wifi calling tmobile vs metropcs - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy Note II

This has been bothering me. I have the t889 and when I enable wifi calling - cause signal really sucks for me- I am unable to receive mms messages. I only receive the sms message ready to download. What gets me is my buddy has note 3 with metropcs and he is able to use wifi calling and send mms messages. We both set them up the same, wifi preferred - same apn.. Any clue on why this happens. I know the mms wifi calling is a carrier problem but last I looked metropcs is using tmobile infrastructure.

I have had that issue, I had to flash a messaging app and then it worked, I just don't remember which one. I think it was an stock aosp messing app that I flashed on my tw rom. "Go sms" will work in a way, when you recieve an mms, it will temporarily disable your wifi to get the mms.

At home, wifi calling works perfectly. SMS/MMS, calling, web. Everything.
But at work, (unknown router to me), wifi calling works, web works, but sms/mms gets hung up on "Sending..." however I am able to receive texts via wifi calling. Just can't send. I have to disable wifi calling while at work, then my sms/mms goes through just fine.
Anybody know why this may be? This seems to be router-dependent... or is it a bug/glitch in T-Mobile's wifi calling software?
Additional info: I did the 2.3.6 update over my existing stock rooted T-Mobile OS. I kept all my settings, apps, etc, but just updated and also was unrooted, apparently.
This seems to be a pretty common issue with the update. Myself and others have discussed it in another thread here. Its really hit or miss. Sometimes i can send and receive mms at home, sometimes i cant. At work it never does.

Thanks. I hope T-Mobile fixes this. What thread is this discussion in?? I looked

[Q] WiFi (Calling and regular) and SMS/MMS issues...

I cannot SEND SMS on WiFi calling IF I am set to Cellular preferred but connected to WiFi calling. I do recieve.
IF it is set to WiFi Preferred then I can send and receive SMS.
Sending/receiving MMS is a No Go on any WiFi calling and even when on Cellular calling IF I am connected to a WiFi network.
My Galaxy S4 did not have these issues! Its very... annoying. Anyone have experience in this?? Will there be an update? Is there anything I can do?
I am not yet rooted (still in the lets make sure this crap works first phase).
There is an app on Play Store called Tweakker. It will help build your APN by Carrier. At the end you will see the APN it set up and your default. You can compare the two. Select the one you want to use.
Some third party apps are having MMS issue, Handcent just fixed their app. Are you using stock to send MMS?

I use GoSMS, have for a long time. Ill try the Tweakker and stock messaging for the MMS. I am still confused as to why it would NOT send SMS if set to Cellular preferred but will if set to WiFi preferred. Either way the Wifi Calling is active on the same network.

Very odd issues all the way around while using wifi calling. MMS will come in but I get blank messages in stock and gosms BUT the pics so fine in hangouts.
Oh, and I started dropping INCOMING calls at 1 min 26 seconds. I think I saw something about that in another thread...?
Ive turned off the wifi calling except here at work where I mostly use it for texting in the office. As long as its wifi preferred lol.
Its very annoying. Especially since my S4 did not have these issues (though the call quality was abysmal, at least the Note 3 improved that)

MMS problems

Is anyone else having MMS issues? I can never get MMS messages to send. Its rather annoying. I've heard of people adding a custom APN but my button to add an APN is greyed out.
The only thing I can do is toggle airplane mode a few times to get the messages to go through but it doesn't always work
Went to the sprint store today and they were baffled.
I have. New update 5/11 should take care of that. If you clear your cache it will take care of it.
Worked great man. Cleared cache on hangouts and MMS service seemed to do the trick

that's what i did after update picture would not go through and text takes a long time to send
cleared app cache and data
all is right in the world with sms
I have had a similar issue and it was fixed by turning wifi off and the message would send
My APN settings can't be edited. It doesn't let me edit, only create NEW APN's. I have my MSL and still cant change my APN settings. I could use the hotspot on the S6 SM-G925P. I'm currently non-rooted due to the recent 5.1.1 Firmware version update. Thanks.
There has always been an issue with sprint phones + Google Hangouts + MMS. For some reason hangouts will only send and receive MMS over data. If you want to test it connect to wifi, try to send an MMS over hangouts (notice that your data icon in the top bar will show). If you have poor data reception your MMS might not even send and the phone radio can get very hot. Now disable hangouts and use the stock messaging app to send an MMS. Notice that the MMS sends fine over wifi and does not activate your data.
I really love hangouts, but the inability to send and receive MMS over wifi is a deal breaker for me. Turning on data every time I get an MMS is a battery killer for me. I doubt Google/sprint will ever address this issue as it has been going on since hangouts released when I had an S2.

My experience has been the same since S2 also. Read all the MMS threads. Tried all kinds of changes to APNs. Most of the time I was running CM and blamed it for the issues. Finally tried Textra to find no problems with MMS. My conclusion was Hangouts. You can follow this Google thread if you have a couple hours to spend. All breeds of Hangouts users with same problem, with very little response from Google. My hope was for Hangouts to be for Android what imessage is to IOS. No such luck, but still hopeful. Until then, I use Textra with no problems.
I've been attempting to use XHangouts and the APN splicing feature to get Hangouts 4 to send / receive MMS through my carrier number, and no dice. Has anyone gotten this working on the Sprint S6? I'd, in theory, love to be able to use Hangouts for both the new Voice group chatting AND normal MMS functions but it seems like I can either downgrade to Hangouts 3 or deal with using another SMS client for carrier MMS.

No mms on 6.0 or 6.0.1

OK Nexus 5x users. I have searched the web, I've searched the forum, I've searched everywhere I possibly can think of and still can't find a solution. I am on AT&T. I had an iPhone 6s before I bought my Nexus 5x, But from day one I'm not able to receive MMS messages consistently. Everything over 160 characters I don't get. I've tried everything I possibly can find, to no avail. I've messed with APN's, I don't have push bullet installed, I don't have any other text messaging app installed. I still have my iPhone 6s, and I've gone in and disabled face time as well as iMessage and iCloud, so on and so on and so on. I've even tried multiple text messaging apps just to see if that would help. I've installed two different operating systems, however both of them are based on 6.0 .1. For what ever reason no matter what I try no matter what I mess with I can't get any text message that are 161 characters or more to come through. When I reset phone to stock, I can get them to come through for about one minute and then I no longer can get them. I don't install any other apps and they just stop coming through. If I put my Sim card back in the iPhone 6s and make a few texts and then disable iMessage and FaceTime and iCloud again, I can get MMS messages for about one minute and then they stop coming through again. I can send MMS messages just fine I just can't receive them. I see multiple posts on the Internet about this issue with marshmallow. It seems like everybody is able to solve it, "but me". Does anybody on this forum have any idea what I can do to solve this issue?

sorry, are you on custom rom or stock now?
I was having mms issues in verizon. Incoming Mms were delayed for days. None of the recommended apn settings helped, switching between messenger and hangouts saw no change, turning wifi on and off, etc.
I set the apn to restore defaults and now it seems to work, when mobile data is on. Doesnt work when just wifi is on.
Question, is mms over wifi even a feature on Verizon? My Galaxy S4 did not send or receive mms if mobile data was off, one annoying feature because I usually just leave wifi on when home.
But then through some verizon update i could send and receive mms with mobile data disabled, I think it would switch mobile data on momentarily when an mms was incoming or outgoing.
So is there a way to get mms to work with mobile data off on the 5X on verizon?

My 5X does not send mms with mobile data turned off. My S3 was exactly the save before this phone. I'm on Verizon, stock rooted with Ex kernel installed. This didn't work on stock OOTB either. I get notifications if I receive mms and I just turn on my data at that point to download them, if it isn't enabled.

Since you are coming from the iPhone...I wonder if you have to de-register your number from imessages server?

MM Update: Group messaging & MMS doesn't work if wifi is connected

Hi folks,
I've got a new problem that started after I updated my D851 from (stock/rooted) Lollipop to (stock/rooted) Marshmallow.
When I'm home, I've got a decent LTE signal (ATT, though using the T-Mobile phone variant). But since I'm home, my phone connects to my wifi and uses it for data. I have no problem making/receiving calls or SMS texts to a single person at a time.
However, as long as I'm connected to WIFI (with my cellular signal present but not used for data due to the WIFI), neither MMS nor group texts work. In the stock Messages app, or the Messaging app I actually usually use, these MMS or group texts sit there as "sending..."
If I turn off the wifi, the cellular data signal is used immediately and the texts go through. Same goes for receiving MMS.
Again, this only happens since the marshmallow update that I applied a couple weeks ago.
I have not found a fix. I found lots of people complaining, and a few proposed solutions, like changing the APN so that the APN Protocol would be set to IPv4/IPv6 instead of the default IPv4. See here for that reference, though it didn't work for me:
https://support.t-mobile.com/thread/61843?tstart=0
Anybody have a fix for this? it's a real problem particularly for incoming messages. I can always toggle wifi off if I want to send something, but not knowing when something is coming in gets to be a problem. SMS from single conversations come through.
Please help me troubleshoot this. I've googled my fingers to the bone and while I've found reports of issues like this going back years, no actual solutions that work for me.
HELP!
There's one workaround so far... using Textra as the messaging app. It has an option called the T-Mobile Wifi Calling fix (in Settings/MMS/scroll down to bottom). Even though my wifi calling is set to off, since I'm on ATT, enabling this setting in Textra automatically toggles off WiFi to send MMS/group sms, and it does the same when it detects an attempted incoming MMS.
I much prefer the Google Messages app, for a variety of reasons, and I'm looking to figure out a real fix rather than this workaround. Any help most appreciated.
