[Q] need help regarding htc desire 820 video camera - Desire 820 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi
I need a favour
Can anyone pls check your camera of desire 820?
My problem is when I click pictures they are all good even I zoom it.
But when I try to zoom while video recording it gets pixelated
After about 25% zooming. This should not b happening.
It may get to digital zoom to optical zoom but it should not get pixelated.
This thing I checked with other samsung and sony phones. They are ok.
Thanks in advance.

Browsing photos on Desire - blurry pics

Has anyone else noticed this? When you go to Photos on your Desire and browse them - even if full screen - they never show up sharp, but bit blurry. If you zoom in/out on them they soon sharpen up. Weird.
Just wondering if its an issue with my phone or general issue.
Sorry few posts this morning... Its been a Desireble morning.

There's an explanation for that..
http://phandroid.com/2010/04/13/images-look-blurry-on-android-2-1-theres-a-reason-for-that/
Thanks for the link. I agree with the many opinions that this is an issue with resolution, NOT color depth. The pics are blurry - not sharp.
Hope this can be fixed soon. I use the Photos gallery to show pics to friends etc and it doesnt look impressing.

I think you're mistaking the Cooliris gallery you find on stock 2.1 with the Photo gallery on the Desire which is HTC's own app for Sense UI.
Look up Cooliris and Nexus One.

My mistake. I've not got my Desire yet (Roll on, Monday) so just thought they'd be using the same gallery app.
If you find any information on this matter though, keep us posted.
To the OP, could you elaborate? Are these pictures you took on the phone camera? Did you sync them from your PC and if so did you just drag and drop them onto the SD or did you use some syncing software i.e. Doubletwist? Did you download them from the phones browser and if so was it over Wifi or 3G?
I just sent over a large photo (4656x3600) and it's sharp in preview mode and zoomed in. I synced some photos using Doubletwist and it reduced the size of the photos without me knowing...so it wasn't the phone. Pictures I've taken with the phone are also fine.
Its most noticeble with photos taken with the Desire camera. If you zoom in or out they sharpen, otherwise they are bit fussy.
Please check if the zooming does any difference on yours?
I'n not having this problem at all with my Desire.

Yes, I see what you're talking about. The picture isn't shown full resolution until you do some zooming in or out.
I must say, personally it's not that big a deal, and I can't seem to find any way to change that behaviour.
Is it possible to install Cooliris on the Desire?

Yes, but that just degrades the visual quality WAY more than the HTC photo app.

It does?? I heard it is a great app...
I'm not having any such problem with either the photos app or the Gallery3D app
They show blurry as the system is showing a lower quality thumbnail that it has saved so that browsing between them is quicker. Once you start zooming in it loads the full size image and it becomes sharper.
any update on this , as a photographer i have my portfolio
on my Desire handy to show my pictures to anyone that is interested..
but it always take me to zoom them in a little to render them sharp which is a pain in the but when wanting to show them off in a quick manner...
if not any good alternatives then the gallery...

Top right of the screen these should be a +/- button. Click that and a wheel will appear on the left hand side of the screen move it up and down to zoom in and out.
I think you wanted to know where the zoom function is whilst actually recording? The answer unfortunately is this is not possible
very few digital cameras include a zoom function while recording video

Yeah sorry. I thought he meant camera. Zoom on video is not possible. Probably because when you use digital zoom it decreases the resolution.
...
thanks for the replies
i wish you could zoom in and out when video recording like my older nokia phone (which is like 4 years old!!!)
i wonder why this was left out....either way, at least i know to stop "trying" to look for a zoom option whilst in the middle of video recording
You shouldn't use digital zoom, it just decreases the resolution instead of actually zooming in.

[Q] HD video recording

I was wondering how close you need to be to the subject to get a good quality 1080p video? Is the digital zoom any good I guess is what I am trying to find out.

No. Not at all. The picture gets horrible. But the pinch to zoom thing is still sweet, and I use it sometimes.
Light is the most important on any video the more light youhave the less the cam has to amp up iso and gain whitch makes it noisy .i dont think video has zoom or anti shake.
Edit only 1080 p has no zoom others have digital zoom not optical ,

Yes 1080 is not as good as I wad expecting. No zoom. I'd rather record in 720 so I can zoom. Still a really good camera/camcorder.

Camera Zoom Fx Taking Stills While Recording?

Hi All,
I have Camera Zoom FX on my HOX, but can't seem to find a way of taking pictures while recording HD video, like you can on the standard camera app.
Does anyone know of a way?
Cheers

Probably not possible, it would need to be built into the app to work
They probably wouldn't, as I assume it takes quite a bit of power to be recording video and still have spare resource to take a picture, I know hox does do this, but a lot of other phones simply couldn't, and it would make their app look bad if they put in a feature that didn't work on 90% of the phones out there

[Q] Camera Noise, How to solve it ?

Hi All,
I have a 3 month old DHD. my previous phone was Moto Rokr E6 which the Camera was awesome without any noise, it had just 2MP cam.
This DHD had 8MP cam & which is not equal to my Rokr. DHD photos has too much of noise, the photo looks cool in DHD, but when transferred to my PC, the photo is utter crap. Its just my camera or the DHD itself has no camera noise reduction ?
Any one have the solution to solve this camera noise ??
I tried searching the forum, I got some fixes of brightness, contrast and sharpeness. Nothing worked
All has the same noise.
Any help ??
You are right, it has some camera problem. Try to use without widescreen and clean your camera with earbuds it will make a lot of difference. There are some applications you can use for noise reduction.

Try camera zoom fx.
Personally, being spoiled with dslr, no software can fix the dhd photo mess. Get over it, you bought a phone

Unfortunately, DHD Camera Sensor is average
Maybe you should try to play with this file: media_profiles.xml:

Ive always got good pictures from my dhd! I have read on many occasion that using a non sense rom affects the picture quality. Something to do with drivers I believe. Return it to stock or use arhd or similar if your not already doing so
@iamdofus
I owe you a beer.....WOW...all I can say about fotor.
