[KERNEL][G800F][exynos][G800FXXU1ANG1] USB-OTG enabled kernel - Galaxy S5 Mini Android Development

Important notice:
- You flash this image at your own responsibility. I am not responsible for any damage that might be caused by flashing this image (bricked device, lost data, ...)
- Flashing this kernel image will trigger the KNOX counter, so your warranty will be void.
- The image is only for S5 Mini SM-G800F (Exynos)
- The kernel is not tested well. It might be instable, crash your device, drain your battery, or even might damage your smartphone (e.g. if an OTG device drains too much power)
- Backup your data before flashing and check if the original firmware is present (e.g. at SamMobile)
Background:
For some reason, the stock kernel does not provide USB-OTG support, although the G800F hardware seems to be capable of it. The G800F even powers the OTG devices if the OTG feature is activated in the kernel.
Although general USB-OTG support is compiled into the stock kernel, OTG-support was deactivated for the built-in USB-switch SM5502. This is the reason why OTG devices are not supported by the stock firmware.
This kernel adds suport for USB-OTG. It is based on the official source code from Samsung's open source page (G800FXXU1ANG1). No change was made to the kernel sources. Only the kernel configuration was changed to enable the missing OTG features for the SM5502 driver.
Also see the USB Host / OTG discussion thread for further infos.
WARNING: There might be a reason why this feature is disabled in stock firmware. It is possible that this feature causes instabilites or even damages your device (e.g. if the G800F cannot handle the OTG-device power drain).
How to flash:
Download the kernel image from Link (based on G800FXXU1ANL1)
Download Odin (I used Odin3-v3.07 contained in CF-Auto-Root)
Reboot your device into Odin mode: turn off your device, then press Volume-Down + Home + Power button at the same time and release them. Confirm the following message with the Volume-Up button.
Connect your device to your PC via USB
Make sure the device driver's are installed on your PC
Start Odin
Select PDA and select the kernel image (boot.tar.md5)
Check that only "Auto Reboot" and "F. Reset Time" is set
Click on "Start": the kernel image should be flashed now and the device should reboot afterwards
Tested USB-OTG devices (all working):
HID keyboard and mouse
USB flash stick
USB-audio
tivizen DBT-T stick
Samsung Dock EDD-D200B (only charging support, no audio routing)
If you are not too discouraged by all the warranty loss and damage risk issues - have fun with USB-OTG
At least it works really well for me.
Edit:
You can find the kernel sources here:

Maybe an update for latest 4.4.2 ROM AL2?

I have updated the boot.img to ANL1 now. Seems as if ANL2 is some T-Mobile specific firmware - at least it is only available for those devices atm (see http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-G800F/).
Probably there was no change in the kernel so you might use the updated boot.img with ANL2 too - but I cannot guarantee that it works.

Are you planning to add something else?

Not at the moment.
Something you miss in particular?

Does it work Kernel on (SM-G800H One SIM)?
Please help,

No, you will break your device.

Hi,
Do you think endoscopic camera can work with this patch ? I would use it with this product http://www.pearl.fr/video/cameras-numeriques/cameras-endoscopiques/camera-endoscopique-usb-etanche-a-led-renforce-15-m_PX3708.html
Thank you

I need the same for G800H Duos The reason why it is blocked in original kernel is uncovered ''waterproof" microUSB connector. Voltage on the pins under water is not quite good...

Thank a lot for your hard work, but can you make an "OTG-enabled" kernel for the qcom variant?

Flashed the kernel on my S5 mini and USB OTG is working.
Now the S-health app is no longer working and the private mode fails to activate to...any solution/explanation for this?
Thanks

Is the usb connector still waterproof after this change and will there also be a kernel for the lollipop rom which is rolling out at the moment?
Thanks!

Hello , How To teria SM- G800H ?

looking for working debloated-tweaked rom for G800F

You tripped your KNOX Counter, when it's 0x1 those things just doesn't work. And there's no way back.
---------- Post added at 05:19 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:14 PM ----------
For me this kernel worked almost perfectly - I think there was a little battery drain even when I wasn't using OTG.
It's compatible with M-Audio Keystation 32 Mini.

Help!
hi, (and sorry for my english i am from poland) I`ve flashed my s5 mini but every 2-3 minutes warning appears saying "unautorised actions detected reboot your device to cansel all te changes" no matter what i click after clicking both (cansel, reboot) warning appear again Pleste help!

Masz SuperSU? Jeśli tak, to czy pokazywał Ci się komunikat z pytaniem, czy wyłączyć KNOX? Musisz wybrać tam Disable i zrestartować telefon.
Above in English: Have you installed SuperSU? If so, when you open it there is a question wheter you want to disable KNOX or not. You have to choose Disable and reboot your phone.

[KERNEL] JourneymanMod Kernel [OTG + Power]

This thread is for the developing of the JourneymanMod Kernel project.
For now we are in version 3. Its working great, charging while in OTG, and recoginizes if there is a charger connected or if its default OTG cable.
REMEMBER: It will only charge if you power the hub BEFORE connecting to the phone, if you connect to phone and then power the hub it wont connect.
In the attachments are 3 zip files.
We got version 4.1.1 of yakju and takju. And version 4.1.2 of yakju.
all of them are working nice.
This project will be for enabling OTG + Power, since the stock kernel dont enable charging the phone while in OTG mode.
For helping the project, or just following the news, we created an irc channel (##JourneymanMod).
The source-code of the project will be located at the github (https://github.com/caioketo/journeymanmod).
Was just googling to see if this was possible. Ordered my cable a week ago, waiting for it, & was worried that my time with usb otg would be limited by battery. Great mod! Thank you! Can't wait to try.
---------- Post added at 01:49 AM ---------- Previous post was at 01:20 AM ----------
Anyone interested in this, this is the cable I ordered. Hope it works. Clearly a normal usb otg cable would have nowhere to attach power :

Add to GNex CM10/CM10.1??
Would the dev be willing to submit a patch to the Galaxy Nexus CM10/CM10.1 project to enable this feature? I am not sure if this kernel could be used as a replacement for the stock CM10 kernel, but third-party kernels aren't supportable if there's a CM issue (hence my request to have it put in native CM10/10.1 kernel). Thanks!

Sorry for the delay on responding. This thread hasn't been as active as the original one where the JourneymanMod kernel was first introduced.
I've not submitted a patch to CM previously but, if I can set myself up to do it properly, I definitely will.
It's amazing how easy it is to compile this into custom kernels. Looking forward to the fixed patch.

how do you activate this feature in the AOSP available kernel ? I mean do you actually have to incorporate other drivers or is it maybe just an option you can select with menuconfig ? And if so do you have by any chance the specific parameters that are added to the vanilla .config file ?

There is a modified AOSP kernel source code file that needs to be replaced. After that, it's a matter of building the kernel with this modified source code and then installing this kernel onto your phone.
This thread is pretty dead. You can find an ongoing discussion and the current kernel distributions at
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1835720
The kernels included in the ZIP archives are built as described above, from the AOSP kernel source.
I've fixed a bug in this kernel that occurs when detaching external USB power and am looking for some testing before I replace the current kernel distribution ZIP archives. If you're interested, check out the post and thread at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=35910077&postcount=182. Thanks much.

1. CM 10.1 doesn't include this kernel patch, as far as I know. I'd like to submit it for inclusion, but I'd need to test it, which means installing CM on my Galaxy Nexus, which I haven't wanted to do, since my GN is working very well under stock Android 4.1.2 with Journeyman Kernel V4.
2. Check out this thread on another web site

I haven't followed this thread, but there was a lot of talk about a similar patch for the N7.

How-To
This is how I set my E300K. You can do it however you want but I know this works. If you have an E300S you need to use the firmware for your phone.
- backup and important data on SD and microSD
- shutdown
- remove sim & microSD
- vol up + home + power to cwr - factory reset - power off
- vol down + home + power to odin - [No Auto Reboot] - flash (E300KKKUAMG2_E300KKTTAMG2_HOME.tar.md5 or firmware for E300S) - remove battery
- vol up + home + power to recovery but will boot to OS
- quick setup OS ("next", "skip" or "no" to everything)
- settings - accounts - backup & reset - factory reset
- quick setup OS ("next", "skip" or "no" to everything)
- settings - more - unknown sources
- connect to PC - copy UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.32.zip to SD
- vol down + home + power to odin - [No Auto Reboot] - flash (i9500-cwm-recovery-6.0.3.2-2.tar) - remove battery
- vol up + home + power to cwr - install zip from sd (UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.32.zip)
- reboot
- shut down
- insert sim
- boot
- enable data or wifi - software update - "modified .. blah, blah"
- open Play - update superSu app & install Busybox or Busybox Pro
- exit Play
- superSU - update binary (Normal) - exit
- Busybox - Root Perm. (Grant) - Backup (No) - Install (Smart Install) - Option "Auto Update Busybox" (No) - exit
- if using microSD - BEGIN
make directory /etc/init.d
make script for exfat
---
#!/system/bin/sh
insmod /lib/modules/exfat_core.ko
insmod /lib/modules/exfat_fs.ko
---
change permission of script to 755
- if using microSD - END
- boot OS
- update all apps via Google Play, Olleh Market, Samsung Apps, etc.
- restart
- vol up + home + power to cwr - install zip from sd (kernel)
FAQ:
1. Why is this in the i9500 thread?
The Galaxy S4 has many variations. SHV-E300K is one of three models sold in South Korea. Since XDA only has a small number of users of this variation, the moderators do not make separate sections for this device.
2. Will you make a kernel for the e300s and e300l?
This depends on if the people testing the devices I don't own can help me make them work. The more useful information you give me, the more likely the kernels will work.
3. XYZ doesn't work. What can I do?
PM me, not AndreiLux. Tell me as much as you can so I can try to recreate the problem.
3. How do I use init.d feature?
make folder /etc/init.d
put your scripts in /etc/init.d/
chmod your scripts
4. How do I mount an SD Card?
4a. (Option 1) load exfat_core & exfat_fs from terminal and then Settings - More (Tab) - Storage - Mount SD Card
4b. (Option 2) load modules via init.d5. Can you add xyz feature?
I will certainly try.
6. STweaks is force closing. What can I do?
The "unexpected error" seems to mostly occur due something messing with busybox in /sbin.
If you are using Busybox Installer (Stericson), Uncheck or decline the option to disable busybox in /sbin.
To get to the Settings page, swipe two pages to the left. There is a check box at the top. This option disables the copy of busybox built into the kernel.
Glad to meet you koe1974 again
Can I add the link of your thread in my thread?
can we also get perseus kernel for E300L ? would love it. please try to develop this kernel for E300S and E300L

The SHV-E300K is not a variant of the I9505. It is a variant of the I9500. And yes, while the source code is for a "UNIVERSAL" 5410 chipset, there are still tons of things that need to be done in order to actually make it work with either phone. I.E. .. ril code, wifi supplicants, cpu governers, audio, and the list does go on. It takes a lot of hard work and patients to get it to work with either phone to be honest. And no this isn't the wrong section due to the fact that it is part of the the I9500 family. We do not have and will not have our own thread for this phone because it is considered a localized phone branding.

Koe, getting random crashes with compatibility layer, cloud service agent, and random with com.android.phone. I went back to your old kernel until I get off work and then I will reinstall this kernel and send a log cat...
Also getting baseband service stopped responding. But it recovers once the phone boots completely.

Nope, nothing frozen/hibernated/uninstalled from stock rom. I know the baseband service stopped error only happens at boot and then it recovers itself. The others will randomly stop and then quickly recover .. maybe you could turn off show error msg dialogue within the kernel since these services are actually recovering and not hindering anything?? Oh, and I have started work on the K device tree today, made a little bit of progress. It is just going to take all weekend to download the CM10.2 sources. But what I was planning on doing, with your permission of course, is adding your sources into the kernel build of CM and working it that way. With things like this, we would be working together on making this build possible and working out the bugs for each would be a lot faster .. let me know what you think...

-----------------------------------------------------------------
hello folks.
sorry ive been very quiet the last week or so but ive been working hard on some new things (including that nice new lollipop kernel source for the G800F which is still In progress)
need to give a massive thanks to arkansawdave74 for helping with this and the build for the H model, and for helping give me the kick i needed to get back into android development proper.
but i have actually got some useful work to announce now
i am proud to announce the first BETA release of PAC-Rom for the Samsung galaxy S5 Mini LTE(G800F) (yes i have one for the dual sim H model aswell getting posted soon)
download links are below, and i will let others post screenshots etc as i dont currently have the time since im typing this late at night to get any.
PLEASE BE ADVISED THIS ROM IS FOR THE SM-G800F ONLY AND COULD CAUSE A BRICK IF FLASHED TO OTHER DEVICES
http://www.dmpwap.xyz/roms/pac_kminilte.zip
this is now using a fully up to date TardisKern with 1.7ghz oc amoungst other things.
please mention any bugs etc so i can get to work on them.
current issues noted:
selinux support is completely disabled
mtp(usb storage) may or may not work as my pc does not seem to want to play with any usb storage devices currently
working
phone,
messaging(mms/sms)
mobile data including LTE/4G
display and 3d graphics
remote control transmitter
google apps
wifi
GPS
sound
bluetooth
pretty sure everything else works too
any and all donations would be much appreciated to help cover hosting costs

Have you installed SuperSU from play store.. Root works fine for others

Got it !
I used the rooting tool : KingRoot.
That fixed it.
But the system setting still doesnt work.
Also I dont like the camera app.
The CM Snap app is better
the setting worked fine here and still does so im thinking thats something on your end, as for camera i cant comment as ive used cm for about 5 mins and that will be all i ever use it for, cm is far too bloated in my personal opinion and actually seems to perform slower than touchwiz for me, and what rom people choose to use is always personal preference in my opinion

Please remove the gapps so everyone can choose the gapps fron opengapps oder somewhere else. Althoug Please use another launcher so not the Google now launcher for example trebuchet from cyanogenmod. The features are the best but i cant use it daily because gapps:cyclops:

try to be polite, as that comes across as quite nasty in some ways(though i understand english may not be your natural language so quite possibly is not your fault), ill be fixing that issue once i get my build system back up and running which it is not currently

and i wont use drive etc after previous big issues with them years ago

[DISCONTINUED][MOD] Kali NetHunter for Honor 5x

What is Kali NetHunter? If you don't know what NetHunter is read this: https://www.kali.org/kali-linux-nethunter/
Q: Why don't I flash the original nethunter version by keeping my current kernel?
A: To get Nethunter fully work you need a kernel that supports its features, such as put a wireless adapter in monitor mode or perform a HID Keyboard attack
Special Patches included in this kernel:
mac80211 injection patch, to put wireless adapters in monitor mode; note that built-in wireless chipset doesn't support monitor mode and you have to use external wireless adapter (see supported wireless cards here)
HID patch, to perform HID keyboard attacks
CD-ROM patch, to emulate CD-ROMs in DriveDroid
Warning!!!:
This version is not tested by me (since I don't have a hono 5x ) but it's tested by another user that told me it works, so, if it doesn't blame him not me
Disclaimer:
Code:
I'm not responsable for bricked devices :( , dead phone chargers,
nuclear explosions or global warming.
Flash it at YOUR OWN RISK.
Required Downloads:
Download any CM based ROM
Download any custom recovery (like twrp)
Download my Nethunter "ROM" here: https://androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=118871 All future updates will be in that folder
How to Install (CM/RR):
Note: When you flash my zips, don't check "zip signature verification" box in TWRP recovery
1) Install TWRP
2) Enter in TWRP recovery
3) Flash any CM based (like cm, rr, aicp...) ROM
4) Optional: flash Google Apps after flashed a cm based recovery
5) Flash NetHunter zip
7) Reboot
8) Open Nethunter app and go to menu<chroot manager<install chroot and download the full chroot, for devices which have more storage available, or minimal chroot, for devices which have less space available
9) Close NetHunter app and reopen it to complete the installation
10) Enjoy
Important: I called NetHunter "ROM", but it isn't a ROM, so, you don't have to wipe system partition.
Note: report only bugs related to NetHunter and not to cm based roms

Kali Linux on Honor 5X! This is amazing!
Downloaded and flashed on KIW-L22 - On Tipsy OS - AOSP and AOKP (CM Based) - Initial boot took a while longer than normal, got a boot loop first, but it came back up after cache/dalvik wipe
Kali chroot manager stuck in "Checking" even after 10 minutes though
Edit: Lost root on installing this and didn't notice it, and busybox too.....reinstalling SuperSU through TWRP is not bringing it back root access either, so cannot install busybox too......nethunter app returned an error for not getting root access and no busybox installation!
PS: In love with the boot animation!!

1. On Tipsy OS - AOSP - working fine! Initial boot took a while longer than normal, got a boot loop first, but it came back up after cache/dalvik wipe
2. On AOKP (CM based) - Flash and wipe cache/dlavik, took a while longer but booted up normally, but I guess it will settle
Still trying to figure out how and what to use it for but just wanted to report back that the flashing process went well!!

mmm, stucking in checking it's very strange. Maybe compile a full zip here https://github.com/offensive-security/kali-nethunter (you have to clone
https://github.com/offensive-security/nethunter-devices, too (branch experimental) then for build with full chroot, just type:
$ python build.py -d kiwi --marshmallow --release v1.0 --rootfs-full
Anyway i will upload the zip with full chroot once i finish my cm14 port for a5

Thanks man, I wish I knew enough to compile and run things on github just edited by previous post.....it seems it got stuck because of no root access and busybox missing. Lemme know if i can test things out for you, glad to be of any help that way!

Why "wifite" does not recognize my hama adapter with Ralink RT2500 chipset?!
It is identified but when I choose the interface, it still returns the menu of choice
thanks for your help

Thanks bro
I even tried the alfa rtl8187l chipset without any result,
The problem is the low current for the adapter from the phone,
The usb hub with an external power supply maybe solves the problem, but it is not practical for a displacement
thanks again DeadSquirrel01

Maybe we might be missing some Application to support it, but my kernel adds support for it.
Took the commit from nexus 7 (2012).
P.s. Check the r24.1 branch on my Git.

lmfao. Google at first. Smartdimmer is a HARDWARE thing. We don't have this hardware function. Kernel just contains the driver for communicating with a smartdimmer. You can enable anything you want, but it will not work because of lack of the hw part.

Cuz we need android HAL which will be compatible with nvidia's HAL and our cameras inside kernel. Or we need to write V4L2 kernel drivers for our cameras.
about this one
git
1) I won't revert it cuz I use more then 2Gb
2) Look at nvidia's default config at first
You try to sound smart, but in fact you know nothing about our tablet.
Reserve. I hope the author put back download link. The kernel feuture is promising. Hope we can test it. Thanks.
Up, hope to see this kernel again
