[MOD] Kev's Performance Tweaks v.2.0.8 ~~~ UPDATE: 11/23/2014 ~~~ - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note 3

Not that it really needs it... but...
Confirmed Roms:
VisionX US N3
TweakedN3 3.9+
HyperDrive RLS5+
DirtyUnicorn
LiquidSmooth
CM11 Nightlies
Let me know what roms you are using this on so I can add to this list please...

Make sure the rom you are on has the latest busybox installed.
Flash in whatever recovery you have, and it'll do the rest. This should work any Samaung device that are Android 2.3 and up, I only have devices that are HoneyComb and up, and it's been tested on them, and works great on them... TEST and USE AT YOUR OWN RISK
What does it do Kev?
Vacuum's SQLite every 4 days
Zip-Aligns all User Data APK's every 3 days (if you choose)
Cleans Caches, Logs, Tombstones, etc... every week
Tweaks Your systems I/O
Makes your Mobile and Wifi Networks faster
Bumps your Wifi scan to every 300 seconds (battery saver)
Enables some Dalvik VM Flags to optimize the loading and executing of all your apps
Enables Dalvik to execute in the Java JIT
Bumps your Dalvik Heaps a tad (let's face it... we got 3G of RAM, so why not?)
Moves your Dalvik to your /cache partition, leaving you a bit more room for more apps
Removes ext4 Journalism on your internal system storage (big time performance boost)
Forces your Launcher into Memory (yes this will take up a bit more RAM, however, your launcher will be much more responsive)
Remounts your devices system, data, and cache partitions explicitly, no updating timestamps, and asyncronous I/O calls
Tweaks your External SD Card read-ahead
Calibrates your Battery if it needs it
Enables true init.d support to devices that are bootloader locked
De-Bloats Note 3 Devices of Samsung, GApps, and Carrier Bloatware. NOTE: Don't bother using it if you've flashed a Note 4 or S5 rom
Logs most actions to /sdcard
But, why do I need it Kev?
In all honesty, you probably don't. Personally I wanted a little more oomph outta my device, so here we are... Not that there's anything wrong with the default, but me being on a locked bootload on my S4, I didn't get the luxury of being able to flash custom kernels to suit most of these needs
This is awesome Kev, how can I thank you enough?
Hit the thanks button.
Can I run it manually?
Sure. Grab a terminal emulator and type the following.
Code:
su
sh /system/etc/init.d/10KevsTweaks
sh /system/etc/init.d/11KevsDalvikMover
sh /system/etc/init.d/12KevsZipAligner
As with any mod you do to your device, make sure you make a full backup before you do anything, and as always... YOUR DEVICE'S WARRANTY IS NOW VOID
Click to collapse
You may use this, if you use it on a device other than a Samsung, make sure you edit the init.d script to match your devices '/system', '/data', and '/cache' partitions

Nice work dude! So far so good!

Same thing is happening like the auto rotate fix you made. Keeps getting stuck when I try to flash it m says it's using aroma which I can't use cuz I'm on safestrap with ATT. Am I doing something wrong?

I wouldn't think so.
To be safe for now, flash it without using the build.prop mods... do a nandroid backup, and then reflash with the build.prop mods.
Seems that those are the odd-balls with this for some reason still... though I have it setup to delete the existing lines, and write my tweaks in...
Also, next update, I am taking out the odexer... and probably the update after I'll be putting in the de-bloater... still sifting through the apks/ and associated lib files so it truly and smartly debloats

[ROM][JB][4.1.1][VLDLK4] Stock SGS3 TouchWiz ROM / Rooted / Debloated (12/06/2012)

This is a ROM based on Telus VLDLK4 JellyBean ( I747MVLDLK4 ) release. It's stock with the following changes:
- Rooted (Superuser app + su)
- BusyBox installed
- /data/app enabled
- Deodexed / ZipAligned
- Bootscreen sounds disabled.
- init.d support
- Debloated (Very big thanks to mrRobinson for his help with the debloating process. Check out his Aroma Ashaman debloater here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1732039).
There are many great ROMs here on XDA, however I wanted an untouched, purely stock S3 ROM without all the bloat. I have been on XDA for several years and have been lucky to reap the rewards of contributors' hard work, so I thought it was time to give back to the community. I hope others find it useful.
*** If you have any suggestions for changes / features / updates you would like to see, please let me know.
-= Supported models =-
Samsung Galaxy S3 (SGH-I747M) (Tested on Telus, but should work on others as well)
-= Notes =-
- A custom recovery is required to install this ROM (Clockworkmod, TWRP, etc.)
-= Advantages over stock =-
- No carrier bloat, most of the Samsung bloat apps also removed. (I have chosen to retain AllShare because it's a handy feature / service, and it's not really bloatware).
- Snappier, menus open faster, overall quicker UI experience.
- Battery life is improved.
-= Installation Instructions =-
1. Place ROM on SD card
2. Boot into Recovery
3. *** MAKE BACKUP *** (Always a good idea)
4. Factory Reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache, under mounts > system > Format /system
5. install ZIP
6. Reboot
7. Enjoy!

anyone notice their mobile network not connecting?
Mine always seems to cut in and out.
also how do we put the splanner widget back on it?
Everything is OK here as well as about 8 other devices running the rom on various networks plus the users that have downloaded it here.. Maybe it's a local issue you're experiencing with the network?

Possibly just my work. Been Home now and signal seems fine. I just find it weird that I have never had the issue before.
Hmmmm my camera is very blurry. I have reinstalled the app and it is still the same. Anyone else have this issue?

what modem are you using?
I was having a similar problem on blackjelly earlier, but i think it might have been related to my modem version. Before flashing any of the custom jb roms, i flashed the official JB update to update my modem.
Can I use this on my att gs3?

You shouldn't have a problem with it on at&t. You may need to enter the APN settings manually, but that's about it.

[CLOSED] Beta Android 4.3 US & CAN | Deodex & Odex | Now Rooted

READ THIS ENTIRE POST PLEASE
PLEASE PROCEED TO USE THE 4.3 VERSION LOCATED Android 4.3 JWR66V
UPDATED ROM IS MUCH MORE STABLE AND BATTERY LIFE IS GREAT.
Thanks to everyone for testing/using this one until now
This ROM comes from I9505 variant.
Luckily the only thing you will need to do is apply Loki patch if you require it for other ROMS.
If you are a CAN variant you can simply install the ROM with no other issues or steps.
IMPORTANT
User reports suggest that battery life is much better as well as working google wallet in the odex version, root should work for both.
Google Play 4.1.10 : Please manually update Google Play to prevent gps/maps battery drain, download apk and install as usual
There are two FactoryKeystring.apk's included and actively used by Android System, one is hidden and one is in System/app, removing one seems to improve battery life (must have root)
Do NOT change Dpi you will loose root and you will loose wifi. You have been warned.
WARNING
As always, i'm not responsible for your phone blowing up or bricking. Hell this is completely pre-release software that Google hasn't even published yet so you better be sure you're ready to take the plunge and accept that anything can happen and i assume no responsibility. this is all your choice.

WHATS DIFFERENT IN 4.3 FROM 4.2.2?
- Roboto font has been cleaned up see here
- "android.hardware.bluetooth_le" listed as a feature in the Android System Info app, suggesting Bluetooth Low Energy support is on-board in Android 4.3. This feature isn't listed on the Google edition GS4 review unit running Android 4.2.2
- Bluetooth tethering is present in the 4.3 ROM, while it's absent (bizarrely) in the 4.2.2-based GS4 GE unit.
- A new checkbox under Advanced Wifi settings allows Google's location service to scan for Wifi networks even when Wifi is turned off and not being used for wireless networking (likely part of Google's new approach to battery-friendly location services)
- Multiple options under "Monitoring > Profile GPU Rendering," as seen in this Google I/O video.
This lets you view a graphical representation of the time taken to generate a frame, and see whether you're hitting the 60 frames per second target or not. This should help devs create more buttery apps.
- New debug options for the new non-rectangular clipping feature. This is a new graphical capability for devs in Android API level 18.
- New option to "Use experimental WebView" (this likely changes the browsing engine used to handle websites within apps, but has yet to be confirmed.
- There is now a button that lets you "Revoke USB debugging authorization." This deletes the RSA key generated for USB debugging authorization from the phone itself, previously you had to do this from the computer side.
- Pressing menu in the phone app, lets you now add two-second pauses in your dialing string (denoted by a comma) or longer waits (denoted by a semicolon.)
- In the Settings of the phone app, you can now enable dial-pad autocomplete and change DTMF (dual-tone, multi-frequency) tone lengths.
- Of course there's the new camera app.
- Long, multi-word SSID names now wrap properly down to a second line in the quick-settings pulldown.
- When you take a screenshot and share it via email, the Subject field is automatically populated with the date and time of the shot.
Thanks to :

[FlashableZIP][SCRIPT] LAGFIX v3 - FIX LOW SPACE CAUSING LAG!

Hi all. I recently bought this device and this is my first post in galaxy nexus section
Some people may know that when our phone goes out of memory (under 2/3gb of free space) it becomes very laggy (https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=43081)...
what i have done is just put a couple of solution in one script that will be executed on boot (a init.d script)
so.... if your phone is slow and you have a lot of file in internal memory just flash this... it should be compatible with every rom (with the follow requirements) and every kernel
and let me know if this works for you, thanks
REQUIREMENTS:
- init.d scripts support
- root
DOWNLOAD v3: http://www.mediafire.com/?uu5e8clyp4z3dy9
NOTE:
- you must reflash the zip after every rom update (like gapps...)
- you can find log of the script (is the script working? how long is taking?) in /data/local/tmp/lagfix_log
- seems the some eMMC chips (like VYL00M and VLY00M) take more then a minute to execute the script; mine (V3U00M) takes about 5 seconds. Anyway less free space on device means more time to execute the script on boot, but i think that it worths the wait
- if you want to UNINSTALL the script just flash the uninstaller zip v3: http://www.mediafire.com/?adr32vbbd41w303 (and post there if something went wrong with the script, thanks )
Anyone flash this?

no seriously, some kernel already include this fix (but not all, for example franco kernel doesn't include it). so if you are experiencing lags and have a lot of files in internal memory just flash this... will solve your problem
this is basically what the script does:
Code:
mount -o remount,discard /data
mount -o remount,discard /cache
fstrim -v /data
fstrim -v /cache
Lagfix Zip,....
Hello Everyone,...I am a Toro+ user. I am "rocking" the latest AOSPAL 3.60 ROM and KUBO r50 AK Kernel. I flashed your script,....it took and flashed well. I noticed a little more "snappyness" in my UI and I don't get the slow wakes on my device. I have been using this script for a few hours. I like it so far. But, I will keep you posted if any changes or any more progress. I am only giving my opinion on the ROM and Kernel I am running on my device.

Does a person have to reflash after each rom install, say for example using the cm nightly updater?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 4 Beta
Yes because the zip install 2 files in /system
When you update the rom the system partition is wiped... So yes you have to flash again when you update rom

v2 out
changelog:
- removed fstrim binary file (because it's included in busybox and it may create problem with some roms)
- added script log file in /data/local/tmp/lagfix_log
enjoy
Or you can use lagfix on playstore...

Would you mind to add an uninstall .zip?
Yes but lagfix does only the last part of the script (the fstrim) and it doesn't trim on boot. My script also mount data and cache in discard mode, so you virtually don't need any trim

Giving this a try on Toro AOSPA Beta 4, going to see if it cures a couple hiccups I have. So far I've noticed improvement when opening Chrome browser, which was a big annoyance for me. I'll run this for another day and see how it comes along.
Sure I will do, anyway you just need to delete /system/etc/init.d/90lagfix (and if want also /data/local/tmp/lagfix_log but it's only a stupid log file)

I've noticed my screen wakes and unlocks much faster and smoother. I've also noticed that the couple apps that were causing me redraws no longer do so. So far so good, I still want to keep testing for like a day without reboot though.

I have cwm installed, i will try again...but one question first: do I have to have an american kind of galaxy note 10.1 (Verizon) or can it be installed on any kind of international Hardware? maybe thats my issue?
Edit1: redownloaded, still not working, same error
Also i have been wondering this. Is it bad to format preload? I did so by accident :/

Yes you will need the vzw note 10.1, that's why the assert is failing. Its a fail safe so a rom isn't flashed on a device its not meant for.

So far this is so much faster than stock ROM. I'm still testing if 4g is any weaker.
Thanks so much for this work. Its like having a brand new tablet with latest and greatest!

Since there isn't a stock image for the device, would a cwm backup be suitable in rolling back should I experience any issues?

Yes, cwm will restore your saved backup.
But so far, I'm not sure I will need to. This is blazingly faster..

Awesome, thanks for the replies. Flashed this morning and I'm now setting everything up. So far I'm loving it though. Quick boot times and overall it feels a lot leaner. Thanks for the rom and the support. Been following you since the fascinate days.
*Edit* Ran into a redraw issue or something with TouchdownHD. I posted a video at http://youtu.be/dz5gzv6Sdco is there a setting available that might fix this? I've tried re-installing the application and I still get the same issue.
This rom is just like lightning...thanks sbrissen!
