[Q] Smartwatch connectivity, barcode scan - please help - Xperia Z1 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, i have two problems with my Xperia device. I use Android 4.4.4 (14.4.A.0.108)
First, i have a problem with Sony Smartwatch MN2 and connecting them to my phone.
My previous phone was HTC One S, and my Smartwatch worked very well with it.
Now, i set up my Smartwatch with my new Sony Xperia Z1 compact. But i have a problem. I connect them with my phone, but when i run app on smartwatch like missed calls, or messages, it loads normaly, but when i try to run weather, or smart camera, or any app like this, it takes veeery long time to load so my smartwatch turn off display or if i still touch it with my fingers, it loads after 20 seconds.
I know this is not normal, i still use stamina mode and other baterry saving features from Sony, but i also tried to turn them all off, restart phone, but smartwatch dont still work as they should. Can you advise me something?
I have one else very strange problem. I do not have pre paid datas from my service provider, so i have turned them off, and i in NoRoot firewall denied all IP adresses that can be connedcted to with mobile datas. When i turn them on, i cant load anything, so i know NoRoot firewall works. But when i am on the wifi, after sometimes one minute, there comes a message from my service provider, that i have to pay for downloaded datas 0,0009€ (so i got this message 10 times a day and it is together 1 cent - 0,01€), it is not much of course, but, when the message comes 10x a day and wakes u up at night, it is not very good. But when i am not connected to wifi, these sms don´t come from my provider. It is very strange. Where can be the problem?
And last little question - is there any free offline app, for example i scan a barcode from my loyality card, and it will be stored in my phone and ready to use in store?

[Q[LiveView

I'm thinking of picking up a liveview soon but I've been researching and seeing that there are some connection problems. A lot of the reviews are from 2010 though so I'm wondering if these have been fixed.
i got one but i have never used . there is connectivity issue. i sometime manage to connect it with my play some time it just disconnect so i no longer bother to use it.
I heard that Sony Ericsson has update the firmware of liveview which improves the connectivity of it. However I didn't have that, so it might not true.
One of the reason I didn't go for it is because its battery life is just 4 days for standby. Means that I can't treat it as a watch...
no after update there is still same issue
Did you happen to find a better accessory?
Don't get it. Horrible battery life and it refuses to stay connected
It disconnects because of Android, the OS just kills the Connection due to ressources. So you need something like a taskmanager which controls the app.
But i still like it, often it just needs 1 sec. to connect again.
pros:
- control your music player
- you can read sms, email, rss, ...
- calendar
- ohh and of course you can see the time , even then the phone is disconnected
cons:
- battery lasts only about 1 day
- disconnects immediately if the phone is about 1 meter away
- less development, even then it has great potencial
if you still have questions just ask, in my opinion it's a great device, i don't like watches, but this one has much more to offer then a normal watch, also its quite cheap (in EU)... give it a try, buy it from amazon and if you don't like it, just send it back
sorry for my bad language

Yes LiveView IS a great device, but the connectivity issue will make you mad.
It disconnects because of Android (the OS would kill the LiveView app aperiodically), but the device only supports Android phones, no WM ones.
I heard someone was porting its function to Windows Mobile, and then the device must be a very useful tool when it's been done.
Somehow, it's not time to buy it now.
Just got one in the mail today but it's for someone else who got interested when he saw my Sony Ericsson MBW-150.
A slight necro so my apologies.
Got an Xperia Play the other day and got round to syncing it to my previously unreliable LiveView.
Xperia detected what it was and installed the relevant software via LiveWare Manager (installed as stock on mine) and it has so far worked flawlessly for 2 days with no syncing issues.
Considering it previously disconnected every 5 minutes Im impressed.
Couldnt the process just be locked in memory using supercharger? Would that fix this disconnect issue people talk about? Im interested in getting one but this issue puts me off.
I may try it again but its pretty poor and I would not buy one again.....
They were £17.99 from play.com but still feel I have wasted money....
Can't believe you have to take it out of the case to charge it and then place it back on, I wonder who actually was responsible for the design, am sure I can do a better job with my eyes closed.
I bought the LiveView today and I must say I really like the device and it's really handy. You might want to put some extra attention at your internal memory because the device disconnects (BT gets terminated) when the internal memory gets below ~50mb.
One thing: I don't know why you guys are so whining about the connectivity issue, when the device disconnects it just takes one maybe two minutes to reconnect again.

It's because sometimes it doesn't reconnect....
I do this 3 steps:
-1º step
-Using Root Explorer, apply the Fivef Process (this seems to be needed only for non-Sense 2.3.x ROMs - looks like Sense in 2.2 builds allows LV to connect without confirmation).

I have found a solution for the repairing problems occurred on my desire HD with cyanogen 7 RC 1.
copy this file with e.g. root explorer to your SD card. edit it with e.g. astro as described below and then copy it back with root explorer. Restart your device.
/data/misc/bluetoothd/[device bt id]/linkkeys
your linkkeys file has to look something like that:
00:1D:BAD:8C:57 FF579860A41CD5A627D9D1596526715C 0 4
00:01:95:08:20:6F 809CC84592E6C1B06AB750170C365812 0 4
6C:23:B9:9B:4A:85 5AF503E766858EA7916D46C16DD31A34 0 4
The last entry is my liveview.
I just changed the last two numbers from I think
-1 0 to 0 4 so that it looks like the other entries.
The 0 is the linkkey type and the 4 the pin lenght.
But I don't know what the 0 stands for.
Have no time for futher research.
I just know that now the liveview automatically reconnects without an annoying pairing prompt.

-2º Step
- Find in the market & install the BEST Android program I've seen yet - "AutomateIt!"
- Create the following rule in this program:
-TRIGGER: BLUETOOTH DEVICE CONNECTED (LIVEVEW)
-ACTION: START APPLICATION (LIVEVIEW)
Using this incredible program, you can completely control every aspect of your phone's behavior - for example, automatically start PlayerPro and disable WiFi when wired headset is connected, automatically start WiFi when GPS detects that you have entered your home or office (!) and do million other cool things.
-3º Step
-Install liveviewcharm from market:
This application will maintain processes from "liveview app" always on, preventing android system to kill them. The LiveView app needs to put itself in the Notifications bar in order to keep from getting killed when it's in the background.
I think that guide will fix all liveview connection problems with all compatible devices and CM7/MIUI/STOCK.

Mobile Network Traffic despite WLAN connected

Hi,
when my HOX is lying near by PC Speakers, i can hear Internet Traffic over EDGE/UMTS excatly all 3 Minutes. (I hope u can understand what i mean)
I´m wondering about that bescause WIFI is active and connected, and i never had this with my DHD.
Due to optimizing Battery life, i disable mobile Network manually when i´m at home and have WIFI connected.
I use ARHD 9.1.0 with stock Kernel and EQS + APM + %Batterycircle + Autobrighness by jotha.
Baseband: 2.1204.135.20
Build; 2.17.401.2 CL89015
Any Ideas whats generating this traffic and why the HOX don´t use WIFI for that?
its normal gsm traffic. like if somebody sent you an sms, you would hear that sound. not sure why it didn't do it with dhd and now does with hox, but either way, shielded speakers are there to solve that problem. as for adapting your current speakers to shield them, not sure if its possible or not though.

Thanks for your Answer, but i don´t hear that Traffic if mobile Network is disabled, so i thinkt it can´t be "normal GSM Traffic".
oh i see what you mean..
might be network location services?
settings>location>google's location service.
i know the location services use wifi as well, but it might use mobile network in conjuction even if connected to wifi.. try disable that and see if it continues.

Thanks again, tested, but unfortunately the traffic is still there
try download osmonitor, might be other apps more specific that can help, but osmonitor should do the trick i hope.
set your screen not to turn off, just for ease..
goto the connections tab, process tab will also be useful and watch it until the noise happens. you're looking for either a process, that jumps to the top of the list when the sound happens (spike in cpu usage), and then does it every time the sound happens, or a connection, that ISN'T your local or external wifi ip address, but also has similar behaviour, ie the connection is created when the sound occurs, and is then gone a minute later.. (the connection should show an app name)
if you find an app that looks like it could be causing it, then try to uninstall it temporarily to see if it fixes the issue. if it does fix the problem, the next step would be to contact the developer of that app to request a fix for it. it could however be a system process causing the problem.
failing the above, you could try the same sort of diagnostics, but with logcat instead. i don't actually know how to initiate logcat, i'm sure a google will tell you how though.
Thanks again! (i´ll hit the Button )
Okay, got that app installed.
Unfortunately the Sound DOES NOT appear all 3 Minutes when the Display is on.
When it starts and i unlock my screen i cant see any new entries in the Connectionstab.
Processes the same, but "Android System" shortly came on Top. (maybe the Display Unlock is the Reason for that?)
BTW: Why i got 2 permanent open Connections?
1. Google Bookmark-Sync (Whois -> Google)
2. Downloadmanager (Whois -> "The New York Internet Company")
Not idea what that could be.

you should be able to set the display to never turn off in settings>display and gestures
i don't think it'll be very easy if even possible to find it if the screens off (the spike would only be there for a second or 2, by the time it's unlocked etc it will have disappeared)
the other connections, first one is probably the google account sync, and not sure about download manager, maybe something got stuck, you could try clearing data for the download app, but to be honest i doubt that they're any problem anyway so probably nothing to worry about
edit: the download manager bit judging by the whois could be an app relating to that? do you have anything similarly named installed?

This is crazy - when the screen is on, the sound isnt audible. It only happens when the screen is off.
In the Connections Tab is only one Connection without my WiFi-IP, and whois shows me its a DNS Server from my Carrier (vodafone).
In the Process Tab i can see that "System" comes up on Top for ca 2 seconds, further no action.
The 2 Connections which stays established:
Clearing the Donwloadmanager Data was a Success... Thanx again.
The Connection to Google from "Google Bookmark-Sync" is still there. Gmail Sync is deactivated in accounts.
I think i´ll give it up and live with it

[Q] yaaad popups (urgent help required)

I am sick and tired of the yaaad popup virus/malware. At one time it was on 2 of my laptops and currently is on 3 of my android phones!
It happens whenever I click any link on any page inside any browser (chrome, default browser or dolphin browser) and a popup window is there starting always with image14.yaaad.com/LINKOFWEBPAGE.US and then it goes to google for a second and then goes to LINKOFWEBPAGE.US etc and then there are lot of ADs there. other variants are http:// images17.yaaad.com/. Everytime a new website opens and same style and new ADs come.
At the bottom of every popup page is '2015 GoDaddy.com, LLC. All Rights reserved' written.
It actually started in one go around 3 months back and go on 2 of my laptops and 2 cell phones both running Android. I freaked out when it came on my personal laptop and I used around 10 different Malwares removal and somehow I was able to remove it from my personal laptop ( The bad part is I dont know which software removed it )
The other work laptop still has the issue and it does not travel through USB etc.
My other android phones have this issue as well (Galaxy Nexus). Whether I use 3G of WiFi the popup comes and after they have opened up 3,4 times they stop for a while and then after a few hours etc, they come back again as if it's an endless loop. When I touch a link, the popup always opens in a new tab.
I recently bought a new tablet (WiFi only) and new phone as well. Both are using the same gmail ID and I am using WiFi on the tablet and no popup issue is there but when I inserted my sim (the old phone sim) the popup virus began on the new phone on the first webpage I opened (it wasnt there before I put in the new sim). The sim card cannot have this issue as I recently got micro sim issued....
HELP ME OUT: There are 100s of softwares for cleaning PC, but I cannot access phone internal system and clean it as when you connect phone to laptop, you can only access the internal memory and the SD card and that's it....
I tried on my new phone something different which was to use a brand new gmail ID and I installed one app at a time to see if some APP is generating it. I installed whatsapp and then checked browser for half a day nothing happened, then I installed facebook and no issue, messenger followed and no issue took place and then VLC media player. Just yesterday morning I transferred my old phone contacts through a .vcf to my new phone and after 24 hours the popups are back.
Kindly help me as I feel that after these popups appear, they are draining the battery much faster and the popups are just annoying. Maybe my phone is at risk as well.
I have attached screen shots as well.
Tried downloading an antivirus from the play store? No idea how well they work!
Brother you might want to check your router
Sounds like someone has setup a DNS redirect which is why you keep getting those popups on all devices
I suggest changing the password to all your credentials because they would have been intercepted by the server that the traffic is being directed through

Won't stay connected

Just got this watch. I had the Moto 360 before, it worked fine.
This doesn't want to stay connected. I have to reset the watch, uninstall Android Wear and re-install it, then it'll connect once. After that, it disconnects and won't connect again. So notifications, syncing, weather, etc don't work.
Looking at my phone in Android Wear it just says Connecting.... on the watch, it says disconnected. Going into Bluetooth settings doesn't do a damn thing either.
Try Bluetooth Auto Connect from Playstore, it´s working for me on a Note3 with Omega Rom
Thanks for the reply. I managed to sort it out... I missed the step to click "trust device" during the initial set up. I didn't realize that was a necessary step for the watch to stay connected. You'd think it'd just do it automatically.
I don´t know, if it´s automatic, but i have the function with klicking on "trust device", no change, only the "Blutetoot Auto Connect" app is working.
This piece of crap is doing it again. Once its been disconnected, it won't connect again without complelety startinh over and resetting everything.
I'll check out that app.
You know, people can bash apple all they want, but at least their **** actually works properly.
Hasn't happened in a while, but if mine won't connect I just go to the android wear app and disconnect the Zenwatch then connect again. Works every time...
Tried that, many times.. never works. That app doesn't work either.
Well this is a serious problem I've had the watch for about six weeks now it took awhile to get initial set up to begin with I was at the point to return it on the first day , then I don't know how but it just paired and started working fine , I was very happy until today turned the watch on it wasn't paired and I've literally been trying for hours to get this chit to connect with no luck I've reset it ,tried the app mentioned above no luck at this point I give up I bough it at best buy but I'm past the return period I'm going to try and find some customer service rep ,at this point I give up trying to get the watch to work,if anyone knows of a customer service phone number I would greatly appreciate it , or if anyone here has any helpful information , ,I'm pretty tech wavy. But I surrender at this point what a shame I really liked the watch but the aggravation factor is to much ,sorry for the.long rant but there's no where else to vent or look for help maybe together as a group we can find some answers again any help would be greatly appreciated......

Thank's for replying but yes I've tried everything under the sun , just got home from work , going to see if I can't find a customer service number , if I can't get it resolved by the weekend I might as well throw 200$ in the Trash because That's where it's Going ....................:crying:
Go to settings / apps on your phone. Find google play services under running apps. See if device connection service is running. If not try rebooting your phone then the watch in that order and try to pair. You could also check if there is an update for play services and update if there is.

Same issue here, boxing up my ZenWatch and bringing it back to Best Buy today. Still within the 15 days. I really like the watch but these random disconnects are a killer. Most of the time it auto-reconnects but every now and then I have to reboot everything--which is kinda ridiculous if I'm out running.
At least I'll have a different watch with everything else the same for comparison sake and report back.
Have you tried uninstalling zenwatch manager? Mine started disconnecting after the last update, and uninstalling seems to have fixed my issue
Sent from my SM-N900P using XDA Free mobile app
I had the same problem I think the update from google services broke it.
unpair the watch from your phone then factory reset the watch and this is IMPORTANT pair your watch using "android wear" NOT the Bluetooth from the system phone
after I paired my watch using Android Wear now the watch stay connected and reconnect normally

After half a day working this seems to be the solution, thanks. :good:
Bad luck: two days later same problem persists (frequently disconnecting)
I am getting pretty tired of my Zenwatch not staying connected either. $200 is a lot of money for a watch that doesn't work right. It's had three or four updates since I bought it and it still sucks, should have sent it back the first week.
The Google nag to enable Google Now in the Android Wear screen is also a sore spot with me, if I wanted it enabled it would be enabled.
This whole "wearables" thing seems to be a poorly executed fad more than anything else, one that I'll be avoiding from here on out.
why would you have a watch that relies so heavily on google now and not enable it? connection has been just fine for me no several phones and software versions since I got it in January

Same here. I mean, it has disconnected maybe 3 times since I got it in November, but it hasn't been a big issue. Toggling BT on the phone reconnected it. I also agree with you about Google Now. It's central to how Wear works. Using a Wear device without Now would be like buying a car and trying to drive it without starting the engine.

You don't need Google now to benefit from owning this watch.
1. I like the ability to change watch faces and create my own with Watchmaker.
2. I can answer or dismiss a call from the watch.
3. Text and email notifications.
That's all I care about, anything else is an unnecessary distraction.

General connectivity issues

Hey folks!
I just picked up the BS3 after being generally disappointed for most of a year with the Razer Phone 2. I got the EU version (I guess?) and have been having general issues with the wireless.
Periodically, almost the entire suite of wireless connectivity just drops. My WearOS watch (Ticwatch Pro 2020) will disconnect, and the custom watchface I use via Watchfaces disappears. Wifi usually keeps working so I may not notice the drop right away, but if I'm on my phone's cellular connection, nothing goes through even though it shows signal and LTE. In my car on my way home from work this morning I was on the phone with my captain, and the bluetooth connection to my car started cutting in and out, to the point that I had to turn bluetooth off to finish the call. There was no issue up to that point, while driving and listening to Audible.
I am suspecting/hoping it was user error in setting the device up. I backed up my RP2 to Google Drive, because I didn't want to lose my apps/data (I was mostly hoping my Swype settings and game logins would transfer over, since Swype died and I'm being a luddite, and the games require the hassle of 'transfer IDs') and have my text messages transfer over easily. I think it also possibly transferred the core device stuff like cellular and bluetooth settings as well, though am not sure.
Turning airplane mode on and off seems to 'reset' things and it'll reconnect to stuff, for a while again at least. I noticed I am somehow still getting at least some push notifications on my watch even though it shows as disconnected. I am a firefighter, on AT&T's Firstnet, so am also not sure if maybe the Firstnet bands might be being finnicky with the BS3.
Thanks ahead of time for any help and suggestions!
ETA: I also get the "Xiaomi SIM activation failed" alert every time I restart the phone, and sometimes after reboot the keyboard doesn't load. ? I get the feeling ill need to reflash again, but knowing where I went wrong first would help! Also curious if there is a stock Android ROM because this JoyUI seems a hassle, and I just don't want all the Xiaomi stuff.
