Anyone using Edge to go from Note 3 to Note 4? - Verizon Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am, and I did the transaction online. My phone is set to arrive Thursday (tomorrow). I am wondering how to handle the return of my old phone. I'm guessing a return label included in the box.
In another more general thread here, I asked about the possibility of keeping my Note 3 and turning in a different phone (Droid Maxx to be exact). Anyone know if this is realistic? I guess I will find out, and I will post my results!

If you were previously on edge, you need to send in your note. If you're edging up, I believe you still need to. That's the phone that was tied to the line at the time of the purchase.
Sent from my HTC6525LVW using XDA Free mobile app

When you first start out with edge you can give verizon any phone, not necessarily the phone your using. If the phone is currently using Verizon Edge and you are edging up, then that phone has be given to Verizon. As for shipping, Verizon emails you the instructions and label. Put your not into a box. And ship it.

If you are adding edge to a line that didn't already have it and you are eligible for upgrade you don't have to turn anything in. If you are with in 1 year of your upgrade they will let you "early edge" that is what I did but you have to send in the phone that was active on the line when you did the edge agreement. I went and got a 10 dollar flip phone off Craigs list and sent it back..... lord like a charm. Make sure you do everything through customer service because the stores have different rules... they want the phone to have been on the line for at least 12 months . Total crap in my opinion but if you go in with a device that's only been on the line for 2 days they will turn you away. Hope that helps! If you have any questions feel free to ask!

Just went through this. When i added my gf to my line, i got to talking the guy about being the n4 and edging up from my n2. My contract isn't up until February. I told the guy i wanted to keep my n2 1)because i already paid for the thing 2) its like brand new since i had to make an insurance claim after cracking my screen. Guy said to just activate an old phone and do it. Woke up 4 hours early to get this done. Go to the store only to be told now i have to turn in my note 2 or i cant do it.. I really don't want to let my n2 go

So, you were OK turning in the old flip on an early Edge? (My N4 isn't paid off yet, but is eligible for upgrade) How about the $200 Samsung trade-in deal? Can we still take advantage of that or is that for contract buyers only?
And JTProuhet, did you send your old one in with the provided labels or go to a store?

I'm not sure about the 200 dollar deal and yeah I turned in the flip phone no problem. The rules stipulate that all that is required is to turn in the phone that was active on the line when the early edge is made. So if you do get a flip phone you have to leave it active on the line until you activate the note 4 otlr whatever phone it is you're ordering.

Question about sprint 14 day grace period

So my brother needed a new phone badly and he went out and switched to sprint (from verizon) and got a galaxy s2 today. I know the galaxy s3 is coming out in 15 days.
Now as far as I see, Sprint has a 14 day return policy for the phones. Do you think there's any way he would be able to return the phone in 14 days and get the galaxy s3 the next day?
The tricky part is that he's switched from verizon, so if he returns the phone, I don't know if he can still keep the wireless plan or is eligible for a new phone. Does anyone have experience with what happens if you sign up for a new plan but then keep the plan and just return the phone? Are you still eligible for discounts on the phone then? I could give him an old touch pro 2 to keep the account active for a couple of days if needed.
Thanks for any tips.

Well the policy is 14 days. And the day he got it counts as day 1. And if you return it within the 3rd day they will credit back the activation fee. If you return after the 3rd day (4-14) they will stick you with the activation fee. Also if the reason that he is returning it is just because he wants the gs3 they might charge him with a $35 restocking fee. As soon as he returns the device the reset the upgrade .So my advice is to return asap if he is still within the 1-3 days. And the only way for him to keep his number and plan is to activate the extra TP2 that you said you have. Hopefully this helps

Hey!
I have some experience with this, and I can tell you (at least, again, from my experience) that Sprint will let you do something like that... if you switch the phone on the same day.
I think if you call in advance, maybe they'll make some leeway for you, or at least explain what you can do. But sorry, I don't know about whether or not you can return the phone and then wait, and pick it up.
However, for me, on the 13th day following my contract extension I was able to replace an Evo 3D for an E4GT, no problems at all.
Also... maybe you can exchange for a pre-order? That's just a thought...
Thanks for the replies so far. In all honestly, that Galaxy S 3 will be mine! lol. So if the upgrade gets reset I can have him activate my old palm treo or the touch pro 2 and then once he gets the galaxy S 3 I'll just pay him the 35 bucks if need be. He will then get my galaxy S2, so nothing lost on his end.
why didn't he just go to walmart and get a cheap pay-as-you-go phone for $40 to tie him over until the s3 is available? would've been cheaper than the mess he got himself into.

He needs the phone for business and he was actually just planning on keeping the Galaxy S2. So it's technically me making things complicated because I think the upgrade is going to waste getting an S2 instead of S3.
You can do it. The thing is you or him needs to exchange one device for the other at the moment in the grace period. But not return it and stay without a phone till SGSIII arrive. Good luck.

Wait so this thread is about you wanting an s3 and talking your brother who had to have a phone and got one he probably likes since the s2 is one of the best phones ever made(imho) and now you want to cost ALL OF US INCLUDING YOURSELF IN THE LONG RUN MORE MONEY? Dang..... thats worng and I hope with all sinceraty your brother returns his s2 and keeps his s3 for himself.
if you dont think you are costing us money by waisting a completley good device that will have to be sold to asurion then wait until the next hike in sprints prices ex: TEP goes to $11 next month we have it good with unlimited data but since sprint customers try to cut so many corners the company is being forced to find ways to make up the money...... and I already know you dont care bout coporate america blahblahblah, we'll see when your in the "omg I cant believe sprint is charging me for this now thread"
Again these are my opinions so take it for what its worth

I'm not sure if i exactly understand what you are saying. The grace period is 14 days, but the new phone comes in 15 days.
My plan is to go on the 20th (the 14th day of the grace period) and tell them he doesn't want to keep the galaxy s2, but wants to keep the plan. Then I will have thenm activate a treo or TP2 that I have laying around in lieu of the gs2, wait until the next day or two when the GS3 is out (he will have to use the treo for a day or two) and have him purchase the GS3 at that time.
Crossing my fingers and hoping that works.

I appreciate your opinion. However, I am not doing anything outside of Sprint's own limitations. They have a 14 day grace period for you to try out the phone. I will end up paying 35 dollars likely for returning the galaxy s2 as well. The whole purpose of the 14 day grace period is if you change your mind. I am more informed on the subject than my brother and have convinced him that the galaxy s2 was not a good choice when the s3 is coming out. I believe that is a legitimate reason to return the S2 and get the S3

OK not gonna start a war w you bout this but if that were the case they wouldn't ding the sales rep who sold you your device when you exchanged it, even worse if it is 3rd party you lose you comish all together. The policy is so if you are absolutely unable to learn a device or it does not fit into your lifestyle such as work or things of the sort, it not put in play so we can test a device or borrow for 2 weeks bottom line weather you believe it or it straight up coat the company money period and if we dont preserve what we have it will be gone.

I take no offense to your post and understand your stance on it. I was not aware that the representative loses their commission if the item is returned, but that does make sense considering that sprint did not make any money on it. Considering that fact, I can try to return to the same representative when purchasing the galaxy s3 to minimize his loss at the very least.
Won't work, you have to do a direct exchange within the 14 days. If you return it, they'll cancel the account which will cancel his number. If you "activate a treo in the mean time", his 14 days is still running, meaning he'll be out of luck come the 15th day. Best bet is to call customer care to see if they will let you pre-order the S3 and use a temp phone in the mean time.
Should have waited one more day.
EDIT: As long as you exchange the device, the rep still makes commission for the activation. If you outright return it, they get charged back for it.

Thanks for the tip. Although I don't understand why he wouldn't be able to keep the phone line without keeping the phone. I guess they are linked? Would he be able to just activate another sprint line without purchasing a phone and just transfer the line over to there?
I think I'll just have to go down to Sprint with him soon and figure all this out. In the end if we can't do it it's not a huge loss. The GS2 is and will still be an awesome phone. It would just be awesome to have the latest and greatest
He can return the phone completely on last day then buy the SGSIII when it comes out. Or just return the SGSII ina week then get another phone to reset his 14day period

Exchanging does not "reset" the 14 day guarantee. If you exchange on day 14, that's the phone you're stuck with.
on a somewhat related note, you only get one exchange during that 14-day period so be sure to choose the exchange wisely.
So after all of that my brother decided to stay with Verizon because he wasn't happy with the wireless service on sprint. No new phone...

Apparently bit too late but still may be someone will use this info.
I was due for upgrade last year in july when EVO 3D came out.
I had a Samsung Moment and I used my upgrade to get EVO 3D.
Back than it was 30 days grace period.
I kept EVO 3D for about 2 weeks and couldn't get used to it. So I returned it to Sprint and went back to my Samsung Moment.
My account has been reset and money has been refunded except for $35 restocking fee.
It all happened in July.
6 months later in December I used my upgrade to get SGSII.
So if you have account and you return the phone you still keep the number and contract. At least it's true for upgrades.

Just to clarify things yes the number and the ESN from whatever device you have at that time are linked. If you return the device you cannot keep the line open as it will not have a valid ESN attached to it.

[Q] AT&T Preorder Problems?

Thought I might ask here, am I the only person not able to order this phone? After two days, and hours on the phone, whenever I place my pre-order, I get a confirmation email...and then seconds later, I get a cancellation email. You can't pre-order this over the phone or in stores...is there some special number I don't know about, to call and get this issue resolved? I've literally had an AT&T service rep tell me that they will just continue to cancel my order, and I'm out of luck.
I've thought about trying with bestbuy, but I have unlimited data, and Bestbuy (online) doesn't give an option to upgrade to the unlimited LTE add on.

I had the same problem Oct 25, as I was ordering 2 Notes, one full price and one for my wife with 2 year renewal. I also spent an hour on the phone, ATT couldn't figure it out. I finally thouhgt I would order one at a time. First I ordered the full price Note and received a confirmation email, then I ordered my wife's with discount for the 2 year contracrt, again confirmation. This time, it worked, so both ordered and confirmed for 11/6 ship date. Now if you were ordering only one, no idea, but finally worked for me by ordering only one at a time.

Yeah, I'm only ordering one. And I'm not going to risk being charged 700 dollars, when I'm trying to upgrade at the discount price. I see a few other people have had the same problem, but there aren't any solutions posted. Unfortunately, ATT just says to wait and buy it in a store, which isn't an option for me. Long story short, it's a gift and the person buying it is half a country away. And it's bs that I'd have to wait even longer, due to their crappy system haha.

Really makes no sense and I agree with you. Why did I have to split my order to get both, ATT didn't even know.
Good luck.
Having a lot of problems getting the phone as well. Tried to pre-order it online only to have it either give me an error, or give me a *$399* price instead of $299. On-the-phone reps had no clue, told me I could go to a store to preorder it. Store had no clue, said there's nothing in their system about it. "We won't sell out, just come in on the 9th and get it here." URGH. Such a giant waste of time.
Reps told me to come in as well. I asked if they thought there would be a line guy said usually not for samsung. I asked what time they opened he said 9 I said ill be here at 8.

You'd be doing whats called an alternate upgrade. Basically upgrading your dads line to the note 2 then putting his original phone back on his line and putting the equipment on your line (note 2) if his old phone did not need data before it won't add data. I do these at least once a day with no complications. It's incredibly easy and done more often than regular upgrades are. And you shouldn't have to call and cancel anything. Just have the associate doing the upgrade make sure and show you that your dads original equipment has been returned to his line.
I wish the employees at my lo Al vest buy could figure out how to do an alternate upgrade. I tried to do one last month on my wife's line and none of them could figure it out. I just took the phone to an att store after I left best buy to get it taken care of.

You might have an incompatible rate plan code. Apparently I had an old rate plan with an old code that the instant savings discount didn't recognize. I got all of this info from someone on AT&T live chat. They told me to call Premier and tell them to update the code and that they'll know what I'm talking about. 5 minutes later I was able to get the $100 discount and my preorder was in.

Dumb s? Really now...look at your own GD website. It doesn't give the option to upgrade to unlimited LTE, it just gives the option to not CHANGE anything. It does not clarify if that will upgrade to the unlimited LTE add on.
Look at your own site before *****ing. No wonder no one takes Best Buy seriously lol...
As for everyone else, I got a higher tier customer service, and they can't figure it out. It's basically FUBAR'd. In more detail, they said that the order isn't even making it through. That they, for some reason, don't believe I'm me. So I'll have to take care of it through a bit more complicated way.
Good luck for anyone else trying to order from ATT. I went on their forums, and I'm not the only one dealing with this hassle lol.

Heh, just got off the phone with support. We tried two different credit cards, both are empty not used very often, and it denied both then locked the account. She said I'd have to go to a store to show two forms of id to unlock the account. Yea, their system is ****ed up.
Preordering is a major waste of time. Yet another advantage of not being a iPhone user is not having to order early just to try and get it delivered day 1.
I can see certain situations where you might want to buy online and have it delivered to someone half a country away as a gift, but on the whole there is no incentive to do it.
The phones will be in stock unless their delivery didn't arrive on time. As great a phone as the Notes are, they are still in a fairly niche market. Not many people like the idea of this massive phone. People still freak out when they see me pull my phone out. My buddies will give me even more crap with the bigger screen when I get mine in a few days.
Best Buy handles everything very quickly. If you have a standalone Best Buy Mobile location near you, go there. My experience has always been better there, but that's just my experience. Less lines, less crowded.

That reminds me. I need to call geek squad again. They've been double charging my card for my protection plan every other month or so. I think this will be call number 9 to get them to fix it, again... :silly: Started when my OG Droid's touch screen died, and verizon wouldn't do anything to help me out, so I ditched them and went back to at&t. Got the Dell Streak because the Atrix wasn't out yet. 29 days later the Atrix dropped, so I swapped over to that. They "canceled" the protection plan and started it up on the new phone, but the Streak plan is haunting my account. It just won't go away. The geeks at BB can't do anything, I always have to call their customer support.

Best Buy Recall Process?

Let me put on record, that my Note 7 has been awesome, not a single problem, unlike other posts I've seen here and around the net, my battery life has been AMAZING! Like 3 1/2 hour convo on the phone last night and only suffered a 10% battery drain amazing, I have yet to see this phone go below 49% after a full days use (work and using it at home to watch videos and surf the net.)
UI has snagged here and there but quickly fixes itself and the battery hasn't even remotely gotten warm during charging (Charge all night at home on Samsung Fast Charger Wireless Stand and the few times I've charge at work for a few minutes, its been on the original non fast Samsung charge disc) and it hasn't gotten even warm with a chunk of Gear VR play (Decided to lay low on the VR play since the recall though lol) so needless to say, I'm loving the Note 7, its sad to see anyone else have a different experience.
With that being said, I don't want to push it, as far as I'm reading it seems there doesn't exactly have to be a warning sign for the battery to just go up in flames, and I guess if I don't have to I'm not gonna chance it happening. And when Samsung said within a week or 2 the replacements would be available I was all about holding on to it in the meantime, but it seems that the replacements aren't gonna be ready in that time frame. And I'd prefer not to burn my house down lol.
So my question is to anyone who had to exchange their Note 7 at Best Buy, I know we have to deal directly with whoever we purchased the Note 7 from and I'm sure I'm not the only one who grabbed mine at Best Buy on launch day.
Did they do an exchange and are they offering a "Loaner" phone?
According to AT&T whom I just spoke with, they stated that Best Buy SHOULD exchange my device and give a Loaner Phone like an S7 Edge or something to use in the meantime, and if they don't then I need to call AT&T on the phone and have the Best Buy employee speak directly to the AT&T rep ... sounds simple right? Well anyone who has ever dealt with BB knows they are usually hard to deal with, and I've read posts stating that some BB stores were pretending like they didn't even have a recall notice and denying the customers Note 7.
So i figured before I waste my time and come within inches of wanting to choke out a blue shirt from pure frustration, I'd see if anyone here has had success in exchanging their Note 7 for a LOANER phone, that when once the new Note 7 batch arrives we can swap back out?
Thanks for any help!
Here is their Note 7 recall webpage (which will be handy when you bring the Note 7 into their brain dead staff who'll have no clue)
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/clp/galaxy-note7-information/pcmcat748302046994.c?id=pcmcat748302046994
Exchange current Galaxy Note7 device with a new Galaxy Note7 (when product becomes available).
Exchange current Galaxy Note7 for a Galaxy S7 or Galaxy S7 edge and replacement of any Note7-specific accessories with a refund of the price difference between devices.
Return your Note7 and receive a full refund.
3 options, but no loaners.....
I have two Note 7s purchased and i'm waiting for restock before doing battle with them.

Yeah, I read that prior to posting, But AT&T assured me they will offer me a loaner, but again anyone who's dealt with BB knows that they run rogue and do their own thing, and AT&T has always been disconnected from how BB runs. But I'm in the same boat as far as just keeping it, I love the phone and just want to get a new certified one and move on to enjoying it for what it is, I'd do a loaner and have a new phone to play with if the process was gonna be smooth, but it NEVER is with BB. lol you said it perfect ... "doing battle with them" every time I deal with them i leave the store mentally and physically drained, and yet they keep getting me back in because of the damn pre-order promotions they always have ...
Yeah same but I also like just going into some place and buy something instead of waiting around for delivery. The AT&T people may be trolling you tho..... Since BB does not say loaner it's hard to say cause they all run rogue of store policies. I would... Give the cell area a preemptive call and ask for the manager and ask him directly. Also as a primer to make sure they are aware that they are still involved in this process and not tell you deal with Samsung. I've been reading all I could about this soap opera and seen someone say that their BB did give them a loaner, again, going against the grain (and no way to confirm internet statements at times).
Our Notes are running fine, last all day long, and have no user installed battery drain or lag.
Keep us (me) posted.... I'll do the same when it comes time.

Agreed, I think a call ahead to BB is the first step. But even that is a 50/50 shot of BS lol.
But yeah, I am the same way, i don't like dealing with the mail if I don't have to. Packages get lost or kicked around or stolen or get held at a FedEx or UPS location over the weekend sometimes. So I just prefer to walk into a store and leave with the product in hand, and BB seems to really be the only place to do that outside dealing with the carrier stores, it just comes at a cost lol. But the same frustrations can be said for reps at the AT&T corporate stores. It's a no-win situation really.
But I've also read mixed reviews on BB about the whole recall process so far, some had no issues, some got no where, so I figured I'd ask for some advice ahead of time. Worst case scenario I'll just keep enjoying my Note 7 until the new stock comes in ... lol which isn't a bad option.
But again thanks for the help man, i appreciate it and I'll def post up how this venture plays out, maybe it'll help someone like me looking for answers.
At Best Buy there no loaner phone. The exchange to Edge or S7 is permanent and the full return might not be available anymore. What they want you to return will vary from store to store.
BestBuy is not giving a temp phone. They are either giving you a full refund, or you move to the S7 or S7 Edge or wait to get a new Note7 when that comes available.
honestly, I wonder if us in the US will wind up getting replacements, because if Samsung isolates the batteries to the Exnyos models, they most certainly wont recall the US market Snapdragon ones.

Right, the problem is, I'm not sure I can get the transaction completely reversed through best buy then walk into an AT&T and have them give me a loaner phone, since I reversed the upgrade at best buy.
Pretty sure you'll be stuck at your temp phone.

Exactly
I purchased my Note 7 from Best Buy on Aug. 19 via an AT&T Next trade-in of my Note 5. On Sep. 4, I returned the Note 7 to Best Buy under the recall. They coordinated with AT&T and then sent me over to a nearby AT&T store to get my interim phone (S7 Edge). I now have the option of either keeping the S7E or exchanging it for the N7 when the new ones are available.
(As for that choice: the S7E and the N7 are both great, though I like the N7 slightly better. So I'm planning to exchange--unless the N7's sound/vibration-feedback-lag problem still hasn't been fixed by then, in which case I'll keep the S7E instead.)

Best Buy is sending out emails that pretty much state their webpage... just to add to the thread and hope you guys receive too.
They mention "getting registered for a new Note7" so *sigh* i'm going to pay them a visit tomorrow and see if they even know they have this list.
Registered at lunch at my Best Buy in Whitehall PA. They are handling it similar to preorders. Has a registration process etc. You will basically get a preorder email once your registered and then it's first come first serve to those registered as they come in. They stated Staten Island, some NYC and New Jersey Best Buys got their replacement shipments today and that they are assuming we will get ours locally in a day or so.
Just passing on the info

So, stopped by my local Best Buy and spoke to the mobile manager who stated that all I needed to do was go to that BB Note7 page and enter my email address and that's it. Once they arrive I'll be notified and I can exchange. He said possibly next week but who knows for sure.

I returned my Note 7 to Best Buy, then went to an AT&T store to get an interim S7 Edge. Best Buy was on the phone with AT&T for an hour working out the details. Then it took another hour for the AT&T store manager to call headquarters to work out the remaining details. But it did happen, at least in this instance.
Went to Best Buy and told them I wanted to exchange. Took my order, gave me a pre order reservation form and also received an email confirming the order was placed like any other order. Said new shipments were imminent (I won't hold my breath) gave me back my phone and said to exchange when new phone arrives. We'll see how it goes. They did mention the Sept 30 date but the form doesn't. Believe me, I will request full refund if that date isn't met.
Not sure if this was the correct procedure BB is supposed to follow but as I said as 9/30 approaches I'll just ask for an immediate refund.

Pre-order a replacement? So if I don't swap to a loaner or don't go into a bestbuy I won't get a call for a replacement? I put my email on their website to be notified as few days ago also.

Verizon refused to give loaner phone said to keep using until new ones arrive.

I got a message from Samsung last night to power down my phone immediately and take it to my carrier's store and get a replacement S7 or S7Edge. If I choose to stay with the note they were to provide loaner phones until the new Notes arrive. Verizon told they are doing no such thing and pick another phone or keep using this one until the new ones arrived.
I think this may have been ordered by the CPSC. Here is the link : http://www.samsung.com/us/note7exch...=7731125&CID=eml-mb-cph-916-1199-emailversion
I wonder if Verizon will take responsibility if MY house burns down?
I talked to two techs on chat and both said I would be provided loaner phones.
I am not very happy right now and want to report them the CPSC.
Costco is not giving loaner phones.

Hey bro, sorry to hear about your misfortune. Sucks that everyone is getting yanked around with nobody from Verizon or Samsung being on the same page. It's irritating and super frustrating to waste your time going down there to be turned down for a loaner when that's what is strongly recommended. I was irritated by the lack of real detail and guidance from the start of all this. I contacted Tami Erwins office, the Executive VP of Verizon Wireless. They still had no real guidance for any of my questions (sad they can't even offer more assistance) but maybe if you have time and want to contact them, maybe they can provide you even more assistance then they did me or at least maybe it will force them to get their asses in gear if more people contact them.

There is a contact link to submit your grief / suggestions. Hope this helps in some way. I'm sticking with my Note7 till they get the new batch in.
Thanks for that info. I will send them an email, but I am still gonna call and try to escalate the situation.
I don't think I should have to turn off my phone and sit there with idle cell service I am still paying for. Plus I need my phone.
They said I could exchange it for any phone in the store.... I wounder if they would give me the Droid Z with projector accessory? LOL

Yup! I got that too, I was contacted within one business day later (2 days ago now) and it was a member of Tami Erwin's team to "handle" my matter for her. Yet....nothing was handled, I wasn't offered any real answers for my 7 or so questions, I just kept being told that they aren't sure when new batch Note7's would be in. I asked questions like would there be a 'line' of sorts to get in for those who wanted a new Note7. I asked if the Note7 would be put on sale to the the public as well as for those who want to exchange or if first they will hold back all new Note7's specifically for the recall and exchange then once we are all taken care of, then put the Note7 on sale to the public. I asked a few more questions and none of them were really answered, it's been frustrating to not get any answers.
I am still on the phone with an agent and she spoke with her supervisor and she is telling me that I can go into the verizon store and exchange the phone for any phone and then when the new Note 7s come in I can do another exchange. She is telling me it won't affect my BOGO rebate..... I don't know if I trust that. I stand to lose $672.
Just got off phone with rep. She said that she noted my account to allow an exchange and then another exchange when new Note 7 comes out. She said I would have to do this at Costco though. She also said this would not affect my rebate. However the guy at Costco said this would kill my rebate. But she noted my account so I hope it sticks, getting on chat support with rebate center now.
What a cluster F for everyone involved.
Just got off phone with rebate center and he verified (through earlier meeting with his supervisor this morning) that the rebates will still be honored if you use a loaner phone temporarily.
So, off to convince Costco to loan me a phone. Which should I try out?
Ha! Costco said they got an email on how to handle loaner phones. Dial 611 on your verizon phone, tell them you have a Note 7 and need a loaner phone and they will overnight you one. Trying now, will report.
There is no loaner phone really. Verizon allows you to return your Note, cancels the dev contract if you have one, gets you into a new phone and promises to allow you to go back to the Note when available. With conditions.
You get a $25 store credit for accessories.
You get to trust Verizon for the flip back to Note7.

The Costco Kiosk is an independent company and doesn't follow Verizons policy. I could lose the BOGO if they switch to another phone.. Anyway, Costco had no clue what to do and they are gonna call me tomorrow. I have Verizons ear on twitter right now. DMing them at the moment.
I want Verizon to handle the whole thing and to accelerate my rebate so I don't have to worry about losing it.
If you all think that Samsung's notice is of any value to Verizon you are mistaken.
Samsung's notice states that you can bring your Note7 back to your reseller and get a J SERIES phone to use in the interim until the Note7's are back in store available.
Samsung's notice states you will receive a $25 in store or bill payment credit from your carrier.
Verizon's approach has been you can chose the phone of your liking.
They will deactivate the Note7 device contract and activate the new device contract so if you do not return for exchange it is your keeper. You have 14 days from the date of availability to return for your Note7.
You can use that phone until the Note7 arrive for replacement. It is actually your new phone if you do not return within the specified time.
You will get $25 to use for accessories in store only.
I asked about the BOGO. BOTH phones must be returned presently. What this means to you is based on how far along your ownership of the phones is.

The BOGO deal links the two phones together so yes, it would seem you can, unless you bought them on a 2 year service contract. That contract is separate from the devices, or device contract.
A cancellation fee on the service contract probably would be needed if you signed one. The network is not exploding, just the phones...
I bought the phones specifically because of the Bogo deal so I could use that money to pay off Sprint. Now no one wants to give me a loaner phone or exchange my phone till the Note 7 comes out. And no one if sure if I will still get the BOGO. If I could jump ship right now with no penalty I think I would.

Also, I had to get past the initial sales person and to the manager for a "loaner" to be made available to me. The salesperson claimed I should shut the phone off and activate another phone in the meantime. I claimed I had a Chat message with Verizon Online that offered a "loaner" and I had no other phone to use as I traded in my old one. Only then was the "loaner" made available to me.
And only at the very end of the process was the $25 store credit made available to me after I asked. The salesperson needed to confer with the manager on this as well.
So a note of caution to you all. Get to the manager and get assurances because some of the sales staff are way in the dark.... So far in the dark that my "salesperson" didn't even know the Note7 had an Edged screen.....LOL

Not sure how my last post quoted you but anyways...
It s best to wait for the Note7 to be available so there is a clear path to another Note7. You will have legal standing to fight them if they refuse the BOGO to you. Small claims court is free to you and you would certainly win.
See, you did not purchase a Device ID, you purchased a defective device so it will not matter if the Device ID is the same as long as you go with another Note7 replacement. This is pretty simple stuff really. I would not worry except while charging in the meantime of course.
Wow! I just called Verizon about my Note 7 that I purchased on line through my business account, and they really offered no loaner. They said that I was free to activate one of my older phones that I previously had on the line. When I said that was not possible, I was told that if I noticed no overheating on my Note 7, I could keep using it and just call them back if I ever did notice any overheating, and they would then let me swap it for another Galaxy phone. I am very surprised that they are not being more proactive on this.
I sat on hold for 35 minutes last night before I gave up and again 15 minutes just now. I can't even get a live person on their website chat, only the automated BS.

Refund Note 7 but keep upgrade

Has anyone talked to Verizon about returning the Note 7 but keeping the upgrade until a new phone comes out? Everything out now just doesn't suite my needs, and I don't want to buy an 8 month old S7 Edge that isn't going to replace my Note 5 or 7.
I chatted with Verizon, and was told that if I simply returned the device, whatever I activated on the line (even my old Note 5) would effectively x-out my upgrade even if it wasn't a brand new phone or an upgrade.
Now, one interesting thing is the upgrade is on my wife's line, but the phone is on my line... So question 2, would that work the same?
That's ridiculous. How would activating an old phone be using up the upgrade. I'm going to call myself in a few and see what they say because in my case. I no longer have my old phone so I'm buying one from someone this weekend to be able to activate it in place of this note 7. Dammit what a mess this entire thing has been.

I agree, it's BS when everything else fails to compare. If that is the case, I'll buy an iPhone 7 plus and ebay it.
Ok I just got off the phone with Verizon cs. The rep I spoke to was real nice and she knew her info.
I asked her if I activate my old. Phone will I still have my upgrade and she said YES.
She says I can upgrade at anytime.
I then asked since Verizon canceled the contracts what to keep me from staying with my phone and not returning it. She said EVENTUALLY THE COMPANY WILL HAVE AN AUDIT AND THEY WILL THEN SEE THAT THOSE PEOPLE WHO STILL HAVE THE NOTE 7 HAVEN'T RETURNED THEM AND WILL EVENTUALLY BE BILLED FOR THE PHONE VIA WHICHEVER WAY YOU HAD YOUR PHONE PAYMENT SETUPLIKE. For instance i was going to pay monthly on mine for 2 years and if I keep the phone eventually when the phone is caught in the audit they would Then proceed to charge me monthly again for the phone.
Oh and something interesting she mentioned is when I originally swapped my old. Note 7 for this newer supposed safer note 7 that they didn't have me sign a new agreement. So basically there's nothing tieing me with this phone to them. But once again all it would take is a audit. Which they will eventually have done and they would flag it. I'd have to sign or return phone and be charged etc. Hopefully this answers some of your guys questions. I know it answered all my questions by calling.
I'm going back to my old phone. Getting all my refunds and upgrade next year when a hopefully. Newer better note 8 will be out.

Yep, I went to a high volume brick and mortar here in Jacksonville and confirmed the same. I'm going back to my old Note 5 and will return this to a store for a refund. No stylus or 5.7" screen is a deal breaker for me at this point. I really want a microsd slot, but I'll just have to deal for now.
