[Q] Car Mode use Waze for navigation - Verizon Galaxy Note 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anyone know of a way to use WAZE for the navigation app in car mode? Looks like the only choice is Google Maps or an app on Samsung's app store.

...What they asked... re Car mode
Just putting a shout out to say I have the same question. I just switched from Droid Razr Maxx to a Note 4 (I'm giddy happy too). and the car mode there gave me a submenu into which I could put Waze, my favorite music streaming apps, etc. We should probably be asking Samsung, anyone know an email address or forum to which we can direct this question?

[Q]Galaxy note 2 Android and AppRadio

Hi, I'm just wondering if there is a way to trigger Page Buddy on my note 2 when it connects to a bluetooth device, much like it does when you connect the headphones. My goal here is I'm using a Pioneer APPradio in my car and there are certain apps and widgets that I only use when I'm in my car (google Now would be nice! so I now traffic is on the way home and stuff), which is where Page Buddy would come in handy... my phone connects to the appradio through an MHL adapter, however it isn't considered a docking station so it won't trigger that page buddy event.
Doesn't seem like anyone has really looked in to this, or maybe I just couldn't find any info on it. if anyone can point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
I kept digging info on how to do this and actually came up with something way better than pagebuddy, and that was just using a different launcher for my appRadio! So i have a total of 2 launchers, when i plug my phone to the appradio I can have maps, google now, car widgets as well as music widgets and then when I unplug my phone from the appRadio I use tasker to swap launchers again so I'll get all my regular widgets and apps I use when the phone is in my hand. It works great and I absolutely love it! Just thought I'd throw it out there for people that might be interested on this kind of stuff
Nfc tag installed in your dock could probably make it easier.

[Q] Tablet Talk and All Share App

Anyone using an Andriod phone with their Note 8.0 utilizing tablet talk and all share app? I have an iphone 5 jailbroken which I use for free tethering however I was thinking of getting an andriod phone to take advantage of tablet talk and all share apps. I had a BB torch with the BB Playbook utilizing the bridging functionality and it was great! Wondering if I will have the same experience if I went all Andriod or Samsung. Any feedback would be greatly aprreciated. THANKS in advance!
I use TabletTalk all the time between my Note 8.0 and DROID Bionic. Unfortunately, in comparison to my Nexus 7,there seems to be more issues. The biggest one are the Bluetooth connection of one of the devices (not sure which one might be both) just kinda stupid working between the two devices. The device need a full reboot to connect. This is less frequent between a WiFi connection but still prevalent none the less.
It really probably had something to do with my phone or ROM though. Even when I Bluetooth tether, the device just craps out eventually.

I find after X amount of time Bluetooth has to be turned OFF and then ON again for it to actually work. Otherwise e.g. Tablet Talk connection to my S3 will fail, my keyboard won't be able to connect, etc. Don't ya just love Android and Samsung's Bluetooth capabilities? >_<.
Past that I've had no issues, haven't tried audio or tether yet.
AllShare Play / Link works fairly well and unlike the version on my phone, is still able to see regular DLNA devices (without making me go straight to e.g. Video Player or Gallery). Using it with MiniDLNA on Debian stable, it can be confused and refuse to playback some files with a Foo.jpg cover art file assocaited with Foo.m4v, etc. Third party solutions for DLNA are widely available on Google Play.

[Q] Completely voice-controlled Nexus 7

Hey folks! I come to this forum seeking advice for a client.
In lieu of a recent tragedy, one of my clients has been paralyzed from the neck down... their family has purchased them a Nexus 7 for entertainment and has come to me for help setting it up. So far I've had minor success with apps like Dragon Mobile Assistant and Open Mic+ for Google Now but there are obviously a few barriers that are encountered in a situation like this. The goal would be to be able to do the following with the Nexus 7:
- Read books
- Listen to music
- Watch Netflix
- Play any voice-controlled games
So far I am unable to open a specific book, but Google Play Books opens just fine to the main menu. I am able to launch Spotify using Dragon, but there's actually no efficient way to pause the music with voice commands. You can call up the Dragon interface which pauses the music, but then the screen doesn't turn off. The story with Netflix is the same as the books, the main menu is accessible with voice commands but after that physical input is required. I also have been pretty unsuccessful in finding games that can be played with just the voice, does anyone know of something that doesn't involve yelling at your device?
So I know this post is a little nit-picky, but considering the situation there really isn't any other option. Personally, I am a network administrator and know almost nothing about the ins and outs of Android devices other than what I use on my S4. I'm hoping the wizards here can help me out
Thanks for your time,
- Nick

[Q] Android Wear and Blackberry connectivity!

Hi!
Someone tried to connect SW3, or another smartwatch with android wear OS, with an blackberry phone?!
I would like to return at BB, but at the same time i don't want to lose my Sony SW3.
Thanks!
P.s. I am sorry for my English! :crying:
If this is a relatively new BlackBerry, I think someone got android apps to run on the OS. I would start by trying to sideload the wear app.
Edit: here is a link.
https://supportforums.blackberry.c...want-to-run-Android-Apps-on-Your/td-p/2784957
I searched and i found that , for now, problem is that google play service isn't supported by BB os, so Android wear not work...
Yeah, I was worried about that. I do not know much about BlackBerry, but on locked devices, people have found a way to add Google play services, but it is a pain. What would be more likely is either a native port, or android port of the Apple apps. That is much more doable. Does your phone support bluetooth low energy? If not, it won't happen at all. Sorry.

I have a Blackberry Passport and a SW3, and while the Passport can pair with the watch, I haven't been able to get the Android Wear app to run on the phone (requires Google Play Services). Keep in mind, I haven't spent much time trying - user Cobalt on Crackberry has a patch that might work (http://forums.crackberry.com/androi...lts-official-google-apps-landing-page-965257/)
As a workaround, I leave an old Android phone sitting at home on Wifi and the watch is able to connect to Wifi hotspots and get notifications. Doesn't work with calls or texts, but I am happy enough to keep the watch.

Thanks for reply but i search a method to connect the wear directly to the phone, even if I lose some functions like google voice, wifi or many other that for me aren't important.
I want that wear shows calls, sms, mail, tabs of runtastic or endomondo and so on.

I appreciate it even with some limitation.
Thank you.

Android Auto Funkiness

Anyone else using a Note7 with Android Auto? At first the connection to my car was intermittently dropping and then it was OK. I have Pandora, Slacker, and Play Music installed on my phone and active but the only one that shows up in the car is Play Music. I haven't played with it yet but there's not much to troubleshoot - they're either there or there not. My Note5 was 100% perfect with Android Auto so it's definitely something on the Note7 side.
No issues so far but I also don't use those two programs. Perhaps uninstall and reinstall those two programs in the meanwhile?

HTC 10 user here, and have the same issues as you.
I stabilized the BT connection by deleting the pairing on my radio and phone, then plugging in the USB C cable and allowing the car to autopair them together.
I have Play Music and Amazon Prime Music installed, both supporting Android Auto. However only Play Music shows up for me. This was the case on my S7E as well, but not my Note 5. At this point I suspect it's related to the SD820 and/or devices shipping from the factory with 6.0.1. I've been through factory resets more times than I can count, and the same thing happens.
Apps that are restored (IE - Smart Switch) are not showing up on AA... You can uninstall/reinstall and they will show back up.
I tested this for naught im sure while in the chickfila drive thru....

Oh well, Play Music it is. You can open apps from Recent Apps and Pandora and Slacker play fine through the car when controlled from the phone. But the steering wheel controls don't work. So we can only hope that (in my case) when AT&T pushes an update out in six months it gets fixed. It would be great if the Android Auto app on the phone could be the fix but if the problem's been around since the S7e it's unlikely that alone is the issue.

This is interesting, and I'll have to test this when I get back home tomorrow. From the look of your Hazard button, you have a Sonata like me, and I do restore apps through Google on device setup, or Titanium (app only, no data).
Why yes.... I love my Sonata Limited.
And trolling!

I've got all 3 of these on my phone and all work fine from the start in AA. The only AA issue I've encountered is that when on a call I can't figure out how to get it to show the dialer pad. When on a conf. call I get options like to tap *60 to stop the God awful wait music and to hit # after I announce my name. It's weird. I think it's that AA hasn't had an update in a bit so the dialer from the Note 7 isn't fully recognized. I dunno. But 99% of AA works for me.
BTW. I'm using a Pioneer 8100NEX which I doubt makes a diff as the AA server that the phone app connects to is the same in every car on the market and the head unit itself runs Android 4.4.2 just as my wife's '16 Accord does.

My Note 7 will connect and pandora maps and everything works, the only problem I have is when I am replying to text or whatsapp messages I press the voice button and it only gives about 2 seconds to respond then it stops and it will 90% of the time not even get what I'm saying properly and say something random, i've done complete reinstalls, using factory cable and can't figure out for the life of me how to fix, oh in a 2017 elantra limited

Uninstall Android Auto and delete your Bluetooth pairing. Then make sure Google TTS is set to the default on your phone, if Samsung TTS is trying to interfere, you will have this issue. If you cannot disable Samsung TTS, you may need to use Package Disabler Pro from the Play Store to do it for you. I had to do it on my Note 5, but not the S7 Edge.
Once that is done, reinstall Android Auto and then let the USB connection do the pairing for you.
