Well i put the stock one back and wiped cache and dalvik and no problems. Put the one i made back (v2) and was able to record a 4k 5 minute video and 20 minute 1920x1080 video with 0 problems. I think heat was part of the issue before

Version 3 is out!

Hey Kev nice to see ya over here. Gonna be making some sick boot animations?

Does this just affect the stock camera app? I am using focal, would I see any benefit to this?
just curious, what do you mean by less juddering at night? like, a higher framerate when in low light situations when taking pics? bc mine's just as slow as before.
or did you mean videos? it's still shooting lower than 30fps..i'm getting around 17 or so. i wish there was a way to force FPS in all lighting
question, is there a way for you to up the quality of pics taken during recording? they're only like 500kb and i remember reading like 1mp somewhere. they're really bad.
also, how about panorama mode? is there a way for you to up that quality? panorama is really low stock as well.

@op - does the flashable zip file intentionally place camera.msm8974.so in the /system/hw folder (as structured in the zip file)? i ask because on on my att G2, the file camera.msm8974.so is located in the /system/lib/hw folder. (i typically create backups of files replaced by custom mods). thanks!
Test ISO image
This is a test image one could print out to compare before and after changes.
Without having a setup that we can really 'pixel peep' accurately it's hard to determine if what we are doing is improving or worth improving.
Anyway, hopefully we can set up some tests to compare the different improvements and get this camera performing decently. My feeling at this point is that LG needed to rush the G2 to market to beat the iPhone 5s/5c and Note 3 so there are some rough spots on an otherwise nice gem of a camera. Until LG devotes some time to improving the issues let's keep up the good work!

[Cam mod] Increase Bitrate to 80 Mbps/160Mbps!

INCREASED BITRATE OF 4K VIDEO
PLEASE MAKE A BACKUP, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE
I take no responsibility if:
- Your phone causes a nuclear explosion
- You run out of storage space because of over-use
- Your phone overheats and melts
So, since I had some free time I went ahead to try increase bitrate of 4k Video with success, 80Mbps now works.
I haven't tried any higher yet or not.
I DO NOT suggest anyone use the 160 mbps version, as this equates to ~1.2 GB per minute of video unless you want super duper ultra mega explosive destructive sd card filling quality.
Requirements:
- Xperia Z1 / Z1s / Z2
- Stock Sony ROM, probably based on 4.4.4 and deodexed with Superuser mod
- Camera mod with 4k video already flashed, the one by Chocolatetrain is a good one:good::good:
- Common sense
Someone please confirm if this works on Z2 or not
FAQ:
Does this work on a device that's not the Xperia Z1/Z1s?
I don't know, I haven't tested it. It probably will work on Z2.
Does this work on AOSP?
No
Are you gonna reach Infinite bitrate or what?
IMPOSSIBRU. Video quality isn't bottlenecked by bitrate that much at high values, therefore no need to increase any further.
Instructions:
1. Download attached ZIP (80 mbps one preferably)
2. Flash away in recovery
Increased bitrate for 1080p @ 60 fps timeshift video + 4K UHD - 80 Mbps
Original post:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=54805924&postcount=17
Please thank the amazing TheEndHK for this modification!
It's completely extends my mod to include timeshift and 1080p60.

1. Flash in recovery

Update: 110 Mbps video bitrate, trying higher. Seems pointless, but it's for the lols.

I've already mod it personally for [email protected] and TimeShift Video both at 80Mbit/s now, I just tested all working correctly.
Copy them into /system/priv-app and set the right permission and remember reboot to recovery clean cache and dalvik cache. The SemcCamera.apk comes from Chocolatetrain's V7 8MP and SuperVideoCamera.apk from OP mod(80M 4k ver). Should work on both 4.4.2 and 4.4.4.
You guys please download both apk. SuperVideoCamera.apk only handle 4K and Timeshift stuffs, no [email protected]

Please feel free to make a flashable zip for them #2, I don't have time to do that...lol
I've done some testing about high bitrate but it mainly improves the outdoor quality while indoor sure got improvement but not very significant.
720P is still 720P even boosted the bitrate to 80M the TimeShift result still not decent though more acceptable now.
I think 4K 160M still does very slightly improvement but will only happens at outdoor with real good direct sun light, not worth for that file size. People will need a fast 64GB SD card with 20MB/s write speed to handle it.
I don't know our s800 does support up to 160M. Actually, I've tried to mod the 1080p in the past but got artifacts when I reached 90M and anything above 90M seems will drop frames. I'm real surprised the 4K works well under 160M. I think the coding in 1080P(not sure about 720P) doesn't use the whole CPU potential.

[MOD][OxygenOS] Custom camera HAL with 4K video recording [Dec. 20, 2015]

Code:
/*
* Your warranty is... still valid?
*
* I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
* thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
* do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM
* before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if
* you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.
*
*/
Installing this mod will give you the ability to record 4K videos on OxygenOS. This mod is only designed to be used with OxygenOS and ROMs that are based off of OxygenOS.
It is a custom HAL I created from CAF's vanilla camera HAL sources. This is the same camera HAL that I use in my CM12.1 ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-one/orig-development/rom-kernel-unofficial-cyanogenmod-12-1-t3120259
Notable features:
HFR (high-framerate; a.k.a. slow-motion) recording at 60 FPS, 90 FPS, and 120 FPS for 720p, and 60 FPS for 1080p
1080p video recording with the front-facing camera
4K UHD and DCI video recording
Manual focus
Manual ISO control
Slow shutter (ranging from 1/5000th of a second to 2 seconds)
Focus works in HDR mode
More picture sizes than plain OxygenOS, such as 9.7MP 16:9
JPEG quality always forced to 100% for higher-quality images (JPEG quality seems to be capped in the OxygenOS camera HAL, resulting in images that appear overly-compressed)
Limitations:
4K DCI cannot be recorded with the CameraNext app (when trying to use 4K DCI on CameraNext, CameraNext records at 480P instead; this is a bug with CameraNext, not my camera HAL)
Installation instructions:
Simply download and flash in recovery.

Could you also fix the slow motion video recording?
120 fps merely records the videos at 47-49 frames per [Mod edit: No profanity please], which is completely [Mod edit: No profanity please] and not at all close to whatever the company promised about slow motion recording? Im begging you, if you can look into this matter because I have tried contacting support for OnePlus and Cyanogen but no help!
So please?

How can you tell the framerate that it's recording videos at?
I recorded a video with 120 FPS and it looked reeeeeaaaaallllllyyyyyyy slow when I played it back on my computer, so maybe it's already working fine.
EDIT: I'm pretty sure 120 FPS is working correctly... I recorded a video for ~5 seconds at 120 FPS and the resulting video said it was 1:25 long (though it was actually 21 seconds long). Android determines the video length based on the video's framerate, and it expects 30 FPS for 720P video, so it said my 120 FPS video was 1:25 long. 85 seconds (the reported length of the video) divided by 21 seconds (the actual length of the video) equals 4. 120 FPS/30 FPS = 4, so there were 4x as many frames, aka 120 FPS worked.
Something's weird with the reported video length, but other than that, 120 FPS works fine.
Added to OnePlus One index thread:
[INDEX] OnePlus One Resources Compilation Roll-Up
Well I flashed this over euphoria because I use the cm12s camera and it seems to have fixed the viewfinder freeze derp I'd seen happen a couple times prior. Awesomeness!

See that is the thing....it shouldn't happen like that!...nowhere in the camera it is said that it a slow motion thing....it is referred to as HFR denoting High Frame Rate! But its not the case once its saved onto the phone after recording...android should be recording and saving the videos at 120fps itself... And the video should be of 5 seconds if u recorded a length of 5 seconds. If our phone slow it down just to give us a slow motion feel then its not true slow motion!! If u check other phones including a moto x! It will record and playback back a video at 60fps and will slow down the parts according to your selection! But file is recording either at 59.97 or 60....I know because I've researched and have been in the video field for over 8 years now! So I can practically look at a video and tell is characteristics and in order to check the frame rate you can use media info on PC and MX player for android!
Please I'm begging you to look into this matter! As my primary reason to buybthe phone was the 120fps recording! Which is not even close to be good in terms of usability ! Please @Sultanxda please look into this!
Thank you

I looked into it and I have no idea how to change this behavior. Android does this by default at the framework level; Motorola's implementation on the Moto X is different because they made special modifications to the Gallery and Camera apps.
Thanks

Project Super Camera on Steriods -Note 5 Mod - Tmobile S6 Edge

SOMEONE PLEASE TEST THIS AND LET ME KNOW IF IT WORKS
Now the time has come after 3 years of fighting with the camera on the note 2, note 3 and note 4 trying to make it have unlimited recording limits (until space is full) is now POSSIBLE!
I have spent the last couple hours digging through and pinpointing the 1 thing that cuts off the 4k recording at 5 minutes and you are now able to record up to 1 hour in 4K. I may try to push it more later but this is a good start.
Instructions:
THIS IS NOT A FLASHABLE ZIP SO DO NOT FLASH THRU RECOVERY
1. Download the zip and extract the apk SamsungCamera4.apk
2. Download es file explorer and browse to system/apps/SamsungCamera4/
3. Make a backup of everything in that folder then delete everything in the folder
4. Copy over the SamsungCamera4.apk that you downloaded to system/apps/SamsungCamera4/
4a. (In V2) copy the media_profiles.xml to /system/etc and overwrite
5. set permissions to rw-r-r on the file
6. Reboot your phone
7. Once rebooted check to see if your camera works, once up look for KRM in the Camera icon to the top of the record button
8. If you see KRM then you have installed the mod successfully
If you have any questions please ask. I have recorded up to 35 minutes so far but ran out of space so please let me know if you can fully record to 1 hour. While this mod does unlock the full recording limits of 4k samsung has generously unlocked it already for 1920x1080 and below. That being said please do not use this mod for any illegal activity,
Also it will split each 4GB file into separate pieces- usually around 8 minutes-9 minutes

Some interesting information... the note 5 has a 20MP camera apparently because when u take snapshots it is around 5310x4000. Also when trying to change the resolution of slo mo to anything over 1280x720 I got garbled video so thats a lost cause.

New update broke 60 fps pro vídeo mode.

Hi.

Before the update if you select 2160p 60 fps in configuración and then you shoot in pro vídeo mode it used work but now pro vídeo is block to 30 fps.
Anyone with same problem?
Is there an app that alow to make 120 fps videos?
Wait, the recent update was what brought the pro mode to video, didn't it? Before it, there was no pro mode for video, so…

That was un the 04/09 update, and then i could shoot pro vídeo in 60 fps.
I got a new one the 05/14 that disables that option.
I hate this updates that take out features.
It didn't break it in mine. I have the Note 10+ 5G (Verizon)

Yes, that says there, but it only applies to normal video mode. If you record a video in professional mode it is saved at 30 fps.
Ok. Where did you change it on pro mode?

Nowhere. Before the update that toggle worked for all videos. Now the pro video is stick to 30 fps always.
I just tried it out and it still works for me at 60fps. Remember you have to manually set the frame rate to 1/60 just as you would in a real manual camera.
I updated yesterday.

I hate to burst your bubble. I recorded a short video in Pro Video with the above settings. I pulled up the metadata on my PC and it shows 60fps.

I didn't even do that. I recorded with the shutter set to auto.

On auto that's what it does, it sets it to 1/60 automatically.

Yeah. You are correct. I had good lighting and auto set it to 1/125 I set it to 1/30 and got 30fps.

The shutter speed doesn't determine the framerate of the video. It's related to how long the shutter stays open to allow light to enter. Setting the shutter speed manually to 1/60 or 1/125 doesn't mean your videos are going to be 60fps or 125fps.

Well technically yes. The shutter will open (1/125) 125 times per second. It won't save the file at that frame rate unless in slow motion mode but the shutter speed is related to how many frames per second are being captured, leveraging this is how anti flicker works .
Drop the shutter speed below your target frame rate and the video will save at the lowest shutter speed achieved, directly relating to frame rate.
Video and photography aren't the same, but very relatable. Try it.

I'm a photographer. I know how shutter speed, ISO, and aperture work. I had a brain fart thats all; I forgot that a shooting video on a digital videio camera is slightly different than shooting video on a film movie camera.. On a film movie camera (depending on model), you could shoot at 60fps with a 1/30sec shutter speed. The results would be rather interesting.
At any rate, 60fps is the max frame rate for the Note 10+ (for now).

As I said previously. Samsung did not remove 4K 60fps from the pro camera. You enable it in settings and you have to set your shutter speed to 1/60sec or faster. If you leave it on auto, the camera will select the best shutter speed based on the current lighting conditions. If you are wanting to shoot slow motion or super slow motion, you will have to use those cameras. As far as I know, there are no 3rd party cameras that will allow you to shoot at 120fps.
no i dont mean that screen shoot i mean screen from settings when you are in pro video mode..
