[Q] Wifi drops when on a phone call - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

UK model D855 with 4.4.2 v10h.
I notice that Wifi keeps getting disconnected when on a (3G?) call. I get notifications that the wireless is not responding, I get dropped to 3g data which works ok, but also sometimes it works absolutely fine and wifi stays active.
Any ideas on a) is it just me and b) troubleshooting tips if it is?
Addendum: when not on a call I have a 5x5 wifi signal. It also happens at home and at work on different wifi networks (Asus vs Cisco enterprise).

I have the Wi-Fi drop issues on my G3 as well. But sometimes, when I turn WiFi Off, and back on again, it just forgets every network that I was ever connected to. LG Does not know how to fix this problem, and resetting the phone does not seem to help either. Maybe it'll be fixed in a software update.

LG Optimus G With Rogers Weird Wifi Problem

So I am having some wifi problems. Like most I have 5 or 6 wifis that I connect to on my phone. My issue is that I will need to use my data and my phone's wifi is stuck on trying to connect to a wifi network that is no longer available. I can't turn wifi off or anything. My only fix is to restart the phone. Any clues?

Yes. I believe I'm experiencing the same thing.
Here's my situation, I have the Rogers LGOG (Not rooted) and the reception @ work is extremely poor. So I turn on wifi to connect. I'm able to connect to my corporate wifi, but when I leave to go between floors and I'm out of my wifi range and return, I'm not able to connect. WI-FI is ON and it keeps searching for hotspots, but I'm not able to connect and the only way for it to work again is to reboot. Now, this does not happen consistently, but it has happened a few times to where I'm wondering is this a problem with the OS or is it the phone.
Any thoughts on this to point me to the right direction would be greatly appreciated. thank you.
Same problem with F180K, but there an OTA update arrived yesterday saying "Wifi bug fix".
Cant tell if they really fixed it, cause im waiting for my flight, so cant test it right now.

I have a att Lg optimus G E970, I think I have the same issue, only solution is restart

[Q] WiFi Problem

Out of the blue, my WiFi stopped working. I know occasionally this happens and is usually fixed by simply turning WiFi off then on again our by unplugging the router for about ten seconds, but neither of these methods is working this time. This is different, I'm stumped. (By the way I have the SM-P600)
So, the error message I'm getting is, "failed to obtain IP address", then if I click, "RETRY" I get an error message that says, "Network disabled because internet connection is too slow." Which doesn't make sense because all my other devices on my WiFi network have no problems connecting and have no speed issues.
Really, really frustrating. Any help would really be appreciated! Thanks!
The same problems occurs frequently with my tab P-601.
But I have to restart the tab and it works fine. I have to use mobile data for internet connection instead of wifi.
I appreciate any help.
Anybody else have this happen?
I haven't had this problem on my P600, but have had something like it happen on other devices. I think the issue is that Android will remember and avoid WiFi APs with a poor signal. When I am on the fringe of my home WiFi the signal is weak and my network gets blacklisted. To clear the blacklisting I have to force the device to forget the network, the connect again as a new network.
Couldn't detect WIFI
I updated the Android 4.4.2 and since then my tablet couldn't find my WIFI.
My phone and my computer found the network normally but my tablet just showed some of my neihbors' networks. I tried to restart the tablet and reset the router but didn't help.
Now I tried changing he router's settings through my computer and set the frequency to a higher value and now my tablet finds and connects to the WIFI normally!

Intermittent WiFi disconnects

Has anyone been having any issues with the WiFi randomly cutting out?

Mine did it twice today, whereas my G2 would know to reconnect upon scan...
Hopefully this is just a one. time thing.

Hopefully your issue isn't as serious as mine is. I literally just got off the phone with T-Mobile and they will be sending me a replacement phone.

I had this issue with my first G4, but i sent that back due to damaged leather back i have had a couple times with the second one where the wifi acts funky, not a problem but def like wtf moments
No problem with disconnects here.
Mine definitely disconnects and reconnects randomly
My verizon g4 disconnects periodically. Should I be ordering a replacement?
I haven't seen this with my H811 G4.

Only had the phone a day so haven't seen this yet but i did get it randomly with my G3. I could never figure it out. A quick on/off of the Wi-Fi fixed it quickly. Router is Netgear Nighthawk. About 8 other Wi-Fi devices in the house and never seen it on anything else.
I've been seeing this on my H811. It's nothing major but it does cut off then quickly reconnect after several seconds.

Mine also does this on the T-Mobile version.
H810 here. My G4 seems to strongly - and I mean really strongly - favor mobile data. My house is festooned with wifi access points and yet my G4 often turns its wifi radio off and I have to manually turn on wifi, then manually connect to a nearby access point. As I move through the house, rather than connecting to an access point with a better signal, it shuts the wifi radio off, altogether.
The G4 has shut its wifi radio off while I've been in the process of selecting a wifi access point. It's shut its radio off right after I've selected the access point I want and while I'm booting up the web browser.
Today, at work, the G4 is continuing to seemingly randomly shut off its wifi radio. When I manually turn it on, then select the access point, I find the phone has forgotten the password.
Very frustrating.
As an experiment, I have now shut off mobile data, to see if that will coax the G4 to seek and maintain its wifi connection. But there's no way I'm going to spend my day turning off or on mobile data, wifi radio, etc. I'm already manually turning Location on and off, to preserve battery power.
had wifi issues on the 2 g4's i've had. sent first one back due to damage to back cover on arrival. Glad its not just me having wifi issues
Having these issues as well. Rebooting my router sometimes stops it from happening, but quite frustratingly, the phone gets very hot (and discharges quickly) as a result. Have had a hot, dead phone before.
Most of the WIFI routers have different type of connections G / N / B, The N type is not a !00% compatible with our G4, therefore I suggest you to change to B/N, after I change the protocol, I havent see the WIFI issue so far.
I had Wi-Fi disconnects because I had turned on the advanced option to automatically swap to Mobile data on weak Wi-Fi signal. After that was turned off, the Wi-Fi worked as it should.

Where is it said that our phone isn't compatible with N?
From http://www.gsmarena.com/lg_g4-6901.php : WLAN Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, dual-band, Wi-Fi Direct, DLNA, hotspot
I found that disabling ipv6 on wlan0 fixed my slow wifi issue, but still getting the disconnects. (it reconnects automatically though)
http://i.imgur.com/HUDYd71.png - I have a script to disable ipv6 at every wifi connection.
Every instance of SManager is my wifi reconnecting randomly in the house yesterday at my desk.
I have had this issue on my H811 since new. It does it more on 5 Ghz than on 2.4 Ghz, but it still happens. It's more common at home with my Asus router than at work with the Cisco APs they use.
After the latest update I have noticed that the iPod touch I keep in the car disconnects from the hotspot on the phone way too often. This never happened with the previous build, but I also didn't have xposed installed before. Has anyone else noticed any issues with their hotspot?
I got an LG G4 on Friday in the UK and it is running version 10D.
I am encountering this issue and I am finding it extremely annoying - did anyone find a resolution?
It is so frustrating it is getting to the point where the phone will be going back for a refund. It does it at any location with WiFi I go to, so I know it isn't a configuration issue on my WiFi at home.
I'm having this issue too all of a sudden. First thing I noticed was excessive battery drain. But every few minutes it connects to a different ap in my house. Other phones and devices don't do this. Time to dig.

WiFi keeps disconnecting and reconnecting.

Title explains most of my issue but whenever I want to do anything on my phone the WiFi always keeps randomly disconnecting and reconnecting on my G4, when i go to my WiFi settings while its disconnected it just says the network is saved and then when i connect to it, it instantly disconnects. If anybody has any solutions its would be gladly appreciated.
I have the same issue. One additional info I have is if I look at wifi immediately when it disconnects, it shows something like "Avoided poor internet connection....." even though signal strength is Excellent. It feels as though LG reduced the threshold of developer options' "Aggressive Wi-Fi to Cellular handover". I have that option OFF.
I recently got a replacement Verizon G4 Hardware rev1 because of the constant horrible Qi Charging meltdowns. My new G4 seems to have a faulty Wifi module or something because my wifi will suddenly just stop working (even though still connected). I also get weird toast messages that is is disconnected/connected, when I am sitting a few feet away from my router.
My router is a newer AC router. The wifi analysis shows me on a good channel. None of my other devices (or previous G4s) have an issue.
I have 2.4 and 5ghz enabled so perhaps it is disconnecting and reconnecting to change bands. I haven't gave it much thought because honestlt I do this crap for work and been lazy. I think there is an option to use 2.4ghz only. That may prevent it bouncing occasionally.
I get the same thing. Very annoying

I just noticed this thread. My WiFi seems to get into a state where it does this too. What I've found is
1) it only does it when connected to 2.4Ghz WiFi. If I use my router's 5Ghz network it stays connected. Unfortunately the range of 5Ghz is not good enough for me to use this all the time.
2) it only happens when Bluetooth is enabled. If I disable Bluetooth then my WiFi stays connected. This is annoying to have to do and more of a workaround than a fix.
3) WiFi works perfectly in Safe Mode
I'd be interested to hear if this is the same for others who have this issue too.
Like I said, my phone seems to go through phases when this occurs, then (seemingly randomly) it fixes itself and works for a few days/weeks, but then it happens again. The state change seems to be triggered by installing/uninstalling apps but I can't make this happen at will.
Same issue here, very annoying. All other devices stay connected to WiFi just fine but this LG G4 keeps disconnecting and reconnecting. I have an Asus AC router. The phone is connected to the 2.4 Ghz band. Not sure what to do...the phone just got an update (marshmallow)...the router is updated and working fine with all other devices.
Me too. Even when signal is great. This is terrible.
I know this is a pretty old thread, but I was just having the same issue on my g6. I found that it was because I disabled some of what I thought was just bloatware. By enabling both the LG "SmartWorld" app and the at&t " Smart Limits" app I was able to get my wifi working properly again.
I am not sure which one was the culprit, but I hope this helps anyone else digging back for a solution.

Wifi network not found

Hi.
Since a few weeks I have a strange problem with my Wifi connection.
When I'm at home and turn on Wifi everything works fine for some time and my M9 connects to my Wifi. But after some time (haven't found a rule, sometimes after 1 hour, sometimes after 5 hours, etc) the wifi connection is lost and my network is no longer listed in the list of available networks. It also seems like the list of available networks is getting shorter the longer wifi is turned on.
If I turn of wifi and turn it on again after a few seconds my network is found immediately and the phone connects without any problems.
I'm not 100 percent sure but bluetooth seems to have almost the same problem and the phone no longer connects to my smartwatch until i turn off and on bluetooth. Sometimes it is also ok to turn off and on bluetooth to get my wifi back running.
The problem started to exist on lollipop and is also present on mm. I already did a factory reset but it didn't seem to help.
Anyone experiencing the same problem or has any clue what it could be? Maybe a hardware problem?
Kind regards,
TeQuiLLaXY
Perhaps a router problem ?? Or a service provider issue with WIFI ?
Does the device connect with other WIFI signals other than your primary signal ?
Just a few other areas to check beyond the device that can be overlooked...g

Hi gregsarg, thankfs for your reply.
The router doesn't seems to have a problem since other devices have no problem to connect to it. Service provider has nothing to do with wifi, the phone is not connecting to the wifi it has no problems accessing the internet via wifi when it shows it's connected. Also the connection can be established as soon as i disable and reenable wifi on my phone for about a second.
I don't have access to the other networks that are around my home so I can't check if it connects to other networks, it's just strange that the device does not show my network in the list of available networks after it has lost connection. If I disable and reenable wifi on the phone it immediately shows my wifi in the list of available networks. SSID is not hidden...
Could be hardware related...
And you could RUU back to stock and test again to rule out a software issue...g
