[Q] Google Calendar--no text in Month view - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note 4

On the Note 3, Google Calendar's month view displayed the text for appointments throughout the month. On the Note 4, all I see in Month view is some colored lines indicating the times of appointments each day, but no text describing them. Is there some setting to restore the text in Month view? If not, this is a major step backward. (All appointment information displays properly in Week or Day view.)
UPDATE: It's been fixed!

I've also notice the widget only displays the day tasks. Note 3 would display the weeks tasks. Is there a way to view the weekly tasks like on the note 3?

There's a Nexus 5 thread with a modification to restore text-in-month-view, but it's unavailable for our locked-down Note 4. So I've switched to Calendar Pad, which has that functionality.

Thanks brother. I got Google calendar mixed up with Samsung calendar. Seemed as I used both on my note 3. Google calendar has the weekly view I was looking for.

Check the settings view I've got mine set to show the full month with the text of the events and such showing in each day.

ACalendar+ is light years above Google Calendar or Samsung calendar.
They have a paid and free version, I recommend you try out the free certain. Just has a few less features than paid version.

Really? In Google Calendar for the Note 4? Which setting are you referring to? When I go to Calendar View Settings, the only entries I get are Hide Declined Events, Show Week Number, Week Starts On, Use Home Time Zone, and Clear Search History.

As of the 2015-04-08 update (version 5.2-90091543), Google Calendar once again displays the text of appointments in Month View.

Calendar tab really slow

Hi there,
I've noticed that when I flick to the calendar tab in TouchFlo3D that it will display some items, then there's a delay of sometimes up to 10-15 seconds before it will display the rest of the items for that day (this is looking at Day Mode).
It's not chronological, meaning that it's not giving me the first 2-3 items of the day then searching for the remainder, it appears random.
Anyone else having this?
Cheers,
Pete
i have displayed immediately only the appointments with a time specified.
the all day events come later...
about 2 seconds later...
Mmm, I thought that was the case, but no, for me it's totally random. Timed, untimed, all day, whatever, and the delay is more than 2 seconds, that's for sure
have you messed around with the weather database?

other than delete and add cities (legitimately), no other changes and no tweaking/hacking of any kind.
out of curiosity, why would the weather database have an impact on the calendar?
Pete
My calendar come sup nearly immediately
BUT my SMS tab is a nightmare to come up... (Same like 5 to 10 seconds...)

when you open a day in calendar the weather is displayed in the day view...so if ther's a problem with cities in the database it could be the culprit of the delay.
i messed with the city database with a program, and i had problem in the calendar view and in the clock/alarm view, because the cities database had some trouble...
this happens to me as well, however the delayed items seem to only correlate to appointments/reminders set inside a contact. for example someones birthday defined in the contact has a delay while another persons birthday (same setings) created as a calendar specific event shows up immediately. apparently the fone just needs time to search the contact database for events. and does not need to search the calendar database because ...it's the calendar

JB Google Now and use of Calendar

Google Now currently looks in my calendar and display cards based on certain calendar entries. This has happens for meeting invites and some calendar items, but I seemed to remember from one of the Google IO sessions that it would also display the Travel Card and flight information if there was calendar entry with flight dates/times/airline number...right now it doesn't do this even if all my flight information is in the calendar.
Right now the only time I see the travel card is if I do a manual search for the flight, and only on the same day...am I remembering it wrong?
According to http://www.google.com/landing/now/
Flights
Google Now keeps you up to date on flight delays and traffic conditions to the airport for flights you've recently searched for.

Thanks...since it pulls up other calendar entries, I just assumed it should do so for all of them. My alzheimers must be acting up again :silly:
I'm trying to find a way to use voice to add calendar entries.
Any way to do this either with gn or another app?

You can use the "events" feature by going online to your Google calendar settings and enabling events. Once you enable that feature, set up a contact called Calendar and use the number you were given during setup. You can then just send a voice text to "calendar" with the date, time, and purpose which will create the calendar entry for you.
If you prefer an app, check out voice calendar. The app works ok most of the time but it isn't perfect. I prefer the first option which works every time flawlessly.

That's an awesome tip...thanks!
Edit: damn...just checked and this is only possible with US mobile phone numbers and I'm in Canada. Still, a great tip!

Holy crap this is the most ingenious workaround I've ever seen. Thank you for this! I didn't even know Google Calendar had this option!

I must be dense, as I don't see where to enable events on the online calendar's settings.
I think he means setup the Mobile Setup part of settings on your calendar. Google will text you a conf code that you put in there, then your mobile number is setup to enter calendar events by texting GVENT (48368) from your phone. So make a contact named Calendar with that as the number, then in Google Now tell it to text Calendar with the message details being the event info and it will setup the calendar event for you.
This worked great! Thank you
To those confused they will send you a text to confirm your number. Just add that text to your contacts and name it calendar or whatever you want. Then text them the info and they add it to your calender for you. Nice! I'm surprised at how accurate gn is with voice recognition. this actually works well.
prwarly quality
What a great tip - thanks.

Thanks. I finally got the verification code & have set up a "Calendar" contact. Can Anyone give me an example of a command to set a calendar entry? (I am at work, so I dont need to be saying commands to my phone ATM)

Open Google now, say Google. Say "send text to calendar dinner tomorrow night at 5pm". This should set a calendar event for Wednesday at 5pm with subject of dinner

Has anyone gotten Google now to work with Google voice? I can't get the listed procedure to work b/c I don't use stock messaging, but rather use google voice instead for my text messaging... any ideas?
Anyone on Verizon got this to work? Just curious.

Strange facebook calendar event

I am not sure this is a note 2 specific issue but I never saw it on my previous HTC one x.
I have my Facebook calendar syncing with my note 2 and there is an odd event in there that moves to the current day. Is For the biggest party ever and does not have any of my friends listed on it.
I have disabled all the old app apps from the pc interface yet it is still there.
Any ideas folks?

I have the exact same problem. Havent found a solution yet
Sorted it!
DOH!
On my PC, I had 'show declined events' unticked, so the event wasnt showing in the desktop version of the site.
So, I went to Events (on the left hand side), the cog icon next to 'Today', settings and ticked the 'show declined events'. Then the event should show in the desktop cal. Delete from there (cross on the right of the event) and then sync your android!
Happy days

S planner showing wrong events time

Hello everyone,
Recently I have started having issues with my calendar events in S planner, I am pretty sure that this issue has started with the latest firmware update. Anyways, I have set a rule in my work outlook to forward all emails to my Microsoft exchange email account that I have in my note 2, so when someone sends me a meeting invitation to my work email, it comes to my phone as an attachment (.ics) and I simply click on that and import it to my phone's s planner. This has been working great for a while until recently, once I open the .ics file I would notice that the timing of the event is 4 hours behind (I live in Ohio so the time zone is Easter time) but if I import that event to the phone, then edit it, and go to the time zone and change it from (GMT+0:00) to Eastern time, the time of the event shows correctly. Keep in mind that I have all of the Time Zones at Eastern time and I am locking my event to the same time zone too (in S planner). so somewhere the event's time zone changes to GMT+0:00 and as I mentioned before, only after updating to the latest firmware. setting the time and date as well as the time zone to auto or manual does not make the problem go away, the only thing that will correct this issue, is by setting the time zone to a different time zone than where I am (to GMT +0:00) and set the clock manually. I also noticed that if I forwarded the same email to my Google account and import the same .ics from there, the timing of the event would be correct.
thanks for any input
Am I the only one with this issue?
thanks for any feedback
You're not the only one
I'm in Amsterdam (which according to S-planer is GMT +2; funny, I always thought it was +1) and there's a red line showing the time indeed
+2 (no worry, setting the time zone differently in the settings section does not help at all). I think its a bug...thought it was a bug, until I found
that the time zone in the settings of the machine were off (at GMT+0) and then the settings of the clock jumped two hours. Easily fixed for
me. I hope you have a comparable problem.
I have the same problem. I have all theelvcorrect time settings in place. This definitely an issue with s planner as the time appears correctly in the summary view of the event when in month view, but is behind by 6 hours when you open the event

"Tomorrow is Election Day".... Every day?

Hey guys -
I haven't been here in a while - been out of the "dev" game for a bit.
Here's my issue - Every single day, (since the day before election day, Nov. 5th, 2018), I get a notification on my phone (stock, not rooted - it's my daily driver), that tomorrow is election day. It looks like a google calendar notification, but there is nothing set in my calendar about election day. For what it's worth, I don't use the google calendar app (I use Business Calendar 2, paid version), but I do sync my calendar with google. The notification Icon isn't from my business calendar app. If you swipe the notification off of the screen, it's gone until the next day. If you click on the notification, it brings up a web site with a google search on where to vote and the importance of it. Since it's just one notification a day, it's not a huge deal, but since it's been happening for about 2 months now, it's starting to annoy me. I can not, for the life of me, figure out how to make it stop. I guess a factory reset might be in order, but the phone is my daily driver that I use for my business, so I'd rather avoid that if possible.
Has anybody here experienced anything like this and got it to stop? Even if it's for a different event, a resolution that you used might be helpful in resolving this one as well. A google search hasn't led me to anything about this other than people having issues with chrome books and a chrome browser extension for the calendar, and having multiple notifications for events that actually were in their calendar. I think those issues are different, mainly because I don't have the event in my calendar to remove or modify (it just doesn't exist at all), and I don't use the google chrome calendar extension and don't own any chrome books.
Any thoughts?
Thanks in Advance!
