How do you know?

Your note 3 connected to band 25 the most rolled out band. Your note 4 connects to two other bands that are still being worked on that's why. You're probably connected to band 41 or 26.

T-Mobile Galaxy Note II Is Future Proofed With LTE

T-Mobile Galaxy Note II Passes Through The FCC, Is Future Proofed With LTE
http://www.tmonews.com/2012/09/t-mo...s-through-the-fcc-is-future-proofed-with-lte/
850/1900 GSM/GPRS/EDGE, 850/1700/1900 WCDMA/HSPA, Band 4 (5, 10, 15, 20 MHz), 17 LTE (5, 10 MHz).
Yup, that’s both 700 MHz for LTE roaming and 1700 MHz (T-Mobile’s AWS band) for LTE, which means only one thing — the Galaxy Note II is future proofed for T-Mobile’s LTE network, coming in 2013.
The rest of the report is under confidentiality so there isn’t a whole lot else we can discover from the FCC filings, but at this point the presence of LTE was the only unknown we had hoped to find. The rest of the Note II is pretty standard globally so we don’t expect any more surprises. To be honest, with the discovery of LTE on board, we can’t think of any better surprises.
While it’s true my excitement of LTE and future-proofing may be preliminary, the Galaxy Note II is likely to be a device many of you consider to be the best of both the tablet and smartphone world. The knowledge that the device will be ready and waiting for T-Mobile’s LTE network to go live in 2013 and won’t require a new piece of hardware is just a little bit of comfort in a world where hardware turns over far faster than our upgrade dates.
Cool...but. I'll be using my Note 3 by the time you see LTE on your Note 2
No need to wait for LTE, HSPA+ for now is just as fast if not faster in places. As far as getting LTE it adds/keeps value when time comes to resale the device.

Even if it's true that T-Mobile is slow in adopting LTE, I'm still happy with their service because they are the only carrier that provide WiFi Calling. This is very important for me since no carrier has any signal inside my apartment unit, and also while travelling overseas. If not for the WiFi Calling feature built into T-Mo's phones firmware, I would have already bought the international version with or without LTE. I've been very happy with my Galaxy S3 on T-Mo without LTE, but I want the bigger screen and S-Pen. Eagerly waiting for the US launch. Only a few more days! I'm sure I'll have a Note 3 as well! Lol, I just got my S3 and I'm already looking at Note 2.

For wifi calling use Talkatone and your Gvoice account if you have limited minutes on t-mobile. It's unlimited incoming and outgoing over wifi or 3g. And you have the benefit of having a second number to give out.

T-Mobile Note 3 Poor LTE Reception

Just wanted to voice out and let you guys know that I have a T-Mobile Note 3 and have poor RF and lower LTE speeds than with my S4. In my office I would always get average 9-12 mb on LTE with an iPhone 5 and S4. With this Note 3 they don't pass 4-5 mb, I stopped by an area that I would always get speeds over 25+ and the most I got was 18mb. I really do hope it's a firmware modem issue because I'm really loving this phone so far. I was reading on the AT&T forums and some users are having the same issue, how about the users on T-Mobile like me?

At your APN Setting, change the APN Protocol to ipv4 only. That should make your LTE connection smoother.
I will try that but what about reception it went from 94-96 on an S4 to 109-112 on the Note 3 same spot.
I guess its the phone. Have the same problem like a lot of note 3 users. Poor reception. My note 2 has always have full bars on lte but on my note 1 bar.
Thinking of returning this phone and suffer the restocking fee than to settle less than what I use to have. Bit dont get me wrong I love the phone but what use is a phone if the reception is poor.

Many have this issue and many do not. What I can tell you from first hand experience is this.
You will complain to Sprint for about three weeks. Make several visits to a store and finally if you are lucky you will get to talk to their top tier tech support. That tech will tell you that according to a log that only the techs at that level can see, that Samsung has reported that a certain number of Note 4 phones are having issue connecting to Sprint towers and need to be reflashed.
This reflash is not a USB operation but JTAG operation and requires it to be done by a Samsung service center. I was lucky as their is one just 20 minutes from my apartment in Plano. So I got a service number from Samsung support over the phone and took it in. They kept it for 3 hours, ran diags and reflashed and said nothing is wrong with it. Ran a speed test there and 27/15. Got home and was back to maybe 1/.05. According to their coverage map and the position of my home tower as they call it I am in the heart of SPARK but still get only these speeds.
So in a Nutshell Sprint will tell you the phone has an issue Samsung needs to fix. Samsung will tell you there is no issue with the phone and the problem is the Sprints towers and network. Neither company wants to fess up as neither wants to take the backlash when it goes public that Samsung released a certain number of crap phones for once and that Sprint not only bought them but resold them with full knowledge of them being defective.

How are they losing money when they will not let you return it for a refund? The best they will do is give you another Note 4 like they did for me and it too still has the same issue. I can tell you it is not the tower as my brother has an S4 and the exact same plan and his phone right next to mine in my coffee table was getting 15MB/s while my N4 was getting 1MB/s.

Same thing on 2 note 4 in my house... S4 gets 10 MEG, note 4 gets 3G... Like dialup modem... The tech said to set Spark plug gap to factory spec and restart device to effect Spark speed of 0.01 Meg to 50 Meg. If that dosnt work he said look for a wifi source to use which helps keep the network faster. Amazing people still have access to such slow data speed, thanks Sprint!
For me it's bars. 1 or 2 bars At my place but 5 or 6 with Note 3. So some of us can agree there is an issue but is there a fix?

Like I said in the previous thread, neither want to make the call and accept responsibility. So no there is no fix as long as both companies deny an issue.
I bet it depends on which city you're in and how far along the Sprint Spark rollout is. The note 4 is triband (spark compatible) while the previous notes are not.
When I got the LG G2 (triband) my 4g speeds were bad compared to my previous single band phone. A few months later, the speeds got significantly better due to the rollout.
My note 4 speeds are really good as well.

Based on Sprint my home tower which is just a few blocks from here is a SPARK tower and supposed to be fully provisioned but if it is, then that still leaves the phone as being the issue.
If the phones data header in it's radio is programmed wrong with the wrong providers header which is done by Samsung then Sprint towers will not identify the phone correctly as being SPARK enable. The phone will connect to the LTE signal for a moment but since the tower can't ID it as a SPARK/Sprint device the tower then drops it to the 3G band which is what happens with most of the complaints.
It will hold the LTE signal for a little bit after rebooting or turning on and turning off airplane mode. But then it will drop the 3G with in minutes and stay there. The phone as it is operates just like a phone that has been unlocked and is being used on a network that does not support it's high speed bands. That is why i suspect the ID header in the radio has been programmed to another provider and not Sprint by accident.
If some one has JTAG equipment and a known problem phone they might be able to prove this or if they have a way to see what the phone is identifying itself as when connecting to a tower we might can prove this is the case.
^^What you are talking about was the exact thing that happened to my LG G2 where it would drop to 3G and not go back to 4G without either an airplane mode cycle, reboot, or update PRL. It was fixed when sprint upgraded its towers near my house beyond just being Spark enabled. It has something to do with an eCSFB issue that is being slowly fixed across the nation. More info is on the s4gru website.

Moving to AT&T - Should I replace my N910T with a N910A - Band 29?

I am likely moving to AT&T from T-Mobile. Don't get me wrong, I am a very satisfied T-Mobile customer, but they have oversold their network in my neighborhood. Testing AT&T on a Nexus 6, I an getting 10X the speed, close to 40Mbps down when I may be only 2 or 3 with T-Mobile. So, here is my question: Should I replace my T-Mobile N910T with a N910A? I have read the N910T thread and I am not asking how wonderful the T-Mobile version is. I know. I don't root devices and I am stock on my Note 4. I don't care about unlocked bootloaders. Not important to me. I also understand less bloatware.
But when I test the Nexus 6, I get faster speeds, closer to 50Mbps. I am using Band 29 on the Nexus, Band 4 on my Note. I understand that the N910A supports Band 29. My area is congested. Will I regret in a year or 2 not having Band 29?

I have a n910a I'd trade for that. Got extra case and what not. Wanted tmobile note 4 for a while. lemme know. I get good speed tests in portland and Vancouver and Seattle. 35-55 mb down, 4 to 10 up.

I am using ATT note 4 and is in perfect condition. I have been looking to trade for tmobile version because i want to root my device. Let me know if you want to trade. I will include 2 cases and 64gb sdcard.
I'd also like to offer my Note 4 N910A if the above trades don't work out. Great condition, screen is flawless. White version, 64GB SD. I'll include both the factory and S-View flip case, OEM charger, and a sports armband. My reason is the same as the above poster: I've been dying to root it and doesn't look like it's gonna happen for the N910A anytime soon. If I can use a N910T instead on AT&T, I'd prefer that any day.

I know for me, in the market I'm in, there's no 'Spark'. I never really got caught up on the spark icon as long as I had the bandwidth I needed, but that's just me.
Sprint Spark is still enabled in my area with MM 6.0.1 (NJ). I don't think the OTA update touches this. I know currently LTE is down in my area and many others so maybe this is part of the issue but I don't know. All I know is Spark was definitely working in my area with the official MM update (until today's outage).

Nope not my results at all, I am in Newark NJ where Sprint spark is prevalent with no issues. I tried official MM and had blazing fast speeds. I'm back on AOSP now but still no issues. Sprint was having issues with LTE the past few days in my area so maybe that's related, I don't know.

This. Spark is just Sprint's multi band LTE.. The little spinning icon was removed on all devices because everyone hated it. Still a spark device and band 41 was not Spark, it was just the band with the better speeds.. What Note 4 does not have is Carrier Aggregation aka LTE Plus.

Check More networks>Mobile networks>Network mode. Make sure it is on either LTE/CDMA or Automatic. It may have come up on CDMA from the flash.
I liked the spinning icon ?
Spark (band 41) was actually causing me LTE issues. What would happen is once my phone dropped to 3g it would NOT connect to LTE again unless I rebooted. I went into the ##DATA# menu and disabled band 41 and I've had 0 issues getting LTE again. As for speed? I get 38 down and 12 up so I'm happy. I'm guessing the tower near me is in transition to spark and that band 41 is having issues.
Can someone post a screenshot of what the new icon looks like?

I know. I wanted to see what the status bar looked like after the MM update. When my wife's M8 got the MM update it changed the icons (signal, WiFi, LTE, roaming, etc) to match stock Android (which I like).
I was wondering if it was the same on the Note 4.
Sprint spark was nice but I have been having terrible connection issues in Vegas. When talking to one of the techs at sprint he was telling me that they now have LTE Plus which is better and faster than Sprint spark but it was not available on the note 4 due to its triband connection. If this update allows it to use the LTE Plus that would be fantastic. Anyone know the answer to that?

When talking to one of the techs at sprint he was telling me that they now have LTE Plus which is better and faster than Sprint spark but it was not available on the note 4 due to its triband connection. If this update allows it to use the LTE Plus that would be fantastic. Anyone know the answer to that?
