom.

as a side note what programs do you guys use to format your sd cards to fat32? The 64 from my note 2 doesn't like the note pro. IT detects it but wont read the files. Shows the used space but can't see anything on it.Very peculiar

For cost and reliability I would stick to 32gb or less. You can buy 2 x 32 gb for less than one 64 gb , you won;t run into format issues.

You asked what will work reliably. When you go above 32 Gb the format has to change. Some ROMs will work some will not.
SD cards do not last forever. whatever you store on one, make sure its is always backed up. I prefer to go with 32 Gb , they will work with any ROM and when it does fail, its cheap to replace it.

You've been able to do this for a while now. Create a micro sd > sd card adapter, find a suitable way to slot it on the back case and away you go.
edit: couldn't find the one I saw before, it was on a flex cable which made it easier to set up.

No, it won't. I didn't notice any slow down after changing the card from 64Gb to 128 GB. The only thing i noticed was, that my music player (Neutron) took a while for scanning the card. But this was only on the first time. After that it runs absolutely flawless...
