21-1-2015 [MT01-U06] Ascend Mate B321 Android 4.4 KitKat Official Firmware - Huawei Ascend P6, Mate

Ascend Mate is officially 2 years old now. Even though it packs similar hardware as the Ascend P6, Ascend Mate always got less attention when it comes to firmware updates. Ascend P6 got the Android 4.4 KitKat update few months ago but Ascend Mate was stuck in Android 4.2 with EMUI 2.0 until now. The last recorded firmware update for the Mate was announced in September last year http://huaweinews.com/2014/09/ascend-mate-b930-firmware/ and now Huawei has a whole new firmware update ready for the Ascend Mate in Chinese region numbered as B321.
Even though the numbering scheme implies that B321 is possibly a downgrade compared to previous B930 firmware, its wrong. B321 packs Android 4.4 KitKat and Huawei’s latest Emotion UI 3.0 interface. Unfortunately as we mentioned earlier, B321 firmware is intended for the Chinese region but you can install it on your international Ascend Mate with minimum hassle. B321 is marked as a development firmware and its the very first Android 4.4 firmware for the Ascend Mate so you should expect to have few issues here and there.
Changelog doesn’t mention any new special additions to the features but all the new features of Emotion UI 3.0 are carried over to the B321 firmware. Mainly the UI is completely overhauled thanks to EMUI 3.0 and few EMUI 3.0 specific apps are added. Here are the details of this firmware in an easy to understand form,
Model – Ascend Mate MT01-U06
Firmware version – B321
Android version – 4.4
EMUI version – 3.0
Stage – Development
Region – China
Google Apps included – No
Languages – English,Chinese,..
Size – 842MB
On official changelog, Huawei has mentioned that you should only upgrade to B321 from B930 in order to make sure that your device doesn’t get bricked. Upgrading from other versions other than B930 might be possible but we strongly recommend you to follow Huawei’s instructions and upgrade from B930.
If you happen to install this firmware on your Ascend Mate, please share your thoughts and issues you faced in the comments below.

I just flashed the rom and it runs pretty smoothly! I flashed B930 as recommended before flashing this B321. I've played with it for about an hour and everything seems to be working fine! The only little 'annoyance' I can see is the DPI seems to be set differently to B903. I'll try and tweak that later. I'll also be trying to flash GAPPS shortly.
I took some screenshots which show the apps the phone comes with and a few apps running. Click Here!
EDIT: Ok, too get root on this rom you need to install TWRP recovery and flash this. eRoot and Root Genius both didn't work. Still trying to get GAPPS to play nice.
EDIT 2: Hmm.. Root Checker is saying I don't have root :/
EDIT 3: Still can't root to work. I've given up for now but I'll try again sometime later this week.

Where are u from...? Is the data connection working..?
Sent from my HUAWEI MT1-U06 using XDA Free mobile app

tried this rom but it has d same old issue....NO DATA CONNCTION in INDIA....ithot its the official update from huawei & they must have corrected the issue...
EDIT : - Data connection working after resetting APN settings

I am going back to B907. While the rom looks nice, it just gets slower and slower throughout the day. It also doesn't save any photos for me, which is quite annoying. Likewise it will not send MMS, even after I put the MMS APN in manually. I will be keeping an eye on future updates to this
EDIT: So, I can't downgrade for some reason...

Hello,
Installed from the B930 with the stock recovery.
No problem.
All my implementation remained.
No more flickering of the screen.
No NFC
wifi 802.1xEAP without SIM option (for french users FreeMobile)
Root realized via TWRP recovery (during the first use of recovery)

Many thanks, can I install it from TWRP choosing zip?...My ROM is B221

Please
It would be great if someone can write step by step tutorial for the upgrade. looks like there is a need for some modification in the firmware. don't want to screw it up.
Thanks

Somethings to note about this rom:
It won't let you downgrade after it has been installed. I've tried flashing other recoveries such as the B906 recovery, but it won't downgrade. TWRP works, but you cannot flash Huawei "Update.app", meaning you can only flash roms like Cyanogran, Pacman, etc.
You need to apply your APN details manually in order to get MMS and Internet to work. Even after apply APN details however, I still couldn't get MMS to work.
Calls sometimes only appear for two-four seconds before disappearing. This lead to a lot of missed calls.
There appears to be a battery drain on this rom, as my battery life was lower than when I ran it on B907. I didn't take any screenshots unfortunately.
I found that I could only have one app running at a time. When I tried to switch back into another app the app would reload completely. This was quite annoying as it meant I couldn't upload any photos to Twitter as when it loaded up gallery it reloaded Chrome, canceling the upload. This could be because my model only has 1GB of RAM.
This reloading also affected the home screen, as it would reload most times you hit the home button, and therefore took a while to load home. You also cannot set your own launcher.
I couldn't figure out how to root it. I tried multiple programs and tried flashing root through TWRP but no dice.
GAPPs wouldn't flash either, so I had to download the Google Play apk from the web.
The resolution is huge, probably because of the DPI setting, which cannot be changed because no root.
If you want to run KitKat, I think this rom is much better. It can be flashed through TWRP and you can also flash GAPPs and Root through it. The DPI is also fixed. However, the battery drain and reloading of apps and homescreen is still present.
For now I would just stick with non-kitkat roms.

CM12.1 is here for the LS980, aka the Sprint LG G2.
This is a source build rom, which includes all the latest changes from cm. The nightlies are starting August 2nd.
Instructions
Official support is now limited to ZVE and ZVG basebands. CM-12.1 is based on a completely new kernel. This has enabled support for the latest basebands newer than ZV8.
While many people and devices are in various states we officially recommend flashing back to stock then fully updating your device before using cm-12.1.
If you are coming straight from cm-12.0 the rom will not boot.
Download cm-12.1, and gapps. Put them on your sdcard, reboot to recovery. Flash, and enjoy!
The latest will be available at:
http://get.cm/?device=ls980

sweet, been waiting for this! but-- latest nightly is from 7/26, and is only version 12, not 12.1, and no google apps? seems a bit preemptive to me
Downloaded and installed nightly from 08-04. Flashed over stock rooted ZVG then a full wipe.
good:
GPS seems to be much more responsive with cm12.1.
bad:
camera app wont open, downloaded google camera and others from the play store, nothing works.
no flashlight shortcut in quick settings panel, when i try to turn on via "OK google" causes force close. this is a really useful tool for me and its bumming me out its not included here, or in stock ZVG
Shiny, may be able to abandon the official firmware (again) a bit later when things are a bit more stable.
Anyone have any reports on if the screen double tap to wake works?
Can't wait to flash this. Been having issues updating past 5/17 on CM12.
After fighting with ZVG to get root it's all working. 7-17 Gapps was giving me issues though. Downgraded to 4-21.

Double tap didn't work on older versions, but you can tap 5 times to wake in the version I'm using (I don't know why it's 5... but that has worked reliably for me)

Is that true and if then what do i do to get 12.1 flashed on my device. I have tried to flash it like any other one but i get a big fail. Thanks for the help !!!

If you tot to any version of kit kat the phone will update to lollipop. Paste this address into your browser for root tool. http://sourceforge.net/projects/avicohh/files/Android/LG_One_Click_Root_by_avicohh.exe/download. Sorry, don't know how to put link in post as of yet. Autorec file is specific to sprint. File name is something like omg so good version. Autorec will take care of everything else for you. Then just flash 12.1 and gapps normally.
What gapps version are you guys using with 12.1? Initially I flashed 7-17 but ran into issues with the Play Store being unable to download/install any apps. I flashed 4-21 and now I get occasional, seemingly random vibrations, sometimes up to 30 seconds long. Doesn't seem to interfere with operation though.

Ok so just installed latest nightly (9/2) and knock-on not working. This was working in previous nightly I tried. Also, no superuser? or no root?
Hey guys, iv been trying for the past couple of hours for cm12.1 to work with 5.1 gapps, but google pay services always crash non stop, iv tried several different gapps and they all crash.

FAQ
--------------------------------
Why I can't flash the OTA updates, or the rom is unusable after OTA update?
If you try to flash the OTA From Update App by MIUI, it may fail because i change some file in the system folder. You can maybe do the update but the rom may be unstable or my addition to the rom is lost. I include an App for my own OTA update package (OTA Update) in the latest build - or - You can flash the new version available in this post without any wipe until i say you need to do it.
How's the performance and battery life on this ROM?
No lags in the UI and battery life is very good.
Should i switch to 3G Network, i prefer old and slow connection for my use.
By default i enable LTE all the time (as soon you can have it near you), if you prefer to have a 3G data connection, just go to settings, network and change prefered network to 3G
!!! WARNING !!!If for some reason you want to switch to 4G after, you need to select it, but if you reboot your phone it don't stay to 4G anymore
!!! WARNING !!!
Does MIUI have Internet/WiFi calling (SIP)?
Yes it does. Go to Phone/Settings/Call settings/Internet calling and add an account.
I don't like the Google Keyboard included.
You can download an alternate keyboard from Google Play: swiftkey, swype, touchpal X ect...
The Weather app is not accurate (localisation error)
Download the Weather BZ app, it's got more features.
How can I add new mods i.e. hide the clock at the taskbar, add APM etc.?
With WSM Tools v2.3.5 include, just download some module. Instructions how to use WSM Tools see here.
I can't seem to find a setting to let me download large files over 3G/4G.
Open the Downloads app and go to Settings. Set the "Data usage" to unlimited.
I have just follow the instruction for installing, and i'm only getting "H" for my signal.
Go to dial app and type *#*#4643#*#*, go to phone information and select "LTE, GSM/WCDMA", you should be in 4G (if you provider have it) and normally it should stay after reboot in 4G
As soon as new typical questions appear, I will update this category

Extremely good killerdog! Kudos!!
PS: is there any way not to wipe all data, rather just do upgrade from exisiting ROM from you, previous version? Or I have to backup fully, wide, install and then restore - the long way...?

Because the new version is a "all in one" it will be better if you do a full wipe. So backup your data first is advise.

Like the one by Ry09iu (this rom is based on it) it's not compatible with the MT7-L09 (single sim), i've got the same "com.android.phone" Force Close problem every 3 secondes. and after that the phone have network and lose it every 2 seconds in endless loop.
Inusable for now on MT7-L09.
I revert back to my Backup :d

Are there any precautions?

An OTA update always ships with a new firmware as well. I'm running, and ran, a lot of devices, using TWRP. This I'm really sure that it still is admit always has been: TWRP won't be able to flash the firmware part. Sometimes the ROM update part can be flashed using TWRP, but in general a stock recovery and stock untouched system image unneeded to update through the build in update functionality.

anyone found a downloadable image of the firmware yet? It's two weeks since official release now, but i can't find the image anywhere.
I've been looking like a crazy person also...
http://consumer.huawei.com/jp/support/downloads/index.htm
Japanese site.
http://m.huawei.com/enmobile/consumer/support/downloads/index.htm
English site.
Maybe if we find a Japanese 5.1.1 firmware, flash it and manually search for update it might work . Can't find one though... :/
Nothing found so far, I have looked for the image too but nothing...hope to find it, or we get the OTA update soon.
One guy in a german forum posted, that he got the update yesterday. So we are maybe not far away.

as he wrote that he had the korean b019 installed before, this sadly gives no clue about the release in other regions. :\
So the options are being patient and hope that the rollout will continue soon. Oooor....just put the korean version on my tab (which hopefully has english language sets anyways), fetch the update and up it to my GDrive. Oh the struggle....
Ah... So Korean or Japanese...
I live in Myanmar and the internet here is so crappy terrible.. Won't be able to download the big files anytime soon.. Would love to test it. :/
But think of how happy you would make us all by being able to upload it to gdrive
i won't find the time today, but i think i might play around a bit with those foreign Firmware installations tomorrow and see how far i get. I really love this piece of hardware, but 5.1.1 is just way outdated and i strongly hope that 6.0 also boosts the overall speed a bit.
Oooooh I hope that they have added multi users and the Screen Pinning feature, which is a Lollipop feature, that they for some reason also have removed.
hmm....i am bit shy to install the downloaded asian rom since i got the Wifi only version (m2-801w) of the tab and all b019-roms i can find are for the LTE version (801l). Anyone knows a download location for 801w b019?

Steps i took, coming from a rooted 5.1.1 (version CUST<something>D003 i think)
- download 5.1.1 Asia release B019 from needrom (M2-801w-V100R001C233B019.zip)
- extract all img files with Huawei Extractor to a dedicated folder
- uninstall superSU
- fastboot to bootloader
- fastboot flash system, recovery and boot img from the extracted file
- reboot
- launch Update Tool
- be scared by some weird asian Update Notes
- install anyway
- success
after installation, the system language is still set to german (as it was on my tab before), so there seems to be no need to work through korean menus for setting the localization back.
You can surely skip those steps above and put the update.zip directly into your /dload folder or on the external sd card, but remember that you need a stock rom for it to work. If you tempered /system or had some custom recovery, you should fastboot flash the extracted img files directly.

Extremely debloated stock ROM without Google Apps
Awesome performance, stability and battery life.
Most of the apps containing words "backup", "logging", "monitor", "smart" and other that may leak your personal data have been removed.
This ROM converts your G8141 to G8142, buy yourself a microSD slot for G8142 and use your XZP with 2 simcards.
Read more about NanoDroid here
You gonna need:
TWRP
Rom base from here
TomaHawk Rom, GDrive mirror
NanoDroid, NanoDroid-Pather, Nanodroid-SetupWizard from here
Magisk 19.3
Installation:
Install base with NewFlasher (your phone will be formatted)
Boot right into TWRP, flash Tomahawk_Project and Magisk 19.3
Reboot and run the wizard
Boot back to TWRP , run NanoDroid SetupWizard, then NanoDroid, then patching
You may update magisk now
Bugs:Sony Messenger gives FC for less than a second, but works.
Use QKSMS for example and disable it.
All the questions regarded installation of NanoDroid or working of apps related to Google should be asked in Nanodroid topic! If you installed other addons such as ExistenZ don't report bugs here either.

Not sure about the details for G8188 (which I think is the Japanese variant). If your device is not the dual-SIM variant, you need to flash G8141 firmware.
And I'm not really sure about how to deal with a device that's lost its IMEI and baseband.

Well, I experimented with oreo, because I like it more than pie, but it's not that stable yet. There are some mystical bugs and bootloops, that doesn't make any sense at all to me.
If there will be demand for Oreo version, I will consider making it.

Nice. I was using NanoDroid with the China ROM but it wasn't fully compatible, especially that the contacts sync adapter wasn't working. I'll give this a try once I'm back in the house. Thanks.

I protected the Project with a company.
So no one would even dare sell or spoil it.
But I gonna make services for a living, so don't get me wrong.
You can say it's cheap advertisement, but change the perspective and see the bigger picture.
I gonna bring privacy back and I need your help to do it.

Realme 5 Pro - realme UI V1.0 Android 10 - Official version available for download

The official Android 10 version for Realme 5 Pro is available for download from official site.
Official Download link
Impressed with the performance and new UI. It includes updates for VoWifi as well.
But also found that some bloatwares got installed along with the update.
Way better performance!!!!
I was checking the official website like every ten minutes. I downloaded it as soon as I saw the update. The size was almost 3.5GB. It took only 6-7 minutes for installation. And to be honest Realme UI looks way better than ColorOS. I played PUBG for almost an hour and the gameplay was much better than before. It gave me constant 45fps even when screen recording!!! Gonna try 60fps tomorrow!!
On the indian website, the new version is available, but on the european website, it still shows the old update with ColorOS 6...
I wonder if the version on the indian website is the same for every country? If so, can I install it without causing problem? Or should I wait for OTA?

Awesome! Thanks!
Thanks for the heads up! Installing it now.
Well I just noticed that the smart sidebar is gone with Realme UI... Before the update I had it and now I can find it in the settings, it's a shame, I heard that they revamped it with Realme UI, I wonder why I don't have it on my phone...

I'm in the UK, downloaded ota and installed from the indian support site, and I don't have smart sidebar as an option in convenience tools either.
On a side note, does anyone else think scrolling is a bit more laggy?

Factory data reset fixes it.
I already download and install this file from recovery. There is no problem about this update, and also I have my new smart sidebar.

Oh I see, well I installed it directly by selecting the update in the file manager. Do you think I should just reinstall it via file recovery? And what if I don't wanna wipe my data?

In my experience with both custom and stock ROMs on several different phones,, a data reset or clean flash is always a good idea with major OS upgrades, i.e between android versions. That's why I bit the bullet and reset it. Runs fine after.
Initial impressions of Realme UI after using it for 48 hours
1. Battery is terrible. Does not last me for a work day (100% in the morning and it dies out before night). I have done a factory reset to no avail
2. I dont see 4G+ anymore.
3. Wifi speeds have increased significantly
4. GPS lock happens rather quickly now
5. The phone is always warm and gets a bit hot when used for a longer period. I dont play any games. Just emails, browser and some social media
6. RealmeUI seems like a half cooked product. Especially the dark mode (and vice versa)

thank you for the review.
does ram management get better with this update?
in android 9, the apps auto killing even after turning off all battery savings.
Can I install this with TWRP?
does it wipe all my data and remove my root,Magisk, and TWRP?
if it does remove all my data, my root is there any workaround method to update ?
Sorry I'm a newbie that just learnt how to root last month ?

I did not notice any background app killing and have not noticed the RAM mgmt. I have the 6Gb version so not to particular.
This was a wonderful device on Pie. Q just killed it. I had raised an issue on the community portal and the response was quite silly (turn off wifi, it is summer, use dark mode etc). So either we patiently wait for the patch or switch to another phone if you already have one.
If you have not updated yet, i would recommend hold on
Still don't have the smart sidebar.
Google Assistant opens automatically nearly everytime I hit return
This update is so broken
