[Q] Lollipop (v20A) Wireless Charging and Textra Issues - G3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
Can someone else with a D855 G3 updated to v20A Lollipop confirm if they also have these issues:
Wireless charging: When the battery is full the screen will light up, turn off, light up and so on until removed from the charger.
Very annoying in the middle of the night!!! Also happened on 19H update.
Textra SMS: App runs but then silently crashes when you try to open and message old or new.
Many thanks in advance!

is Textra ART compatible? it might be that it has not been updated for use on ART or Android 5.0 yet.

Hi,
I'm not sure but it's been updated recently with Lollipop fixes so would assume ART compatibility. The other SMS app from the same company, ChompSMS, does work.
Was more wondering if it's because I flashed V20A as an update rather than clean but don't want the hassle of a clean flash if others also have the issue. The wireless charging is the bigger annoyance to me, wish the screen would stay off as I charge overnight.

Been talking to a guy at Textra to help get this fixed and today the have found the cause. An update that makes Textra work again will be available shortly.
Hopefully LG will fix the wireless charging bug in the next update.

I have this same problem with wireless charging. Any solution?

Reckon the only permanent solution is an update from LG.
I've not found any software solutions and covering the light sensor makes it worse. For now i've switched to wired charging.

+1 on wireless charging error.

This is why I'm holding off on Lollipop. I also get 'slow charging' notifications constantly, which only G3 Tweakbox disables, at least as far as I know.

I don't get any slow charging messages when using the normal wall or wireless chargers, only when using my PC which is to be expected.
Yesterdays V20C update still has this wireless charging bug.

+1 on the wireless charging error on v20d... this really sucks.

I've been asking LG UK on twitter about this issue and they said they'd pass it on to R&D. Might help if more of us tweet about the issue to LG in other countries too?

+1 same problem on wireless charging

wireless charging
+1 wireless charging keep turning up the screen when it was full fuking annoying me so much

Yeah, same on V20f, no update on wireless charging popups and screen on...

German support tells me that is behaviour is perfectly normal at this time.
They will take future changes into consideration.
Thank you very much ...

NO Problems on V20B...Lollipop
I am using D855, just upgraded to V20b...Lollipop, and I am using a NOKIA DT-900, and the screen doesn't light up when its fully charged.....just the LED light is GREEN

So what about v20f? Is the issue fixed? Does anyone know?

v20f has the same problem. Still not fixed

The wireless charging issue has now been fixed in the v20H update. Works flawlessly now.

[Q] No LED lights when charging after upgrade from CM 7.0.3 to CM 7.1RC1

Hi,
Firstly, please don't attack me for not using search. I have spent an hour or so searching these forums for any answers, but there are a LOT of hits for LED-related problems and none seem to match
My G2 was running CM7.0.3 when I got it, and the charge LEDs (both orange and green) were working correctly. Last weekend, I upgraded to CM7.1RC1 using ROM Manager. I did a full wipe of everything rather than just a dalvik cache wipe. Now, I am finding that at night when my phone is charging I am getting no LED lights at all. No orange light or green light. Has anyone heard of a similar problem to mine?
Thanks!
UPDATE: Actually, I don't think my LEDs are working at all. They are certainly not flashing when I receive mail.
try this...its similiar
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=851685
patch by pershoot. it could also just be a broken sensor.
p.s. its pretty sad when people ask not to be attacked...gives a glimpse of some characters we have on xda
Thanks for the info!
On further investigation, seems my charge LED is working but somewhat intermittently. I thought it might be related to the "Dim LED" option in Quiet Hours, but after toggling it my LED seemed to be working regardless now. I might try the pershoot patch anyway for kicks, but I guess this is one to chalk up to "weird LED behaviour" - seems to be a very common problem

Sorry if I ask, have you had this problem as well? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1230776
To be honest, I never let my phone get that low on battery, so I've no idea what it did in CM7.0.3 or what it does in CM7.1. Sorry!

[Q] Disable Wireless Charging Notification Pop-up screen

It's a goddamn full screen notification. How do I disable it?
I know the phone will recharge slower with my SlimArmor case, thank you.
Install G3 Tweakbox. It has the options in there.

I could swear I had this option enabled, and it wasn't working. Enabled, rebooted and it seems it disabled it. Thank you
This is the one issue that is stopping me from upgrading to Lollipop, as the only way I know how is with Xposed framework and G3 Tweakbox - have you found another way now you've gone to Lollipop?
Unfortunately no. I even stopped using the wireless charger.. It sucks really.
They said it could be done with the new apk tool, and it has been released some days ago. Didn't ask any dev to look after this for me, but it may be possible now

Notification LED weird behavior.

I've discovered when ZF2 is connected to USB (to PC), then LED doesn't display any notification. It always stay orange or green depending on charge status.
When ZF2 is not connected to USB, then LED blinks upon notifications well.
Does everyone have the same LED behavior?

Yes, I am having the same issue and noticed it a time ago...but then forgot about it. I see you also posted the issue on the ZenTalk forums. I was pretty sure it was a software problem.

Yep, after i've got idiotic answer on Zentalk from supposed to be ASUS official, i've decided to ask on this forum.
As a software developer i'm sure this is bug in Android framework due to ASUS customization.
I'm using Xposed module GravityBox where i can switch off the charging LED notification. If i switch it off, then notification LED works fine even when connected to USB, but of course if there is no notification, it doesn't display charge status.
Not sure how it would be hard to fix this issue through xposed, but according to ASUS answer on Zentalk, they are not going to fix this problem.
Users who think it's important, please write that you have this issue as well here: http://www.asus.com/zentalk/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=7660
May be then they will fix it.
Another weird behavior for notifications. SMS messenger uses default notification sound. It means, if i set specific sound for SMS, then many other notifications (for example OTA Software Update) will also use this sound.

Weird. I'll try this myself. I guess there is a new WW update coming soon (as CN received: CN_2.16.40.10) - http://www.asus.com/Phones/ZenFone_2_ZE551ML/HelpDesk_Download/ - we'll wait and see.
Until then, I have to go with my phone to a service . My softkeys have stopped working properly. http://forum.xda-developers.com/zenfone2/help/soft-keys-anymore-t3103011

Ditto on the default notification sound. I have gone crazy trying to change it. Short of installing a 3rd party SMS app, I don't see a fix. Annoying, but loving the phone otherwise.

Problems with screen brightness, LED notifications, Xprivacy / slowness

So I seem to have a whole bunch of problems with my D851, and am curious if others have the same problems and know of fixes. Mine has 20g (stock Lollipop) installed, and is rooted.
Main problem: enabling Xprivacy makes this phone become significantly slower. The settings menu crawls with Xprivacy turned on. Anyone else experience this?
Auto brightness is *way* too dim to use. Surely, I must not be the only person experiencing this? I see a few people mention it in passing, but it doesn't seem to be an big deal. Are people not using auto brightness? Or do most folks not have this issue? All other devices I have with Lollipop allow a brightness range if set on auto. This one doesn't ? Can I get this feature somehow?
Even when I set the brightness manually, it keeps getting reset to 100% some half the times it wakes up from sleep. Anyone else experiencing this? Anyone know of a fix?
Also, the display off time never gets set. I set it to 30sec or 1min, and it always gets reset two 2 min.
The notification LED is virtually useless. It blinks once in like 20 seconds when I get an email (gmail app). I rely on this. Is there a fix to get it to blink every second or 2 seconds? Light manager didn't work.
What I don't understand is, since I experienced all these issue on pretty much a phone out of the box + rooted, I'm surprised they don't seem to be common problems.
Thanks in advance.

Thanks, I think that was a part of it, but not all of it. I tried flashing stock on a different unit, and I found that the brightness issue was largely (but not fully) better, and the display settings not getting set issue went away. The Xprivacy and LED notification issues remain, and will occur on all units as far as I can tell. I haven't seen anything here that contradicts that info.

Thanks a bunch for the info, this is good to know, and good to hear from another D851 user. The Xprivacy issue may be less easy to measure. The LED issue may be more objective. I have no trouble with changing LED colors. It's the blink rate that's at issue. Are you able to get it to blink say, twice per second, or even once per second when you get new email in your gmail app if you use that? Are you using any kind of an LED app?
Also, are you running Lollipop? Stock? Rooted? Thanks.

I'm always rooted lol I'm running fulmics 5.0 and in the settings it gives you the option of length and speed of the LED. I highly recommend that rom if you want to try out marshmallow.

[Bug/Issue] I keep hearing "Charging sounds" even through not charging

Hi, after the Q update, my phone keeps pinging the charging sounds even when I'm not charging it. Anyone else facing this issue?
Also, my charger is working in only one direction randomly. I already RMA'ed the phone on the same issue when I upgraded to Pie from Orea. Now it's happening again after updating from Pie to Q.. Haha .. Any suggestion here as well?
It happens for me from time to time but not for along period just like 6 to 8 pings then stops... Really wired lol

Yes! Exactly.. And that too in a short period..
Sent in for repairs..
The update changed my notification sounds to the charge ping. It also made that noise when I was in a call and got notifications. Check if that's what happened.

Nope.. I confirmed it by muting all app's notification sounds.. As a matter of fact, for a fraction of a second, the phone shows it's charging when the sound comes.
After a clean flash of the Android 10 image, I've got the standard "ping" charging sound that can be listened for example on Android One devices. Any idea why the cool new one introduced with Android Pie is replaced by the old one?
Having the same issue with my 2 xl. Randomly shows charging but I have my phone on vibration so no sound. It started as soon as I updated to Android 10
I've got the same issue, has anyone solved it yet?
Hey I've got the same issue, it just popped out today and it's so irritating that makes me wanna break my phone... Has anyone figured out what's wrong? How to fix it? I know disabling charGing notification sound can help with sound but I'm worried about battery since it shows charging for half sec and then goes off... Really google? Is this what quality means for you?....
After a long discussion with a tech support agent, we concluded that when we update the phone OS to major versions (8>9 or 9>10) the USB port firmware is going for a toss and only a company level patching / reflashing can fix the corrupted firmware.
So, if at all any issue occurs after a major update with USB it's very likely because of the corrupt firmware which can only be fixed with a phone's visit to the service centre .
Anyone has experience to solved this issue?. This still happen on my 2 xl, I hope it will be fixed after security update on this december. But, still happen until now. I don't know why. Please share if anyone found how to solve this. Appreciates.

Do check if all other usb functions are working: audio dongle, data transfer, two side charging etc. If anything is not working, the problem is with the driver software in the phone and has to go for service.
I have experienced this same issue, charging notif keeps bugs me every minute a day after the december update. I tried to buy new type C cable and adapter and the charging sound suddenly stop until now. Try this, i promise it may help you. Thank me later
