Req. unlock code from AT&T... - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note 4

I paid for my phone up front and will be requesting an unlock code from AT&T just as soon as my phone hits 60 days.
Once my phone is unlocked, i understand i can switch carriers... which other carriers will i be able to use aside from AT&T? At least with 3g speeds?
Also, once unlocked, will i be able to use cf auto-root to root? Thoughts on this?

You will be able to use any GSM carrier which use sim cards, and you should be getting 4G speeds with mostly any carrier.

No. Carrier unlocking and Bootloader unlocking are different things.

I called at&t a week ago and ask for the unlock code because I am travelling out of the country, and they refuse to give it to me unless I pay the remaining balance since I use attnext program, so I decided to order the code online instead ,within 5 hrs they sent me an email of the unlock code and works great, I am in the Philippines right now, works great with SMART telecom sim with 4g lte, just sharing haha

Free Unlock code is not possible to get for the Model ,So you need to pay for it...You can buy the unlock code from the site Unlocking4u.com and Unlock it from Network Lock.

yeah usually as long as you dont owe the carrier money still lol they will just give it to you, but some new models are locked in the us for a small time frame.
What are the advantages of having the device unlocked?
having your device unlocked allows you to use different carriers' sim cards on your phone. so if you're traveling internationally, you can still use your phone as long as you put a gsm sim card in it.
For those who have S-off and root, try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1232107
What Txdeathray said, just adding that if you are using it internationally, you can use a local SIM for what ever country you are in, meaning no international roaming charges. You'll still have international calls back to your home country, and since you're getting a new number from they country you are in, it will be long distance for them to call you too, but you won't have to worry about local calls or data roaming, which can be quite expensive.

sim unlock of AT&T in the middleaset

simple question, i have a friend in the US, he is about to get an AT&T contract, and he doesnt need a new phone, if i make him buy me a samsung galaxy s 3, would i be able to sim unlock it to work on networks in the middleast, like Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Israel?
if yes, how can i do that?

Yes you can get an AT&T GS3 unlocked (Just unlocked mine today), If your friend is an existing member of AT&T and in good standing he just needs to ask for the unlock code. I just used the online chat support and told them I was traveling to Europe for a few months and needed my phone unlocked. They needed my IMEI and they gave me the unlock code. The whole process only took 10 min or so. Then I went to a T-Mobile store and ask to borrow a SIM so I could enter the code (You need to put in a non-AT&T SIM card for it to ask you for the unlock code)
Now the question is will the phone work for your network. For that you need to know if it uses the same network bands. Here are the bands that the AT&T GS3 supports: GSM Quad-band: 850/900/1800/1900MHz; UMTS Tri-band: 850/1900/2100MHz; LTE Dual-Band: Band 4/17
Is your networks use them then most likely it will work but the only way to know for sure is to find someone who has used an AT&T GS3 on your respective networks.

There are places that sell the unlock codes for a small fee (around $30 I think). I don't know how well they work as I have never used these services.

It is better than the Transformer Prime I had but still has some issues. The screen is really nice though. In the end mine is going back as I have the new Galaxy Note 10.1 coming tomorrow. The S-Pen is a killer feature for me, I'm a student and being able to take handwritten notes on it trumps the Transformer's superior resolution.
I don't know if it can replace a laptop as I never got the laptop dock for it.

[Q] Unlocking a brand new phone never activated?

I just bought a brand new Galaxy Note 3 from a T-MOBILE store to use it with AT&T. The phone has never been activated before and I was wondering can I just insert my AT&T sim card and unlock it with the code that I have? or does the phone have to be activated first with a T-MOBILE sim card before I can unlock it to AT&T?
The region lock is kind of confusing me...

From what I heard it needs to be activated first. BUT, I think it needs to be activated if you plan on using it outside this region (country). I'd say give it a shot and see. If not... if it's not rooted, just take it back lol (j/k).
But I think the region lock stuff applies to international users, or those that want to use it internationally. Region lock I think is used to prevent people from selling these devices outside the country without it first being activated within the country... If I'm wrong, someone may clarify...

There is NO region lock if you purchased the phone
from a tmobile store, they region unlock all their
phones which need it before they sell you the phone.
Only the international NOTE 3 phone models have the
region lock intact and must be activated in the country
of origin with a valid sim card from that region or country.
If you purchased the phone at a Tmobile store then you have
nothing to be worried about, it's already activated and all it needs
is a valid active Tmobile sim card installed.
The Tmobile Note 3 does not come unlocked but Tmobile will
email you a unlock code with instructions if you request it. (free)
The Tmobile phone will not work with an AT&T sim card
unless you request an unlock code from Tmobile & unlock it.
(or using your valid unlock code if you have one)
The phone must have a valid tmobile sim card installed in order
to unlock it successfully.
After it's unlocked you can remove the tmobile sim card and
replace it with an AT&T or any other active sim card.
You must wait at least 14 days to request an unlock code
because that's how long you have to return the phone for
a full refund.
It's easy to unlock, takes less than 30 seconds.
Once unlocked it will work in any country or region.
Good luck!
So there's no region lock on 900T from t-mobile?

Got it from ebay...could be a dud!
tmobile is not just handing out the unlock code even if u did purchase it at full price. i just called them today myself. you have to have an account that has had atleast $100 put through it. i told them i dont have an account i purchased out right and should be able to get the code. they said it was the only way otherwise i could pay samsung or a third party company. finally im like wait my girlfriend has had a prepay acount for like 6 months. thats way over the 100 that they want so they transfered me to the prepay department and i explained to them what was going on. i confirmed the account information with them gave them my imei and they said that i will have an email with in 24hrs with the code. so now im just waiting for the email.
Great! and good luck!
If that backfires you can go to 3rd party such as Fastgsm.com or many others just look at the reviews 1st..

If anyone else tries this...
The phone must be activated on the t-mobile network for 40 days ($100 minimum) and be paid in full in order to get the unlock code.
I can't remember where I read that, but I also confirmed with a rep because I am considering leaving to a pre-paid service.
If not, you would have to use one of the other ways of unlocking the phone.

So that still stands as correct then. As you just piggy backed on your girlfriends account that has been active for well over 40 days, thus approving your unlock code.
I am only speaking as if you do not have an account. If you buy the phone straight up, in order to give the unlock code they want an account (note I didn't say the device itself, which in my earlier post did say. Oops.) that had been active for 40 days and at least 1 month payment. Otherwise everyone would just buy their phones from them and they would make little profit.
There are always ways around getting a code. As some people mentioned you can always tell them you are going to be over seas and need a code. I have even found that being nice enough, and getting the right person, you sometimes get lucky.

I don't believe so. However, I did unlock mine with a TW rom. What should happen is when you insert the non-TMO SIM, the phone should prompt for the code.

Has anyone tried to get the SIM network unlock code for free from T-Mobile?
I have had good results from them in the past, but I just saw this KB article: https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-14910
One of T-Mobile's requirements (in addition to account in good standing, device not on payment plan, no more than 2 unlocks per year) require that the device be active on the account for at least 40 days, so I'll need to wait before I try. I'm happy to wait a month to save $20, unless someone tells me it's never going to happen, in which case I'll buy from a third-party now.

Yep, just pulled out the best and that is the model. I'm on Android 5.1. Went into Connections, More Networks, Mobile Networks, Checked Mobile Networks and Data Roaming, Opened Network Operators, Select Automatically (Automatically Select Preferred Network), and Default Setup.

I just tried unlocking tonight, the online representative said it wasn't a T-Mobile device and contact Samsung to figure out "who originally manufactured my tablet." This despite the fact I have to deal with the stupid t-mobile jingle every time it starts up.
As far as I know the Tmobile variant doesn't come locked. Verizon isn't a true GSM network, they use the SIM for 4G LTE.
I've spoken to Tmobile many times and they say none of their tablet comes locked but who knows. Try an AT&T sim... if it let's you use it it means it's unlocked. There is no such thing as selective network lock. It's either locked or it's unlocked.
T-Mobile USA definitely SIM-locks subsidized devices (but you can unlock once paid off, or pay someone to do it). My P607t and my Tab S2 (817t) came SIM-locked.
