[Tool as a flashable zip] Get updates even after rooting in Redmi 1s MiUI - Xiaomi Redmi 1S

Get updates even after rooting on MiUI stock
Only works with stock Mi Recovery!
What does it do? :-
If you didn't understand this before, now you can get OTA updates even after rooting!

Why did I make this when new updates can be flashed just with ROM file? :-
Some people aren't that professional, in fact I made this for my friend for whom I rooted the phone and he had no idea how to flash it, recoveries scare him . Also the downloader app in MiUI sucks!

Installation instructions :-
Download the file in the attachments below and transfer it to the root of your phone's internal storage and rename it to update.zip
Go into the updater app, press the menu button and sleect "Reboot into recovery" and then press OK.
Use your phone's volume keys to navigate and then select English
Select flash update.zip to system and after it completes then reboot into system
Tada! You will now get OTA even when you're rooted!

It works for us on stock recovery... Try CWM. We are looking into this bro need ur co-operation! This is because one of our main devs is from Andhra Pradesh and if you watch the news then because of it we cant get the download link!

You want users to download a zip that contains an alternative build.prop, that is likely to cause the phone into a soft-brick, and which has 'only' an OTAUpdater.apk from an unknown origin; I'm afraid no. Noobs may fall for this. This (replacing with a custom build.prop) IS a potential risk and would NOT recommend users to do that (even if this zip was correctly packed/flashed). Reporting thread.

If you are the developer explain how your stuff work (the mechanism) and if you are not you have not right to put that in the developer section!!

here are the specs of both devices:

http://www.sogi.com.tw/mobile/pad/products/10975/spec-ASUS+Fonepad+7+LTE+ME7230CL
Everything relating cpu, memory, display size etc seems the same.
For as far I've seen the only differences are : bluetooth version, LTE and android version.
I think in the worst case you will just keep having the bootloop, or you won't be able to use LTE and/or bluetooth the way it should..
Either way, I don't take any responsibility's on me, but if it were me I would try it.
I searched for the specific rom for your device but I can't seem to find one...

try the 2 official one at the bottom of the post, the complete bottom.
There is an official one for both sku versions.
If you would expect any raw to work, it would be the official from asus, no?
If you get one of these two to work, quickly make nandroid backup and then you can continu to flash the one you want, perhaps via official update or so

Help is on the way Which firmware is actually installed? Which method to you use to root your phone? Please post the exact way you try it and the files you use for it.
EDIT:
Okay, lets shorten this a little bit.
Flash "Temporary CWM" and then flash SuperSU from your INTERNAL sd card using Temporary CWM.

Great idea. Youtube tutorials are kinda crappy. You should be able to FIND and READ the solution on your own or at least post the right request/question before you start modding your phone.
BTW
Ace II has kernel/recovery on the same partition. So if you want to use a permanent custom recovery you will need to flash another kernel (compatible with your stock rom) or a custom rom (probably the best you can do to your phone).

I know it's original, but last I heard CM12S was still in the soak test procedure. There may still be unresolved bugs.
Also, is this a 32-bit build or a 64-bit build?

Like small WiFi/Bluetooth/RIL bugs of some sort?
Or is it perfectly safe to be flashed?
I can't take risks, since I won't be able to downgrade my device after flashing it.

[ROOT] SM-J730G/GM/F Galaxy J7 Pro

Below you will find my procedure to root the SM-J730G/GM Galaxy J7 Pro - Exynos 7870
(may also work for J730F, see post #3)
This procedure has been tested on J730GMDXU1AQF8 firmware. It may work for future releases or it may not.
If an updated firmware becomes available my advice is to update with FLASHFIRE to maintain root.
DISCLAIMER: YOU FLASH THESE AT YOUR OWN RISK. THE KNOX COUNTER WILL BE TRIPPED AND WILL POTENTIALLY VOID YOUR WARANTY. HAVING THE STOCK FIRMWARE TO HAND IS ALSO ADVISED
NOTE: BEFORE MAKING MODIFICATIONS, ON SOME ANDROID 5.1.1/6.0/7.0 DEVICES IT IS NECESSARY TO GO TO:
Settings -> Developer Options -> OEM unlocking
AND ENABLE OEM UNLOCK FIRST OR YOU MAY ENCOUNTER 'BLOCKED BY FRP LOCK' WHEN FLASHING.
Instructions:
◘ 1. Download the files below:
sm-j730gm_SR3-SuperSU-v2.79-SR3_root_boot_32
ODIN 3.12
SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones
◘ 2. Install the USB driver and ODIN to Windows.
◘ 3. Boot your device to RECOVERY mode then select FACTORY RESET. THIS WILL WIPE YOUR DEVICE AND YOU WILL LOSE ALL DATA. (This procedure is required to remove encryption or your device won't boot)
◘ 4. From RECOVERY, IMMEDIATELY Boot your device to DOWNLOAD mode then connect your USB cable. (DO NOT LET YOUR DEVICE REBOOT NORMALLY OR YOUR DEVICE WILL RE-ENCRYPT)
◘ 5. Run ODIN and place the sm-j730gm_SR3-SuperSU-v2.79-SR3_root_boot_32.tar file as is in the AP slot. Don't change any options and hit START.
◘ 6. Wait for the device to flash and reboot.
◘ 7. Install the SuperSU apk from Play store and you should be rooted.
◘ 8. Have fun!

Hi ashyx, thanks you! I can confirm that this method is working for the J7 730F/DS model whith Version J730FXXU1AQF4.

As long as the variants don't differ in CPU/SoC (Qualcomm/Exynos), with Samsung it never was a big deal to use twrp from a "brother" model. Always make a backup first before flashing critical system parts and keep the original odin flash file in handy.
Thanks. Now I know sir.

Hi. I read through this new thread, and the original thread by Oves (India) who was working on the root for the J730G/DS as well. @ashyx love the work, thank you very much. But when I click on the 32 bit root file on androidfilehost.com it gives me a 404 error, file not found.
I think the link is either broke, or the file has been removed. If people are reading the old thread, they may eventually make there way here to find the updated file.
Can you please repost the link for the proper file? Thanks again for all your hard work!

Maybe try a different browser or disable any ad blockers.
That is strange, I still can't get it to work via Chrome or Firefox. I just tried it now on my mobile, same thing.

Depends on what root method you actually used.
As for stock rom, you can look it up in updato

Depends on what SuperSU you're using with TWRP. I recommend this root method: https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...overy-twrp-3-1-0-1-samsung-galaxy-j2-t3616589
Using all the files listed in this method. I got the same exact error you had a while back when I used a different file of SuperSU, but the one included in this tutorial has given me no problems.
Remember, flash to stock first (doesn't matter the build)

Hot linking? What do you mean?
Choose from here: http://updato.com/firmware-archive-select-model?q=G532G&exact=1&r=XID&v=&rpp=15

I see. Then google search and look for the ROM
Go to updato.com
Select firmware
Search for G532G
Select your region (XID)
Download that way
It doesn't seem to like direct links so you'll have to search for it yourself.
