Wow, thanks heaps for the notice as I was just going to try to solve this flashing a stable rom.
At the moment I even get an error when I try to reinstall the app from the market... will try to do it manually and google some more for possible fixes.
Greets

Just reinstalled the latest stable, cleared market data, and Samba Filesharing seems to work. Perhaps it had something to do with the auto app install after rom flash kicking in and messing things up... glad to be back on track.

Just did a fresh install, new full SBF -> CM7 -> Latest BusyBox -> samba.
Still same issue

Guys, install Busybox v1.18.5 by Stericson. Looks like the Samba File Sharing app only works with this version.

The installer of busybox from the market can't install it on cm7 v1.5...

Daaaammmnnn.... So for now we are stucked with no samba fs?
Maybe some guru will help => How to change installed busybox on CM (safely) to get Samba Filesharing working again?
I just cant stand my phone without samba filesharing...

Just checking, but have you guys tried the developers latest updated version of the app, available on the xda forum???
I had emailed him with issues, he emailed me the link to his forum here on xda, which has attached his latest development.. I suppose it will be available on the market soon enough.. But, that is how I got mine working.
Good luck

I was having the same problems using Samba on my Arc (CM7.1) - I resolved it by downloading the latest Dev version of the Samba app from here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=8239139&postcount=128
At the bottom of that post, click to show the QR code for 'SambaFilesharing-dev-110905.zip', or download it directly and transfer to your phone.
After installing that version, Samba now works fine with CM7.1. Hope that helps.

Could you give us some info about quadrant scores?
Can Mimo's fix be used with this? Will it detect a Ext3 partition on an SD card? I guess the rest is just links to directories, so it should work?

I get " application not installed".
Did you reboot after installing it?
Or try fixing permissions?
I have done both. I also tried copying it to /system/app and setting permissions there. Still no luck.
Hmm, weird. I know that's the one I used on GB, too
I found version 2.2 here that works, however version 2.0 and 2.5 do not. I wonder if it is something on the build.prop on this particular ROM.
Hmm, possibly. That's cool you found one that works!
Thanks for the assist! I appreciate the help with my noob problem.
No prob. I just flashed Jellybread tonight and I have a handful of apps that are giving me the same error :/

[apk] Google Maps 6.14.4

I dont know what you guys think about the new maps, but I think it sux.. It's slower, uglier, and especially the street view with compass mode became slow and choppy. It was perfect, and now it's not enjoyable. So I decided to go back to a previous version, now it works perfectly, here it is.
cheers
UPDATE: I found this thread useful, especially for those who don't have root access on their phone. You can install this modded apk as a regular app, no need to disable the new maps and no need to have root. You can use old maps and new maps simultaneously. Check it out: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=49889624
I don't take any credits for this, thank for those guys in that thread.

Not being rooted limits your options (a nice way to say you're dead in the water). On my tablet, the option to uninstall updates and deactivate the maps app wasn't available so what i did was cut the maps 7 apk out of /system/app and moved it to the SD card. Then copied this apk into /system/app and rebooted. The maps icon wasn't in the app drawer so i though it didn't installed but for some reason i went to the market (play store) and there was an option to "activate" it under "my apps". When i went back to the app drawer, both maps and navigation was there now.
It's no guaranty this would work on 4.3 (i'm on 4.2.2) but by not being rooted, you can't even try. Do a little more searching, i found 2 apk's in different places on the web, it just happens i tried this on first and it worked.
Sorry.
it should work on 4.3 , yes, it also works on 4.4 kitkat (nexus 5), I tested it myself. Root is needed, though, I dont know how to install it without root..
good morning
it seems like a problem on JB 4.3 because I couldn't write a file to the /system/app destination. es file manager replies me that there are not the proper access rights to write a file. If I try to install 6.14 from a different location, the installation process starts proper with questions about access rights on my device, then it stops with "x - not installed".
With JB 4.2. ist was simple. I just deinstalled the update to 7.x then the original 6.x version was available. I hope anyone have a suggestion for me
best regards

It just downed on me that you may not be rooted since you are using Es File manager. But if you are rooted use RootExplorer to copy the file.

I appreciate the APK (and the sentiment about google maps 7). Sadly, I didn't succeed in installing this. I removed GMS_Maps.apk (and the odex - did I need to move that too?) and put them on the SD card. Then put the apk in the /system/apps directory. After rebooting, the original maps 7 still was there, and no sign of 6.14.4 ...
Any suggestions? I'm on an SIII 4.3 (MK3 sprint build) rooted stock.
