[TOOL/APP] Busy Box 1.24 - Nexus 9 Android Development

I noticed how difficult it was to get busybox installed on my nexus 9. So, I decided to compile busybox and I went with version 1.24 instead of the default 1.22.1. Maybe this will help someone, maybe not. I am currently using it on my nexus 9 and its working great. I am pretty sure you can figure out what to do with the files. Symlinks are included, customize to your needs. Link for download posted below!
WARNING
There is an applet named "su" in the symlinks folder under bin. DO NOT INSTALL THIS. IT WILL OVERWRITE YOUR SU BINARY AND YOU WILL LOSE ROOT.

[ROM][11/11/10][G2/DZ] NO SENSE: 1.22.531.8 HTC Vision Stock with Online Kitchen (r1)

I'm pleased to present my repack of the stock ROM for the HTC Vision! READ THIS WHOLE POST BEFORE YOU START! No, really, it contains everything you need to know.
Remember that if you use this ROM, you do so entirely at your own risk!!
About MoDaCo stock ROM repacks
Unlike a MCR (MoDaCo Custom ROM) release, a stock ROM repack is as close to the stock ROM as possible. Only root / Superuser and an insecure boot image is added. The benefits of the repack are providing a rollback option in update zip format as well as providing an online kitchen to remove parts that are not required.
A MCR release of this ROM is also available!
Requirements
In order to use this ROM on your device, you must have a custom recovery image installed (Clockwork Mod).
THIS ROM SHOULD RUN ON BOTH THE G2 AND THE DESIRE Z!
Features
Repack of the 1.22.531.8 (OTA) ROM
Pre-rooted with su and Superuser Permissions by ChainsDD
Insecure boot image (ro.secure=0)
Changelog
Please see the post below this one for the changes in each release.
Installation
To install this ROM:
Download the zip file of your choice from the links below (or the online kitchen) and copy to your SD card
Restart your device in recovery mode
PERFORM A NANDROID BACKUP FROM THE MENU
Select the option to apply an update zip, and select the zip file you copied to your memory card
Upgrading
No wipe is explicitly required in order to use this ROM (unless you are coming from a 'Sense' ROM), however if you do encounter issues of any kind, it is recommended that you wipe your device and reproduce the issue before raising it here.
Downloads
This ROM is now available in the online kitchen - see the post below for details! In addition to the kitchen, a prebaked download is available.

Thanks
It's impossible to mention everyone who contributes to the Android community by name, but to everyone out there who does great work and shares it with us all - you have my gratitude and respect.
And finally...
Details on how to donate should you wish to do so are in download topic at MoDaCo.
Enjoy!

COOKIN' ROMS LIKE A BOSS
Thanks, Paul. Looking forward to your SenseUI build for American Visions
Works perfectly. Very snappy. Using it with the ROM kitchen is a nice way to customize exactly the ROM you want. I used that to keep my old email.apk that doesn't ask for a alphanumeric password every time I want to use the phone.

Correct.

Pual, I for the life of me can't seem to get this overclocked. I should be able to overclock this using the steps in the link below correct? Oh, and by the way I love the rom. I used baconbit, which was great until i found out I couldn't use my extended battery on it.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=813681
I've done a total wipe and installed your rom and my app with titanium. Here's the link.
I've put the ota ko file in the root of the my sd. And ran the attached .sh files in gscript, but all i get is errors.
Edit: nevermind I see that the OP to the overclocking post no longer supports it. I guess ill have to go with the new kernal and hope it works with extended batteries. Thanks for reading.

[MOD] Script to clean up basic Darky's ROM 9.2 Resurrect Edtition

For anyone annoyed with the useless Dutch and otherwise unremovable things in Darky's ROM 9.2 I made a simple Bash script, to remove them without installing any additional applications. It was tested only on Darky's ROM 9.2 Resurrection Edition without installed third-party applications.
Steps: Get my script for cleaning up basic Darky's ROM 9.2 Resurrect Edition here, connect over USB in USB debugging mode, get ADB command to work (./bin/adblinux) and run ./cleandarky92.sh.
It will remove:
FileIndex
PressReader
Samsung
Telegraaf
DigiLezen
There are also other useless things you can remove by yourself with Task Manager if you are not using them:
Voodoo Control App (if you are using SpeedMod kernel)
FasterFix
More info on: http://gw.tnode.com/0469-Android/
For those who do not know what this is about, just ignore it... This was sent to the Q&A forum, because I don't have sufficient permissions to post to the development forums where it belongs with working links.
You could also just use Root Explorer and delete the .apk file in /system/app directory and then reboot your phone.
thats what i did anyway.

True, or copy it to another place. There are probably also other things that need to be cleaned up that is why I started writing this script.

@OP
Thanks for the script - good temporary solution.
Or get Root uninstaller from the market, does the same thing as Root explorer (uninstall stock apps), but for free .

you shouldn'd remove that
this app allows you to control the voodoo sound settings - for every kernel that is using voodoo sound, as speedmod does

Wow, thanks heaps for the notice as I was just going to try to solve this flashing a stable rom.
At the moment I even get an error when I try to reinstall the app from the market... will try to do it manually and google some more for possible fixes.
Greets
Just reinstalled the latest stable, cleared market data, and Samba Filesharing seems to work. Perhaps it had something to do with the auto app install after rom flash kicking in and messing things up... glad to be back on track.

Guys, install Busybox v1.18.5 by Stericson. Looks like the Samba File Sharing app only works with this version.

I had emailed him with issues, he emailed me the link to his forum here on xda, which has attached his latest development.. I suppose it will be available on the market soon enough.. But, that is how I got mine working.

I was having the same problems using Samba on my Arc (CM7.1) - I resolved it by downloading the latest Dev version of the Samba app from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=8239139&postcount=128
At the bottom of that post, click to show the QR code for 'SambaFilesharing-dev-110905.zip', or download it directly and transfer to your phone.
After installing that version, Samba now works fine with CM7.1. Hope that helps.

mROM - Busybox included?

I have mROM installed which should have busybox by default. I do not see it listed. Is there a "special" way to open it?

Busybox isn't an app in apk form that you run. It adds (needed) functionality for some root apps. You shou have a busybox binary in /system/xbin.

[MOD][KERNEL MODULE] wp_mod: disable system write protection

wp_mod: Module to disable system write protection
This is a kernel module that disables write protection on the system partition while running the stock kernel.
I do not have the Desire 816, I have the HTC One (m8). It should work on this device as well.
HTC changed the MMC_MUST_PREVENT_WP_VIOLATION code to make it much harder to crack. I had to redo the module completely, so this is experimental. In the past, it was a simple matter of changing a variable, now we have to replace a function in the kernel so it returns something different, causing the kernel to skip over the write protection code.
So far I have not found any problems.
DO NOT attempt to load the module after attempting to make changes to the system partition. It could end up corrupting the filesystem. If the module is loaded at boot, there should be no worries.
This module will probably need to be updated to load with future kernels when they are released.
Download:
wp_mod.ko
Installation:
Wait for it to be implemented in your favourite ROM
* or *
Copy the module to your device, and type
Code:
su
insmod /location-where-you-copied-it/wp_mod.ko
Changes:
April 2, 2014 - wp_mod 4.1
-only return non-existing partition number if called by generic_make_request_checks
-remove exit from module (we don't want to be able to unload it)
-clean up code
March 31, 2014 - wp_mod 4.0

I keep getting a 403 forbidden regardless of browser. I think it's an actual issue with Goo (I've experienced a few headaches hosting on there myself).
Do you happen to have a mirror?
Thanks!

Does anybody know if wp_mod.ko works on single SIM 4g version?
I've tried a few unsuccessful methods on trying to move wp_mod.ko to /system/lib/modules
TWRP isn't supported on my phone
Instead, used CWM + Aroma FileManager: managed to move wp_mod.ko to system folder but while changing permissions, the phone reboots.
Tried using file explorers: ES File Explorer, Total commander, some R/O to R/W app, but all the same result: phone reboots after moving wp_mod
Any ideas?
Also: phone is rooted, unlocked bootloader, busybox working, stock 4.4.2
Thanks
