There isn't really a way to check if the bootloader is locked or unlocked. The user must know this info about their phone before they continue.

It looks like the toolkit may have lost contact with the device while pushing. You can do it manually by going to the Commands tab in the toolkit, then clicking on the "Push File" button. Then, find the Data folder created by the toolkit, go to the Installers folder, and click on SuperSU.zip. When it finishes pushing, go to the left side of the toolkit under the Reboot box and hit Recovery. Finally, when you're in recovery, hit Install in the top left, scroll until you find SuperSU.zip, and flash it. You should be rooted after that.:good:

Thank you

Windroid HTC Desire D820US support (mediatek MT6752 SOC)
Hello
In the attached spreadsheet we can find the dual sim D820U (snapdragon 615 soc) version which is supported.
But it seems the D820US version (with mediatek mt65752) is not supported (well i could not find it so I believe it is not supported).
Previously in the thread, somedbody asks if the mediatek version was supported and you replied that the dual sim version is supported.
So careful here because there are 2 dual sim version one with Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 (d820u mostly for EU and US) and one with Mediatek Mt6752 (d820us mostly for India and China and with some EU frequencies).
So please can you confirm the support for d820us dual sim with Mediatek Mt6752 SOC ?
If yes please could you update the spreadsheet as this is a bit confusing.
Thanks.
regards
Arnaud

This tool goes through all of the options properly and also shows device unlock sucessful...but when i go to the bootloader on device it shows locked

Hi, I am having problems with the supersu file, i tried doing it through the command tab and it still doesn't show up n the install tab in twrp recovery, how do i fix this? ive tried over a dozen times and placed it in different places to see if that was the problem and have tried other zip files as well for it, but nothing is working. would really love for this to not be the one phone i cannot root, it unlocked with the toolkit, so i know everything else worked fine. so please please please help.

Hey,
you should sign up to htc dev, then unlock your bootloader that way.
They explain everything easy, although HTC one X is not listed in the models, just use other supported devices. It works, i know cos i done it myself

You need to install the stock ROM, if you do:
fastboot getvar mainver
I think, and then you can find the RUU with the matching number and flash it.
Let us know what you get returned from fastboot command.
How to install stock Rom I think I have already install custom Rom, coz I have no vodafon logo or software, what is ruu? Actually I don't know anything about Rom and root. Plz help me..

Hello! You can try these instructions that a quoted. But there have been reports that HBOOT 3.18 is not compatible with firewater, some say Sunshine S-Off is the only way left. Sunshine was created by the devs of firewater but they insist on charging (playing) for this one. In the case it is not compatible with your device they won't take charge you.
ETA:
Here's what I did for those that care
Purchased the phone from AT&T online
Received it yesterday. Software number 1.12.502.18
Used HTCDev to unlock the bootloader
Used this tool: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2699065
To Root and Install TWRP
Installed HTC SynManager and it installed the drivers. I LEFT HTC SYNCMANAGER INSTALLED. I was going to uninstall HTC Syncmanager if I ran into problems
Turned off Screenlock
From Developers Menu, made sure I checked do not put device to sleep when plugged in
Screen Timeout was set to 1 hour
USB Debugging on
Install from Unknown Sources was checked as well
My AndroidSDK folder is in the root of my C: Drive, I placed the firewater file in the Platform Tools folder and "Shift+Right Click" and selected Open Command Window Here
I followed the steps posted on the firewater-soff.com site
adb wait-for-device push firewater /data/local/tmp
adb shell
su
chmod 755 /data/local/tmp/firewater
/data/local/tmp/firewater
I DID NOT DO ADB REBOOT COMMAND
I don't think I did anything special, but in case anyone else has an AT&T Phone with the same software number, you could give it a try and let us know how it turns out?
Good luck folks!

Stuck
I cant proceed to the last step
"This will load the image to your device and all you have to to now is wait for your phone to boot the image. Once you are in the 'recovery' you should see a orange purple background.

Regaining root access on 4.4.4? philz-recovery and stock rom via htc one m8 toolkit
So I made the bad choice of upgrading to 4.4.4 already (or so it seems to be bad) on my unlocked htc one m8 phone.
I originally rooted on 4.4.3 with the htc one m8 toolkit and followed the root with stock recovery manual using the philz cwm recovery. I then decided to upgrade to 4.4.4. via the software update on the phone
Basically tried to upload the image again so I could root again and it just crashes at the fastboot menu. I also tried to load the twrp recovery and it just rebooted my phone.
The main question: do I basically just have to wait for some update to come about for the philz_recovery image? Or is there potential i'm doing something wrong on 4.4.4.
EDIT: fixed it.. for some reason couldn't flash over the philz recover image.. maybe I did something wrong, but I got the TWRP to work through a standard fastboot flash recovery.. Back in business.
failed root
Once you have the bootloader unlocked download this recovery:
Philz CWM Advanced Edition Recovery
Then go back into the bootloader (you can use the 'ADB' section of the toolkit) and make sure its in FASTBOOT USB mode.
Once you are in the bootloader you'll need to open up a cmd window.
Once that's open you'll need to type:
Code:
fastboot boot
(leave a space after 'boot') then drag the recovery image we downloaded earlier onto the cmd window.
This will load the image to your device and all you have to to now is wait for your phone to boot the image. Once you are in the 'recovery' you should see a orange purple background. Goto:
=> Philz Options (something like that. Its near the bottom of the list)
=> Root device (SuperSU) {its near the top of the list)
This will root your device or at least put the SU Binaries on your phone. All you have to do is reboot your phone. (Keep going back untill you see 'reboot device now'.)
When your phone is booted up just goto the Play Store and download SuperSU by Chainfire. Open it up and you should have root! This will keep the stock recovery so you can install firmware updates later on from HTC.
I hope this helped!

Help Please!!! Installing OTA Update on rooted HTC ONE M8
I recently rooted my One M8 (with no issues) using Hasoon 2000's excellent tool.
Yesterday my phone flashed up the OTA for KitKat 4.4.4 and I downloaded, but when I tried to install it took me to TWRP recovery where I selected the OTA zip file ran it but it didn't update. When I booted back into android the update flashed up again asking if I wanted to install. Tried again but no luck
Can anyone tell me what I need to do in order to install the update please?
Many thanks
HTC One M8 Toolkit
I'm about to hit my One M8 with a sledgehammer. I've been trying to root it with the toolkit but when I hit Get Token ID it says that the device can't be found. I've read through the whole thread and have tried everything suggested that isn't too advanced. I've tried it with two different computers and the same thing happens: nothing. I've installed HTC Sync Manager on both PCs and the software doesn't detect the phone in neither. Windows does detect it.

I used this guide. After finding out my model is not compatible with firewater to S-OFF and not wanting to pay for sunshine, I had to use OTAs to update the firmware. You don't need to delete root access but you need to flash stock recovery back to use the OTA update. Its removes root access anyway but SuperSU is still installed.
I do think you need to unlock the bootloader to gain root through custom recovery as you said.
i have a doubt since you have closed the links for htc one m7 root toolkit does this one m8 toolkit work on m7 too??
rooting problem
hey i am using the htc one m8 eye i have unlocked my bootloader, the software status on the bootloader mode reads
device software: modified

but shows s-on
after flashing the twrp recovery many times my device still doesnt seem to open up twrp and whenever i click recovery it boots back to the fastboot page in the bootloader, i am really stuck
can someone please guide how to go about this now? as i have no clue what to do next.
thank you.

Rooting HTC One (M8) Question
So I'm trying to root my HTC One (M8), I've downloaded Hasoon2000's toolkit. I'm to the point where I am trying Boot Into Bootloader, but every time I run that, it says device not found. I have debugging on and everything. Any help is appreciated...
I need help unlocking the bootloader!
So I tried following the directions on htcdev.com but i came to the part where i type "fastboot oem get_identifier_token" and type it into adb and it just sits there at "<waiting for device>". I have done everything correctly to the best of my knowledge. Now i did a little troubleshooting and found out that my one m8 is recognized by adb when the phone is booted up and in the OS but when I go to the bootloader by typing "adb reboot bootloader" and it goes to bootloader and i type the command to get the token is says waiting for device again so then I typed adb devices and ithe phone is not recognized. I have no idea why this is happening so I'm relying on this Q&A thread for help. Tried googling and so far I've gotten "switch USB ports". I've switched it and it hasn't worked. I've also tried using the tool and i get the same result and i followed all the directions from the toolkit from step 1 to 5. Thanks in advance for any help.
Will this tool work with 4.4.4?
I have the latest version of Android on my HTC one M8. I was wondering if this tool is still effective for my phone?
Will OTA still work with root?
I want to root my ATT M8 and I know an OTA is coming early Janruary. I I do t want to have to redo the root and I want to make sure I still get the OTA. So should I just wait.
im trying to get my main version number but when i hit getvar all i get everything but my main version
will this work on HTC One M8 Eye ?
will the perm root will still work with the new AT&T 4.4.4 KitKat OS?
will the perm root will still work with the new AT&T 4.4.4 KitKat OS?

Past details of HTC bravo
Android 2.3
Hboot 1.02.001
I tried to unlock the bootloader by
1- HTC dev method
I started by the same procedure given on the website. But the procedure didn't work for me, when I commanded adb devices it never showed my phone then when I commanded ' get oem identifier token ' I got another error. I got frustrated
2- Then I went on to the mini_adb method by using shell, Su commands
It neither worked
3- After that I came across the downgrade and boot method, it resulted into a brick
But no worries my pals !!
Unbricked successfully !!
basically it was an Indian phone so some strong securities

Past details of HTC bravo
Android 2.3
Hboot 1.02.001
I tried to unlock the bootloader by
1- HTC dev method
I started by the same procedure given on the website. But the procedure didn't work for me, when I commanded adb devices it never showed my phone then when I commanded ' get oem identifier token ' I got another error. I got frustrated
2- Then I went on to the mini_adb method by using shell, Su commands
It neither worked
3- After that I came across the downgrade and boot method, it resulted into a brick
But no worries my pals !!
Unbricked successfully !!
basically it was an Indian phone so some strong securities
first installed this to my phone which had 2.3 android and hboot 1.02.001
RUU_Bravo_hTC_Asia_India_1.21.720.4_Radio_32.36.00 .28U_4.06.00.02_2_release_127705_signed.exe
then my phone got bricked due to downgrade. the led screen blackout happened and a vibrate was at the startup and can navigate volume buttons only*

You don't need an RUU for that.
After unlocking the bootloader and installing custom recovery TWRP; use TWRP to make a backup "nandroid" of the stock ROM.
If you have problems rooting, you can just restore the backup nandroid using TWRP.
How to do that... I mean unlock the bootloader and flash twrp...? I've searched and found procedure but not getting the twrp version for my os (6.0)
And what about s-off or on please make me understand these things also dude.....

To unlock the bootloader, simply go to HTCDev.com, and follow the process there to setup a login and unlock the bootloader. There are full instruction on the website on how to unlock bootloader.

From what I understand (you should research and confirm) the same TWRP version works for all M8 variants (including dual SIM). TWRP 3.0.0.0 is the latest:
https://twrp.me/devices/htconem8gsm.html
After unlocking the bootloader, follow the instruction to flash TWRP with fastboot.
After installing TWRP, flash SuperSU 2.65 or later to root Marshmallow.

What about s-off? Why do you think you need it? I don't think you would be able to do much with s-off on the m8 dual SIM.

Help me dude...... If you experts will not help us then we except help from whom.... Please dude
What you're asking for are all basic questions answered a dozen times all around this forum. Please use the search function an read the how tos on how to unlock, flash TWRP, backup, root and uproot/back to stock guides. Those will give you all the information you'll need. It's better to do a little reading to understand what one's doing instead of being spoon feed step by step without the prior named knowledge. That exact knowledge is everything in case something will go wrong, as we can only help people who can describe exactly in which step it occurred.
Send by the swarm intelligence of my coffee machine ?.

There may not be an RUU available for your phone. However, before someone here can help you, you need to post the getvar results as ckpv5 said earlier. If you don't have fastboot installed on your computer, you need to do that first. Plug your phone into a usb port on your computer and then, open the folder on your computer that fastboot.exe is in. Then press and hold the shift key while right clicking on a blank spot in the folder. In the menu that appears, choose command prompt here. In command prompt window that opens, type fastboot getvar all. Then copy and paste the output from the command here. Remove the imei and serial number before posting it here.
