[GUIDE] HERE maps offline. WORKS! - Sony Smartwatch 3

While it is not entirely easy to use, it works offline with navigation.
1. Grab Nokia HERE beta from here, tested with version HERE_beta_220.apk
2. (optional) Install Minuum keyboard for wear to be able to type
3. Install HERE maps on smartphone
4. Download maps and voice on smartphone
5. connect smartphone to computer and pull files using adb:
Code:
adb pull /sdcard/Android/data/com.here.app.maps
6. Disconnect smartphone from computer
7. Connect Smartwatch 3 to computer
8. Install HERE maps on the wear by:
Code:
adb install HERE_beta_220.apk
and run HERE maps once and accept term, etc., swipe from left to dismiss. Not sure if this required, but that's how I've done it.
9. Push maps and other data by issuing from the directory we used to pull maps
Code:
adb push . /sdcard/Android/data/com.here.app.maps
10. Run Nokia Maps on wear!

However, to be able to start navigation we need to change density, otherwise calculated routes do not fit the screen.
To do so use:
Code:
adb shell wm density 160
To reset to default:
Code:
adb shell wm density reset
With density 160 we can use navigation:

Simply Amazing
Here maps on the Sony Smart Watch 3 is simply Amazing.

I love using Here Maps especially coming from a Windows Phone. The Offline maps had saved me numerous times when I get into small towns with little to no service. I am going to have to do this for the watch.

I plan to write an app with ability to change DPI on the fly either on rooted watch itself or from the rooted phone, in last case it will not require rooted watch.

That would be really amazing. The 160 density setting doesn't play nice with my favorite watchface (Weather Watchface).
Anyways, thanks for this great guide!!

Computer doesn't recognize my watch. Anyone can help me please? I'd really like to install Minuum and here maps both. Thanks

Thanks for testing this out! I think DPI can be modified in the APK. I know there is an XPosed module to change DPI for individual apps but I don't know if XPosed runs on Wear. Watch navigation without needing a phone is awesome!

Well, XPosed allows to add hooks on method calls, so DPI changer hooks to app init and overrides what values returned, with cannot be changed in the apk afaik.
And I really do not want to spend time with xposed, especially when we will see Wear 2.0 soon (I hope really soon).

anyone have minuum last apk for wear? I subscribe the newsletter but they didn't send me anithing

How can I uninstall the HERE Maps from the watch? I installed it but it has not working, I was able to delete the dat but I don't know how can I uninstall it... Can you advice me?
Thanks

adb uninstall com.here.app.maps

Thanks for your tuto. HERE map works very well.
It will be great if there is a DPI auto-change app.
Maybe HERE map will have a new release to support SW3 in the near future.

mmm i have some doubts..
i could install here maps on device and mobile..
get maps from mobile to pc..
i plugged in smartwatch and "pushed " files of map and audio back to Smatwatch..
i can't see the map !!! maybe i did the command adb push . /sdcard/Android/data/com.here.app.maps from the same folder where i initially PULLED it..
i didn't go into FILES folder(which is the folder where i have: voices-download and .here-maps )
SECOND... i did push lots of data ( the map even if i can't see it ) if i want to remove it ... how can i do it?
just uninstall heremap will do? or how can i do it ?
thanks
[EDIT]
Easiest thing was to RESET smartwatch.. but are there other way to delete some files PUSHED through adb? thanks

Map apps on SW3
First, thanks to XorZone OP for brilliant post.
Both Alpinequest (with older .qct OS and OSM etc maps) and OSMAND work well on the watch. Need to download maps on phone and transfer to SW3 (till it gets wifi!)
- edit
OSMAND doesn't want to work quite with the Lollipop update. Seems to be almost there, but - maps appear with a swipe then disappear, crashes on settings.
Alpinequest seems OK.
Now using BlueGps4Droid_1.2.6.apk for GPS. Watch battery seems a bit small for extended use of GPS.
Anybody tried with OSMAND?

I got th android wear 5.0 update, but i cant see offline maps anymore, I tried reinstalling and sending maps to the watch again, but unsuccessfully

Will redo and test tomorrow on 5.0.

Hello dev
I'm lollipop version 5.01
question : it must be root to install Nokia map here for sony smartwatch 3 ?
thanks

NK Update
NK update is just a new boot image with the kernel I have compiled from Behnaams kernel source. It enables overclocking the device to 710MHz using overclock widget from the market (not included) and hopefully should fix some stability and battery issues, but read more on the kernel itself for info.
You don't need to wipe or anything, just copy to your SD and from recovery, flash the 21NK.zip.
I'm not sure if I have set permissions correctly for the new wlan.ko module that has been compiled for use with this so let me know if wifi doesn't work. (if not, a simple "chmod 644 /system/lib/modules/wlan.ko" should fix it.)

Battery life was too horrid, so I switched to the Legend Build, I'm happy to release the final NeORoM1.3c which was never publically released on the understanding the re will be little to no further support for that build.

Very nice ROM.
Mostly translated Menus (german), not like the Eris leak.
Its nicely fast and more apps are running stable as in VillainROM 3.4.
I found a little graphic bug after boot when you unlock the SIM card. But its not fatal
It is possible to remove the bootsound? I dont like that.
Oh and Swype (beta leak) is force closing. But it doesn't greatly matter.
Edit.
Here is the little bug
its the same when you setting up your mail account
Edit. Uhh OverclockWidget is also force closing. Could you fix this? would be very nice
Download link is broken . Please upload in another mirror .
Edit: Now working .

Yikes, I don't know how that image got in there, it was part of my early testing for some framework edits. I was certain I had removed it. It doesn't show on mine :S
As for thhe boot sound, again, I'm sure I removed it, I really hope I didn't upload the wrong build, it's looking that way though!

Works perfectly to me, look: http://screencast.com/t/v9yVuSiLU ... mmm that message can be a mistake, it the deployment hangs between the execution and the unninstallation it might show that message, so it can be a problem with the execution.
I don't know if for a unlocked physical device you must send the new certify by mail and install it in your phone.
Hmm, yea the video show's it working. Might have to do with my phone being a dev unlock device?
I'll try it again tomorrow.

I just installed directly 4.1.513 by downloading from the link, then uninstalled it & then copied the 4.3.605 to /system/app with permissions fixed (rw, r,r) & after rebooting google play music worked - it shows the correct version.
I am wondering what do I need market 3.3.11 for?

Sorry, I didn't understand what you mean - you mean old market (play store) 3.3.11 is needed to download/buy music or something?
I saw in another forum that if you're outside US you can login to the windows music manager with an US IP using tor browser to get capabilities like sync'ing music to the cloud & make it available wherever you go.
I am currently on market/play store 3.5.15 & am able to use google play music w/o issues - search only searches within the phone, not online.
I used to back up Google Play Music via MyBackup Root with apk+data so that my device wouldn't re-authorize with every ROM change. Since updating to Jelly Bean, it doesn't even show up in the app list anymore.
Anyone know of a way to do this now?

I worded that poorly, I mean it doesn't even turn up on MyBackup Root. TitaniumBackup gave no options to actually back up the file it seemed to me at the time. I'll play around with it some more when I have a little time before next flash.

With the release of Android Wear 2.0 beta 3, Google changed the way Wear apps are installed on devices.
So I designed this simple tool to extract the wear compatible apk from already build APK's and install it to wear device via adb.
So what this does is unpack full apk to temp directory on windows and sideload it via adb to the device.
Well is not much, but I felt a tool like this will make things easier to install old Android Wear 2.0 Beta2 and lower, apps to Beta 3 and above devices.

Great, but please, can you tell me how can I get .apk files?
Apkmirror
Google
Or I use Solid Explorer (navigate to Collections - Applications - User apps and copy app to sdcard then copy to PC to use it)
Thank you - I have .apk files now, but I can not run your Installer - "System Windows do not have access to device or file ... " ???

Unfortunately all .apk with result - There is no Micro_wear.apk
I extracted apk files by APK extractor from phone.
can you let me know an app to test out?
I testeded file extracted from Phone and downloaded from APK mirror - same result
Google Fit - Fitness Tracking 1.59.15-109 (640dpi)
http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google...ss-tracking-1-59-15-109-android-apk-download/
ok so I released an update
should work with most standard apk's now
google fit is a bit different but I know a way to install it... will test out and release update as soon as it works properly
Super - Now works by many of apps - except of:
Google fit
Google maps
Google
Multi Calculator
and fixed google maps, fit, etc...
check it out
Brilliant tool, many thanks.
fast question - Should be watches rebooted to bootloader mode for apps installation, or not???
No, install with the watch charger connected to the computer.
Great - works excelent

you can use external download site like APK Mirror or just Google it, but you can also download the APK from your phone to PC
I personally use the second method
so I use Solid Explorer, navigate to Collections -> Applications -> User apps
here I select all apps that are related to watch (ex: all watch faces, Google Maps, etc) and copy to SD card (you can use internal memory)
from there I move the APK files to PC and use the installer
hope it helps

Thanks a ton for the watch faces. i have installed zenwatch manager but even then when i try to set the watch face its constantly loading and loading ... .wether from android wear or wether zenwatch manager..
can u please kindly enlist steps to set a zen watchface
I followed the instructions:

I have the Asus Weather, Flashlight, Fonehelper and SoS app on my watch, got zenwatch manager on my phone.. I see the watchfaces but when applying it just loads and loads and then asks for refresh
No matter if I chose it directly on the watch, in zenwatch manager or android wear, it just doesn't load it any suggestions?
It's the same in my watch...
I found the solution:
If you want to pull a face from an app like the Asus Zenwatch Manager, download the APK offline (same version as PlayStore) and open it like a ZIP file (use 7-zip > right-click on the file > 7-zip > Open archive). Browse to /res/raw and copy the APK, and install using ADB.
After completing the installation, install "ZenWatch Manager from PlayStore. Works for me.
I'll give it a try, thanks for helping reporting if it worked in a moment
katurras: you are my hero! Finally i got the fine signature watchface to work.. you SIR, rock! thanks

thanks a lot for sharing . it works with your method finally :good:
How can I use zenwatch faces without zenwatch manager because I have iphone and i downloaded only my huaweiwatch with adb system.Zenwatch faces has loading problem on my watch and do you have any faces or created but you know only .apk
Thank for help gj
works great katurras. Downloaded Zenwatch Manager and used Android Wear 2.0 APK installer to extract the wear APK and install to watch.
Anybody has this problem? My watch faces sometimes switch to rectangular. when I go into the Zenwatch app on the phone it shows the rectangular face. I have to play around in settings a little before it somehow recognizes that it should use circular faces. Then I also have to update the face on the watch to go back to circular (the rest of Zenwatch faces are not effected if I didn't bring them up under the wrong settings). Odd - couldn't find the culprit yet. Maybe something with allowing system changes from the zenwatch app on the watch?
edit1: after rebooting both phone and watch at the same time it hasn't come back yet. Hope I'm not jinxing it.
No one have swatch faces?

Bought an Android!! Good luck for anyone else in my shoes. Thanks apple for me going to the other side.
Make a watch with a real clock faces and a phone that works with other watch's.
-----------------------
I have an Iphone and no android. I have ADB working right now and like to side load some faces but they all have a .watch file. Can I put the application of Facer or WatchMaker on the watch and then adb a .watch file? Need a way to make this work and I know there are a-lot of smart Tech Cats out there!! Please Help:good:
Cant find any .APK of nice watch faces or even Rolex Mov and others!
Has anyone managed to get the Asus Zenwatch 3 faces to work? I've simply installing the linked APK to the watch via ADB and then installing zenwatch manager but I only get the loading bar on the watch face. I have tried similar but installing the apk found in /res/raw of the zenwatch manager apk but still get the same result. Im on Android Wear 2.0 if it makes any difference, though the motorola and fossil watch faces installed fine.

hmm, interesting. I know it worked on previous DP but I cannot install this on the latest. I tried windroid toolkit and android wear 2.0 apk installer and both of them throw errors. The other two, FossilQMarshal and Moto360gen2 faces get installed fine.
something must have changed that doesn't allow installation of Zenwatch3 faces.
cheers
edit1: never mind. I get an error message but the watch faces all got installed from Zenwatch3_LamSW.apk. Then installed ZenWatch Manager on phone and can apply the faces fine.
Correction: the error message is real and does not actually install the faces from the LamSW.apk. The faces get installed by installing ZenWatch Manager 3.2.0.161220.apk via android wear 2.0 apk installer. This extracts and installs the watch related apk from the file to the watch including faces.

How is that different from installing all watchfaces with apk in zip from first post? How does that make zw3 watchfaces work?

Not sure how your statistics work . A few people here reporting that it doesn't work for them doesn't make this "everybody". I'll post a step-by-step if I have some time with pics? Not sure if I mentioned this before or whether it makes a difference - I'm on latest DP.

My statistics are based also on people from threads for other watches, as this exact OP is there for more of them.
I am also on latest DP.

Funny.
I am just wondering that you installed apk, installed zw manager and it works, while other few that did the same have no luck.
And yes, I know: When two do the same thing, it is not the same thing. But still... interesting
